However, just before the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, Xiaomi has blatantly confirmed the launch of the Mi Mix 2S on Twitter.

A lot of smartphone makers like posting teasers before the official launch. However, Xiaomi has gone ahead and spilt the beans on its MWC 2018 plans. The company will be launching the Mi Mix 2S with the Snapdragon 845 on March 27th in China. The timing of the move is interesting since we are just a few hours away from the launch of the Galaxy S9 and S9+, which will be the first ever smartphones to run on the Snapdragon 845 chipset.

This time around, the Mi Mix 2S will have a dual-camera setup, which could be similar to the one found on the Mi A1, albeit of better quality.

The Android 6 Marshmallow came with the option to ask permission to use certain features of the phone. The Android P will take this to the next level with additional control over the microphone, camera, and internet accessibility. However, MIUI has this option from last four years.

    Solving the OS fragmentation issues

Starting with the Android P with the help of Project Treble, Google will push faster OS updates to more smartphones. In fact, smartphones like the Honor View10 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro are expected to be the first set of smartphones to support Project Treble.

    More customisation options

The Android P is expected to offer more customisations, compared to the earlier versions of the Android operating system. Google might release the Google Pixel launcher for the general public. As of now, the Pixel launcher is limited to a small number of smartphones. Though it is available on Google Play store, it is incompatible with most of the smartphones.

Oppo R15 Is Another iPhone X Lookalike With A Display Notch

The Apple iPhone X was launched in September 2017 to enormous anticipation. For weeks leading up to the launch, there were hints that the iPhone X won’t look like a regular iPhone. The launch confirmed that as the iPhone X was unveiled with nearly bezel-less design and notch on the display. While the notch received mixed reviews at the beginning, it has since then, become very popular.

    Apple
    iPhone X

The Oppo R15 looks like another Android phone trying to go the iPhone route. New leaked images of the device reveal that R15 will have a nearly bezel-less design but, with a notch on the top. The notch on the Oppo R15 does look to house the front-facing camera and the earpiece. However, it doesn’t look like it will have any of the hardware similar to what the notch on the iPhone houses.

The company has stuck to its older design for the back of the smartphone. In fact, it resembles the Oppo R11s.

A recent rumour speculated that Android P might natively support the notch. Therefore, there have been speculations that the upcoming Google Pixel 3 and the Google Pixel 3 XL might come with a notch with the iPhone X-like Face ID setup.

    Specifications:

The Oppo R15 is expected to feature a 5.8-inch QHD+ OLED display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the smartphone might be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Oct-core chipset with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage.

While the iPhone X was met with scepticism, it has since then, become a fan-favourite. However, smartphones like the Huawei P20 Lite, P20 and P20 Plus are expected to be launched with an iPhone X-like notch as well. It begs the question, is the display notch, the answer the design problems of future completely bezel-less smartphones?

  • Moto G6 Specifications Leaked

    Moto G6 Specifications Leaked

The recent leaks and rumours about the Moto G6, Moto G6 Play and Moto G6 Plus are hinting towards the launch of these phones at MWC 2018. However, the company has not made any announcements pertaining to MWC 2018.

The upcoming Moto G devices are expected to have an 18:9 aspect ratio. In fact, these will be the first few smartphones from Motorola to feature a modern design with thin bezels.

    Credits: Geekbench

The Geekbench listing reveals that the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Octa-core processor with the base frequency of 1.8 GHz. The phone scores 709 points on a single core and 3582  points for the multi-core performance.

The only chipset that matches the above equation is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450. This seems accurate considering the Moto G5 was launched with the Snapdragon 430 chipset. However, these are still leaks and nothing can be said concretely.

    Specifications:

The Moto G6 is most likely to have a 5.7-inch 2160 x 1080p IPS LCD display. Under the hood, the smartphone, as mentioned in the listing, will be powered by the Snapdragon 450 chipset with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.

The Moto G6, in all probability, will run Android 8 Oreo out of the box. However, considering the recent behaviour of other OEMs, it won’t be surprising to see the Moto G6 running Android 7 Nougat. The device is expected to feature a 3000 mAh battery with Turbocharging capability.

The device will have a dual 12 MP + 5 MP primary cameras with an 8 MP front-facing camera.

Therefore, the Moto G6 and its siblings need to have their pricing spot on to compete in the Indian market.

  • Huawei P20 Lite Listed on TENAA

Huawei P20 Lite Listed on TENAA

Huawei is expected to launch the Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 LitePlus at a launch event in Paris in March 2018. However, the P20 Lite will be launched at MWC 2018. A smartphone has been listed on the TENNA website which could possibly be the Huawei P20 Lite.

Two smartphones were listed on TENAA with a slightly different model number EML-AL00 and EML-TL00. These models could be two variants of the same smartphone, the P20 Lite. As is with a lot of TENNA listings, there are not many details mentioned in this listing as well.

    Details of the listed smartphone:
    Huawei P20 Lite Leaked Image

The listed smartphone comes with a metal unibody design with a Huawei logo at the bottom. The smartphone also has a dual camera setup with Leica branding. The Leica branding is reserved for the Mate and P series smartphones from the company, this might suggest that the leaked smartphone is indeed a Huawei P20 Lite.

The listed smartphone even has an Apple iPhone X like notch, which might house the necessary sensors for Face Unlock. However, it might just have a dual front-facing camera like the Honor 9 Lite.

The smartphone is expected to be powered by Huawei’s in-house HiSilicon Kirin 970 Octa-core chipset with at least 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The device is expected to offer Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with EMUI skin on the top.

    Conclusion:

The Huawei P20 Lite will be one of the three smartphones that the company will launch in a space of one month. While the company’s own facial recognition technology seems interesting, the smartphone’s design will be a huge talking month. However, if Huawei does come up with Face Unlock for the P20 Lite, the notch would seem justified.

The 2nd Gen AirPods are expected to have water or splash resistance, which can survive a splash of water or rain. However, they will not be “swim-proof” like the 4th edition Apple Watch.

The newer AirPods will be designed by the same team which designed Apple HomePod, so we might also expect improved sound quality with long-lasting battery life.

    Conclusion:

Apple AirPods have been the most successful wireless earbuds so far. In fact, according to a report, 85% of the wireless earbuds market is dominated by the AirPods.

Features like wireless charging and tighter Siri integration will surely make for another great pair of wireless earbuds. And probably, this time around, the AirPods will be slightly smaller in size as well.
