  • OnePlus 6 RED edition Launched for Rs. 39,999

OnePlus 6 RED edition Launched for Rs. 39,999

Oneplus has launched the RED colour variant of the new Oneplus 6 in India starting at Rs. 39,999. The price of the flagship smartphone from the company remains changed for the same variant available in other colours. The OnePlus 6 RED will only be sold in the 8GB RAM and 128 GB storage variants and is expected to be a limited release despite being sold worldwide at the same time starting 16th July.

OnePlus has taken advantage of colors in the past to bolster sales for their smartphones and the OnePlus 6 has also seen it’s fair share of colours including the Midnight black that the company launched with, and the Silk white which was sold weeks later. India also got the limited Avengers Edition OnePlus 6 which had the Carbon Fibre finished back panel, a gold notification slider and a medallion in the box.

OnePlus expects to reinvigorate the sales numbers for the OnePlus 6, which seems to have now dipped after the initial launch buzz. With new devices from Asus like the Zenfone 5Z and Xiaomi’s Mi 8 now expected to launch soon, OnePlus new colors may not be enough to keep the momentum.

  • Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ Launched In New Red Colour Variant

Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ Launched In New Red Colour Variant

Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ in February 2018. The smartphones are still one of the first flagship devices to run on the Snapdragon 845 chipset (in the US and South Korea only). The South Korean tech giant has launched a new red colour variant of its latest flagship phones in China. Samsung has, historically, launched new colour variants of its flagship smartphones in lesser markets. The red colour variant is currently only available in China and is unlikely to make its way to other countries for the time being.

Even though the Galaxy S9 was one of the top-selling smartphones of the first quarter of 2018, Samsung expects weaker demands of the smartphone. Launching a new colour variant so soon after the official launch could be one of Samsung’s marketing push in the world’s largest smartphone market, China. Launching a red colour device in China also makes sense since the colour red is considered lucky in Chinese culture.

The images on the Samsung China website also reveal that Samsung is pushing to promote the new Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ among the women. The devices are being promoted by Chinese celebrities and comes with matching Red Yves Saint Laurent lipstick. This is a clear attempt strategy by Samsung to position the Galaxy S9 as a luxury smartphone among the women in China. Some might argue that boiling down women’s choices in 2018 to makeup products is not the most progressive thing to do. However, that is the company’s prerogative.

Samsung recently launched the Burgundy Red Galaxy S8 in India, a couple of months after the launch of the Galaxy S9. This means that the company might not be keen on launching the new red colour Galaxy S9/S9+ in India anytime soon. Similarly, Samsung launched Rose Pink Galaxy S8 in the UK, South Korea etc but, never launched it extensively in all markets. It will be interesting to see how Samsung plans out the launch pattern of different colour variants to keep the interest in the smartphones alive.

  • Samsung Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red Is The Best Colour On A Smartphone

Samsung Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red Is The Best Colour On A Smartphone

Samsung has launched a new colour variant of its year old flagship device, the Galaxy S8. Available now the Samsung Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red colour, retails for Rs 49999. Consumers can also avail a Rs 10000 cash back on credit card payments, bringing the effective price of the Galaxy S8 to Rs 39999. The 2017 flagship smartphone received a price cut after the Galaxy S9 and S9+ were launched in India back in March.

The timing of the launch of the Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red in India is an interesting one, as it was launched a few hours before Apple introduced the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus (Product) RED globally. What makes the Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red the best colour variant of any smartphone is the fact that it is not your usual red coloured smartphone. Smartphone makers like OnePlus, Xiaomi and Honor have also launched a red colour variant of their popular smartphone but, nothing quite like the Burgundy Red found on the Galaxy S8.

The all-glass Samsung Galaxy S8 was already one of the best-looking smartphones to have launched lately and the new colour makes it a tad better. Also because of the glass build of the Galaxy S8, the shade of red colour is much deeper and more subtle than the red colour found on the likes of the iPhone 7 or OnePlus 5T.

At a price 0f Rs 49999, the Galaxy S8, especially with the new Burgundy Red colour can be a great buy. Smartphones these days barely differ in specifications and the difference is even more minute when comparing two generations of a smartphone. If a user is not interested in the variable aperture or 960fps video recording, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is a great way to get the design and build quality of a Galaxy S9 at a price that is much lower.

  • OnePlus 5 May Soon Be Launched In A Swanky Red Variant

OnePlus 5 May Soon Be Launched In A Swanky Red Variant

Oneplus has just posted a new image on their social media suggest a brand new colour for their 2017 flagship the Oneplus 5. The OnePlus 5 was launched in June and was embroiled in controversy because of botched benchmark scores and a higher price than expected from OnePlus devices, which left a lot of people questioning OnePlus’ decisions.

The OnePlus 5 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Chipset it has 6GB or 8GB of RAM along with 64GB or 128GB  onboard storage. The highlight of the OnePlus 5 was the dual 16MP+20MP camera setup which has features like portrait mode, and background defocus, the design and features of the camera were also said to be copied from the Apple iPhone 7 Plus.

OnePlus didn’t make any changes on the display on the OnePlus 5 keeping the same 5.5-inch screen with a 1920 x 1080 px resolution. OnePlus has also kept the Optic AMOLED display seen on the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3t along with the fingerprint sensor sitting below the screen.

The OnePlus 5, is presently, available in two colour variants; the Slate Gray and Midnight Black. The Midnight Black colour variant is only available in the 8GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage variant, and is priced at Rs 37,999. OnePlus has experimented with colors in the past, way back with the OnePlus One the company launched replacement panels, which would change the back of the OnePlus One to a bamboo finish. Last year, with the OnePlus 3T the company launched a Limited Colette edition black phone which was lated sold globally as the limited edition Midnight Black. The Midnight Black colour is the same as the one on the OnePlus 5 top variant.

Prior to launch the leaks had suggested that OnePlus will launch the OnePlus 5 in a RED, much like the iPhone 7 RED colour, and later images for a blue OnePlus 5 surfaced. These may finally be revealed, or one of them at least. As the posted image shows a black canvas on the OnePlus 5 and the text “5ometing New. Coming Soon” is written in bright Red indicating a red colour variant. We honestly, wouldn’t mind a blue colour version either.

Despite the controversies, the OnePlus 5 has received good reviews for its snappy performance and is one of the popular flagships of 2017. A new colour variant, possibly blue or red should re-ignite the dwindling conversation for the Oneplus 5. Stay tuned for updates, and an iGyaan Hands-On, when and if a RED colour launches.
