    Unboxing The OnePlus 6

OnePlus has finally lifted the curtains off of the OnePlus 6 at an event in London. The OnePlus 6 will launch in India on May 17th where the pricing details will be announced. The OnePlus 6 follows up the successful OnePlus 5T, which was launched in November, about five months after the OnePlus 5 launch. Makes you wonder whether the OnePlus 6T is just around the corner!

The base model of the OnePlus 6 is priced at US$ 529 (Rs 35,800 approx.), the 8GB RAM/128GB model will retail for US$ 579 (Rs 39200 approx.) while the 8GB RAM/256GB storage variant will cost you US$ 629 (Rs 42500).

OnePlus has really made the OnePlus 6 a feature-packed smartphone, addressing the main complaints that users had with previous OnePlus smartphones. Even before the launch, OnePlus confirmed that the new flagship device will have an all-glass design and even have some sort of water resistance.

    [section label=”Initial Impressions”]

Just like every other OnePlus smartphone, you do not get any earphones inside the box. OnePlus has, however, launched a new pair of Bluetooth earbuds which should be available in India soon. The moment you take the OnePlus 6 out, you realise that this isn’t anything like a previous OnePlus device. The smartphone has a glossy finish thanks to an all-glass design. The aluminium frame gives it a solid build, maintaining a superior build quality we have known OnePlus smartphones to have. The back of the device is a fingerprint magnet and it is strongly suggested that you use a case or a skin.

The 3.5mm headphone jack retains its place on the bottom of the smartphone next to the USB C port. The OnePlus 6 is now water resistant as well but, the exact rating has not been confirmed yet. The alert slider has been shifted on the right-hand side with the power button, while the volume rockers sit on the left-hand side.

The OnePlus 6 has a 6.28 inch Optic AMOLED display with a 2280 x 1080 px resolution. The aspect ratio is 19:9 which means it is slightly taller than the OnePlus 5T. The notch has also become very common among Android smartphones but, users will have an option to hide the notch via software.

The 6 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset which has an octa-core processor clocked at 2.8GHz. Coupled with the flagship chipset is either 6GB or 8GB of RAM with three storage options of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. The storage is still not user-expandable just like every other OnePlus device. The fingerprint sensor is still placed on the rear but, it has a more oval shape this time around.

Powering the device is a 3300 mAh battery with DashCharge support. DashCharge continues to be one of the fastest charging technologies and could be the reason why OnePlus did not think that wireless charging was necessary here. Out of the box, the OnePlus 6 will run Android 8.1 Oreo with OxygenOS on top. The smartphone will have gesture support which we tested on the OnePlus 5T during its Beta test.

The OnePlus 6 has a dual-camera setup on the back similar to the OnePlus 5T. The setup includes a 16MP Sony IMX 519 sensor and a 20MP Sony IMX 376K sensor. Both are RGB sensors and have an f/1.7 aperture with OIS, another first for a OnePlus device. The cameras also record 4K videos at 60fps which is a great feature for content creators. To the front of the smartphone is a 16MP Sony IMX 371 sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and EIS which records 1080P videos.

We will be testing out the OnePlus 6 in details for our full review. The Honor 10, launched on May 15th, also has a glass back and a dual-camera setup. Would like to see a comparison between the two smartphones? Let us know in the comments!

  • OnePlus 6 Officially Launched Starting US$ 529

    OnePlus 6 Officially Launched Starting US$ 529

After months of leaks, the OnePlus 6 has been unveiled. The young Chinese smartphone maker took to stage in London, one day after the Honor 10 launch to reveal the new flagship smartphone which will launch in India tomorrow on May 17th. The OnePlus 6, as expected, will be available in three variants, one with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, one with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and the third with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The base model is priced at US$ 529  (Rs 35,800 approx.), the 8GB RAM/128GB model will retail for US$ 579 (Rs 39200 approx.) while the 8GB RAM/256GB storage variant will cost you US$ 629 (Rs 42500 approx.).

The OnePlus 6 has a lot of ‘firsts’ for OnePlus flagship smartphones. Even though the OnePlus X had a glass back, the OnePlus 6 is the first flagship smartphone from the brand to have an all-glass design. One thing worth noting here is that the OnePlus 6 doesn’t support wireless charging, despite the glass back. The dual-camera setup is now placed vertically as opposed to the iPhone 7 Plus-style horizontal placement on the OnePlus 5/5T. Then there is the infamous notch which can be hidden through software but, already has a polarising opinion among reviewers and consumers alike.

The OnePlus 6 has a 6.28 inch Optic AMOLED display with a 2280 x 1080 px resolution. The aspect ratio is 19:9 which means it is slightly taller than the OnePlus 5T.

The company has announced that users will be able to download Android P Developer’s Preview from the OnePlus website soon.

OnePlus has stuck to its guns in terms of optics. The company dropped the telephoto lens with the OnePlus 5T and replaced it with another RGB sensor. The same is the case with the OnePlus 6. The company believes that its software can take good enough portrait modes (a feature that has become popular over the past two years). The dual-camera setup includes a 16MP Sony IMX 519 sensor and a 20MP Sony IMX 376K sensor.

The OnePlus 6 is marginally pricier than the OnePlus 5T. It will be interesting to see how the pricing in India is affected at the launch event on May 17th. Stay tuned for all the India-specific details about the OnePlus 6!

  • OnePlus 6 Official Price Leaked Ahead Of May 16th Launch

OnePlus 6 Official Price Leaked Ahead Of May 16th Launch

The OnePlus 6 is one of the many smartphones launching in the month of May. We have already seen the launch of the LG G7 ThinQ, Xiaomi Redmi S2 while the Nokia X, Apple iPhone SE 2 is also expected to launch this month. There isn’t much left to know about the OnePlus 6 as several leaks have revealed what to expect from the device. However, Amazon Germany appears to have leaked the official price of the OnePlus 6 just a few days before its launch.

According to the Amazon listing, the OnePlus 6 will be available in 64GB and 128GB storage variants. This is odd, considering the OnePlus 6 is also expected to be available in a 256GB storage variant. The OnePlus 6, according to the website, will be sold for 519 Euros (Rs 41000 approx.) for the base model and 569 Euros (Rs 45000) for 128GB storage variant. The pricing around the world is a little complicated and this doesn’t mean that the direct conversion to INR will be the price in India. Different regions have different taxes and rules, hence the price varies. The price of the OnePlus 6 is expected to start at Rs 34999 in India.

The Avengers Edition will also be launched along with the OnePlus 6 and is expected to be available in just the 256GB storage variant. Considering OnePlus’ pricing strategy for the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition, the Avengers Edition could be marginally pricier than the regular 256GB storage variant.

A lot seems to have changed with the OnePlus 6. The metallic back will be replaced by a glass back which means we could see wireless charging as well. The smartphone will have a notch on the display which hasn’t pleased everybody. However, OnePlus has conceded that there will be an option to hide the notch via software.

The flagship smartphone will launch on May 16th in London followed by its India launch on May 17th. The smartphone will go on sale on May 21st via Amazon exclusively.

The OnePlus 6 is just a few days away from launch as the company is going all out to promote it. • OnePlus 6 Will Record Super Slo-Mo Videos

OnePlus 6 Will Record Super Slo-Mo Videos

The OnePlus 6 might rectify a lot of issues that users had with previous generations of OnePlus smartphones. The company has been teasing all the new features that we will see on the OnePlus 6 and it appears that OnePlus is not done yet. The Chinese smartphone maker took to Twitter once again to tease a camera feature of the soon to be launched OnePlus 6.

The video is recorded in slow motion and the caption read, “Let’s slow down time! This poppin’ teaser requires your full attention.” This hints at the OnePlus 6’s slo-mo recording capabilities. The smartphone might record 960 fps videos at 720P, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Huawei P20 Pro. With the Galaxy S9, the smartphone only records 0.2 seconds of the video in 960fps. Users can pick select the time to trigger super slo-mo recording or set a box wherein, any movement within the box will trigger super slo-mo recording. With the Huawei P20 Pro, there is no option to set a specific time to set for the super slo-mo recording.

It will be interesting to see how OnePlus implements the technology. The smartphone will have a dual-camera setup with two RGB sensors. OnePlus dropped the telephoto lens with the 5T and does not appear to be interested in bringing it back for the 6. It is also likely that the smartphone will record a small portion of the video in 960fps, similar to the Galaxy S9 and Huawei P20 Pro.

Amitabh Bachchan, the brand ambassador of OnePlus recently tweeted images of himself with OnePlus co-founder, Pete Lay. Interestingly, both of them were holding the OnePlus 6 in their hands. he subsequently deleted the images but, not before a lot of people had already taken screenshots of the images.

The OnePlus 6 will launch soon and is expected to be priced at Rs 34999 for the base model which is a slight increase over the OnePlus 5T. However, considering the new features the smartphone will have, consumers might not complain too much about the price hike. We will keep you posted on all the developments happening with the OnePlus 6.

Its successor, the OnePlus 5T was launched in November and the company was expected to follow the same launch pattern for its 2018 lineup as well. However, OnePlus 6 will launch on May 16th, more than a month before it was anticipated. With the launch a few days away, an interesting image of the OnePlus 6 has been leaked, revealing both the colour variants of the device.

Pete Lau, co-founder of OnePlus and Amitabh Bachchan, the brand ambassador of OnePlus in India were seen talking about the OnePlus 6 as someone clicked a photo of the two. Pete Lau is holding a white OnePlus 6 while Mr Bachchan has the black colour variant. It is hard to recognise where the photo was taken but. But, the image was posted to Twitter by Mr Bachchan himself and has deleted the images after arguably leaking the OnePlus 6.

A previous leak suggested that the OnePlus 6 256GB variant could cost a whopping Rs 48999, however, OnePlus claimed that to be untrue.

It is worth noting that True-Tech.net, the source of this report accurately leaked the price of the OnePlus 5 before its launch in July 2017. OnePlus Teases OnePlus 6 Avengers Edition

OnePlus has once again teased its upcoming flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 6. This time around, it isn’t a feature, but, the OnePlus 6 Avengers Limited Edition which will launch along with the regular OnePlus 6 in India on May 17th.

Following the overwhelming success of OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition, OnePlus and Disney have further bolstered their relationship with the announcement of OnePlus’ partnership with Marvel Studios in light of the upcoming release, Avengers: Infinity War.

A few days ago, OnePlus confirmed its partnership with Marvel Avengers: Infinity War, an upcoming superhero film that, in fact, releases today in India. However, in that announcement, the Chinese smartphone maker did not explicitly mention an Avengers-themed OnePlus 6. The new teaser released by the company now confirms the smartphone. The teaser shows glimpses of the movie and barely gives anything away about the smartphone. However, it appears that the OnePlus 6 Avengers Edition could have a glass back with a Carbon Fibre finish. A one-second shot of the device shows a Carbon Fibre-like back panel, which was one of the back panels users could buy for the OnePlus One and OnePlus Two.

This could be possible, considering the company brought back the famed Sandstone finish on the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition. OnePlus Confirms That The OnePlus 6 Will Have A Glass Back

The launch of the OnePlus 6 seems closer than ever despite the company keeping the launch date under wraps. OnePlus has, slowly, unveiled a few key details about the OnePlus 6 over the past few weeks. OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei started it off by confirming the OnePlus 6 will have an iPhone X like notch. Now, Pete Lau, the other co-founder of OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 6 will have a glass back.

This will be a departure from previous OnePlus devices which have had an aluminium unibody build and design. The OnePlus X being the only exception which also had an all-glass design. According to OnePlus, its team design team tested over 70 glass prototypes before selecting the best one.

OnePlus 6’s glass back contains five printed layers of Nanotech Coating, a first in the smartphone industry. The phone has five layers of Nanotech Coating instead of three, even though the degree of separation between each layer is extremely subtle and tough to discern as the additional layers give the back of the device a stronger impression of depth.

In the statement, however, OnePlus did not confirm whether a glass back also means the presence of wireless charging. Last year, OnePlus conceded that it believed DashCharge technology was superior to wireless charging. However, with such a drastic design shift, it appears that OnePlus would want to justify that by adding such a crowd favourite feature.

The OnePlus 6, so far, seems like a sizeable upgrade over the OnePlus 5/5T. OnePlus has also confirmed that 6 will be water resistant. This is another feature that a lot of consumers have asked for but, so far, OnePlus has maintained that its DashCharge technology is superior to the current wireless charging technology.

The smartphone has also been confirmed to be an Amazon exclusive smartphone in India, like its predecessors. However, like it did with the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T, the 6 will also, eventually, make its way to offline stores as OnePlus is now trying to capture a market that strays away from shopping online.

We expect OnePlus to unravel a few more details about the upcoming smartphone before its official launch. Stay tuned for more updates.

Amazon India Confirms OnePlus 6, Enables Notify Me

Amazon India in a Statement has confirmed that the OnePlus 6 will be launched soon and will be also available in India. The statement comes directly from the e-commerce giant who has been the exclusive online partner for OnePlus since the launch of the OnePlus One.

Calling it one of the most anticipated smartphone of 2018 the exclusive page for the notification will go live tonight at 11:59:59pm.

The statement also confirms that the OnePlus 6 will have Snapdragon 845 paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Also, according to Amazon the display “offers more screen without compromising on size” which also confirms the notch.

The OnePlus 6 is said to be available in India mid- May 2018 for a price starting Rs. 39,999. While this may put the brand out of the “Flagship Killer” territory and more in to the “Flagship” territory. The company is focused more on marketing and brand awareness which is also leading to a big hype for the upcoming OnePlus 6.

The OnePlus 6 is said to have an all glass design with a composite Aluminium frame, possible inclusion of wireless charging and a dual camera setup at the back. While the phone will have a notch, much like the Huawei P20 pro, users will be able to disable the appearance of the notch by making the status bar completely black, something, that should work well with the AMOLED display fo the OnePlus 6.

Stay tuned for more updates for the India Launch.

OnePlus 6 Launches in India May 18th Staring Rs. 39999

Update: The source story has been taken down as OnePlus has claimed that this information is false.

OnePlus has been dropping a few helpful hints in the puzzle that is the OnePlus 6. The company recently confirmed its partnership with Avengers: Infinity War which could mean a special edition OnePlus 6 will launch as well. The one thing we are not certain about so far is the date of launch. There have been a lot of rumours about a possible late-April launch which would make sense, since the Avengers: Infinity War releases on April 27th worldwide. However, a new report has claimed the OnePlus 6 won’t launch in India until mid-May.

    OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition

According to the report, the 6 will launch on the 18th of May in India at a starting price of Rs 39999. This contradicts a previous leak which claimed it will start at Rs 34999 in India. There will also be a special edition called the OnePlus 6 Premium, which will have 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, and is expected to be priced between Rs 44,999 – 48,999. The special edition Avengers OnePlus 6 might be available in just the 256GB storage variant. It is worth noting that OnePlus has so far, not teased a 256GB storage variant for the OnePlus 6.

The OnePlus 6, so far, seems like a sizeable upgrade over the OnePlus 5/5T. In the latest tweet by OnePlus’ official account, the company has seemingly confirmed that it will be water resistant. There are also rumours the OnePlus 6 will have an all-glass design which means the company could also introduce wireless charging. This is another feature that a lot of consumers have asked for but, so far, OnePlus has maintained that its DashCharge technology is superior to the current wireless charging technology.

The smartphone has also been confirmed to be an Amazon exclusive smartphone in India, like its predecessors. In an advertisement being shown at Cinemas in India, the last slide reveals that the 6 will be an Amazon-exclusive smartphone. However, like it did with the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T, the 6 will also, eventually, make its way to offline stores as OnePlus is now trying to capture a market that strays away from shopping online.

The launch of the OnePlus 6 seems nigh, and the anticipation around the smartphone is increasing by the day. If priced similar to the OnePlus 5T, the OnePlus 6 could be a great flagship smartphone for 2018. Stay tuned for more updates.
