  • LG G Watch R, Moto 360 to Reportedly Face a Price Cut on Google Play Store

LG G Watch R, Moto 360 to Reportedly Face a Price Cut on Google Play Store

It seems smart watches are on a price-slashing spree. A few months back, Motorola’s Moto 360 smartwatch got a price cut of $70 on Amazon and Best Buy. Now, Google Play too is said to be offering the smartwatch at a bargain, bringing down the cost to $180, permanently.

    NEW_MOTO_360_8

To go along with it, LG’s G Watch R also received a $50 price cut, bringing the new price to $250. LG announced its new G Watch R smartwatch in August, and it’s one of the most elegantly designed smartwatches we have seen. The link to buy the products has currently been taken down, but it should be up shortly.

    LG+G+Watch+R

The Moto 360 has been one of the most-wanted wearables in the market. The Moto 360 has a 1.65 inch display that is protected by Gorilla Glass. The water-proof watch runs on Android Wear and gives timely updates based on the location like weather, traffic, time, reminders, etc.

It is very likely that the price cut has been done to clean out space for new inventory of premier smartwatches.  Motorola has been rumoured to be working on a Moto 360 successor which boasts a 360×360-pixel screen. Although, nothing has been confirmed till now.

  • LG G4 vs LG G3: Is it Worth the Upgrade?

LG G4 vs LG G3: Is it Worth the Upgrade?

Finally, LG has released its long awaited flagship today at an unveiling event held in New York and London simultaneously. Here, we will have a look at the major differences between the LG G3, which was released last year in May, and the G4. Comparing notes to answer ‘What is the real difference?’

From the specs point of view, the 5.5-inch QHD resolution G4 is packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with 3GB RAM. It has 32GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 128GB.  It has a 13MP camera along with f/1.8 aperture, color spectrum and optical image stabilization. The 8MP front camera also has a f/1.8 aperture. Connectivity options include LTE-Advanced support, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC.

Let us compare the newly-launched device with its predecessor below:

    SPECIFICATION LG G3 LG G4
    Display 5.5 inch QHD1440×2560 resolution 5.5-inch Quad HD LCD display 2560 x 1440 resolution
Processor 2.5 GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 with X10 LTE
    RAM 3GB 3GB
    Primary Camera 13MP 16MP
    Front Camera 2.1MP 8MP
    Storage 32GB 32GB
    Expandable Up to 128GB 128GB
    Battery 3100mAh 3,000mAh
Operating System Android 4.4 KitKat Android 5.1 Lollipop with LG UX 4.0 on top
Price Rs. 37,500 Not Yet Revealed

From the table above, we can see that there is not much difference between the two handsets. The G4 is primarily taken the lead on the camera specifications, especially the front camera. The G4 has won the race by featuring an 8MP front camera as compared to G3’s 2.1MP front shooter. The screen size remains the same, except that the G4 packs a higher resolution than the G3. The only spec where the G3 is above is in the battery department. But then, how much difference can 100mAh make? The display, camera and the processor specifications may make the LG G4 a good choice over the LG G3.

The pricing of the G4 has not been revealed yet, and it will be available in the Korean market from tomorrow. Details of its availability outside have not been disclosed. Keep checking iGyaan for new updates.

Rumour Roundup : All That We Know About LG’s Next Flagship Smartphone

The upcoming phone by the Korean electronics manufacturer LG is the current hot topic. The smartphone is expected to compete with Apple’s iPhone 6 and Samsung’s Galaxy S6. While the company officially unveils the LG G4 on 28th of this month, let’s walk you through the speculations about the next LG flagship.

The new G4 by LG is said to feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560×1440) display. This was officially stated by the display manufacturing unit of the company. The phone will come with a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor along with 2GB and 3GB RAM options. The 2GB variant will have 16GB storage space, while the 3GB RAM model will come with 32GB onboard storage capacity, both expandable up to 128GB. The phone will have Android 4.4.4 KitKat installed with the company’s UX 4.0 UI.

A video released by LG narrates that UX 4.0 sports a lot of features like Quick Shot, Smart Board and Smart Notice 2.0 along with Smart Calendar app and Super Fast Gallery.

    lg g4

The camera specifications include a 13MP rear shooter with Optical Image Stabilization and Laser Auto Focus Dual Flash. The front will boast a 2.1MP snapper. The company recently teased the camera specification of the device which confirms that the G4 will feature a camera of aperture f/1.8. A sufficient 3000mAh battery will fuel the device.

LG G4 will come in nine different back panels, out of which three are standard, and six are crafted back panels made of real leather. The colour options include yellow, brown, silver and more.

Over a week back, LG accidently opened the LG G4 website that uncovered the above-mentioned details. Though, we can’t consider them as final until LG officially brings out the device. Let’s wait and watch if this device finds a niche in the over-flooded smartphone marketplace, where many affordable phones are ready to take on the high-end flagships.

  • Here is How You Can Test the LG G4 Before its Official Launch in India

Here is How You Can Test the LG G4 Before its Official Launch in India

A good news for LG enthusiasts, LG Electronics India will be selecting a handful of Indian consumers to test out the new LG G4 smartphone before its official launch on April 28th. This is being done as a part of the company’s consumer experience campaign in India.

The individuals will be selected based on their entry responses. The chances of being selected will increase when application experiences are shared on different social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter. Once selected, a LG G4 handset will be given to the winning participant for 30 days, and they will be given a list of assignments to carry out during the testing period.

[quote text_size=”small” author=”Mr. Amit Gujral” author_title=”Marketing Head, LG Mobiles India “]

A smartphone doesn’t solve its purpose if it tops all the speed and benchmark tests but fails to satisfy the consumer needs. Realizing this, LG India is bringing this exciting and unique way to get our most important mobile product of the year, the LG G4, close to the consumers. I hope that the consumers like this offering by LG and participate in large numbers in this programme.

The Korean firm had slipped out details of their latest flagship in bits and pieces. From the teasers made official by the company, we can conclude the LG G4 will boast an all-new interface UX4.0 with a f/1.8 aperture camera. • LG’s New Design Patent Shows a Futuristic Smartphone-Watch Hybrid

LG’s New Design Patent Shows a Futuristic Smartphone-Watch Hybrid

We can all agree that the modern day design of smartphones have reached a standstill. Slowly tech industry giants are looking to develop futuristic devices with dual-bending display. Case in point – the bendable LG G Flex 2 and the dual-edge Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Another significant advancement that the firms are now aiming at is a bendable phone that can be wrapped around the wrist. Seems like LG may have overcome a major hurdle in making the hybrid wrist-phone concept a reality.

The Korean consumer electronics manufacturer has been granted a patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) that speaks of a phone and watch combination. The design patent gives a perspective view of a smartphone that can be bent at the ends to wrap around the band. It turns the band into a smart device that has the smartphone as a screen. Such a smart band would be nothing but a huge bracelet with an enormous screen.

Other images suggest that the smartphone can be docked onto the band or bracelet, transforming your hand into a portable phone holder. The patent doesn’t mention the mechanism behind securing a giant screen onto a wristband, but surely there has to be a locking system to keep it fixed.

LG has two bendable devices in its catalogue, G Flex and G Flex 2. At this point of time, it would be too early to say if this model is feasible as there are many hurdles building such a prototype. First of all the SoC (system-on-chip) has to be extremely thin and compact to fit in the thin band, then there are many other primary issues like paper-thin battery, which is a dream yet to achieve.

  • LG Mistakenly Reveals All There is to Know About the G4

LG Mistakenly Reveals All There is to Know About the G4

The Korean smartphone manufacturer LG has scheduled the official unveiling of its next flagship for April 28. But after this leak, we don’t think there’s much left to wait for. The reliable leaker, Evan Blass (@evleaks), discovered a yet unannounced LG G4 microsite that uncovers most of the concealed details about the handset. The site (now removed by LG) gives sufficient official renders of the handset from almost all angles and many other details of the upcoming flagship.

The site suggests that the unannounced LG flagship will have swappable leather back, which will come in multiple shades and styles. The image speaks of nine different back panels, out of which three are standard, and six are crafted back panels made of real leather. The shades of the leather back plates would be subtle brown, dark blue, maroon, silver, yellow and sky blue, while the textured traditional backs would come in white, grey and silver colour options. The leather back plates have a fine detailing of fiber weave running down the middle.

Evan added the fact that the G4 was under works with the codename LG P1.

Meanwhile, the Korean firm has been slipping details of LG G4 in bits and pieces. The past week, the electronics firm made public two teasers revealing crucial details about the forthcoming device. The teaser videos conveyed LG G4 will boast an all-new user interface UX 4.0 and feature a camera of aperture f/1.8. The leak unfolds more about its features and mentions that UX 4.0 sports a lot of features like Quick Shot, Smart Board and Smart Notice 2.0 along with Smart Calendar app and Super Fast Gallery.

Before this, LG’s display manufacturing department claimed that the next LG flagship will have an enhanced 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560×1440) display. The leaks confirm that the fourth smartphone is G series will have a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and will come with 2GB and 3GB RAM options. The 2GB variant will have 16GB storage space, while the 3GB RAM model will come with 32GB onboard storage capacity, both expandable up to 128GB. The device will have 3000mAh battery and will run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

The camera specifications include a 13MP rear shooter with Optical Image Stabilization and Laser Auto Focus Dual Flash. The front will boast a 2.1MP snapper.

  • LG Teases its Upcoming Flagship in a New Video, Reveals Crucial Camera Detail

LG Teases its Upcoming Flagship in a New Video, Reveals Crucial Camera Detail

Amid all the speculations about the upcoming LG flagship, the Korean electronics titan has made public a new teaser video. The 42 second video clip doesn’t let slip much about the device, however it reveals one important detail. The LG G4 will feature a standalone f/1.8 camera aperture, giving it a (very) slight edge over the Samsung Galaxy S6. The firm has yet again used the video to reiterate the launch date of LG G4 as April 28.

This time, LG is not relying on leakers and the company itself is teasing LG G4’s features bit by bit. Before this, LG announced that the device will boast a Quad HD display and few days later, a video sharing little details of the fresh user interface UX 4.0. The latter one gave a fair idea of the upcoming elements and its smartness.

    lg_g4

As the video announces, the LG G4 features an aperture of f/1.8, which means that aperture opening is wide enough for more light to reach the sensor. The teased aperture puts back many high-end smartphones like Galaxy S6, HTC One M9, iPhone 6 and Sony Xperia Z3, whose camera aperture size is smaller than the G4. Along with that, the video demonstrates the same camera module as found on the previous iteration.

The smartphone is expected to sport a 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440) display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage space. Running on Android 5.0 Lollipop, the device flaunts a new interface, UX 4.0, that gives an all new appeal to the handset. It is said to pack a 15MP rear shooter and a 7MP camera upfront.

It’s likely that the tech giant will tease more features of the smartphone ahead of the official launch. Keep checking back for updates on the LG G4.

  • LG Teases its New User Interface Ahead of the G4 Launch

LG Teases its New User Interface Ahead of the G4 Launch

The South Korean equipment manufacturer LG is forcing spotlight on itself, by revealing information about the LG G4 bit by bit. A recent disclosure by LG’s display manufacturing department claimed that the G4 will have an enhanced 5.5-inch Quad HD display and now LG has officially announced the arrival of its ultra-advanced user interface, UX 4.0.

A teaser video publicized by LG exhibits the UX 4.0 as a step towards making UI friendly to customers. The clip depicts quite a lot of features that seem to be a step in the right direction. The Quick Shot feature allows users to click photos instantly. One doesn’t need to unlock the screen first and surf into the vast array of apps to start a camera. Just tap the volume button twice and the camera will be ready to shoot.

    LG-UX-4.0

The camera comes with various camera modes along with Expert mode that is claimed to have DSLR-like qualities. This mode is said to use geo-location to group photos into an album taken at a single location.

Then there are a few other smart injections like its updated Calendar app, Gallery, Smart Board and Smart Alert. With the Calendar on LG G4, users can drag and drop any event to Calendar from their social networking site. The refurbished Gallery now lets you commemorate memories by grouping them according to date or location.

    lg ux4.0

The Smart Board feature accumulates information from various apps within your device like Calendar, heath and music, and throws them on a single widget as collective information. The Smart Alert is where the smartness of the new UX 4.0 gets apparent. It not just notifies users about the weather, but also gives suggestions depending on the climatic conditions. Which means it will suggest you to go for a swim, play basketball, go for cycling on a sunny day.

Nevertheless, we would be able to see UX 4.0 in action only with the launch of LG G4 on April 28. Till then, here’s the official teaser:

LG Confirms the G4 Will Come With a 5.5-inch Quad HD Display

Much has been spoken about LG’s next flagship, but till now they’ve only been rumours. However, an official confirmation has arrived from the display manufacturing unit of the company which confirms that a newly-developed Quad HD LCD panel will be fitted on to LG’s forthcoming flagship.

LG Display brought out a 5.5-inch QHD IPS panel that offers a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels. The pixel density stands same as LG G3, at 538ppi, but the company claims that the new display technology offers richer and more accurate colour quality. As compared to the 100 percent gamut of the latest available LG smartphone, the upcoming device display would have a 120 percent colour range.

    lg g4

Also, the contrast ratio of the next LG flagship is enhanced by 50 percent as compared to the standard QHD LCD panels, while brightness is upped by 30 percent. The modifications help users have a better view of the screen especially under bright sun. It should be noted that the display upgradations would not hamper the battery consumption at all, and users can experience better display with the conventional battery of the device.

More details about the LG G4 will unfold on its official launch on April 28. Keep checking back for updates.

LG Brings the World’s First 105-inch 5K Television to India at Rs. 59,99,900

Today, LG announced the nation-wide release of the world’s first 105-inch 5K television in India. This television beast was first showcased back at CES last year and comes at a price of Rs. 59,99,900. The device was showcased as a part of the company’s annual tech show in New Delhi.

The MD of LG Electronics India Soon Kwon stated India as one of the important market places and said –

India is a strategic market for LG. So we have been thinking in terms of a product mix based on global products as well as locally designed products. This is important to stay ahead.

Being 5K, the picture quality of the mammoth television is quite high. The gigantic screen offers a more realistic viewing experience. With a CinemaScope aspect ratio of 21:9, users can frame their movies with authentic cinema formatting and can remove the black bars from top and bottom.

Meticulous approach has been  adopted to the audio quality of the 5K television. The 7.2 channel surround sound solution rated at 150W is equipped with the massive piece, designed by audio specialists Harman Kardon. The smart TV runs on Web OS and comes along with the Magic Remote. The curved display uses an IPS panel and incorporated LG’s True 4K Engine Pro. This allows the Smart TV to eliminate ‘visual error’ and even upscale low-res videos to almost HD  level.

Apart from the 5K television, LG has announced the release of LG G Flex 2 in India.
