  • Watch the First Trailer for Hitman Movie, Agent 47

Watch the First Trailer for Hitman Movie, Agent 47

Wildly popular gaming franchise Hitman: Agent 47 released a new movie trailer. The upcoming movie reboot is all set to star Homeland’s ruthless CIA operative Rupert Friend as the next Agent 47.

From the looks of it, it has all the hallmarks of Agent 47 from the original Hitman game – the familiar black suit and red tie, dual Beretta shooting sequences, along with familiar clunky hitman style dialogues.

The new trailer also features Star Trek’s Zacahary Quinto (Spock) along with Game of Thrones’ Ciarán Hinds (Mance Rayder). There’s no connection between this new trailer and the last Hitman movie. Agent 47, was also supposed to star Hollywood heartthrob Paul Walker before his untimely death.

Meanwhile, a new video game installment of the series is also currently in development for PC and consoles at IO Interactive, though very few details are yet known.

The movie is expected to be released sometime in August, let’s hope it’s worth it.

  • Spiderman Finally Coming to Marvel Cinematic Universe

Spiderman Finally Coming to Marvel Cinematic Universe

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is the ultimate in nerdtastic adventure. Marvel has grown from an independent movie studio in 2008 to a multi-billion dollar Hollywood powerhouse. Everyone in the industry is looking to work with this movie studio. For a while, it was being rumored that one of the biggest stars of the Marvel Universe, Spiderman, would be joining the Marvel Universe, and now the news has been confirmed.

Spiderman is one of the major characters in Marvel comics, but the movie rights of the character were with Sony Pictures. Sony has made several successful movies based on the Spiderman franchise. But when Marvel came into the movie business, the fans started demanding one of the star Avengers to come join the big boys of Marvel. After months of negotiations, Sony Pictures and Marvels have signed the deal to get Spider in MCU.

There are speculations that Spiderman may make an appearance as soon as next year with the Captain America: Civil War. This would be a great news for the comic book enthusiasts as Spiderman is one of the major characters in the Civil War storyline.

Spiderman is one of Sony’s biggest cash cow, so the company is not giving up complete control over the character yet. They reserve the right to make independent standalone Spiderman movies. This seems like a precautionary act as Marvel can do much better job with the character than Sony has ever done.

A Spiderman Film is expected to come in place of Thor: Ragnarok
A Spiderman Film is expected to come in place of Thor: Ragnarok

Marvel has reshuffled its release plans and introduced an Untitled Spiderman movie instead of Thor: Ragnarok. Andrew Garfield, who played Spiderman in the last two movies, is not going to be reprising that role so it’s still unclear who would be playing the new Spiderman. But this story has got us on the edge of our seats, and we can’t wait for the Captain America: Civil War to come to our nearest movie theater.

  • Microsoft Pushes the Boundaries With HoloLens, But How Far Will it Go?

Microsoft Pushes the Boundaries With HoloLens, But How Far Will it Go?

The much-awaited consumer preview of Microsoft’s new operating system, Windows 10 is here. This is, of course, the best Windows OS yet and tries to repent for Microsoft’s follies in Windows 8. There are a lot of amazing features such as the return of the Start menu, Cortana, a new browser dubbed Spartan and much more. Windows 10 seems like it might also give a boost to Microsoft’s ailing smartphone business that it acquired from Nokia. But the gizmo that won everybody’s heart was the HoloLens, a one of a kind wearable that brings science fiction into reality. We look at this amazing innovation from Microsoft and see if the biggest tech company in the world finally found its winning formula.

HoloLens can make all our displays obsolete as it can conjure a display anywhere you want,
HoloLens can make all our displays obsolete as it can conjure a display anywhere you want

A Seamless Interaction between Digital Life and Real Life

Microsoft hits the top podium stand with the HoloLens at least in terms of imagination and innovation. The HoloLens has no match if you consider the manner in which it is presented. There have been previous attempts at making augmented reality based holographic glasses like Meta 1, but they appeared rather rudimentary. Google’s HoloLens gets the power of Windows 10 that will give it a boost above the rest. Also, with this product, Microsoft finally gets to stand up to Apple, whose biggest innovative offering has been the Apple Watch, which suffers from an extreme battery draining problem.

HoloLens bring Holographs into your everyday life.
HoloLens bring Holographs into your everyday life.

The demos of the HoloLens were definitely mind blowing. The virtual holographic objects appear as if they are a part of the real world. Interaction with this world also feels like a breeze. Microsoft has also unveiled the Holo Studio that lets you create 3D objects in a 3D environment and then using 3D printers, bring them into the real world. Unlike most of the product demo videos that exaggerate the possibilities of the technology, HoloLens seemed to perform exactly as it was presented. The creation process of the quad copter literally felt as if we were in Tony Stark’s workspace.

    The Technology

The HoloLens is a self contained computer on its own and doesn't require connection to Phone or a PC.
The HoloLens is a self contained computer on its own and doesn’t require connection to Phone or a PC.

The HoloLens is a self-contained computer. It includes a CPU, a GPU, and a dedicated holographic processor unit (HPU). It neither has wire nor does it require a connection to a phone, PC or any other device. It has 120 by 120 field of view, which is even wider than the Kinect. The wide view lets it see what your hands are doing even while they’re completely outstretched. The device has to process a lot of information that might lead to a lot of heat, to solve the issue; there are air vents on the side that disperse the heat. On the right side of the device are the buttons that let you adjust the volume and contrast of the Holographs.

    Applications

HoloLens doesn’t just present an amazing bunch of features it also makes several previous technology such as various displays almost obsolete. With the HoloLens, you can conjure a display anywhere and of any size you desire. It can be used as a teaching tool and would bring a whole new meaning to “learning by doing”. Students can be given lessons in an interactive format where they’ll get the option to manipulate the lessons to see what happens. For e.g.; a holographic globe can be used in the class learning Geography that shows the movement of ocean currents and the formation clouds caused by it. This would be a lot more interactive than a dull map with lines drawn on them.

Lessons get interactive and more engaging with HoloLens.
Lessons get interactive and more engaging with HoloLens.

You can also bid goodbye to the game boards, and the gaming consoles as the entire world becomes a virtual gaming space. As the technology will progress, developers are bound to introduce virtual reality gaming that with the might of HoloLens, will be better than anything we’ve experienced till now.

Designing process gets real easy with real time 3D modelling coupled with 3D printing.
Designing process gets real easy with real time 3D modelling coupled with 3D printing.

On the enterprise front, the HoloLens will allow for virtual interactions between the entire team even if they are sitting thousands of kilometres away. Industrial designing, when coupled with 3D printing, would make the design process a lot more interactive. A vehicle designer or an architect can have an all-round view of their project and can find deficiencies and solve it after which they can get a 3D model printed.

    Mars, just a HoloLens away

Microsoft has partnered with Nasa to create OnSight that lets scientists walk on Mars surface.
Microsoft has partnered with Nasa to create OnSight that lets scientists walk on Mars surface.

The coolest aspect of the HoloLens is how it is useful for the scientists at NASA. Now the researchers can have an immersive view of the Martian surface. To aid the scientists, Nasa and Microsoft have created a software called OnSight. Using the data sent by the Curiosity Rover on Mars, the scientist can have access to the surroundings of the rover to almost the same degree as a geologist on earth. Nasa plans to proactively use the OnSight software for the research. They also plan to integrate the technology in future missions including the next Mars rover expected to launch in 2020.

Microsoft will be opening the platform for developers this spring. The developers will get access to all the information during Microsoft’s Build conference from April 29 to May 1, 2015. Microsoft has said that it will be priced for both enterprise as well as consumer users. With the HoloLens and the successful preview of the Windows 10, Microsoft has finally managed to win our hearts again. With the HoloLens, everybody gets to be Tony Stark. Microsoft has not just pushed boundaries of holography but has also set a technological standard for others to match.

Dear Apple, that Watch just doesn’t cut it anymore, show us something that really blows our minds.

Facebook in Hiring Mode to Boost its Virtual Reality Business

When Facebook acquired Oculus Rift for a price of $2 Billion, we had a feeling it has something big planned for it. Virtual Reality(VR) is a budding market that is growing at a slow and steady pace. Facebook sees huge potential for these devices and is now on a hiring spree to get Oculus Rift up and running in the consumer space.

Oculus can be credit for bringing Virtual Reality back from the dead. Using the increased processing might of this generation chipset has helped these device give an authentic VR experience. The graphics quality has gotten better and there are now multiple headset options in the market that promise an immersive experience. While devices like Gear VR from Samsung are already in the market, Oculus Rift’s consumer version is still in the development stage.

Facebook acquired Oculus last year for a sum of $2 Billion
Facebook acquired Oculus last year for a sum of $2 Billion

Facebook has listed 54 jobs on its website that seem to directly focus on it VR division. The jobs listed include managers to oversee logistics, procurement and global supply chain planning. Analysts believe this hints that the company is ready to bring the consumer version in the market.

If you want to test out the Oculus Rift, the company offers a Developers Kit that supports over 188 game titles. Other players in the VR market include Sony with its Project Morpheus, Google with the low-cost headset called the Cardboard project and Avegant Glyph. There are also some start-up projects working on their VR headsets too, like ANTVR.

We hope the wait for the consumer version of the Oculus Rift is coming to an end. It may be only a while before VR would be the way to game because of its immersive advantage.

The New Avengers Trailer Warns of Impending Doom

Ever since the demise of Shield in Captain America 2, the world of the Avengers is going downhill. The next big movie event from the Marvel’s Cinematic Universe(MCU) is the Avengers 2: Age of Ultron and Marvel has just released a second trailer for the movie.

From the looks of it, Earth mightiest heroes are going to face their most formidable enemy yet in the form of Ultron. Tony Stark created Ultron, an artificial intelligence based peacekeeping program that turns against the Avengers. The trailer also shows Iron Man going against the Hulk in his new Hulkbuster suit. The amount of carnage is disconcerting, and we can’t wait for the movie to come out to see how Earth’s defenders will take on their biggest challenge yet.

The Interview Becomes the No.1 Online Movie Ever Released by Sony Pictures

There were tons of stories written and discussed about Sony Pictures’ controversial release of ‘The Interview’. Looks like all this free publicity has given Sony a good reason to celebrate. Earlier, there was fuss about Sony releasing The Interview online before it hit theatres as no one was sure how it will turn out.

Now the company has announced that The Interview made $15 million from online sales and rentals since its Christmas Eve release online. The film also made $2.8 million in theaters over the long Christmas weekend.

The Hollywood blockbuster, which follows a hapless TV host tasked with the assassinating Kim Jong-un, was originally intended to be released on roughly 3,000 screens on Christmas Day. It was expected to generate $20 million during its opening.

The studio said on Sunday the film had been purchased or rented online more than 2 million times on the four days through to Saturday, making it Sony Pictures’ No 1 online movie of all time. The comedy was at the center of a crippling security breach at Sony Pictures in November that resulted in an embarrassing spill of company secrets.

The announcement came few hours after ‘The Interview’ finally made its debut on Apple’s iTunes. The movie has been available since Wednesday on YouTube Movies, Google Play, Xbox and a dedicated Sony-built website, Seetheinterview.com. • Samsung Unveils Affordable 27-Inch Curved Monitors

Samsung Unveils Affordable 27-Inch Curved Monitors

When you talk of curved convex displays, LG immediately pops up in your mind. Why wouldn’t it, LG was the first company to come with a curved display on a smartphone (LG G-Flex.) It has proactively marketed itself as the curved screen master. But its compatriot and global electronics giant; Samsung is not going to let LG have a free run. The company has introduced consumer level curved displays for just around $450.

Samsung had recently wowed the audience at IFA Berlin with a massive 105 inch screen that can bend at a press of a remote. In July, it had also released a curved 105-inch 4K TV which cost a king’s ransom of $129,000 which converts to around Rs. 78,48,360. I’d rather buy a Tesla Model S which comes at almost half the price, well if you want to dream, dream good, right?

Samsung claims the 27 inch display
Samsung claims the 27-inch curved display provides a wider field of view and a greater sense of depth

Coming back to the display at hand. The new curved monitors have 27-inch display. They have a contrast ratio of 3000:1. It would be great for a desktop monitor or for a gaming system.

Samsung UK’s Phil Gaut claimed that the S27D590C offers “a truly immersive and unforgettable experience. It takes movie watching and gaming to new heights, from the monitor’s unique curved screen and comprehensive entertainment features to the incredible picture quality and the impressive sleek design.”

Samsung has included a feature called the Game mode. This feature, the company claims, intelligently detects on-screen changes and corrects blurry images. It also enhances colors and alters contrast for improved visibility of in-game action. According to the company, the curve of the screen also provides a wider field of view and a greater sense of depth.

The monitor definitely looks impressive and is the cheapest curved screen option out there. The price is great for what it offers. We hope it comes to India soon so we can get our hands on it and know for sure of its “immersive and unforgettable experiences” capabilities. Come on Samsung, we have given you a lot of business; we deserve this treat.

It won’t be wrong to say that the storage revolution has brought the internet age to its maximum potential and fueled a new age economy. Now Sandisk has performed a feat that will find a place in the history books.

Sandisk has launched a SD Card that has an incredible storage capacity of 512 GB. This card will be a boon to camera professionals as they can shoot their high data-intensive 4K videos with ease. It will also come in handy to photographers who want to do  high-speed photography.

  • Samsung Takes On Apple Again With New Attack Ads

Samsung Takes On Apple Again With New Attack Ads

Apple has for long been the king of attack ads. The famous Mac ads starring Justin Long, which went viral before people knew what viral videos were. The company took jabs at Microsoft’s Vista operating system. But it seems Apple has met its match in Samsung, its top competitor in and out of court.

Samsung has recently started baiting Apple. The company had recently brought a campaign calling iPhone user’s “Wall huggers” targeting the phones low battery life. Apple released its new iPhone this week, and Samsung was ready with a barrage of new ads.

This time Samsung went on a serious offensive and brought out six ads taking on Apple. The Ads are titled, “It doesn’t take a genius” and are set in a replica of Apple’s genius bar. The satirical ads are meant for Samsung’s latest Flagship, the Galaxy Note 4. They target every aspect of the new iPhone, from the botched Livestream of the launch event to the lack of S-Pen for the iPhone.

The attack ads also take on the new Apple watch. The tagline in the end says ‘The next big thing is already here” a reference to their Samsung Note 4 and the new Gear S.

The ads are fun to watch and hopefully Apple will buck up and get back into the game of attack ads. If there’s one thing viewers love is a good old battle of wits. So the balls in your court Apple, show us what you got!

But behind the scene there were some cool new gadgets showcased at the event that were drowned in the immense limelight that was being showered on these devices. So here we list out five cool innovations that you need to check out.

    1.    LG 8K TV:

While the world is struggling to bring more content for 4K displays, LG has taken a giant leap in display technology by bringing the world’s first 8K TV. The resolution on this TV is so profound that you’ll say it’s criminal that there is hardly any content that will do justice to the screen. The 98-inch 8K TV has 16 times the resolution of a Full HD screen. The TV is still in its beta stage so it will be a while before it comes to the market.

    2.    Samsung’s Bendable TV:

This is one innovation that will get anybody awestruck. A massive OLED TV that bends at a click of a button. The massive 105 UHD screen costs a titanic sum of $260,000. You don’t even need 3D glasses with this TV; the mammoth size is enough to give you an immersive experience. Innovation-wise, this is at par with the Note Edge. Seems after some lazing out, Samsung is back in the game to win.

    3.    Sony Portable Short Throw Projector:

    Sony Short Throw Projector

Sony’s Short throw projector is capable of turning any surface into a display. It is a miniature version of the 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector which took details on a projection screen to the next level. The Cube shaped, portable short throw projector can be wall mounted or just kept on the table. The device projects a 23-inch image, and you can watch all your content on it from images to movies. It is also waterproof so you can keep it on your kitchen top and use it for your recipes. The best part is that, as it’s a short throw projector; it is close to the surface it is projecting on, hence, there are no interrupting shadows on the display. This one is a winner from Sony.

    4.   Om/ONE’s Levitating Speaker:

Taiwan-based Aswy and another company called OM/ONE have brought something straight out of a sci-fi movie. Meet the levitating speakers. These speakers are placed above a magnetic stand that keep them stable while levitating above them. They can easily be spun around too. These Bluetooth enabled speakers also have a USB port in the base stand. This is one cool toy to have next to your lava lamp and trippy posters.

    5.    4K Blu-Ray Discs:

This is something that a lot of folks were waiting for, a disc that does justice to the resolutions of the expensive 4K displays that people have been buying lately. It will be a boon in countries like India with crawling internet speeds where 4K streaming is just not possible at least for a considerable future. There is an added advantage to using physical discs instead of depending on the internet that can be disrupted because of a number of causes. The exciting bit of these discs will be their compatibility with the present Blu-Ray players, so it doesn’t add the excess cost of buying a new player. Blu-ray is one of the last remaining physical content delivery mechanisms, and this 4K push will keep it valid for a while.
