OnePlus 2 May Sport a New Metal Body, Teases OnePlus CEO Liu Zuohu

In three weeks, OnePlus will launch its latest flagship phone, OnePlus 2. By now, we’ve seen many rumors and confirmed specifications for OnePlus Two. Today, Liu Zuohu, CEO of OnePlus, has teased another detail about the upcoming phone.

In a post on Weibo, the popular Chinese microblogging website, Zhouh has asked his followers to define “full metal”. While this could mean anything, the timing of this post seems to indicate another detail for OnePlus 2.

According to a previous report, OnePlus 2 will supposedly don a metal frame, instead of a polycarbonate body the current one sports. By ditching the polycarbonate, OnePlus 2 may go for a premium look, like an iPhone. Moreover, given that the 2 will cost more than the One, it may be possible that the phone will arrive with a metal body or may be a mix of both polycarbonate and metal.

So far we know that OnePlus 2 will run on Snapdragon 810 chipset along with 4GB RAM. The phone will sport a 5.5-inch 2K display that will improve the viewing experience of the user. The OnePlus 2 will also have a USB C-Type, the first in a flagship device by a major manufacturer. Just a few days back, the company revealed that the phone will come with a built-in fingerprint scanner.

OnePlus will launch the 2 through a virtual reality event on July 27 at seven p.m. PDT, which means we will see the launch at 7.30 a.m. in India. The event can be viewed through a VR headset, currently available at Amazon India for free with Rs. 99 for shipping.

Here’s our review of OnePlus One:

Last week, OnePlus announced the OnePlus Two’s launch date, after almost a year of rumours and speculations. The company said the OnePlus Two will be revealed officially on 27th July, which was earlier speculated to be 17th April.

    oneplus-cardboard-vr-1024x520

The company also decided to launch the handset in a not-so-common way. The live streaming of the event will take place in Virtual Reality, starting at 7 pm PDT on 27th July. For this occasion, OnePlus has engineered its own ‘cardboard’ VR headgears that allow you to slip in your mobile handset inside the little box.

This is not just a product; it’s an initiative. We aren’t making any money by offering OnePlus Cardboard. In fact, we are losing money with each one. There will come a day in which we will be able to travel the world and immerse ourselves in amazing things without ever leaving the comfort of our homes. OnePlus Cardboard exists to drive this idea forward.

To get the OnePlus Cardboard, the description said users could sign up and participate in a contest that closes today.

    1. Sign Up & Participate

OnePlus is giving away a plethora of headsets to our fans for free, along with shipping. To win a headset, users simply have to sign up on OnePlus Cardboard Giveaway, and the winners will be decided at random. The contest closes on July 3. Winners will be announced on OnePlus’s social media pages as well. The contest winners will be contacted by the company, post the draw.

    1. Buy it on Amazon India

The OnePlus Cardboards will go on sale from the third week of July at a price of Rs. 99 (shipping terms will be as per standard Amazon India policy). The exact sale date on the platform will be announced on OnePlus’s social media channels soon.

Most of the spec details will be unveiled at the launch event. Till then, as per the revelation by the company CEO Liu Zuohu, OnePlus Two will run on Snapdragon 810 chipset along with 4GB RAM. A 5.5-inch 2K display will improve the viewing experience of the user. The OnePlus Two will also have a USB C-Type, the first in a flagship device by a major manufacturer.

    oneplus-two

The company has already announced that the price of the OnePlus 2 will be above $322 (Approx. Rs .20,485). With the launch next month, there is an enormous possibility that users will, again, be required to have an invite to purchase the phone. But this time, the company says it is prepared to meet the demands.

  • OnePlus Two Will Feature Fingerprint Scanning Technology

OnePlus Two Will Feature Fingerprint Scanning Technology

With its launch only a month away, OnePlus is slowly giving out hints and details of the highly anticipated OnePlus Two. Just yesterday a new detail emerged about the phone sporting a display ranging between 5.5 and 5.7 inches and having a black matte border. Before this, OnePlus confirmed that the Two will be the first Android handset to feature a USB C-Type charging. Today, the company has revealed that the new handset will have a fingerprint sensor, and it is slated to be better than the Touch ID.

The official blog page of OnePlus reads that the fingerprint sensor is “done right. It’s refined and lightning quick, unlocking your device faster than TouchID.” It also says, “Your smartphone is your most personal device, and its security should be personal, too.”

The company assures that the sensor will not be used as a selling point of the device, but instead be a useful feature. OnePlus says the technology is meant to unlock your device and will be able to store five fingerprint profiles.

OnePlus Two is not the first device to implement fingerprint scanning within it. Samsung has done the same with its devices. However, researchers at Germany’s Security Research Labs showed that the Samsung Galaxy S5’s fingerprint scanner is not at all secure.

OnePlus Two will launch on 27th July through a virtual reality event. Currently not much is known about the spec details of the expected OnePlus handset, but we got some notable information that pointed out to its processing capacity. As per the detail leaked by the company CEO Liu Zuohu, OnePlus Two will run on Snapdragon 810 chipset along with 4GB RAM. A 5.5-inch 2K display will improve the viewing experience of the user.

There is still a little bit of time for the OnePlus Two to come out. In the meantime, you can watch our review on the OnePlus One:

Since the launch of the OnePlus 2 is only a month away, we can expect to see more details being revealed everyday.  A few days ago, OnePlus announced the launch date for the OnePlus 2 as 27th July. Today, a new detail has emerged about the phone regarding the display.

    leakedoneplustwo

A new image of OnePlus 2 has been leaked on popular Chinese microblogging website Weibo, which reveals more details about the phone. As we had earlier suspected,  the phone will sport a display ranging between 5.5 and 5.7 inches and will have black matte border. Since the image features a filter, it is difficult to confirm until the official statement comes out.

OnePlus Two will launch on 27th July through a virtual reality event. The phone is priced at around Rs. 25,000 and will support USB-C port, becoming the first flagship phone to do so.

  • First Back Photo Of The OnePlus Two Leaked

First Back Photo Of The OnePlus Two Leaked

OnePlus, the company that rose to fame with the release of the OnePlus One, will be releasing One’s successor, Two this month. OnePlus has been releasing regular teasers to keep its fans occupied ahead of its official launch on 28th July.

Unfortunately for OnePlus, PhoneArena seems to have got hold of the device way ahead of its launch and posted some photos on their site.

From the above images , we see that the back appears to sport wood, which would be a very nice touch (but could also be a premium wooden cover that won’t come stock with the device). There’s some sort of dimple on the back cover. The OnePlus logo is clearly visible beneath it, so one could surmise that the dimple is the fingerprint scanner rumored to be part of the kit.

We know that OnePlus Two will run on Snapdragon 810 chipset along with 4GB ram. The phone will sport a 5.5-inch Full HD 1920 x1080p display that will improve the viewing experience of the user. The OnePlus Two will also have a USB C-Type, the first in a flagship device by a major manufacturer. Just a few days back, the company revealed that the phone will come with a built-in fingerprint scanner.

The company has confirmed its price will not cross more than Rs 28,500. OnePlus ruled out all the rumors of the temporarily titled OnePlus Two and stated that the much-awaited device will make a debut in the third quarter of this year. Let’s wait and watch!

  • Co-founder Carl Pei Reveals the Reason OnePlus Decided to Come to India

Co-founder Carl Pei Reveals the Reason OnePlus Decided to Come to India

Last year’s success story, OnePlus, took the world by surprise. It is a common practice for businesses to first establish a base at home before growing in international territories. OnePlus decided to do it the other way round. Yes, India has become one of the largest markets for OnePlus, within months of its launch here.

OnePlus differs from other phone makers because it focuses on selling phones with small margins, monetizing, instead, on software, services and applications.

In an interview with Forbes, Carl Pei, the 26-year-old Co-Founder and Global Head of OnePlus, spoke in detail about what the Indian consumer and the Indian market means for the company.  He revealed that even before OnePlus arrived in India, they had already amassed a huge following.

Here’s what he had to say:

We entered India because in our backend, we saw many of our users are actually in India, despite the fact that we didn’t sell any phones in India. We had 5,000 to 7,000 activations in India when we decided, “Hey, let’s go check it out.” After we launched, it quickly grew to become one of our biggest markets.

Unlike companies like Apple, Samsung and LG, India is a top priority market for OnePlus.  We have seen in the past, excitement does surge up whenever the Chinese company releases a teaser of a new device. OnePlus acknowledges the enthusiasm of the Indian market, and honours and understands it.

He also added a bit about what OnePlus has understood about India:

What’s different in India is that the smartphone is going to be the centerpiece of a new tech revolution because in India, people are skipping buying a computer or a laptop or a tablet to just buy a smartphone. So the smartphone has super high importance for consumers in India, and it’s going to drive a lot of innovation in the future. So India is definitely going to be one of our high priority markets

OnePlus had early tied up solely with Amazon India to sell its products here. To reach a greater scale, the company expanded into other channels, and added Flipkart as its seller. The Bengaluru-based India team is currently less than 10 people, which will grow to around 30 by the end of the year. Pei wants to hire a “more global team” here, adding that there are plans to base research and development in India in the future.

OnePlus Reveals the Launch Date of the OnePlus 2

Last year, Chinese company, OnePlus, made headlines in the world of tech after they released the affordable One. At that point, the smartphone was dubbed as the ‘Flagship Killer of 2014’ from critics and users. OnePlus, today, has finally announced the OnePlus 2’s launch date, almost after a year of rumours and leaked information about the handset. The company said the follow-up of the One smartphone will be revealed officially on July 27th, which was earlier speculated to be 17th April.

But, OnePlus decided to launch the handset in a different way. Their live streaming of the event will take place in Virtual Reality, starting at 7 pm PDT. For this occasion, OnePlus has engineered their own ‘cardboard’ VR headgears that allow you to slip in your mobile handset inside the little box. It will start selling for free, but it seems consumers will have to pay for shipping. Pei added:

A VR launch lets you stand right next to our team and our fans as we unveil our new flagship. you’ll be able to look around as you check out the phone in a new way and maybe even find a few hidden Easter eggs. It’s a new way of thinking about a product launch. We aren’t talking at you; we are talking with you.

  • OnePlus Embraces the Future, Announces OnePlus 2 Will Use USB Type-C

OnePlus Embraces the Future, Announces OnePlus 2 Will Use USB Type-C

OnePlus has been building anticipation about its new smartphone, OnePlus Two, for quite a few weeks. Earlier this week, we reported that OnePlus Two will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor, allowing the phone to function faster. Today, the company announced in a tweet that OnePlus Two will use Type-C USB port.

OnePlus Two will become the first flagship phone from a mainstream company to use Type-C USB port. However, OnePlus is not the first company to incorporate the Type-C USB port in its phone – the title goes to LeTV’s One Max. We were expecting Apple, which is currently working on the iPhone 6s, to incorporate it in its next smartphone.

In March, Apple announced that the MacBook will use a single Type-C USB port. Google also accommodated the support for Type-C in the second Chrombook Pixel.

    Apple Macbook 4
The latest Apple MacBook incorporates only a USB Type C Port

The USB-C connector is one reversible port that takes care of power, data transfers, and display output. It is slim and compatible with almost every device with standard USB ports. This relieves customers of four or six connecting ports that demand your system’s space and gives manufacturers freedom to trim down the size of machines and, hence, weight. A USB-C connector is the one standard solution to asymmetrical USB jacks, except for audio. It’s convenient to use and has the potential to replace all jacks.

This announcement by OnePlus is a latest addition to what we already know about OnePlus Two – that it is priced at around Rs. 25, 000 and will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor, making the phone capable of streaming 4K Ultra HD videos and more. The company is expected to announce the launch date for the phone soon.

  • OnePlus 2 Will Not be as Affordable as the One

OnePlus 2 Will Not be as Affordable as the One

A while back, multiple sources cited that OnePlus would be hosting a mega-event in July, where the much-awaited OnePlus 2 would launch. However, recently, OnePlus ruled out all rumours and stated that the upcoming OnePlus 2 would be making its debut in the third quarter of this year.

As the release date draws closer, OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau, himself is announcing the features of the smartphone, bit by bit. He has already confirmed that the OnePlus 2 will be loaded with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 under the hood. This processor is capable of streaming 4K Ultra HD videos, high-resolution 3D games and has an enhanced battery life. The forum also read that the overheating issue of the processor has also been resolved with the new version of the SoC.

I am proud to share with you that our eagerly-awaited OnePlus 2 will come loaded with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor, engineered for OnePlus and our next generation flagship phone. Just like we did with the OnePlus One, our engineers debated endlessly over which CPU would be the perfect fit for the 2.

Two months back, Pete Lau hinted the price of the OnePlus Two as roughly around Rs. 25,000. This is around Rs. 3,000 more than the original OnePlus One at launch. This may be because the Snapdragon 810 v2.1 costs 60% more than the Snapdragon used in the OnePlus One. A recent OnePlus blog reads that the 810 is much more powerful than its younger counterpart, the 801, and is a much more expensive component. Hence, according to the post, the minimum cost of the OnePlus Two will be higher than $322 (Rs. 20,500 approx.)

From what is known till date, the OnePlus 2 will sport a 5.5-inch 2K display and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 along with 4GB RAM. Rumours also claim that the device could have 16 or 64 GB of internal memory, 16 MP main camera, 5 MP front snapper, and a  Li-Po 3300 mAh battery. The OnePlus Two will run on Cyanogen OS, as the differences between Cyanogen and the Chinese smartphone firm have been settled, and the cases have been withdrawn by mutual approval. The addition of Cyanogen on the next OnePlus device might help drive the sales of the handset.

The affordable price of the OnePlus One was a key element in its success. However, if OnePlus manages to deliver a smartphone with top notch specs, a slightly higher price tag may not be a major deal breaker.

  • OnePlus One 64GB Available for Rs. 19,998 on Amazon India

OnePlus One 64GB Available for Rs. 19,998 on Amazon India

Amazon India is offering the 2014 flagship killer at a discounted rate. The OnePlus One is available on the e-commerce website at Rs. 2,000 off, making its cost Rs. 19,998 for the 64GB model. You can also accessorize your One with products like earphones and protective cases, which need to be bought additionally.

This change can be considered as a tactic to clear stocks and make room for its next flagship, the OnePlus 2, which is expected to debut in the third quarter of this year. A while back, the Chinese company had already dropped the price of the OnePlus One in the US and other markets, while Indians were awaiting the sale.

Talking about the upcoming OnePlus 2, the device is expected to boast a 5.5-inch 2K display to offer an improved viewing experience of the user. It is highly possible that the OnePlus 2 will run on Cyanogen OS, as the differences between Cyanogen and the Chinese smartphone firm have been settled, and the cases have been withdrawn by mutual approval. It is confirmed to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor that will include the capability of streaming 4K Ultra HD video, impressive image processing and more. The OnePlus 2 is speculated to be priced approximately 1,999 Yuan (Rs. 20,644).

If you don’t wish to wait for the OnePlus 2, we’d recommend you go for the OnePlus One today.

  • OnePlus 2 is (Almost) Here

    OnePlus 2 is (Almost) Here

We all agree that it’s about time OnePlus brings out its next flagship. And the OnePlus One, which released a year ago in June, needs to take a back seat.

We have an inkling that the Chinese-based tech company agrees with us as well. We know this because, yesterday, the company began promoting its next flagship.

OnePlus released a teaser for a contest on its Instagram account. The winner of which gets a chance to be one of the first to experience the OnePlus 2, at the company’s headquarter. This includes an all-expenses-paid trip to Hong Kong. The company also promised that the winner gets to play an important role in a secret project they have planned for the OnePlus 2 launch. You can click here, if you wish to participate.

Another thing to point out – with this, OnePlus also confirmed the name of their next smartphone as OnePlus 2 (barely a surprise.)

A few days ago, the company also announced that they will be permanently dropping the price of the One; a clear indication that they’re clearing stock to make room for the next iteration. The price of the One now starts at $249 (Rs. 15,899 approx) in the US and in select European countries. However the price of the handset has not reduced for India as of yet, it still remains Rs. 18,998 (16GB) and Rs. 21,998 (64GB.) However, if you’re a potential OnePlus One customer, we’d advise you hold off adding it to your Amazon cart just yet.

Based on everything we’ve heard about the OnePlus Two till now, it seems to be a solid step up. The much-awaited device is expected to make a debut in the third quarter of this year. India will be one of the first countries to see the launch of the next probable flagship killer.

The smartphone train keeps on moving forward as time passes by. With almost half of this year gone by, we’ve seen many new devices like Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge and HTC One M9. But the year is far from ending, and many companies have given out hints of their new unnamed devices. Let us check them out below:

    Samsung Galaxy S7

    Galaxy-s7

Samsung raised the standards of the Samsung smartphones in March when they launched the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Now, fans of the devices have already started to speculate about the next Galaxy phone that is touted to be released by the end of 2015. If these rumours are to be believed, Samsung will feature a massive 30MP primary camera and a 10MP front camera with the device. The device is also rumoured to have a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 8K resolution. The device may also include an 8GB RAM, according to the rumours. The processor might be a 64-bit Exynos processor. Following the Galaxy S6 line, we might see Samsung to releasing a Galaxy S7 Edge too. Some other features include Retina Scanning, Advanced Touch ID and Fast Charge technology.

    Huawei Honor 7

    huawei teaser

After Huawei launched the Honor 6 a year ago; the Honor series has been due for quite some time. A new teaser by Huawei indicates a launch of a new product on 8th June, which we think is most likely the Honor 7. The teaser showed a nicely drawn banner with the date and a quote that read ’Imagination is Everything’. According to TENAA, there will be two variants of the 5-inch full HD Honor 7 and will be powered by an in-house Kirin 935 chipset. One of the variants will have 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, and the other will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of memory. Not many details were revealed about the device for now.

    OnePlus Two

    oneplus-two

OnePlus One was one of the most successful Chinese electronic startup stories of 2014. This handset captured an enormous chunk of the mid-segment smartphone market. OnePlus announced a new device on June, which is expected to be the next OnePlus handset. As per the details leaked by the company CEO Liu Zuohu, OnePlus Two will run on Snapdragon 810 chipset along with 4GB RAM. A 5.5-inch 2K display will enhance the viewing experience of the user. There is a high possibility of OnePlus Two running on Cyanogen OS, as the differences between Cyanogen and the Chinese smartphone firm have been sorted out. In the major disclosure yesterday, OnePlus’ Zuohu spilled the beans on the release time of OnePlus Two. The much-awaited device will make a debut in the third quarter of this year. India will be one of the first countries to see the launch of the next probable flagship killer.

    Mi5 and Mi5 Plus

    Xiaomi-Mi5

Reports from Gizmochina claim two more devices will be joining Xiaomi’s line-up later in June 2015. These devices are larger copies of the Mi 4, expected to be named Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus. The claimed specs of the devices were leaked on the Chinese social media site, Weibo. The Mi 5 is touted to have a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels. It is believed to be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset with either 3GB or 4GB RAM and will be juiced by a 3,000mAh battery. Its camera specification includes a 16MP primary camera. The device will also be infused with fingerprint technology. Its larger cousin, named as Mi 5 Plus, will feature a 6-inch screen with 4GB RAM, 32GB internal memory and a 16MP primary camera. No details were revealed about its processor, display, etc. Xiaomi has yet to announce the date of release, but reports mention that the two handsets will be out in June.

    LG G5

    LG-G5

Rumours say that LG is now working on the successor of the G4, and will be bringing iris recognition system into play. Reports from Korean publications state that LG has teamed up with local biometrics specialist Irience to implement this feature in its next smartphone. Reports also indicate that the phone will be released in the last quarter of 2015. For now, this is the only information we have found out.

    Samsung Galaxy Note 5

    galaxy-note-edge-official

After a year of the release of Samsung Galaxy Note 4, rumours of its successor have started to flow in. Considering their launch pattern, the Galaxy Note 4 successor may launch sometime in September this year. The Note 5 will come with a model number SM-N920F. It is likely to feature 5.4-inch or 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with curves on both the edges. Let us remind you that the Note 4 was the first smartphone with which the curved edge display was included. Other rumours speak of a 5.9-inch screen with 4K resolution. The company has been preparing to venture into the 4K technology and the forthcoming Galaxy Note 5 may be the first to embed it. Other buzz suggests of a 16MP rear camera, 8MP secondary shooter, 4GB RAM and 16GB internal storage.

    Apple iPhone 6S
