OnePlus 5T Launched At US $499

OnePlus has launched its second flagship smartphone in 2017, the OnePlus 5T at a price of US $499. The device will be available globally on and will go on sale in India on the 21st of November via a flash sale exclusively on Amazon.

The OnePlus 5T is an incremental upgrade over the OnePlus 5 which was launched in June 2017. The hardware is more or less the same as the OnePlus 5, with a new design and display size. The OnePlus 5T is more in line with 2017 flagship phones with thin bezels and a tall display which has become a norm in 2017 flagship phones like the Galaxy Note8 and the iPhone X.

The OnePlus 5T has a 6-inch Full Optic AMOLED display with a 2160 x 1080 px resolution and an 80.5% screen to body ratio. This is a huge detour from the short history of OnePlus devices which have so far had a 5.5-inch display.

Under the hood, the OnePlus 5T has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, a 2.4GHz octa-core processor, 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of onboard storage which cannot be expanded. Powering the device is a 3300 mAh battery which supports OnePlus’ DashCharge technology.

Due to thin bezels, there is no place for a home button and the fingerprint sensor has now been shifted to the back of the phone and is placed right above OnePlus logo. The OnePlus 5T also features facial recognition for unlocking the device. The alert slider retains its place at the top left side of the phone which can be used to switch between different modes of notification alerts.

The OnePlus 5T runs stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat with customisability options thanks to the Oxygen OS on top. OnePlus has promised an update to Android 8.0 Oreo by early 2018. The Android 8.0 Oreo beta update will be pushed out to OnePlus 5T in late December 2017.

One big change in the OnePlus 5T is in the camera department. Unlike the OnePlus 5, the OnePlus 5T no longer has a secondary telephoto lens at the back. Instead, OnePlus has decided to focus on the device’s low-light photography capabilities. The cameras do not have OIS and OnePlus has decided to go for EIS on the dual camera setup at the back. The device has a 16MP camera with an f/1.7 aperture coupled with a 20MP sensor with the same f/1.7 aperture and field of view, ie no optical zoom. On the front is a 16MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture.

Priced at Rs 32999 in India for the 64GB variant and Rs 37999 for the 128GB, the OnePlus 5T looks more equipped to be “flagship killer” that the OnePlus was touted to be and the first flash sale will show how many people have accepted the new design of the smartphone.

  • Another OnePlus App Can Allow Hackers To Steal Your Photos, GPS And More

Another OnePlus App Can Allow Hackers To Steal Your Photos, GPS And More

OnePlus cannot seem to catch a break. A few days after it was revealed that OnePlus left an application that allowed backdoor entry to OnePlus devices, a new application has been found recording sensitive data and storing it unencrypted inside the phone. This app is reportedly called OnePlusLogKit and, like its name suggests, logs an extensive amount of user data.

The same researcher who exposed the EngineerMode app a few days ago has made the new revelation as well. The researcher wrote in a post that all of the user data stored by this app is unencrypted, and also added that this data could also likely be sent to China. The researcher, who goes by the moniker of Elliot Anderson also said that he believes that the app may have been intentionally left on users’ devices by the Chinese smartphone maker.

He said that all one had to do to trigger the app into logging the data and accessing it was to dial *#800# on the smartphone’s dial pad. This action automatically opens up the app’s interface with which one can either switch the logging feature on or off.

These findings do not come at an ideal time for OnePlus. The Chinese smartphone maker is gearing up to launch the OnePlus 5T on the 16th of November. The device will be OnePlus’ sixth device in its short lifespan and take a design detour from previous OnePlus phones with thin bezels and tall display.

OnePlus was just recently accused of collecting sensitive data of users and the company has barely come out of the aftermath following such serious allegations. It won’t be surprising if OnePlus left the application inside the phones on purpose since it admitted to collecting data from its phones to improve the user experience.

  • OnePlus 5T Launch Today – Everything We Know So Far

OnePlus 5T Launch Today – Everything We Know So Far

Up until a few weeks ago, the OnePlus 5T seemed like a mythical entity created by someone with a Twitter handle. A series of hoaxes were followed by some believable leaks and then finally, OnePlus confirmed that the device is real. The OnePlus 5T, just the OnePlus 3T was to OnePlus 3, will be an incremental upgrade over the OnePlus 5. So, people who have recently bought the OnePlus 5 should not feel disappointed and for people waiting to upgrade to a new phone, the 5T makes more sense than the OnePlus 5.

Pete Lau blogged about what the pricing technique will be for the OnePlus 5T. He did not explicitly say that the OnePlus 5T will be more expensive than the OnePlus 5t but, mentioned the fact that components used to make a smartphone have become pricier and that OnePlus users will appreciate what’s coming. This means that there will be a shift in pricing again for the OnePlus 5T. It is worth noting that OnePlus received flak from consumers for significantly increasing the price of the OnePlus 5. In India, the OnePlus 5T’s base variant might be priced around the Rs 40,000 mark.

The OnePlus 5T will have a 6-inch AMOLED display with a 2160 x 1080 px resolution. This means that the OnePlus 5T will have tall display and thinner bezels compared to the OnePlus 5.

Under the hood, there will be no difference between the OnePlus 5T and its predecessor. The OnePlus 5T will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 2.4GHz octa-core processor, 6GB RAM/64GB storage, and 8GB RAM/128GB storage. Similar to the previous OnePlus phones, there will be no option of expanding the storage. The device is powered by a 3500 mAh battery which is slightly bigger than the one found on the OnePlus 5. As usual, the OnePlus 5T also has dash charge which OnePlus claims is better than wireless charging.

The OnePlus 5T will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with Oxygen OS on top which is close to stock Android OS. OnePlus has announced that the OnePlus 5, 3T and 3 will get Android 8.0 Oreo update hence, the OnePlus 5T will also get that software update soon.

Another change from the OnePlus 5 will be in the camera department. The OnePlus 5T will drop the secondary telephoto lens and focus on low-light photography. The dual camera setup will consist of a 16MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and a 20MP sensor with the same f/1.7 aperture and field of view (ie no telephoto lens).

OnePlus 5 And The OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 5T cases.

The OnePlus 5T will be an Amazon exclusive in India and the first flash sale will be held on the 21st of November.

  • OnePlus 5T Won’t Have A Telephoto Lens

    OnePlus 5T Won’t Have A Telephoto Lens

The OnePlus 5T will be launched globally on the 16th of November at an event in New York. But, before the smartphone is launched, there are a few leaks that need attention. This new leaks sheds some light on what the camera performance of the OnePlus 5T might be like. It appears that OnePlus has decided to drop its troubled telephoto lens in favour of a lens better equipped for handling low light scenes.

This leak corroborates with an early review of the OnePlus 5T’s camera which said that said the OnePlus 5T’s secondary lens will offer the same focal length as the primary lens, as well as a similar wider aperture to boost low-light photography.

The OnePlus 5, at the time of its launch, was claimed to be OnePlus’ best camera phone till date. Although it was superior to other OnePlus devices, the smartphone received flak for its shaky ‘portrait mode’ photos.

Carl Pei, OnePlus co-founder has been tweeting low-light images for the past few days and it seems like the images were in fact clicked with a OnePlus 5T.

The OnePlus 5T is expected to be priced slightly higher than the OnePlus 5 and it will go on sale in India on the 21st of November.

  • Your OnePlus Device Is Prone To Hacking

Your OnePlus Device Is Prone To Hacking

Some digging into the deep system apps on OnePlus phones has resulted in the exposure of the vulnerability that OnePlus devices possess. A developer has found an application that can be manipulated into to granting a backdoor root access. In a Twitter thread, the developer explained how he was able to gain root access and surprisingly, the app has been pre-installed on all current OnePlus phones, and on OxygenOS for OnePlus One.

The application is called ‘EngineerMode’ and was developed by Qualcomm for factory testing. It was unveiled that the app potentially renders all OnePlus devices open to backdoor root access. XDADevelopers claim that the application can be accessed through any activity launcher as the app’s activities are exported. OnePlus devices could be rooted on launching ‘DiagEnabled’ activity in the APK with a specified password that was found by decompiling ‘libdoor.so’ with the help of a few cyber-security experts.

OnePlus users can find the app pre-installed by going into Settings > Apps > Menu > Show System Apps and search for EngineerMode in the app list. The user can access manual tests like root status test, GPS test or the main activity by sending a command. Doing this will grant you access to everything including erasing all data. It is alarming how easily someone can get access to your smartphones in this day and age.

OnePlus co-founder Car Lei responded to the tweets:

These findings do not come at an ideal time for OnePlus. The Chinese smartphone maker is gearing up to launch the OnePlus 5T on the 16th of November. • Top Phones To Go On Sale In India In The Next Two Months

Top Phones To Go On Sale In India In The Next Two Months

2017 has been a great year for a smartphone enthusiast. From the increasing craze for dual-cameras to constantly shrinking bezels, the smartphones launched in 2017 so far have seen it all. However, as we reach the end of 2017, there are few exciting phones that have not yet hit the shelves in the Indian market. Let’s take a look at the top phones that will go on sale in India in the nest two months:

    Moto X4

The much-awaited smartphone from Motorola will be launched in India on the 13th of November and subsequently go on sale via Flipkart. The phone is expected to be priced between Rs 20000 – Rs 25000.

The Moto X4 has a 5.2 inch 1920 x 1080 px IPS LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top for protection.

The Moto X4 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630, 2.2 GHz octa-core processor and Adreno 508 GPU, along with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of onboard storage which can be expanded up to 2TB via microSD card. The phone has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

The fingerprint sensor is housed inside the home button which also doubles up as a single navigation button. The Moto X4 is powered by a 3000 mAh battery with TurboCharge capabilities. The company claims that the 15 mins of charge can give up to 6 hours of talk time.

Like every Motorola phone, the Moto X4 runs stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Motorola recently announced that the Moto X4 will receive an update to Android 8.0 Oreo by the end of the year.

The new smartphone will also feature Alexa, the Amazon AI voice assistant. This isn’t the first time that Alexa has made its way onto a smartphone, the Huawei Mate 9 was the first smartphone to feature the voice assistant. Since then, we have also seen Alexa make its way to the HTC U11.The 4 in Moto X4 signifies that the new smartphone will be able to share the sound with up to 4 devices, thanks to the presence of Bluetooth 5.0.

The Moto X4 has a dual-camera setup at the back. The main camera is a 12MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, and the 8MP secondary camera with an f/2.2 aperture is equipped with a wide-angle lens. The dual-cameras allow users to have depth effect shots, bokeh effect shots, ultra-wide angle shots, and selective focus shots. On the front of the device is a 16MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture and an LED flash. The cameras record 4K videos at 30 FPS.

    OnePlus 5T

OnePlus burst on to the scene with the OnePlus One which claimed to be flagship killer with premium specifications at an affordable price. OnePlus continued to do so with its 2, 3 and 3T devices. In June of 2017, OnePlus unveiled the OnePlus 5 with top-notch specifications and dual cameras at the back but, failed to capture the imagination of its loyalists with an “outdated” design.

The phone had thick bezels and didn’t look close to competing with the LG G6 or the Galaxy S8 at that time. With a lot of design elements “inspired” from the iPhone 7 Plus, the OnePlus 5 failed to attract the consumers like its predecessors did. The company recently confirmed that the OnePlus 5T will be launched on the 16th of November and go on sale in India on the 21st of November.

The OnePlus 5T will have a 6 inch AMOLED display with a 2160 x 1080 x resolution which translates to an 18:9 aspect ratio.

Just like the OnePlus 3T, the OnePlus 5T is expected to be an incremental update rather than a drastic new upgrade in terms of hardware. The 5T is expected to have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset as it is the current flagship chipset. The dual cameras at the back are also expected to be the same as found on the OnePlus 5. The smartphone will come in two variants, one with 6GB RAM/64GB storage and the other with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

The smartphone will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat with OnePlus’ Oxygen OS on top.

The OnePlus 5T is also expected to have dual cameras on the back, one of the main cameras is a 20 MP sensor with an f/2.6 aperture, while the other is a 16 MP camera with an aperture of F/1.7 . The secondary telephoto lens is used for 2X lossless optical zoom and a ‘portrait mode’ for blurred background images.

    Nokia 7

HMD Global launched the Nokia 7 in China in mid-October at a price similar to the Moto X4. Nokia’s resurgence in the smartphone market has been credited mainly to its phones’ stock Android OS and build quality. The Nokia 8, company’s first ever Android powered flagship device has been well-received and competitively priced in a lot of markets like India. The Nokia 7 takes a lot from the Nokia 8 and will enter the market at a more budget oriented price than the Nokia 8.

The Nokia 7 has a 5.2 inch IPS LCD display with a 1920 x 1080 px resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top for protection.

Under the hood, the device has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset, octa-core 2.2 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB onboard storage which can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card. Unlike the Nokia 8, and all previous Nokia Android phones, there is no physical home button on the front of the device. The fingerprint sensor is placed at the back of the phone just below the camera.

Powering the smartphone is a 3000 mAh battery and it runs Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box.

Similar to the Nokia 8, the Nokia 7 also comes with all the bells and whistles. One such feature is “Bothie.” It allows you to use the front and rear camera at the same time in a split screen view. Another feature that the smartphone boasts is called OZO Audio in which the smartphone’s three microphones and Nokia’s acoustic algorithms allow you to capture 360-degree spatial surround sound.

The Nokia 7, unlike the Nokia 8 has a single camera at the back. The Nokia 7 has a 16MP camera at the back with an f/1.8 aperture, 1.12-micron pixel size and Carl Zeiss optics. The primary camera records 3840 x 2160 px (4K) videos at 30fps. On the front of the device is a 5MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture and autofocus.

    HTC U11+

After the infamous deal between Google and HTC which meant that HTC’s whole smartphone personnel will now work for Google, it was exptected that HTC would not launch a new phone. However, in a press release right after the deal was announced, it was confirmed that HTC will continue making smartphones.

The Taiwanese tech giant delivered on that statement when it launchd its new flagship device, the HTC U11+.

The HTC U11+ has a new 6-inch IPS LCD display with a 2880 x 1440 px resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top of the display and at the back. The tall display means the bezels on the HTC U11+ are thinner than the ones found on the HTC U11.

The smartphone is powered by a 3930 mAh battery with QuickCharge 3.0. Similar to the HTC U11, HTC U11+ has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, an octa-core processor, and Adreno 540 GPU. The HTC u11+ further has 6GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage which can be further expanded up to 2TB. The HTC U11+ is IP68 rated water and dust resistant and due to the thin bezels, the fingerprint sensor is now placed below the rear-mounted camera.

The HTC U11+ has a 12.2MP rear-mounted camera with an f/1.7 aperture with optical image stabilisation and electronic image stabilisation. The camera can record 4K videos at 30fps and slo-mo 1080P videos at 120fps. On the front of the phone is an 8MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture and fixed focus. The front-facing camera can record 1080P videos at 30fps.

    LG V30

LG phones have traditionally been underrated, partly because of the competitors and the rest because of LG itself. LG ventured into making smartphones and the initial response wasn’t great. With time however, LG honed the skills of smartphone making and introduced some great and revolutionary phones over the years.

What it didn’t do, was go all out in marketing their phones. The likes of Apple and Samsung tend to overshadow the LG phones because of their over-the-top marketing and flashy features. LG does the basics right and continues to do so. With the LG V30, LG nails more than just the basics and draws the media consumption junkies towards it. The phone is expected to go on sale in India near the Rs 50000 price bracket.

The LG V30 has a 6 inch 2880 x 1440 px OLED FullVision display, LG’s first, with an 18:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. LG’s nearly edge-to-edge OLED display has HDR 10 format for high level of colour contrast and the smartphone will be Daydream compatible. Unlike the previous V series devices from LG, the V30 does not have a secondary display and instead features a floating bar which can be disabled if not needed.

The LG V30 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 2.4GHz octa-core processor, 4 GB RAM and 64GB/128GB onboard storage with up to 2TB of expandable storage via a microSD card. The V30 has IP68 rating for water and dust resistance and MIL-STD 810G rating for durability. The LG V30 is powered by a 3300mAh battery with wireless fast charging which supports 3.0 quick charge.

The smartphone runs Android 7.1.2 with LG’s UX 6.0+ on top which offers a few customisation options.

The LG V30 features a dual-camera setup at the back. As LG had announced, this smartphone has the first ever inbuilt camera unit to feature a 16MP crystal clear lens made of glass with an f/1.6 aperture and another 13MP wide angle lens with an f/1.9 aperture. Compared to the f/1.8 aperture cameras on the iPhone 7Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S8+, the camera on the LG V30 will let 25% more light to pass through. The camera will feature laser detection AF, optical image stabilisation and electronic image stabilisation. On the front side, the LG V30 has a 5MP wide-angle camera with an aperture f/2.2.

  • OnePlus 5T Leaked In Live Images

OnePlus 5T Leaked In Live Images

The launch of the OnePlus 5T is just around the corner but, leaks of the phone appear to have picked up its pace. After a recent listing of the OnePlus 5T was leaked, new images of the upcoming smartphone shed all the light we need on the phone and what it will look like.

The images reveal the new design of the OnePlus 5T with thin bezels and a tall display. As expected the phone in the images is running near stock Android 7.1 Nougat. Dash charging text is also visible at the bottom that reinstates that these images might be the real deal. Apart from the phone, a host of cases for the OnePlus 5T have also been leaked and it appears that OnePlus has added a few new designs to existing portfolio of cases.

It is also worth noting that the OnePlus 5T has the fingerprint sensor placed at the back just above the OnePlus logo.

Under the hood, the OnePlus 5T is expected to have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 64GB 128GB of storage without an option of expanding the storage.

The OnePlus 5T is also expected feature dual cameras on the back, one of the main cameras is a 20 MP sensor with an f/2.6 aperture, while the other is a 16 MP camera with an aperture of F/1.7 . The secondary telephoto lens is used for 2X lossless optical zoom and a ‘portrait mode’ for blurred background images.

  • OnePlus 5T Benchmark Scores Leaked

    OnePlus 5T Benchmark Scores Leaked

The OnePlus 5T is set to be launched on the 16th of October at an event in New York. Before the launch however, the OnePlus 5T has showed up on GeekBench giving us a few details of the internals.

The first thing to notice in this image is the score. It scores 1959 in single-core and 6742 in multi-core test which is the highest for an Android phone running the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. It is worth noting that the OnePlus 5 was embroiled in benchmark cheating controversy at the time of its launch.

Other than the best in class benchmark scores, the OnePlus 5T model in the benchmark tests is running Android 7.1 Nougat and not Android 8.0 Oreo.

Under the hood, the smartphone has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and 8GB of RAM. The Chinese smartphone maker will launch a 6GB RAM variant as well.

From the benchmark listing, it is evident that the OnePlus 5T is not much of an upgrade over the OnePlus 5 if you go purely on performance basis.

As far as pricing is concerned, co-founder of OnePlus, Pete Lau took to Weibo, the Chinese microblogging website to hint at what the OnePlus 5T might be priced at. It is worth noting that he did not announce the official price but, gave information about what the pricing strategy will be as compared to that of the OnePlus 5.

Pete Lau mentions that the OnePlus 5T may be slightly expensive than the OnePlus 5, and could cost under CNY 4,000 (Rs 39000). He confirms that the OnePlus 5T may cost less than Rs 40,000 for the 6GB RAM variant. Similar to the OnePlus 5, the OnePlus 5T is expected to be launched in two variants, one with 6GB/64GB onboard storage, and the other with 8GB RAM/128GB onboard storage.

The OnePlus 5T is expected to have a 6-inch AMOLED display with a 2160 x 1920 px resolution. While increasing the screen size of the OnePlus 5T by 0.5 inches over the OnePlus 5, the overall footprint of the phone will remain the same. This will be possible because the OnePlus 5T will have thin bezels and a tall display.

  • Dash Charging Is Better Than Wireless Charging – OnePlus

Dash Charging Is Better Than Wireless Charging – OnePlus

The upcoming OnePlus 5T appears to be the 2017 flagship phone that OnePlus 5 should have been. A tall display with thin bezels, dual-cameras, great hardware and rumoured competitive pricing. One thing that would be missing from the OnePlus 5T is wireless charging. OnePlus believes that its ‘Dash Charging’ is better than wireless charging hence, it decided to forego including wireless charging.

Pete Lau, co-founder of OnePlus shared two reasons why the company decided to not include a popular feature in the OnePlus 5T:

Reason 1: Wired quick charging solutions like ours clearly outshine wireless on quantitative measures. Just plug your device in, and Dash Charge produces 20 watts of power, reliably giving a day’s power in half an hour.

Reason 2: Dash Charge gives you enough power for the day with just one charging session. All you need is the Dash Charge cable and adaptor to consistently power your device at superior rate. It doesn’t matter whether you’re gaming or streaming video. Dash Charge stays cool and power efficient.

Wireless charging has been around for a long time now but, it became a mainstream topic of discussion after Apple included it in its latest 2017 iPhones. It is true that wireless charging doesn’t produce enough electrical juice to “fast charge” your smartphone and doesn’t even compare to OnePlus’ dash charge technology.

However, OnePlus has not dismissed the idea of wireless charging in their phones. Pete Lau says the company will “consider adopting the wireless charging technology when the time is right.”

OnePlus has announced that the new OnePlus 5T will be launched on the 16th of November at an event in New York. Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus confirmed that the OnePlus 5T will be available in India from the 21st of November via a flash sale. After weeks of speculation and doubts around the existence of the OnePlus 5T, the much anticipated smartphone will be made official. In a blog post, Carl Pei said:

For those eagerly considering the OnePlus 5T, let me share a key piece of info to help you decide. Sales for the OnePlus 5T in North America and Europe start on November 21. The OnePlus 5T will be available in China on December 1. Early birds in India will be able to get their device through a flash sale on November 21, while official sales start on November 28.

The other co-founder of OnePlus, Pete Lau took to Weibo, the Chinese microblogging website to hint at what the OnePlus 5T might be priced at.

As per a recent leak through a benchmarks website, the OnePlus 5T will have a 6-inch 2160 x 1080 px display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.

The listing reveals that the smartphone will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, an octa-core processor clocked at 2.4GHz and Adreno 540 GPU, 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and 64GB or 128GB of onboard storage. These specifications are the same as the OnePlus 5 and is expected to be this way as the Snapdragon 835 is the best chip available right now. The OnePlus 3T was an incremental upgrade over the OnePlus 3 because there was a faster chip available ion the market.

    OnePlus 5T Leaked Image

The next piece of information is interesting. According to the listing, the OnePlus 5T is expected to have a 20MP front-facing camera as opposed to a 16MP camera found on the OnePlus 5. The back cameras are expected to be the same 16MP + 20MP (telephoto lens) as the OnePlus 5 with improved portrait mode capabilities.

With the official launch just a few days away, there are possibilities of more leaks surfacing online and it won’t be a surprise if we all know what the phone will look like before it is officially launched.

  • OnePlus 5T Specifications Leaked Before Imminent Launch

OnePlus 5T Specifications Leaked Before Imminent Launch

The OnePlus 5T will be launched some time in November and after teasing ‘something’ for weeks, OnePlus has finally opened up about its upcoming flagship phone. Before the launch, however, there are customary leaks to look at, and this one comes from a listing on GFXBench.

Contrary to prior leaked listings, this one suggests that the OnePlus 5T will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box and Android 8.0 Oreo. As expected, the OnePlus 5T is expected to have a 6-inch AMOLED display with a 2160 x 1080 px resolution. This is a heavily speculated feature and the main upgrade over the OnePlus 5 which has 5.5 inch AMOLED display with a 1920 x 1080 px resolution. OnePlus, in a previous tweet showed off the similar footprint of the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T while increasing the screens size of the OnePlus 5T by 0.5-inch.

OnePlus has also teased the city in which the OnePlus 5T will be launched. The image tweeted shows the intersection of West 34th Street and Broadway, located in Manhattan, New York City. The date of the launch has not been revealed as of now but, considering the social media activity of the company, it might be revealed sooner rather than later.

OnePlus 5T Leaked In Live Image

OnePlus confirmed the existence of the OnePlus 5T (and the 3.5mm headphone jack) through a blog on OnePlus forums. Now, a new image posted on the internet appears to reveal what the front of the OnePlus 5T will look like.

    Leaked promotional image

The image was clicked during the Paris Game Week. The Vainglory eSports team of Palmarini is sponsored by OnePlus which indicates that the image is probably featuring the OnePlus 5T phone. At the ongoing gaming event, various OnePlus 5 tethered units can be found at the OnePlus booth. In the image, it is visible that the mysterious device has a fairly larger and sleeker display than the OnePlus 5 lying next to it. There is also no fingerprint sensor on the front of the phone, thanks to the thin bezels. The display also ever-so-slightly curves at the edges.

When the OnePlus 5 was launched in June 2017, it was observed that it took most of the design elements from the OPPO R11. On the 2nd of November, OPPO R11s was launched with thin bezels and a 6-inch display with the fingerprint sensor placed at the back. OnePlus 5T could take the design inspirations from the OPPO R11s and the image leaked could be the upcoming OnePlus 5T.

The OnePlus 5T will have a 6 inch AMOLED display with a 2160 x 1080 x resolution which translates to an 18:9 aspect ratio.

The smartphone is expected to run Android 7.1.1 Nougat with OnePlus’ Oxygen OS on top. The 2017 flagship will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset with a combination of either 6GB RAM and 64GB of storage or a whopping 8GB RAM and 128 of storage which can not be expanded. The OnePlus 5T is also expected feature dual cameras on the back, one of the main cameras is a 20 MP sensor with an f/2.6 aperture, while the other is a 16 MP camera with an aperture of F/1.7 .

The OnePlus 5T is expected to be launched on the 20th of November.

Is This What The OnePlus 5T Will Look Like?

OnePlus confirmed that the OnePlus 5T is a real phone and not the work of someone’s imagination. It is expected that the OnePlus 5T will have a new design and display with same hardware as the OnePlus 5. On the 3rd of November, OPPO, OnePlus’ parent company launched the OPPO R11s and R11s Plus with thin bezels and tall displays and 18:9 aspect ratio. The OnePlus 5, when it was launched in June 2017 looked almost identical to the OPPO R11. This means that it is fair to assume that the OnePlus 5T will take a lot of design cues from the OPPO R11s.

The rumours and the launch of the OPPO R11s falls in line as well. The OnePlus 5T is expected to be an incremental rather than a drastic upgrade over the OnePlus 5. The OnePlus 5T is expected to have a 6-inch AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. A tall display means that the phone will be sleeker than the OnePlus 5 and have thinner bezels as well. The fingerprint sensor is expected to be relocated to the back of the phone just above the OnePlus logo. All of these design elements can be found on the OPPO R11s as well.

Apart from a design change, the OnePlus 5T is expected to have the same hardware as the OnePlus 5. When the OnePlus 3T was launched, it had the same design and hardware except for a bigger battery and a new chipset. In this case, since the OnePlus 5 already has the best flagship chipset, the OnePlus 5T will stick to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset with 6GB/8GB of RAM.

OnePlus has just confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 5T will retain the 3.5mm headphone jack which is a good news for anyone waiting to upgrade to the OnePlus 5T. The speculated date of launch of the OnePlus 5T is the 20th of November and if that turns out to be true, then OnePlus should be sending out press invites soon.

  • The OnePlus 5T Is Real And Will Have A Headphone Jack

The OnePlus 5T Is Real And Will Have A Headphone Jack

The OnePlus 5T has been leaked in listings and renders for the past few weeks now. Ever since the first render we saw a few weeks ago, the OnePlus 5T’s possible launch seems more imminent with every passing day. In a post on the OnePlus forum, Pete, co-founder of OnePlus wrote about the importance of a headphone jack and titled it, ‘The OnePlus 5T – Let’s talk about the headphone jack’. This post all but confirms that Chinese smartphone maker will be launching the OnePlus 5T soon.

Pete talks about the importance of a 3.5mm headphone jack and why OnePlus, at least for the time being, won’t be getting rid of it even when most of the smartphone makers appear to have moved on from it.

That’s why we prioritize the user and make good technology accessible. Sometimes, industry trends go against our core beliefs. This is one of those times when we respectfully disagree on what it means to be courageous.

Over the course of past few weeks, apart from the usual leaks and renders we see of every phone, the OnePlus co-founders Carl Pei and Pete Lau have taken to Twitter to tease the portrait mode of an upcoming phone. They posted portrait mode photos with cryptic captions and has intrigued consumers and the tech community alike.

The OnePlus social media team has also jumped the hype train. In a Twitter post, OnePlus shared an image of 5 cups of tea, which suggests ‘OnePlus 5T’. Till now, all of this seemed like speculation and hoping a OnePlus 5T launch because of such cryptic social media activity was highly optimistic. But, this new post on the OnePlus forum by a OnePlus employee all but confirms that the OnePlus 5T is real.

Just like the OnePlus 3T, the OnePlus 5T is expected to be an incremental update rather than a drastic new upgrade in terms of hardware. The OnePlus 5T is expected to have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset as it is the current flagship chipset. The dual cameras at the back are also expected to be the same as found on the OnePlus 5. The OnePlus 5T is expected to have a 6 inch AMOLED display with a 2160 x 1080 x resolution which translates to an 18:9 aspect ratio.

The smartphone is expected to run Android 7.1.1 Nougat with OnePlus’ Oxygen OS on top.

The speculated date of launch of the OnePlus 5T is the 20th of November and if that turns out to be true, then OnePlus should be sending out press invites soon.
