    Echo Plus 2nd Gen

The Echo Plus is a hands free smart speaker and this is the second generation of the device. Connected to the Amazon assistant Alexa, it performs a variety of task which make your day to day functioning easier. The Echo Plus sports a new look over the previous generation and looks more premium. Weighing in at around 780 grams, the device is pretty compact and will fit in any corner of your house. The Echo Plus can connect to not only your smartphone but also all the other smart devices present in your home. This gives you the ability to control the lights, ACs, microwaves and any other device which is compatible with Alexa.

Essentially being a speaker, the Echo Plus has premium speakers powered by Dolby, which play ‘360 degree’ audio and claims to offer crisp vocals and a dynamic bass response. The device is integrated with 7 far-field microphones so that it can hear you with clarity even if you are on the other side of the room.

With Alexa integration, the device can play music, answer your questions, sort your calendar, make and sneer calls and send messages. It also performs advanced activities such as ordering a cab, ordering food and tell you jokes.

    Echo Dot 3rd  Gen

The Echo Dot on the other hand, can perform all the functions the Echo Plus can. The only difference is the fact that it is as the same suggest, really compact. The devices weighs in at around 300 grams. The Echo Dot has 4 far-field microphones to hear you through a noisy environment.

Both the devices have physical buttons for controlling them. The devices also feature a 3.5 mm audio jack to be used as a conventional speaker.

  • New Apple iPad Pro And Apple Pencil 2 Set To Launch

New Apple iPad Pro And Apple Pencil 2 Set To Launch

While most expected to see the iPad Pro to launch along with the iPhone XS and the Apple Watch 4 at Apple’s special event, we were disappointed. However, fresh ‘evidence’ suggests that the iPad Pro will be releasing later this month and we can expect quite a few changes from it. The possibility of a new MacBook, AirPods 2 and even the AirPower charging pad are high.

Also Read: Samsung Galaxy A9 Launched With Five Camera Setup

Apple has reportedly registered new iPad models and a new Bluetooth device with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). This tells us that we can expect not only the new iPad Pro but also the Apple Pencil along with it, which could be the bluetooth device in question. According to a website, Apple has registered A1876, A1980 and A1993 . These registration numbers are similar to those spotted earlier in a Apple file in the Eurasian Economic Commission.

    Specifications

Drawing from previous leaks and renders, the iPad Pro will launch in 12.9 inch and a 10.5 inch variants. It will have LCD panels. The device looks starkly different from previous generation of iPads with thin bezels and the lack of a home button, which hints at the presence of Face ID. The images also show the lack of a headphone jack and a new placement for the Smart Connector, which is towards the bottom middle, on the back. This placement is different and could be because Face ID does not work when you place the device horizontally.

The iPad Pro runs on an unreleased ‘A12X Bionic’ chipset from Apple, according to rumours. This chipset is faster than the A12 Bionic seen in the current iPhone models. It is made using the 7 nm process which might take the battery life and performance of the device to another level. The devices have 4 GB of RAM, with storage options of upto 512 GB.

The launch of the iPad Pro could be towards the end of this month. This time frame also coincides with the launch of the iPhone XR, so it would be a convenient slot for Apple. While there is no confirmation, we hope to see the launch of a new MacBook, the AirPods 2 and AirPower which Apple has been holding back for so long.

  • Insta360 Launches ONE X Camera With 5.7K Video Capture

Insta360 Launches ONE X Camera With 5.7K Video Capture

Major players in the industry like Samsung, Nikon, Kodak, LG  have tried their hands on a 360 degree camera. However, it still hasn’t taken off as expected. Insta360, which is a China based company has been a major influence in this sphere. They recently launched the Insta360 ONE X with loads of unbelievable features. These include 5.7K Video + 18MP Photo which allows the user to get great output images as well as videos. The FlowState Stabilisation works great when walking and shooting. Apart from that it also has Cinematic Slow-Mo, WiFi Preview & Transfer, TimeShift and HDR.

Also Read: LG V40 ThinQ Launched With Five Cameras

It shoots video in three different resolutions – 5.7K at 30 fps, 4K at 50 fps and 3K at 100 fps. We feel a perfect slow motion needs to be more than 100 fps and we hope the company improves on the same in their next generation cameras. As we all know, when shooting in a 360 degree camera, sometimes the camera overexposes the parts with more light and underexposes parts with less light or vice versa. The HDR mode promises to solve this problem in the ONE X. The Invisible Selfie Stick feature hides your selfie stick from the shot when showing you the final 360 degree output.

    [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVrnYOFEBOA[/embedyt]

It also has a drifter accessory that looks like the paper aeroplanes we all loved and made in school. The camera can be put inside the accessory and thrown when shooting action shots like skateboarding, roller blading and so on. One can control the video timings and slow or speed up certain parts. The ONE X also shoots hyperlapse videos. This camera suits the active lifestyle as well, with features like recording GPS data, on-screen stats like speed, altitude, direction etc. The camera also provides a unique perspective when using the Bullet- Time accessory. This accessory is like a selfie stick that can rotate. It takes rotating shots from the top of your head to provide amazing videos with you in the centre of the action. This accessory is available for $39.99. The ONE X camera costs $ 400, nothing is known about its availability in India as of now.

Google Launches The New Home Hub With Nest Integration

Google has launched a new addition to their Google Home devices called the Home Hub. It is a tablet/dock hybrid smart device with a built-in screen. The device can run most Google apps like weather, YouTube, etc. The Home Hub can directly play videos from YouTube. Instead of controlling different smart devices from their proprietary apps, the Home Hub can control them from a unified interface.

    Features

Google has intentionally skipped the addition of a camera to the Home Hub. They believe some users might feel uncomfortable in front of a device that is directly pointing a camera towards them. The Google HomeHub has a “Voice-Match” feature. With this feature, the Home Hub can determine which member of a family it is interacting with it. And it will give out results based upon the member’s preferences and relevance. It also has Nest Integration. It can be pulled by a simple swipe from the top of the screen which allows viewing the status of different smart devices across your home. With this feature, Home Hub can remotely control Nest and other smart devices.

Google Home Hub also acts as a digital photo frame and displays pictures taken from the android phones or google cloud of the home-owner. The smart device will come with a 6-month free subscription of Youtube Premium which is an ad-free version of video streaming service.

    Price & Availability:

The Google Home Hub has a price tag of 149$ (Rs 11,000 approximately). It is available for pre-order starting today on the Google online store. Samsung Launches Three New Wireless Headphones

Samsung has launched a new lineup of AKG wireless headphones. Samsung has unveiled three new headphones, whose highlight is the ability to control how much ambient noise you can hear.

The devices are from AKG acoustics, which is owned by Samsung. Samsung partnered with Harman, which is its subsidiary, to deliver these innovative devices. The lineup consists of the N700NC, Y500 and the Y100 which are optimised for balanced and studio quality sound, according to the company.

  • The Apple HomePod Is Getting 5 New Features

The Apple HomePod Is Getting 5 New Features

Although the highlight of the Apple Special event last night was the lineup of new iPhones, Apple did manage to slip in a little bit extra. The Apple HomePod is going to be receiving a few new features. These will probably bring it up to speed with its competition in the smart speaker segment.

The update involves increasing the capability of Siri with respect to the HomePod. Other than these features, Apple has also added support for a few languages in the HomePod. The device now supports Spanish in the US, Spain and Mexico and expands support in Canada with Canadian French.

With Siri on HomePod, you can also access these new features:

    Apple HomePod Siri

Search by lyrics: Until now, users could ask Siri to play a specific song. Now, you can ask Siri to play any song. Even if you can’t remember the name. Just say “play the song that goes like this…” and Siri will do the needful.

Set multiple timers: This is a big boon for those who are working on a project with multiple steps or someone setting up for a big dinner party. With multiple timers, you can ask Siri to keep you on track for getting that cake out of the oven, making sure you switch on those new lights and much more.

Make and receive phone calls: Now, HomePod lets you make and receive calls directly. You can also ask Siri to know who called incase you missed a call. To make a call, you can speak out a number or the name of the person you want to call.

Find my iPhone: This feature lets you ping for your iPhone in case you cannot figure out where you left it. This is already available in the Apple Watch.

Siri Shortcuts: HomePod users will now be able to set multiple actions into play with just one command. This is pretty similar to Alexa and Google Routines. What this means is you can program Siri to perform multiple actions using a single command. For example, “Hey Siri, good morning” is a single command. With this Siri could order your morning coffee, turn on your kitchen lights and share your calendar appointments for the day.

The launch date for this update is not known. It is expected around the time the iOS 12 is rolled out. That is on 17th September. Apple has not announced the update for India.

  • Apple iPad Pro 2018 Leaked

    Apple iPad Pro 2018 Leaked

The upcoming Apple iPad Pro 2018 has been leaked with full specifications and detailed renders. The iPad Pro is expected to launch in a 12.9 inch and a smaller 10.5 inch variant at the upcoming Apple Launch Event.

    Design:

From the very first glance we can see that the iPad Pro 2018 is starkly different form its earlier variants. We can see the lack of a home button, a sharper design and thin, uniform bezels around the device.

The absence of a home button could hint at the fact that the device is getting a true depth camera and Face ID.  Other than this, the lack of a headphone jack is also noted on these renders. The charging port is at the bottom middle of the device. However, this is right below the Smart Connector, which is placed on the back.

The Smart Connector is used to pair the iPad Pro with a keyboard to increase usability. The move to shift the Smart Connector to the bottom could be because of the fact that Face ID does not work horizontally. Therefore, the new iPad Pro might be used vertically, even for typing.

    Specifications:

Two variants, the 12.9 inch and 10.5 inch iPad Pro are expected this year. However, it is reported that neither of them will have an OLED, rather they will have an LCD panel.

The iPad Pro 2018 is also reported to run on the new A12X chipset. According to rumours, the A12X is going to be made using the 7nm technology which boosts performance and increased battery life. However, the devices are expected to have 4 GB of RAM, with varying storage variants going up to 512 GB.

    Additional Features:

The new iPad Pro will continue to offer Apple Pencil support, according to reports. The slimmer bezels will mean that the iPad Pro 2018 will be smaller in size, despite the same screen size as its predecessor.

    Launch and Price

The iPad Pro 12.9 2018 is expected to be launched at Apple’s annual Keynote event. The event will be held on 12th September. Reports place the 10.5 inch variant to start at Rs 54,999 and the 12.9 inch variant to start at Rs 64,999.

With the increase in internet traffic, the risk of falling victim to malicious threats has also increased. It has become rather unmanageable to keep up with all the security protocols, even simple tasks like changing passwords regularly can be an ordeal.  The lack of user safety and the number of increasing threats put your private data at risk. Google claims that it has kept its employee data safe since 2017 without ever facing a leak since. The company has been using a hardware encryption key called the Titan Security Key. Google is now selling this Titan Security Key to anyone who seeks a safer internet experience.

How Does The Titan Security Key Work?

Instead of using a method of one-time codes via text message, with the Titan Security Key you just have to tap a button on the key. So, it works is just by replacing the hassle of trying to enter codes every time you want to log into a new machine.

Titan Security Keys work with many devices and apps, support FIDO protocol, and are built with a secure element and a firmware written by Google that verifies the integrity of security keys at the hardware level. Security keys are recommended for all users for stronger protection against phishing, enforcing security keys for admins and other high-value users should be the first step.

  • Awesome Tech- An Airbag For Your Smartphone

Awesome Tech- An Airbag For Your Smartphone

After aluminium unibody design dominating the industry for a while, glass builds are taking over. From affordable flagship smartphones like the OnePlus 6 to the premium iPhone X, an all-glass build is the new gold standard in smartphone design. However, with a premium look and feel, also comes the danger of shattering that glass. While there are cases that can protect smartphones from damages to a certain extent, they aren’t foolproof.

A new “active damping” case acts as an airbag for your smartphone. Created by Philip Frenzel, an engineer at Aalen University in Germany, this clever case pops opens up to protect your phone when you drop it. His idea won the award from the German Society for Mechatronics, which considered projects from students all over the country.

    Watch the video here

Frenzel’s idea behind this case was maintaining the phone’s aesthetic while providing the necessary protection. Most secure cases are very bulky and it becomes hard to recognise your phone when it is lathered in a tough plastic case with ugly patterns. With active damping case, there isn’t a layer of unattractive protection in your face all the time. Instead, it enters a safety mode just as it starts free falling to the ground.

After juggling between different ways to protect the phone, Frenzel finally arrived at a very interesting solution. As seen in the video, he went ahead with a set of eight thin metal curls that normally lie flat inside the case. When the phone is released, they pop out and curl up, protecting the edges of the phone from impact. This considerably softens the blow compared to a flat contact with the concrete.

The case looks interesting and in the video, at least, effective. It is yet to enter a production stage and there is still no Kickstarter or Indiegogo page for it. We could be a while away from this case hitting the shelves.
