Motorola Launches The Moto X4 With IP68 and Dual Cameras At IFA 2017

Lenovo-owned Motorola launched the Moto X4 at the IFA 2017 in Berlin with a dual-camera setup at the back and a familiar design.

The Moto X4 has a 5.2 inch 1920 x 1080 px IPS LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass on top for protection. The smartphone runs stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat and is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery with TurboCharge capabilities. The company claims that the 15 mins of charge can give up to 6 hours of talk time. The Moto X4 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630, 2.2 GHz octa-core processor and Adreno 508 GPU, along with 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage which can be expanded up to 2TB via microSD card. The phone has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

Motorola also announced that Amazon Alexa voice assistant services will make its debut in the Moto X4. This isn’t the first time that Alexa has made its way onto a smartphone, the Huawei Mate 9 was the first smartphone to feature the voice assistant. Since then, we have also seen Alexa make its way to the HTC U11. Motorola also states that the Moto X4 will allow you to share the sound from your device with up to 4 different Bluetooth devices at the same time.

The Moto X4 has a dual-camera setup at the back. The main camera is a 12MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, and the 8MP secondary camera with an f/2.2 aperture is equipped with a wide angle lens. The dual-cameras allow users to have depth effect shots, bokeh effect shots, ultra-wide angle shots, and selective focus shots. On the front of the device is a 16MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture and an LED flash. The cameras record 4K videos at 30 FPS.

The smartphone will hit the European markets in September at a price of EUR 399 (Rs 30,000 approx.). There is no official word on its availability in India, yet.

Moto X4 Specifications revealed in FCC Filings

The successor to the Moto X Style, the Moto X4 has skipped a few “speculated” release dates and is now back in the spotlight after its FCC filing document got leaked.

Just like with the Google Pixel 2’s FCC certification documents, specifications of the Moto X4 have also been leaked. As per the listing, Moto X4 is said to boast NFC for faster file transfer and contact-less payments and most importantly it will support the latest Bluetooth v5.0. The smartphone will have a 5.2 inch 1920 x 1080 px AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top for protection. The device will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset and a 2.2GHz octa-core processor with 5GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage which will be expandable via microSD card. Graphics will be handled by the Adreno 508 GPU.

On the camera front, the smartphone will feature 12MP dual cameras. The primary camera is an RGB sensor while the secondary camera comes equipped with a monochrome sensor for black-and-white images and more detailed coloured images. On the front is a 16MP camera with a wide-angle lens.  The Moto X4 will be IP68 certified water and dust resistant unlike the splash resistance on previous Moto phones. The fingerprint sensor will be placed in front of the device just below the screen.

The Moto X4 is rumoured to be priced at around Rs 26,500 for the Indian market when it arrives. Motorola is scheduled to announce the Moto G5S Plus in India on 29th August, and the Moto X4 could be unveiled at the IFA in Berlin on 31st August. Busy days ahead for Motorola.

  • Motorola Canada: The Next Bold Motorola Phone to Launch On 1st June

Motorola Canada has tweeted that the company will be launching their next “bold phone” on the 1st of June. While it isn’t clear whether the phone will be launched in just Canada or other parts of the world, the tweet shows a colorful GIF.

What phone exactly will launch is unclear, as rumors for the next generation of both Moto Z and Moto X phones have been lingering. We also saw leaked images of the Box of the Moto Z2 Play recently.

Motorola seems to be on point when it comes to refreshing their device lineups, and now with both the Moto Z phones and Moto X phones due for update it could be either or both in this cycle.

  • Moto X 2017 Leaks Online with Dual Camera and Metal Body

Moto X 2017 Leaks Online with Dual Camera and Metal Body

Moto’s next Moto X has leaked in images online, with a metal unibody similar to that of the Moto G5 Plus, however, the camera housing shows a dual camera setup. The back is curved and shows the Moto logo thankfully sitting in a dimple and not flush like the Moto G Plus.

The images of the recovery mode of the phone show that the phone is running a Snapdragon 625 processor with  3GB of RAM and  32GB of internal storage. The screen is expected to be a 5.5. inch display. The Moto X has not been updated in a while and the Moto X Force was the last phone launched by Moto in India, which was over one year ago.

The new Moto X is expected to be launched early May and may see revisions to the hardware by the time it launches. However, for a market like India, Moto may launch the phone just slightly above the Moto G5 Plus which features almost the same specifications minus the dual camera setup. Dual Cameras seem to be the trend in 2017, with homegrown brand Micromax also set to launch their own dual camera phone on the 30th of March.

  • Moto X May Still Exist Suggest Benchmarks

Moto X May Still Exist Suggest Benchmarks

Although Motorola has launched the Moto Z and Moto Z force, the company may not have replaced the globally loved Moto X after all. A new leaks from the benchmarking website GFXbench shows that the Moto X may still well exist.

The Moto X was the first phone to offer always-on google search along with the Moto Display ( which was also a an always on notification system)

This Moto X seems to be a more dumbed out version of the Moto Z. It features an Helip P10 octa-core design clocked at up to 2.1 GHz as tested and is backed up by the ARM Mali-T860 GPU and 3 GB of RAM. There’s 32 GB of onboard storage, a 16MP rear camera, an 8MP front facing and it ships with Android 6.0.

This might be a newer positioning for the Moto X and may become more approachable for the consumer. (read: cheaper)

  • Moto X leaked, will be an all metal device

Moto X leaked, will be an all metal device

While the Moto G 2016 is just around the corner and a lot of information for the handsets is now available, little was known for the Moto X for 2016 until now. Evleaks and HelloMotoHK have posted pictures of a new Moto phone which coincide with past information of the Moto X.

The All-Metal design is already looking good, and may leave a supremely positive impact for the Lenovo take over. The improvement in the build quality and materials means that the Moto X may join the ranks of high-end smartphones. While the Moto G for 2106 will be the first Lenovo-branded Moto phones to hit the market, the Moto X will be the defining handsets. Lenovo owned Moto also seems to be taking a liking to the Square fingerprint scanner in the front which has also been spotted in the leaks of the Moto G4

While an image from HelloMotoHK clearly shows the Droid branding, it could simply be the return of the Droid X or it could be the Droid Turbo as Evan claims that they are two separate handsets. While earlier leaks have pointed to a Qualcomm 820 chipset with 1.6 GHz on the clock along with 4G of RAM, not factual information exists for the handsets.

Based on information leaked in the past the launch seems to be on 9 June 2016.

It’s all leaks and galore for Motorola. The Moto G 2016  aka the Moto G4 has already been leaked and now it seems that Motorola Moto X 2016 has been spotted on benchmarks.

The new revision of the popular handset will get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset according to the leak. The phone is codenamed “Moto XT1650” and runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, an internal codename “Sheridan” also exists.

    Moto-XT1650-Moto-x-2016-geekbech-leak

Motorola is following up on the specs game and is loading the Moto X 2016 with 4 Gigs of RAM. Expectations that Motorola may launch the G4 and G4 plus  around the same time as the Moto X 2016 which is expected to launch sometime in June after Google IO, also hinting to a possible Android N out of the box for Motorola’s high-end handset.

What is even better is, that for the first time it is getting rolled out in India before anywhere else! Therefore, let us give you a brief recap on some features you can expect with the Android 6.0. Firstly, you will have an ‘app standby’ feature that will allow you save battery energy by putting your seldom used apps into a reduced activity state. You will also have a ‘Doze’ feature, to help you further save your phone’s battery life by recognizing when your device is idle and automatically going into a ‘deep sleep’ state. This basically means, that when you are not using your phone, the new software will automatically shut down all unnecessary background functions to save power.

    Android Marshmallow (2)

Apart from battery saving skills, this Marshmallow will also allow you to have greater control over what you share with a new permissions model that comes with the newly designed ‘app permissions’. This  also allows you to install a feature when required, instead of installing the entire thing all at once. Another feature called ‘app links’ allows you to decide what action you want to perform for each of your apps when you click on a web link.

Android Marshmallow will also affect your expandable storage options by allowing your SD card to extend to its maximum internal storage rather than just using it for media files. There will also be a ‘do not disturb’ button, whose functions are self-explanatory, and volume controls are expected to be more efficient too.

    moto x 2nd gen

Two final features are the ‘Now on Tap’ and ‘Direct Share’. The first one will provide Google Now with context to show your results according to the app you are using and ‘direct share’ will enable sharing anything, from a contact or a conversation, within an app directly.

That was our little recap, for more details about the Android Marshmallow click here. Until then, if you own the phones mentioned above, sit tight and await your update.

  • Hands on Moto X Play

    Hands on Moto X Play

With Motorola’s launch of the newest gen Moto X Play edition in India, the company is showing that it is keeping India’s price conscious consumer in mind. Motorola has stabbed competition from the Chinese region, with this one.

The new Moto X Play has been launched in India starting at Rs.18499 for the 16 GB variant and Rs.19999 for the 32 GB variant.

Build Quality is top notch on the new Motorola devices, with the new X built on a metal chassis and on the outside a metal rim. The front has a Gorilla Glass 3 protected display which also counters down on either side of the phone, which feels great to use and avoids the pointy edges of the metal rim from hurting your fingers. The Moto X play is ip52 rated water resistant and can easily resist splashes or basic water damage.  The back panes are replaceable too, Motorola calls them “shells”, these can be bought and swapped out to give a different look or material finish to the handset. Available in wood and leather as well, it allows the user to buy the phone at a lower price than add a cover to improve the finish and aesthetics, later on.

    Moto X Play 7

On the inside, is a new set of hardware, while the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-Core chipset has been seen on a variety of handsets, it seems like a good fit for the Moto X. Supporting it is 2 GB of RAM and 16 / 32 GB storage options along with expandability via micro SD.

    Moto X Play 3

Interestingly the 21 MP snapper is quick and snappy, but does not support 4k video, as the chipset may not manage to moderate the heat generated during capture. 1080p video is the maximum you will get and that too only at 30fps.

    Moto X Play 2

The new Moto X comes with a massive 3630 mAh battery and a turbo power charger , allowing for a quick charge and giving you multiple hours of usage in just minutes of charging. Motorola seems to have found the right mix of hardware and pricing. For India’s low price market, One Plus and Xiaomi need to rethink their strategy, as Motorola’s aggressive pricing for the Moto X play while cost them some major sales.

The device debuted last year but hasn’t been able to make way for itself in the competitive smartphone arena, with Samsung Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6 grabbing all the spotlight. The US-based electronics firm is aware of its lagging position among other smartphone brands like Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, and is reportedly working on the successor of Moto X (2nd gen).

  • Report : Motorola is Getting Ready to Launch the Refreshed Version of Moto E

Report : Motorola is Getting Ready to Launch the Refreshed Version of Moto E

Yesterday we heard that Motorola slashed the price of the Moto E by Rs.1000, reducing the price of the handset to a mere Rs. 5,999. Today, we can tell you why.

Motorola devices are doing well in the smartphone market. Moto G, Moto X and Moto E have made a good name for themselves in the industry. These devices offer specs of a high-end phones at relatively low prices; the fool-proof winning formula. Now, sources close to iGyaan have said that Motorola is working on releasing the successor of the Moto E handset.

Seeing the positive response to the E range, the US-based telecommunication firm is likely to release Moto E (Gen 2) soon. There is no word about the specifications of the rumored phone, but it is likely to flaunt a 4.5-inch qHD display (540x960p resolution). The second gen phone might be powered by 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM. Talking about the camera of the device, the Moto E (Gen 2) may sport a 5MP main camera with LED flash and LTE connectivity, along with 2 MP front snapper.

Moto E was appreciated in its first generation because of its feature and price. But soon the market saw the arrival of the Redmi 1S which offered even more features for a price of Rs.5,999. Like its bigger siblings the Moto G and X, the E needs to offer a little more in terms of features or at least style to beat the competition this time around.
