The launch of the much awaited OnePlus 6T has been announced. The smartphone will be launched in an event in New Delhi, on October 30. Invites for the event will be available ononeplus.infrom 10:00 AM on October 17 and cost Rs 999. Those who attend the event will get a gift hamper full of super add-ons and OnePlus merchandise.
The event will start at 8:30 PM IST. The company claims that the attendees will be the ‘first in the world’ to experience the OnePlus 6T. The OnePlus 6T is the next flagship killer from OnePlus and is set to be faster than its predecessor. The device features an in-display fingerprint sensor and a tiny water drop notch on its display. The device is expected to have better performance than the OnePlus 6 as its tagline ‘Unlock the Speed’ conveys.
Pre-Booking & Specifications
The pre-booking for the device is set to open on the official launch date or even sooner as a listing on Amazon had gone up earlier. The listing detailed the device and also said that those who pre-book the device will receive free Type-C Earphones and Rs 500 Amazon Pay Balance. The Type-C Earphones will put an end to complaints regarding the lack of a headphone jack.
The device is said to have a 6.41 inch Super AMOLED display. It will reportedly run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and has 8 GB of RAM. The device may have a 512 GB storage variant this time, considering the fact that OnePlus doesn’t offer expandable storage support and that it is offered in most phones these days. The device will run Android 9 Pie out of the box and might have an IP rating this time around.
The exact details of the OnePlus 6T, along with the price will be known after its launch on October 30. Stay tuned to iGyaan for more information about the device.
The launch of the OnePlus 6T is near and the device seems to be up fro pre-order on Amazon. The deal was available for some time and is no longer visible. It also offered Type-C Earphones and Rs 500 Amazon Pay Balance if you pre-book the device. The option is no longer available on Amazon and came shortly after OnePlus took to its twitter handle to announce that something exciting regarding the OnePlus 6T is on its way.
Reports suggest that pre-bookings for the device will open from the date of the official announcement in India and will end on October 30. The device is pegged to start shipping from November 1. However, we still have to stay tuned to the company’s official twitter handle to see what else the offer holds. One thing is for sure, early users will be getting the Type-C earphones bundled with the device, which will put an end to user woes regarding the lack of a headphone jack.
The OnePlus 6T will have an in-display fingerprint scanner, a water drop notch on its display. It is said to be faster than its predecessor. This can be inferred from the tagline for the device, which reads ‘Unlock the Speed’.
Specifications
Despite the fact that a ‘T’ upgrade does not carry very significant changes, the OnePlus 6T is already shaping up to be very different from its predecessor. This could mean that for the first time, we could see a major jump in specifications. However, the device is said to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and has 8 GB of RAM. The device may also have a 512 GB variant as OnePlus does not offer memory card support for its devices. The OnePlus 6T will have a 6.41 inch Super AMOLED display, according to reports. The display features a water-drop notch and an in-display fingerprint scanner, which has been confirmed. It is said to have a 3,700 mAh battery and will run Android 9 Pie.
The smartphone industry has been growing at an unprecedented rate. With cut-throat competition, manufacturers are making breakthroughs almost every few months. For some, it is the battle to be on the top and for the others, it is the war to survive. So, we take you through the top smartphones which are set to launch soon. The specifications are based on various leaks and the official specs will only be revealed after the launch of the devices.
Google Pixel 3
The upcoming flagship devices from Google is one of the most and least anticipated phones. The reason being that even though they will be great devices, a series of leaks have laid the devices bare before us. With unboxing videos and reviews doing rounds of the vast internet, the only thing which is possibly left to know is the price. The Google Pixel series is the only one to have stuck to a single lens camera setup, even in 2019. This does not make the devices dated or dull the camera performance.
The Google Pixel 2 has one of the best smartphone cameras out there, despite the fact that it has been an year since its launch. The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will continue to carry what has now become a signature single camera setup. However, Google has given in to another trend from the smartphone industry. The infamous notch. The larger, Google Pixel 3 XL has a huge notch while the Pixel 3 will sport a more conventional design.
Both the devices will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. The phones will have a 5.4 inch display. Both pixel phones will have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of Storage in the base variants. The top variant may offer upto 256 GB of storage. The smaller Pixel 3 has a 3000 mAh battery while the larger XL has a 3400 mAh battery.
The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will launch on October 9.
OnePlus 6T
The OnePlus 6T is going to launch on October 16 and fans cannot contain their excitement. The upcoming device will see major changes such as the presence if an In-display fingerprint sensor and a water drop notch. A ‘T’ upgrade does not usually see such changes. Upgrades in terms of camera, battery and speed are possible, making the device even more appealing. However, OnePlus has let go of the headphone jack and the decision does not sit well with some fans. But, it is highly improbable that the someone would shun this device over a headphone jack.
The device will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and have 8 GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the device will have 512 GB of storage as OnePlus does not offer microSD card support with its devices. It has a 6.41 inch Super AMOLED display with a tiny waterdrop notch. The device will run Android 9.0 Pie out of the box and has a 3,700 mAh battery.
The OnePlus 6T will launch on October 17.
Nokia 9 PureView
The Nokia 9 PureView is one of the most unique devices on the list as it sports a penta camera setup, according to report. The penta camera setup is a patented technology, belonging to Zeiss. Additionally, reports say that the Nokia 9 has the PureView tag. The PureView tag indicates a device which is revolutionary in terms of camera performance.
Additionally, the Nokia 9 has a massive 4150 mAh battery and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The device has a 6 inch AMOLED display. It runs on the Snapdragon 845 SoC and has 8 GB of RAM. The device has 256 GB of internal storage and an IP68 certification.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro
With its launch around the corner, Huawei is stirring up curiosity with the Mate 20 Pro. The Mate 20 Pro features a unique triple camera setup design. The design is in a square with the LED flash filling in the last spot in the box. The device will run on the Kirin 980 SoC as announced by Huawei. The Kirin 980 is the next flagship from Huawei and is manufactured by the 7nm process. Huawei claims that the Kirin 980 is faster than Apple’s latest A12 Bionic chip.
The device has a 6.3 inch screen with a tiny, water drop notch. Along with the Kirin 980, it has the Mali G76 MP10 GPU, an AI processing Unit and DDR4 RAM. Under the hood, it has a 4,000 mAh battery . It has an in-display fingerprint sensor. The cameras range from f/1.8 to f/2.4 in terms of aperture and have varying focal lengths from 16 mm to 80 mm.
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is set to launch on October 16.
Samsung Galaxy A9 Star Pro
The Samsung Galaxy A9 Star Prois set to be the next big thing from Samsung. The device is said to feature a quad camera setup, a first for the company which recently launched the Galaxy A7 with a triple camera. With these devices, it is clear that Samsung is not saving all the best features for its flagship devices and is now focusing on all segments.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 Star Pro has a 6.28 inch Super AMOLED display. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor and has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory which is expandable up to 512 GB using a microSD card. It packs a 3720 mAh battery. The four cameras are a main camera, a depth sensor, a wide angle lens and a telephoto lens.
The device is set to launch at the special Galaxy Event on October 11.
Hype around the upcoming OnePlus 6T has been building up for some time now. The company has been constantly posting cues about the OnePlus 6T on their twitter account. They have already confirmed a few features prior to the release of the new device. One of the most highlighted feature has been the in-display fingerprint sensor. The company confirmed that the 6T will not have the rear fingerprint sensor for unlocking the device. Instead, it would have the fingerprint sensor built right under the display of the phone. The company also confirmed that the 6T will not have the 3.5 mm headphone jack, and this will make room for new technology.
A lot of leaks of the device have surfaced online. One notable leak was the alleged poster for the upcoming smartphone. The poster reads ‘Unlock The Speed’ which will be the new slogan. With the slogan the company can possibly be referring to the unlock speed of the in screen fingerprint sensor. Also in the poster we can see that OnePlus 6T has a waterdrop notch display.
To support all the claims that this might be the actual phone, a British case vendor has listed cases and screen protector for the OnePlus 6T before it’s official release. The screen protector shows a cutout for the notch and the case is missing the space for the headphone jack.
The cases are not yet available for sale but their is a notify option. A 3rd party company would not list cases for an unofficial device without any concrete insight proof. That is the reason we believe the OnePlus 6T might actually look like this. However, OnePlus has scheduled an event for October 18 where the device will be officially announced and all the rumours would be cleared up.
OnePlus has been releasing a bunch of teasers for the upcoming OnePlus 6T on twitter. Today, OnePlus posted another short clip on their twitter account. The clip shows a device with very thin bezels and emphasises on a key technology that lies beneath the screen. OnePlus is talking about the in-display fingerprint scanner which the upcoming device will have. OnePlus earlier confirmed that the new smartphone will have this feature. This technology was previously seen on the likes of the Vivo Nex and the Vivo V11 Pro.
The OnePlus 6T will be reportedly powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 as it it the best processor offered by Qualcomm right now. Talking about storage, the device is expected to have 8GB of RAM and OnePlus might offer a 512 GB storage variant of the smartphone as Apple is offering this storage capacity with their latest devices.
According to previously leaked posters the device will have a waterdrop notch display. The device will have a 6.41 inch Super-AMOLED display. The smartphone will run Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. OnePlus has also come up with a new slogan fror the device, which is “Unlock the speed”.
Battery & Other features:
OnePlus devices have been pretty solid in the battery department and OnePlus also has their proprietary Dash-Charging technology. This technology charges their devices rapidly. With the OnePlus 6 running on a 3,700 mAh battery, it is expected that OnePlus will offer a bigger battery for the upcoming device.
Also, OnePlus has confirmed that the upcoming device will not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack. This decision has mixed reactions from fans who might give it a thought before purchasing the device. But, the good thing is OnePlus will now be offering their Bullet headphones with the Type-C connector. The OnePlus 6t will come with these colour options: Midnight Black, Mirror Black, Silk White and Amber Red.
Price:
The OnePlus 6T might also see a hike in price from the current-generation. As OnePlus tends to increase the price of their smartphones with every new iteration.
Finally, OnePlus will launch the device on 17th October in India and reveal all the specifications and features then.
The alleged invite for the upcoming OnePlus 6T launch has surfaced online. The invite suggests that the OnePlus 6T will launch in India on 17th October. This leak seems viable as it matches the previously rumoured launch date.
The same source provides us with 2 other images of the alleged device. The recently leaked poster from OnePlus has already given us a good look at the water drop notch on the device. However, the images point out to a surprising new feature. A triple camera setup on the OnePlus 6T.
Rumours regarding the triple camera were around for a long time but were laid to rest with some renders and a TVC which is being aired regularly. These new images do make us wonder as to whether the advertisement is hiding something. In the ad, brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan can be seen covering the back of the phone. This is the exact placement of the triple camera in the leaked images. Hence, once can speculate that OnePlus might be holding this new feature back.
Another big highlight is the in-display fingerprint sensor. This was first revealed when a retail box of the device surfaced online. The in- display sensor is reported to use Qualcomm’s ultrasonic technology which allows you to access the device even if your hands are oily or wet.
Specifications:
Based on the leaks and our expectations, here are the specifications. The device is expected to retain the Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM. However, OnePlus might offer higher storage by offering a 512GB variant since the devices do not have memory card support.
OnePlus earlier confirmed they will get rid of the 3.5 mm headphone jack. On the flip side, they now offer the bullets headphones with a Type-C connector.
The device will sport a 6.41 inch Super AMOLED display with the waterdrop notch. OnePlus might bump the battery of the new device from the current 3300 mAh battery. We also expect to see flagship features such as wireless charging and IP rating on the new device. The OnePlus 6T is reported to run Android 9.0 Pie out of the box.
Alleged Oneplus 6T in Silk White
Finally, OnePlus will launch the device on 17th October in India and reveal all the specifications and features then.
A launch poster of the OnePlus 6T has leaked and it gives us a look at the new device. The poster shows that the OnePlus 6T has a waterdrop notch display. The company has also come up with a new slogan for the device, “Unlock The Speed”.
The leaked image was first posted on the Chinese microblogging site weibo. Apparently, OnePlus officials took it down in no time. However, users of weibo were quick enough to post it elsewhere.
According to the leak, the device will feature a waterdrop notch on its display. Other speculated specifications for the device include a Snapdragon 845 processor paired with 8 GB of RAM. The device will have a glass back and an in-dispaly fingerprint scanner. OnePlus already confirmed the device will have an in-dispaly fingerprint sensor and a previously leaked retail box image supports the same.
Alleged OnePlus 6T Retail Box
A Tale of Two Cameras:
The upcoming device is called the OnePlus 6T, as has been confirmed by TV commercials . The company has been promoting the device heavily all over social media as well. TV commercials for the device have already been around for a while. Additionally, OnePlus has chosen Mr Amitabh Bachan as their brand ambassador in India.
The company is promoting the in-display fingerprint sensor as a big highlight in the upcoming device. The ad stresses on the words “There is a cooler way to unlock your phone” and “Touch the innovation”.
It was previously rumoured that the OnePlus 6T will feature a triple camera. But, latest commercials suggest otherwise and the device will come with a dual camera setup for now. However, the celebrity can be seen holding the phone in a peculiar manner which has led to speculations that the third camera lens might be covered on purpose.
However, OnePlus will probably launch the device on 18 October and will reveal all the details about the device.
The OnePlus 6T will have a dual camera setup, contrary to rumours which reported it will have a triple camera setup. The latest leak also shows that the device will sport a taller display. The device will have an in-display fingerprint scanner as confirmed by the company earlier.
The 6.4 inch screen will have a 2340 x 1080 pixel resolution with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The display will also have a smaller, water drop notch as compared to the OnePlus 6. The device will also be a millimetre or two taller than the OnePlus 6.
Despite the fact that the OnePlus 6T has a similar dual camera setup, the camera performance will obviously be bumped up. The triple camera setup might be held back for the OnePlus 7. The device might implement AI functionality to combat the other devices in its segment. Under the hood, the device will carry a better and bigger battery, according to reports. Along with this, better optimisation might give extended battery life as well.
OnePlus is not expected to upgrade the chipset with the new OnePlus 6T, according to reports. The RAM options will also remain the same but we could expect a boost in the memory segment. With more and more flagship devices offering 512 GB variants, OnePlus might not stay behind. The device will not have a headphone jack.
Other expected features include wireless charging and water resistance. Since the OnePlus 6 was only ‘splash proof’ this upgrade would be nice. Along with this, the other change in terms of design will be the absence of a physical fingerprint scanner.
Launch:
The release of the OnePlus 6T will be in October, close to the launch of the Pixel 3 devices. The device is already being teased on Amazon, which means it will be an Amazon exclusive, as always.
The OnePlus 6 has been out and about for a while, making it that time of the year when everyone is waiting for the OnePlus 6T. This wasn’t confirmed until recently when a certificate seeming to be that of the OnePlus 6T emerged online. Certified by the Eurasian Economic Commission, it looks like the long awaited release of the OnePlus 6T is happening sooner than we thought.
For the past couple of years, OnePlus has been following up its flagship device with a special ‘T’ edition, essentially an upgraded version of the phone. One can therefore expect some definite design upgrades and a step up in performance from the already super-fast OnePlus 6. These upgrades cannot be significantly higher than what the OnePlus 6 is running right now.
As seen with the OnePlus 5 and 5T last year, OnePlus will keep the upgrades to a minimum. This is because it doesn’t make sense to have a phone that competes with what you released just a few months back. It also clears the way for the next flagship, the OnePlus 7. Even while it kept upgrades to a minimum, the OnePlus 5T managed to almost replace the OnePlus 5.
This does not mean that the OnePlus 6T won’t have its own exciting features to look forward to. Based on speculations about the phone and what we’d like to see, here’s what you can expect from the 6T.
The design of the phone may sport thinner bezels and even a smaller notch. Keep in mind the fact that Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus share their parent company . OnePlus might therefore draw some inspiration form its ‘siblings’ when it comes to design. This could mean a motorised camera which pops up, to give a truly notch-free screen. The screen size is something that might not be changed but the resolution might be bumped up for a more flagship experience.
Camera:
A finger print scanner underneath the display might be a revolution to the camera segment. How, you ask? Well, the removal of the fingerprint reader will give them the area required for a “third” primary camera. Having seen almost all devices reach the two camera mark, this might be the next big thing.
OnePlus however, might be saving this revolutionary idea for the OnePlus 7. Regardless, a jump in the camera segment is expected if Oneplus really wants to attract its customers.
Performance:
When it comes to the increase in performance or speed, we cannot expect a huge jump. While OnePlus might carry on with the processor and RAM options, it might expand in the internal memory segment. A jump from the existing 256GB to a more favourable 512Gb will be welcome as OnePlus doesn’t provide memory card support.
Flagship Features:
What OnePlus might add could be a bigger battery and possibly wireless charging. Other flagship features such as water resistance could be an upgrade as the OnePlus 6 was only ‘splash proof’. A new array of colours can be expected for sure along with the minor design upgrades.
The early release of the OnePlus 6T could also mean something else. With a release inOctober, it could be around the same time as the Google Pixel 3 XL. What it could mean for either phones is not clear as of now, but can give us a clear idea that the OnePlus 6T might not be running the Android 9 before the Pixel 3 XL.
When the Shenzhen based company, OnePlus first entered the smartphone industry, it took the world by surprise. The company launched its “flagship-killer”, the OnePlus One in India on 2nd December 2014. It was the first smartphone under the Rs. 30,000 price bracket which offered flagship-like features. The smartphone had two versions of Android 4.4.2 KitKat, a CyanogenMod 13 variant and an OxygenOS 2.1.4 variant. Currently, OnePlus is among the top smartphone brands in India. The recently launched OnePlus 6 sold close to Rs. 10 Crore worth of smartphones in the first ten minutes of the sale. Now with the rumours of a OnePlus 6T possibly launching soon, here is a list of top ten feature we’d like to see in the smartphone.
1. Bezel & Notch-less Display
Oppo and Vivo are leading the industry with their first no-notch and almost all-screen display smartphones. Both the Oppo Find X and Vivo NEX managed to sport a notch-less display and achieve a screen-to-body ratio of over 85%. This is something that even the iPhone X could not achieve. The display of both the formerly mentioned smartphones makes for a good movie watching experience. Hence, a notch-less display is among the top 10 feature we would like to see in the OnePlus 6T.
Vivo NEX Notch-less Display
2. Pop-up Camera Alternative
According to the recent rumours, OnePlus 6T might feature a pop-up front-facing camera. While the Pop-up camera is the best way to achieve a notch-less display, we would still like OnePlus to come up with a better alternative. For instance, the Mi Mix 2 featured a bottom-chin mounted sensor. Although, this lead to the smartphone featuring a bigger chin, it still is an area the company could explore.
3. Stereo Speakers
While the OnePlus 6 has a considerably good speaker, it still tends to sound tinny at high volumes. Whereas smartphones like the iPhone X, Pixel 2XL or the Galaxy S9 Plus have a great stereo speaker setup. The issue with having a single speaker like the OnePlus 6 is its placement. When the phone is held in the landscape mode, the user’s palm tends to cover the speaker leading to a muffled sound output. A stereo speaker on the other hand, uses two separate speakers so you get relatively better output even with one speaker covered.
Pixel 2 XL
4. In-display Fingerprint Sensor
Despite having a pop-up camera, the Vivo NEX also features an in-display fingerprint sensor. While many claim that a face-unlock is safer than fingerprint sensor, the latter comes in handy to easily access the phone. Among the top 10 features an in-display fingerprint sensor is also something we would like to see on the OnePlus 6T.
Vivo NEX In-Display Fingerprint Sensor
5. 3D Face-Unlock
The face unlock on the OnePlus 6 is considered to be one of the fastest. However, it is nowhere close to being as secure as the Apple Face-ID. In fact, there have been cases where users were able to access a OnePlus 6 just with a photograph of the smartphone’s actual owner. Hence, a 3D face-unlock is among the top 10 features we want to see in the OnePlus 6. A 3D face-unlock would not only be more secure but also work well in low light conditions. A 3D face unlock works by using a combination of hardware and software. It uses both cameras and a few other sensors such as infrared to get a 3D scan of the subject’s face. The face unlock mechanism on the OnePlus 6 is a 2D recognition system, which is considerably less secure.
Face-unlock
6. Corning Gorilla Glass 6
Corning recently announced their new Gorilla Glass 6. The new glass panel is not only more durable than the Gorilla Glass 5 but also has customizability options. Which means, manufacturers can choose to give any type of texture to the glass panel that they would like. If OnePlus 6T features a Gorilla Glass 6 panel for both the front and the back, then we could expect some other colour and texture variants of the smartphone. Hence, this is among the top 10 features we look forward to seeing in the OnePlus 6T.
Wooden Finish On Gorilla Glass 6
7. IP Rating For Waterproof Or At Least Water-resistance
When the OnePlus 6 launched, everyone expected that the smartphone will have a IP (Ingress Protection) certification since rumours said that it will be water-resistant. Although the rumours about it being water-resistant were true, OnePlus did not mention if there was any IP certification for the smartphone. Despite not having an IP rating the smartphone is water-resistant under rainy conditions or if it takes a plunge in puddles. However, an IP rating, which is an international standard of measuring how effectively a smartphone is sealed and protected against external elements like dust and water. While IP68 would be appreciated for the OnePlus 6t, we would also be happy with IP67.
8. Keep The Jack
OnePlus is among the few companies which have not yet ditched the headphone jack from their smartphones. Even their latest flagship, the OnePlus 6 has a headphone jack. But since OnePlus launched the bullets wireless , there exists a slight possibility that the may remove the headphone jack. While Bluetooth earphones are relatively more portable than wired headphones, the level of details a good-quality wired headphone can provide is far superior than a wireless headphone. Also, most people own earphones with a 3.5 mm plug and would not want to buy a new earphone especially if they own a premium pair of earphones/headphones. Hence, a headphone jack is among the top 10 features we would like to continue to see in the OnePlus 6T.
OnePlus 6 Headphone Jack
9. Improved Camera Setup
Even though OnePlus 6 has a considerably good camera setup, it still lacks the finesse seen in the cameras of Pixel 2, Galaxy S9 and even the iPhone X. What is worth noting is that the latter devices are significantly more expensive than the OnePlus 6. However, we still think that OnePlus could do slightly better job in the camera department, along with motor improvements in the camera app and software. The company recently release the Google Camera replacement for the OnePlus 6, which could be a step in the right direction for improved camera capabilities.
10. Wireless Charging
While Oneplus has stayed away from this feature due to their dash charging, a wireless charging feature may not be difficult to add. The feature will be well received by customers and OnePlus fans.
Bonus : Sand Stone Variant
The OnePlus One launched with a sandstone finish for the rear panel. It was the first that any company had ever thought of launching phone with such a textured rear-panel. The company later discontinued the sandstone panel after the OnePlus 2 but offered it as back panel covers. We would like to see the sandstone rear panel make a comeback with the OnePlus 6T even if they do it for a limited run.
OnePlus 2 Sandstone Black
OnePlus 6T will likely launch in December this year. However, in an interview, Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus said, the company might not release a OnePlus 6T unless there is something new to offer. This is good news for people who bought the OnePlus 6 and would like to enjoy their smartphones for a while before the company replaces it with the T variant. However, OnePlus has been releasing T variants of its smartphone since the OnePlus 3 so it is highly-likely that the company will release a OnePlus 6T as well. The only question is, how soon and how many of these features will the smartphone have. Have a feature you would like to see in the next OnePlus device. Let us know in the comments.
OnePlus has become a major smartphone brand in just a. few years. The OnePlus 6 is the company most popular device yet. And, if the company sticks to it launch pattern, then we will likely see the OnePlus 6T in the fourth quarter of 2018. However, before the smartphone launches, several renders of the device have surfaced which suggest that the smartphone might feature a pop-up selfie camera, much like that seen on the Vivo Nex. OnePlus has made sure that its fans get flagship specifications at a reasonable price. We are hoping that the trend continues with this smartphone as well.

What Do The OnePlus 6T Renders Reveal?
There are several image renders and video showcasing what a OnePlus 6T with a pop-up selfie camera could look like. The images of the smartphone also hint at in-display fingerprint sensor. What is also worthing noting, is that the rear panel of the smartphone reveals a third camera sensor for the primary camera setup. Except for the lack of notch and the third camera, the aesthetics of the smartphone follow the same pattern as the OnePlus 6. The pop-up selfie camera also has dual sensor, which means the smartphone could feature a more evolved face-unlock mechanism. Similar to the ones found on the Oppo Find X and even the iPhone X.
Our Predictions For The OnePlus 6T
The CEO of OnePlus announced previoulsy that the company would launch a OnePlus 6T only if there is anything new to offer. Since then, companies like Oppo launched its Find X smartphone and Vivo launched the Vivo Nex. Both of these devices feature an almost all-screen display with a pop-up selfie camera. These smartphones have potentially ushered the industry into a new domain of display real-estate. Which gives OnePlus an incentive to launch the OnePlus 6T. Corning Gorilla Glass have also announced their new Gorilla Glass 6which can be customized to create beautiful looking glass-back smartphones. This is also something the company could make use of.
We also predict that the smartphone will feature the same Snapdragon 845 found in the OnePlus 6. It is important to note that these are just image renders and could only be speculations.
OnePlus launched its 2018 flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 6 on May 16th in London. It was subsequently launched in India on May 17th and went on sale May 21st. One of the main talking points of the OnePlus 6 has been the absence of wireless charging despite the company moving on to a glass back. This has resulted in people quipping about the OnePlus 6T featuring wireless charging instead. While it has been conjecture so far about the 6T, the company has seemingly confirmed the OnePlus 6 will launch later this year.
OnePlus hosted an AMA about the OnePlus 6 and a lot of people were apparently interested in the OnePlus 6T. While the company did not outright confirm the OnePlus 6T, it did talk about the launch pattern the company wants to follow. To questions about the OnePlus 6T, developer’s replied:
We don’t have any plans to change our strategy at this moment.
Since 2016, OnePlus has followed the two smartphones a year pattern. The OnePlus 5, for example, was launched in June 2017 and the 5T was launched in the following November. Since the OnePlus 6 was launched a month earlier, we can expect the OnePlus 6T to launch in October or November. The OnePlus 6T, when launched, will address some of the issues of the OnePlus 6 and also adopt new features.
OnePlus has been praised for the speed of its Face Unlock feature. It isn’t, however, the more secure feature. The soon to be launched Mi 8 is expected to be the first Android smartphone to feature 3D facial recognition technology. It will be interesting to see if OnePlus tries to emulate Xiaomi and adopt the technology for the 6T. Wireless charging, as well, could be introduced with the OnePlus 6T if enough people are upset about its absence.
It is worth noting that the company has not explicitly confirmed the launch of the OnePlus 6T. It is likely but, you can’t be certain until the company officially announces it.
