Motorola has always had excellent success with its G series smartphones. The Moto G series phones are always placed in a category around the Rs. 15000 price bracket making them a good value proposition. This category has however become crowded recently and while Motorola did launch the Moto G6 recently, the Moto G6 Plus is a phone that Motorola loyalists look forward to. The phone was already announced earlier this year so there remains little to speculate about. The Moto G6 Plus is expected to hit India within the next two weeks considering the company has begun teasing the phone.

The Moto G6 Plus has a 5.9 inch 18:9 aspect ratio display with a 2160 x 1080px resolution, finally bringing it up to speed with widescreen devices. The phones also use Corning Gorilla Glass 3, as both the front and back of the phone now have glass. While the global variant of the G6 plus was launched with a Snapdragon 630 chipset, India is expected to get a different spec variant possibly with Snapdragon 660. The Xiaomi Mi A2 which launched recently with a Snapdragon 660 is also expected to launch in India on the 8th of August.
The Moto G6 Plus continues the camera legacy of the plus variant with a 12 MP, f/1.7, dual pixel sensor paired with a 5 MP, f/2.2, depth sensor. the front of the Moto G6 Plus gets a 8 MP, f/2.2 sensor. Both the front and rear cameras will get an LED flash. The Moto G6 Plus has a 3200 mAh battery and irrespective of what version of the Snapdragon chipset the India variant gets, will have Qc 4.0 charging support. The phone will also be available in two variants at the least one with 4GB of RAM and 64 GB of onboard storage. While the other variant will have 6GB Ram and 128 GB storage. Moto could launch more options for India, for example the 4GB could be launched with both storage options of either 64GB or 128GB.
The Moto g6 Plus while priced around Euro 300, in the European market, is expected to launch in India starting Rs. 15000 for the lowest spec variant. While the fully loaded variant is expected to hit anywhere from Rs. 18,000-20,000. The phone will be an Amazon exclusive with sales beginning almost immediately after launch.
The year 2018 has given the world a ton of exciting new smartphones so far. With smartphones like the OnePlus 6 and Huawei P20 Pro, the anticipation of what’s to come in the future is really high. OnePlus managed to essentially sell more than Rs. 10 Crore worth of devices in the first ten minutes during the OnePlus 6 flash sale. Then the Huawei P20 Pro came in and disrupted the market with a triple camera setup. Naturally, we had to compile a list of the top upcoming smartphones in the next couple of weeks.
1. Oppo Find X
The Oppo Find X is expected to release in India on July 12th and is expected to have a hefty price of Rs. 78,500. Oppo has managed to catch a lot of attention with the Find X. Even though it is not the first device without a notch and an almost bezel-less a display, Oppo Find X is still an exciting smartphone.
The way Oppo got rid of the notch, was by introducing a motorized part which eloquently hides the front and rear cameras. The Oppo Find X features a 6.42 inch 2340 x 1080 pixel display with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. This translates to about 87% screen-to-body ratio.
The Oppo Find X runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset along with the Adreno 630 GPU. The primary camera on the Find X is in the pop-up mechanism, consisting of a dual camera setup with a 16MP 1/2.6″ sensor and a 20MP 1/2.8″ sensor both with an f/2.0 aperture. The primary camera setup will have Optical Image Stabilization. The front facing selfie camera is also housed in the pop-up mechanism and is a 20MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture.
The Find X has two colour variants namely, Bordeaux Red and Glacier Blue. The interesting design of the phone make it one of the most exciting and worth top upcoming smartphones this quarter.
2. Vivo NEX
Vivo NEX
The Vivo NEX with a similar pop up camera design is expected to launch on 19th July in India starting at a considerably lower price Rs. 47,999. The Vivo NEX is yet another smartphone with an almost entire screen at the front of the device. Here, it uses the same concept of a motorized part for the camera only to achieve a notch-free and a nearly bezel-less display much like the Oppo Find X above. However, Vivo decided to only house the front-facing camera which comes out of the top of the phone and slides back in when not in use.
Vivo Nex With Camera Deployed
The Vivo NEX features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset which is paired with the Adreno 630 GPU. The smartphone sports a Super AMOLED 6.59 inch 2316 x 1080 pixel display with an aspect ratio of 18:9.
The camera setup on the Vivo NEX consists of dual 12MP and 8MP camera with f/1.8 and f/2.4 aperture respectively. The secondary camera is a single 8MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The primary camera on this device also features OIS. A motorized part in a portable device is a risky move, regardless, the Vivo NEX is still one of the most exciting upcoming smartphones.
The BlackBerry Key2 is all set to go on sale from 13th July in the United States and is expected in India Mid-End July. BlackBerry launched the Key2 on June 7th after the KeyOne incurred a price cut. This is again among the exciting upcoming smartphones, and the only modern smartphone with a full physical QWERTY Keyboard.
The BlackBerry Key2 has a 4.5 inch 1620 x 1080 pixels IPS LCD display with an aspect ratio of 3:2. The Key2 is expected to launch in two storage variants; 64GB or 128GB paired with 6GB of RAM. The processing speed is provided by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset and the Adreno 512 GPU, faster than the SoC of the KeyOne. The Key2 sports a relatively large 3,500 mAh battery. An exciting option for those who love tactile feedback.
After being surrounded by rumors and speculations, the Nokia X6 is finally launching Globally on 19th July and is expected to come to India soon after. It could be among the top upcoming smartphones of this month. Nokia has tapped into the notch trend with the X6. Despite its premium look, the Nokia X6 was launched in China at a rather affordable CNY 1,499 ( Approx Rs. 15,500). Hopefully Nokia will keep similar pricing for global and Indian launches.
The Nokia X6 has a 5.8 inch IPS LCD display with 2280 x 1080 pixels and a 19:9 ratio. Because of the notch, the screen to body ratio of the Nokia X6 is approximately 80.3%. The device runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset and the Adreno 509 GPU. Powering the phone is a 3,060 mAh Li-ion battery.
Samsung is ready to launch a new smartphone in its Galaxy Note lineup. The Galaxy Note 9 is expected to arrive on 9th August and it is also one of the top upcoming smartphones. According to some reports, the Note 9 will follow the Note 8 in the design department but, there could be some minor changes in its aesthetics.
As suggested by the Twitter user Ice Universe, the S Pen for the Galaxy Note 9 could be first of its kind with Bluetooth connectivity and will users to control long-range self-timer, control music playback.
We can expect that the Galaxy Note 9 will have a 6.4 inch Super AMOLED display with at least 2960 x 1440 pixel resolution and an 18.5:9 aspect ratio, similar to the one found on the galaxy Note 8. Ice Universe also speculated that the Galaxy Note 9 will pack a 4,000 mAh battery.
Motorola claims that it has sold over 70 million G series phones worldwide and now the company is planning to release yet another G series phone in India, the G6 Plus. The phone is expected to be launched end July.
The Moto G6 Plus has a 5.9 inch IPS LCD display with a 2160 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The Moto G6 Plus might launch in two variants in India, one with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage and the other with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The SoC on the G6 Plus 6GB variant is allegedly going to be the Snapdragon 660 ( for the Indian market) along with the Adreno 512 GPU.
The innovation in the smartphone industry has picked up the pace in the recent years. If 2018 is anything to go by, then the next few years will be very exciting for any smartphone enthusiast. So, stay tuned to iGyaan to also catch the latest tech news and trends.
Lenovo-owned Motorola has had a lot of success in countries like India with its budget smartphone C, E and G series. Last month, the company launched the sixth generation of its highly successful Moto G series of smartphones. The Moto G6 Play, G6 and G6 Plus were launched in Sao Paulo, Brazil and are expected to launch in India early June. A new upgraded variant of the most premium of the three devices, the Moto G6 Plus, has now been leaked ahead of its India launch on 4th June.
An image, allegedly of the Moto G6 Plus shows the smartphones running on the Snapdragon 660 chipset with 6GB of RAM. This could be a new variant that the company will launch in India in order to compete with the likes of Redmi Note 5 Pro and Huawei P20 Lite. Both the Note 5 Pro and P20 Lite have had a successful last start to their stints in the Indian market and Motorola would want to go toe-to-toe in the budget segment. The Moto G6 Plus could be its answer to the two smartphones.
P20 Lite
However, it is worth noting that the image clicked of the Moto G6 Plus is running the AIDA 64 program. This program recognises Snapdragon 630 as ‘sdm660’ which means that this could very well be the regular Moto G6 Plus running on Snapdragon 630 chipset with 6GB of RAM. Popular budget smartphones in India have a 6GB RAM variant and it makes sense that Motorola also launches a 6GB RAM variant of the G6 Plus in India. Since this is a leaked image, we cannot confirm the authenticity of the image by any means.
The Moto G6 Plus has a 5.99 inch IPS LCD display with a 2160 x 1080 px resolution. To the back of the smartphone is a primary 12MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture along with a 5MP secondary sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. The dual-camera setup can record 4K videos at 30fps which even the Redmi Note 5 Pro cannot do. The front of the smartphone houses an 8MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture and an LED flash.
The Moto G6 series is set to launch in India on the 4th of June. The G6 Plus will be the priciest of the three and it’ll be interesting to see if Motorola indeed launches a Moto G6 Plus running on the Snapdragon 660 chipset.
On April 19th, Lenovo-owned Motorola will unveil the next iteration of its highly successful budget lineup, the Moto G6 series. This time around, there are rumours that Motorola will launch three smartphones, the Moto G6, G6 Play and Moto G6 Plus. It appears that the whole G series of smartphones will see an overhaul in design and build quality. Now, live images of the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus have leaked, a day before their official unveiling at an event in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The leaked images also confirm that from the front, there will be no difference between the Moto G6 and G6 Plus. Despite the 18:9 aspect ratio, Motorola has kept the fingerprint sensor on the front of the devices. This means that the screen-to-body ratio of the two smartphones will take a hit but, the trade-off seems fair as a front-facing fingerprint sensor is more convenient than a rear facing one. The front-facing camera will also be accompanied by an LED flash on both the smartphones.
Benchmark scores of the Moto G6 Plus were already leaked, which reveal that the G6 Plus will run on the Snapdragon 630 chipset. Although according to the Geekbench listing the G6 Plus will run on the Snapdragon 660 chipset, the actual low benchmark scores point towards a 630 chipset. The Nokia 7 Plus, which runs on the Snapdragon 660 chipset scores 1640 points on a single core and 5827 points on multi-core performance. Whereas the Moto G6 Plus has scored 866 points on a single core and 4123 points on a multicore performance. The Moto G6 Plus scores are more comparable to the Moto X4 which runs on the Snapdragon 630.
The Moto G6 and G6 Plus along with the G6 Play will soon launch in India as well. If priced competitively, the Moto G6 series would compete with the likes of the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro in India. The launch of the Moto G6 series of smartphones is just a day away and all the details about the three smartphones will be revealed soon.
Lenovo-owned Motorola is preparing to launch three successors to its highly successful range of budget smartphones, the Moto G series. On the 19th of April, Motorola will unveil the Moto G6, Moto G6 Play and the Moto G6 Plus. So far, we have seen a ton of renders and leaked images of the Moto G6 Plus which have revealed a design very similar to the Moto X4. Motorola UK’s Twitter handle has given us a glimpse of what the Moto G6 Plus will look like in a small teaser.
The one thing has been neglected over the past few weeks in the renders is the Moto branding. This time around, the front of the smartphone will have “Motorola” written and not just “Moto.” Another interesting design aspect of the smartphone is the new 18:9 aspect ratio and G6 series will be the first set of Motorola phones to have this taller aspect ratio. However, the company has retained the front-facing fingerprint sensor which is a great move by the company. We are far away from a truly bezel-less smartphone and till then, it is best to use the thin bezels to house the fingerprint sensor.
Another change that has been reported over the past few weeks is in the build quality. The new teaser also seemingly confirms that the Moto G6 Plus will have an all-glass design, very similar to the Moto X4. Even the protruded camera ring resembles the Moto X4 which is great because we loved the design and build quality of the Moto X4. If the Moto G6 Plus is priced at about Rs 16000 in India, it would have a definite advantage over its competitors in terms of build quality. Only the Honor 9 Lite has an all-glass design which is priced at Rs 10999 in India. Popular smartphones like the Redmi Note 5 Pro and Honor 7X have a metallic unibody design.
Moto X4
The power button placed below the volume rockers will also be textured for easier differentiation. The back of the smartphone will be significantly curved from the edges which, in theory, should result in a more ergonomic fit. However, all of that will be confirmed only once we have tested the G6 Plus.
Even though the launch of the Moto G6 series of smartphones in Brazil, we expect all the three devices to launch in India sooner rather than later. Motorola has had a lot of success with its Moto G lineup in India and would anticipate similar success with the G6 lineup, especially with a new build and design. The launch of the Moto G6 Plus is just a couple of days away so stay tuned for all the launch event coverage.
The Motorola G6 series of smartphones are expected to launch in São Paulo, Brazil on the 19th of April. There has been a lot of news and rumours regarding the design, display, and the chipset used on these devices. However, according to a listing found on the latest Geekbench, the Moto G6 Plus is running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, which contradicts with previous leaks that stated the G6 Plus will be running on the Snapdragon 630 chipset.
This looks like a typo, as the Moto G6 Plus was reported to be running on the Snapdragon 630 Octa-core chipset. The single core and multi-core points scored by the smartphone are nowhere near the scored of the Snapdragon 660 chipset. The Nokia 7 Plus, which runs on the Snapdragon 660 chipset scores 1640 points on a single core and 5827 points on multi-core performance. Whereas the Moto G6 Plus has scored 866 points on a single core and 4123 points on a multicore performance. To bring in more context, the Moto X4 running on the Snapdragon 630 chipset has scored 875 points on a single core and 4177 points on multicore performance. This almost confirms that the Moto G6 Plus will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor.
Left To Right: Nokia 7 Plus and Moto X4 running on the Snapdragon 660 and 630 chipsets, respectively.
According to an earlier report, The Moto G6 Plus will have a 5.93-inch 2160 x 1080p IPS LCD display with 2.5D curved tempered glass protection. Under the hood, the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 Octa-core chipset with 4GB and 6GB RAM options.
The phone will have a 12MP RGB sensor and a 5MP telephoto lens on the back. The setup is expected to be different from what we have seen so far from Moto devices. The front-facing camera is a 16MP sensor with a front-facing LED flash.
Motorola’s G series of smartphones are some of the most anticipated budget smartphones in India. The Moto G5 Plus, launched in early-2017 still has one of the best camera performances for a budget Android device. Now, Lenovo-owned Motorola looks all set to launch the new Moto G6 series on the 19th of April at an event in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Right before the launch, new images of the Moto G6 have leaked, yet again revealing the possible design of the smartphone.
According to the leaked image, the Moto G6 will have an all-glass design, similar to the Moto X4. With this device, Motorola is moving away from the metal unibody design to offer a more premium build. The smartphone has an 18:9 aspect ratio display with FHD+ 2160 x 1080 px panel and a 5.7 inch screen size.
According to a previous leak, the phone will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 Octa-core chipset with 3 and 4GB RAM options. The phone will have a dual camera setup with a 12MP RGB sensor and a 5MP depth sensor and an 8MP front-facing camera.
The Moto G6 has a forward-facing fingerprint sensor, located below the Motorola branding, which might double as a one key navigation button. As of now, there is no information on pricing of these smartphones. However, considering Motorola’s pricing pattern so far, these smartphones in India will cost between Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000.
Lenovo-owned Motorola is expected to launch the Moto G6 series of smartphones in Brazil on the 19th of April. The Moto G6 series is one of the most anticipated budget smartphone series from the company, which will compete with the likes of Redmi Note 5, Note 5 Pro and the Honor 7X. According to the latest tweet from the smartphone tipster Roland Quandt, the Moto G6 Plus will have a 5.93 inch FHD+ 2160 x 1080 px IPS LCD display. Interestingly, the smartphone has a front-facing fingerprint sensor, similar to the Moto G5s Plus and the Moto G4.
The leaked image of the alleged display panel for the Moto G6 Plus reveals an 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone might have prominent bezels on the top and bottom of the device with a Motorola logo on the bottom. The display unit has a cutout for an earpiece, front-facing camera and a front-facing flash unit. Additionally, the leaked display panel also has a camouflaged cutout for sensors like ambient light and proximity sensors.
The company has seen a lot of success by offering latest stock Android operating system and the brand might continue the same with the Moto G6 series as well. Similarly, the smartphone might run on Android 8 Oreo out of the box with no third party customisations. The Moto G6 series of smartphones might have an all-glass design, similar to the Moto X4.
Lenovo has sent out a press invites in Brazil for an upcoming launch. According to the invite, Motorola is holding a launch event on the 19th of April, where the company is expected to unveil the Moto G6 series of smartphones. Like a typical press invite, it says ‘save the date’ and doesn’t specify any products. However, the invite has a green background, which is similar to the wallpapers of the leaked G6 series of smartphones. Considering the success of the G series in India the company might launch the smartphones in India soon as well.
Along with the Moto G6 series, the company might also launch the Moto E5 series as well. The upcoming Moto G6 and E5 series will be very important to the company’s portfolio. In fact, these mid-tier devices will account for the majority of the sale numbers in the company’s portfolio.
The Moto G6 series has three phones, the Moto G6, G6 Plus, and G6 Play. All three phones have a premium full glass unibody design, similar to the Moto X4. Additionally, these are the first set of Moto smartphones to have an 18:9 aspect ratio display.
In the G6 lineup, the Moto G6 Plus will be the priciest of the lot. The smartphone has a 5.93 inch FHD+ 2160 x 1080 px IPS LCD display, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC. Similarly, the Moto G6 has a same 5.93 inch FhD+ display with 2160 x 1080px IPS LCD display, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset. These devices have a dual primary camera setup with a 12MP RGB sensor and a 5MP depth sensor.
The Moto G6 Play will be a budget offering, which has a 5.7 inch HD+ 1440 x 720 px display. Under the hood, the device has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 Octa-core chipset. However, unlike the G6 and G6 Plus, the play moniker has a single 13MP camera.
Moto G6 Plus is an upcoming mid-tier smartphone from Motorola. This is one of the first Moto G series devices to have a glass back, glass front and a metal mid-frame. Similarly, this is also one of the first Moto phone to have an 18:9 aspect ratio display. The device has a Moto X4 like design with a dual rear camera setup and a side-way placed fingerprint sensor.
A year after its official launch, the Moto G5 Plus continues to be a solid offering from Lenovo Moto. The smartphone had one of the best of camera performances in its price point. However, this time around, the company will introduce a dual-camera setup, like the Moto G5s Plus. In the past couple of weeks, the Moto G6 series has been leaked a few times. Motorola is expected to launch the Moto G6, G6 Play and G6 Plus in the coming weeks in markets like India.

Roland Quandt, a trusted leaker has posted multiple images of the marketing material of all the three phones. The image of the back of the Moto G6 Plus confirms that it will indeed have a design similar to the Moto X4 with a glass back and purported dual-camera setup. Along with that, the leaked images confirm that all the three smartphones will have thin bezels and 18:9 aspect ratio. The “Motorola” branding will replace “Moto” and the “M” logo at the back is expected to house a fingerprint sensor.
Moto G6 Plus Specs

The phone has a 12 MP RGB sensor and a 5 MP telephoto lens on the back. The setup is expected to be different from what we have seen so far from Moto devices. The front-facing camera is a 16MP sensor with a front-facing LED flash.
The smartphone will run on close to stock Android 8 Oreo OS. However, the Moto G6 Play which was spotted earlier had a ZUK UI on top of Android 8.0. So, it is very early to make any kind of assumption on the type of Android the smartphone might come with. However, it seems unlikely that Motorola will move to a custom skin considering the success it has had with stock OS.
The Moto G6 lineup has been in the news a lot lately. We recently covered the design leaks of the Moto G6 and G6 Play Now, official renders of the Moto G6 Plus have been leaked. The image reveals that the Moto G6 Plus will have an 18:9 aspect ratio display similar to the Moto G6. Additionally, the leak also specifies that the smartphone will have an all-glass design with a dual camera setup. The leaked image has a date mentioned on its wallpaper as April 3, which could be the launch date of the mobile. However, that is unlikely since the company has not hinted at a launch event so far.
The smartphone looks like a vertically stretched out version of the Moto X4. On the front, the device has a narrower bezel with a Motorola logo and a fingerprint sensor. Additionally, on the up top, the phone has an earpiece, front-facing camera and an LED flash.

We often see flagship features trickle down to mid-range devices. In 2017, we saw flagship smartphones with 18:9 aspect ratio display. Similarly, the latter part of 2017 saw devices like the Honor 7X with an 18:9 aspect ratio. 2018 will see more budget smartphones with an 18:9 aspect ratio and the Moto G6 series will be no different.
These smartphones are expected to feature a premium glass design similar to the Moto X4 and are expected to be launched soon. In fact, the entire Moto G6 lineup has been certified by NBTC and TKDN in Thailand and Indonesia.

The recent leaks and rumours about the Moto G6, Moto G6 Play and Moto G6 Plus are hinting towards the launch of these phones at MWC 2018. However, the company has not made any announcements pertaining to MWC 2018.
The upcoming Moto G devices are expected to have an 18:9 aspect ratio. In fact, these will be the first few smartphones from Motorola to feature a modern design with thin bezels.

The phone scores 709 points on a single core and 3582 points for the multi-core performance.

Motorola has been doing well in the Indian market. In fact, its smartphones like the Moto G5s Plus and Moto G5 Plus are some of the best selling smartphones. Therefore, the Moto G6 and its siblings need to have their pricing spot on to compete in the Indian market.

So, it is very early to make any kind of assumption on the type of Android the smartphone might come with. However, it seems unlikely that Motorola will move to a custom skin considering the success it has had with stock OS.
Conclusion:
Motorola has been consistently launching great devices in India. However, companies like Honor and Xiaomi have also launched a few good smartphones since the Moto G5s Plus was launched. However, Motorola will have to make sure its devices are power-packed and have a competitive price tag in India.
