  • LG Will Launch A Rebranded LG G7 In June 2018

LG Will Launch A Rebranded LG G7 In June 2018

LG is working on a new flagship smartphone with the code name Judy. Smartphone tipster named Evan Blass has shed some light on the upcoming flagship offering from Korean smartphone maker.

Though this is a successor of LG G6, it will have a new name and will not be called as LG G7. The G6 was one of the first flagship smartphones that featured 18:9 aspect ratio with a nearly bezel-less design. The outdated processor  ( Snapdragon 821) on G6 didn’t leave enough room for the device to make an impact.

    Judy
    LG G6

This time around, the smartphone maker is taking its time to launch a product with the latest set of hardware. to compete against upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9.

    Speculated specifications of LG Judy:

The Judy is expected to have a 6.1-inch display with a new MLCD+ technology, which offers better brightness compared to a typical IPS LCD panel. The smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Octa-core SoC, paired with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB onboard flash storage.

The MLCD+ is a new display technology, which offers high-level of brightness of up to 800 nits. It does this with less power consumption, up to 30% less than typical LCD panel.

Like with the LG V30, the smartphone will feature dual-camera setup on the back. In typical LG fashion, it will be a combination of a regular lens and a wide-angle lens with an f/1.6 aperture. Like every other LG flagship smartphone, this one will also feature IP68 certification against water and dust resistance. For the first time, the LG smartphone will have a stereo speaker setup, dubbed as “boombox”.

    Conclusion:

Launching a smartphone later in the year makes sense for LG. It also falls in line with the company’s decision to not follow a set launch cycle. The presence of the latest chipset will also help its case. Let’s hope that LG gets the pricing right for this one.

  • LG V30 To Feature ‘Premium Sound Quality And High-End Camera’

LG V30 To Feature ‘Premium Sound Quality And High-End Camera’

LG continues the trend of teasing new features of its upcoming flagship, the LG V30 by releasing another video teaser. In this teaser, LG showcases the ‘premium audio quality’ that the LG V30 will possess. The ‘V’ series has been known to feature top-notch media consumption qualities and LG has admitted that the V30 won’t be any different.

It was earlier reported that the LG V30 will feature a Quad DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) and this video confirms it. LG had paired up with Bang & Olufsen Play, a Danish premium audio brand in the past. The LG V20 retailed with Bang and Olufsen earphones and the G5 had a B&O audio module. The new LG V30 is also expected to feature B&O earphones. The company claims the feature will allow users to optimise their sound simply by touching displays and adjust tone depending on genre. Through the Sound Preset, users can optimise tone into four categories, namely balanced, clear, live and low-pitched. The Digital Filter also allows users to choose echo in three categories: short, slow and sharp.

In a blog post, LG announced that the V30 will have a 6 inch 2880 x 1440 px OLED display. The advantage of an OLED display is the operational response time, which is a lot faster than LCD. This accelerated response time effectively eliminates afterimages, an important consideration for action movies and VR. This, combined with the Quad DAC will make the LG V30 an ideal device for media consumption.

According to LG, the LG V30 will also be the first smartphone to feature a camera unit with an f/1.6 aperture. Compared to the f/1.8 aperture cameras on the iPhone 7Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S8+, the camera on the LG V30 will let 25% more light to pass through. The glass lens also delivers greater light-collecting ability than a plastic lens as well as better colour reproduction. The camera will feature laser detection AF, optical image stabilisation and electronic image stabilisation.

LG confirmed that the V30 will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat with LG UX 6.0+ on top. UX 6.0+ will offer a lot of personalisation options such as the semi-transparent Floating Bar for quick access to frequently used functions. The Floating Bar can be disabled when not needed. The new Always On Display can be customised to display Quick Tools, Music Player or a personal photograph. The LG V30 will also feature new security updates such as facial and voice recognition.

LG will launch the V30 on August 31 at IFA 2017 in Berlin and will go on sale soon after the launch in major European and US markets. The phone is expected to be launched in India in the month of October.

  • This Is The New LG V30

This Is The New LG V30

LG is only a week away from the official unveiling of the LG V30, but that doesn’t put a hold on leaks. The V30 which is set to launch on August 31 at IFA, Berlin has been leaked yet again. The new image shows a press render of the device from different angles the front, rear, and sides.

LG has already announced switching to OLED display with smaller bezels for the upcoming V30. The company also confirmed that the smartphone will include features like the floating bar, facial recognition and pressure sensitive haptics for an “innovative touch experience”. LG previously hinted at V30’s design while confirming the smartphone’s OLED display.

The LG V30 will come with a 6-inch POLED display with display features like floating bar for quick access and always-on display mode. The floating bar feature “inherits the convenience” of the second screen, similar to the earlier models. Whereas, the new Always On Display offers more customisations, display Quick Tools, Music Player or a personal photograph. On the design front, the latest image reveals a slight curve on both a display-covered front and rear of the handset.

LG V30 will house a Snapdragon 835 chipset with 4GB/6GB and upto 128GB onboard storage. The smartphone will run Android Nougat 7.1.1 with UX 6.0+ on top. The UX 6.0+ offers security updates like facial and voice recognition. The phone will be powered by 3,300 mAh battery with wireless charging capabilities. The new render shows a 13MP dual camera setup with an f/1.6 aperture ratio lens and a fingerprint scanner at the back.

According to the latest reports, the $700 LG V30 seems to be giving the 3.5mm jack a miss. Though most of the V30’s details and specs have already been disclosed via either leaks or by announcements made by LG  showing off the new software features, many are awaiting the imminent launch of LG’s V30.

  • LG Confirms The V30 Will Feature Floating Bar And Facial Recognition

LG Confirms The V30 Will Feature Floating Bar And Facial Recognition

LG continues the trend of announcing new features of the upcoming V30 on the company’s blog posts. After revealing that the V30 will feature an OLED display, LG showed off new features including a Floating Bar, Facial and Voice Recognition along with various customisation options.

Earlier this month, LG announced that the V30 will sport a 6 inch OLED display, all but confirming that it is dropping the secondary ticker display which was found on the V10 and V20. The new smartphone will also feature LG’s UX 6.0+ which will offer a lot of personalisation options for a more intuitive user experience. The semi-transparent Floating Bar allows for quick access to frequently used functions and can be dragged completely off the display when not needed. The new Always On Display offers more customisations, it not only shows the clock, but can also be set to display Quick Tools, Music Player or a personal photograph as well.

The UX 6.0+ also features new security updates such as facial and voice recognition. LG has stated that the user can unlock the phone by just looking at it, without pressing the lock button. The voice recognition feature uses Qualcomm’s Aqstic voice UI technology that is always listening for a passphrase consisting of three to five syllables. Lastly, LG touches on the V30’s haptic feedback, which can be customised with various included vibration combinations that can be matched to the phone’s ringtone.

LG has spilled the beans on a lot of features of the V30 just a couple of weeks before its launch leaving little to one’s imagination. Till we get our hands on the flagship device, let’s take a look at what we know about it so far-

  • LG Q6 Goes On Sale On Amazon For Rs 14,990

LG Q6 Goes On Sale On Amazon For Rs 14,990

LG recently teased the launch of the Q6 in India with its edge-to-edge display. And now the phone is available to buy on Amazon at a price of Rs 14,990. The USP of the device evidently is the premium edge-to-edge display with an 18:9 aspect ratio found on the LG G6. The LG Q6 launched in South Korea in three variants – Q6, Q6a and Q6+. LG has decided to launch the variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage in India.

The phone features a 5.5-inch 2160 x 1080 px IPS LCD display with a pixel density of 442ppi and an impressive 78% screen-to-body ratio. The device is powered by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery and runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with LG’s custom skin on top of it. The device packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 chipset with a 1.4GHz octa-core processor and Adreno 505 along with 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage which is expandable via microSD card up to 2TB. The handset lacks a fingerprint sensor but LG has introduced face unlocking feature instead. There is no confirmation on the presence of Corning Gorilla Glass

Resemblance with the LG G6 ends with the display, as it features a single 13MP rear-facing camera with a single LED flash and on the front is a wide angle 5MP sensor. The rear camera records video at 1920 x 1080 px at 30 FPS. LG also claims that the Q6 has US Military Standard-810G Certified which means that it can survive quite a few drops.

The smartphone is on sale at Amazon for Rs 14,990 and is available in three colour variants, Astro Black, Ice Platinum and Terra Gold.

  • LG V30 To Be The First Smartphone With An F/1.6 Lens

LG V30 To Be The First Smartphone With An F/1.6 Lens

LG is set to launch its 2017 flagship, the V30 on August 31 at IFA, Berlin. Although we have seen a lot of leaks and renders of the V30, LG is not shy about shedding some light on its upcoming smartphone either. A few days ago, LG announced that the new phone will be LG’s shift to OLED panels and now, LG has shared a blog post telling us that the V30 will be the first camera phone with an f/1.6 lens. Apart from the official announcements, the LG V30 was leaked due to the company’s own official marketing campaign.

The f/1.6 lens lets in 25% more light than f/1.8 lens on the likes of the iPhone 7 Plus. Besides the wider aperture, the glass Lens also delivers greater light-collecting ability than a plastic lens as well as better colour reproduction. Along with the new construction, the camera will feature laser detection AF, optical image stabilisation and electronic image stabilisation. LG hasn’t made it clear whether both the cameras will take advantage of this construction but it definitely will compete for the best camera phone of 2017. LG has shown that the V series will continue to focus on media consumption. From the V10, which had one of the best cameras two years ago to the V20 which had great sound and now the V30, which presumably has the best lens so far in a smartphone.

LG also recently announced its shift to OLED displays, and that the LG V30 will feature a 6-inch edge-to-edge display, which will be an improvement over the V20’s design. This shift also indicates that LG has prioritised the quality of media consumption on the upcoming smartphone as well as future devices.

  • LG V30 Gets Leaked in LG’s own Marketing Campaign

LG V30 Gets Leaked in LG’s own Marketing Campaign

Every phone launch is preceded with plenty of rumours and renders which are to be taken with a pinch of salt. But rarely does a marketing campaign by the manufacturer of the device, leak its own most anticipated phone of the year. The LG V30 is an exception. If you don’t know it yet, LG and Joseph Gordon-Lewitt, the Hollywood actor/filmmaker has been collaborating to host annual creative competitions that often involve participants filming something with an LG phone for the past couple of years. This year is no different, apparently.

This year, the recent video submissions feature an unreleased phone which is slated to launch on August 31 at IFA, Berlin. Yes, we are talking about the highly anticipated 2017 flagship, the LG V30. This year’s competition ended on July 31st, and the submissions went live on 7th August. The stills from these entries match up with numerous rumours about the V30. The images, although hazy, clearly show a dual-camera setup and a fingerprint scanner at the back, just like its predecessor the LG V20. The more minimalistic and rounded off bezels are also visible in a front-angle image.

LG recently announced that it’s shifting to OLED panels from now and the LG V30 will be the first device to feature one. This will be the key difference between the V30 and the V20, along with a spec bump, of course. The launch of the new flagship is just a few days away now, so let’s take a look at what might be the key specifications of the V30 –

    • Launch: August 31
    • Price : $700 (Rs 45,000 approx.)
    • Display: 6-inch POLED
    • OS: Android Nougat 7.1.1
    • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 835
    • RAM: 4GB or 6GB
    • Storage: 32GB/64GB/128GB
    • Battery: 3,300 mAh battery
    • Fingerprint sensor
    • Camera: 13-megapixel dual-camera
    • Wireless charging
    • ESS Quad DAC

The Joseph Gordon-Lewitt collaboration seems to have put LG’s marketing team in hot waters. The launch is now imminent and we seem to have a clearer picture of what the device might look like.

  • LG V30 Image Leak Showing A Prototype Of The Upcoming Smartphone

LG V30 Image Leak Showing A Prototype Of The Upcoming Smartphone

LG has recently announced that the LG V30 will be the ‘first smartphone from LG to sport a plastic OLED FullVision display.’  The company is expected to launch its V30 flagship in a press event on 31st August at IFA in Berlin.

Following the LG V30’s renders, a leaked image of the smartphone’s prototype has recently surfaced. The image is reported to be an engineering unit of V30. This hands-on photo of the device confirms the widely reported features like the P-OLED display, and the bezel-less 18:9 form factor, similar to this year’s LG G6.

Leaked Image Of The LG V30 Prototype

The picture showcases the V30’s front-facing camera on the top-left and a 6-inch POLED display. By the looks of the leaked image, LG’s claims of reducing the top and bottom bezels by 20 per cent and 50 per cent appear to be true. LG will be replacing the ‘V’ series hallmark feature, the secondary display at the top with a “floating bar.” Speculations are, that the newly introduced feature will work similar to the V10 and V20’s secondary display by revealing the time, date, notifications, etc.

So far, here’s what we know about the LG V30

LG’s flagship device is expected to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Chipset with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage. Along with a POLED display, the LG V30 is rumoured to be powered by a 3,300mAh battery with support for wireless charging. On the camera front, the smartphone will feature a 13MP dual-camera setup along with a fingerprint sensor at the back, much like the other flagships of the year.

Rumoured to be priced at around USD 700 (approximately INR 45000), LG V30 is expected to go on sale about a month after its launch in August, with pre-orders starting on September 17.

  • LG Q6 to Launch In India On August 10 For Rs 14,990

LG Q6 to Launch In India On August 10 For Rs 14,990

LG recently unveiled the Q6, a less powerful variant of the G6 with the same bezel-less FullVision display. And now, LG has announced that the Q6 will launch in India on August 10 at a price of “Rs 1_,990” and will be an Amazon-exclusive. LG launched the Q6 in three variants in South Korea – Q6a, Q6, and Q6+ and might launch the Q6+ in India as the Q6.

The LG Q6 features a 5.5-inch 2160 x 1080 px full HD display with an impressive 78% screen-to-body ratio. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 Chipset with an octa-core 1.3GHz Cortex-A53 processor. The smartphone will be available in 2Gb/3GB/4GB RAM and 16Gb/32GB/64GB onboard storage variants. The onboard storage can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. As stated earlier, India might get the most powerful variant, the Q6 with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage. In terms of optics, the smartphone is equipped with a 13MP single rear camera sensor, unlike the dual-camera setup on the flagship G6. On the front of the device is a 5MP front-facing camera with a wide-angle lens.

The device is powered by a 3,000mAh battery with support for fast charging. The version of fast charging is not confirmed yet. A big omission from the Q6 is the fingerprint sensor, which nowadays is a standard feature even in mid-range devices. LG has also added a facial recognition feature, but its accuracy is for the consumer to judge.

The mid-ranger will be available in Astro Black, Ice Platinum, Mystic White and Terra Gold colour variants. LG might have decided to go with a mediocre chipset and single camera setup, but made up for the mid-range specs with a near bezel-less display. The teaser shared by LG doesn’t confirm the price yet, but the LG Q6 is expected to cost between Rs 17,000-Rs 20,000.

  • Google Pixel 2 Image Leak, Showing Familiar Thick Bezels

Google Pixel 2 Image Leak, Showing Familiar Thick Bezels

Google’s next in the Pixel lineup, the Pixel 2 and the Pixel XL 2 are set to release later this year. Google’s 2017 Pixel smartphones have been at the centre of various rumours for a while now. Though no official announcements have been made yet, the speculations and leaks have offered a good enough idea about how the next flagship devices will turn out to be.

New reports have surfaced, offering further insight to the Pixel 2. The current updates confirm few of the earlier speculations, like the lack of a headphone jack and offer the first live image of the device.

    Google Pixel 2 Leaked Image

The image shows that the Pixel 2, contrary to the past leaks, will adopt a similar design of its predecessor. The top and bottom bezels on the front side remain just as large as last year’s Pixel. Whereas, its larger sibling, the Pixel XL 2 is reported will have have the top bezel cut-out similar to the iPhone 8.

Apart from that, both the Pixel 2 and the Pixel XL 2 are expected to feature a 5-inch and a 6-inch curved glass around the flat OLED display. Speculated to have an improved processor and a single-lens, dual-flash rear camera setup, both the devices will most likely be water resistant and are expected to run on Snapdragon 835 chipset and with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage.

On the design front, the smartphones will have the back panel similar to the Pixel. However, this time the rear has been redesigned to match the Pixel XL’s shorter glass frame that no longer encompasses the fingerprint sensor.

According to the reports, Google’s Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 will be manufactured by LG, whereas, the last year’s Pixel lineup was manufactured by HTC. Despite the change of hands, the upcoming Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 will feature HTC’s squeezable frame. And though the reports of Google ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack seem to be in tandem with the current speculation, the recent image also showcase front-facing stereo speakers in both the devices.

  • LG Confirms Switch To OLED Display For The Upcoming V30

LG Confirms Switch To OLED Display For The Upcoming V30

LG has announced that its next flagship device will be the ‘first smartphone from LG to sport a plastic OLED FullVision display.’ The LG V30 was widely reported to feature an OLED display and this announcement confirms those rumours. LG has specified that it’ll be a FullVision display much like the one on the G6. It’s worth noting that LG will feature POLED technology on a smartphone for the first time since the G Flex 2, which was launched a couple of years ago.

The upcoming smartphone will be smaller than last year’s V20 despite sporting a larger 6-inch display. LG claims to have reduced the top and bottom bezels by 20 per cent and 50 per cent respectively while the LG logo is moved to the back of the device. The Plastic OLED screen on the device means that the edges can be curved for a more ergonomic fit in the user’s hand. Although from the image released, it doesn’t seem like LG has taken Samsung’s route of fully curved edges. A Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which incorporates shatter-resistance technology will protect the screen.

    LG V30 render leaks

The screen resolution will be 1440 x 2880, which translates to a QHD+ display and enhance the device’s VR capabilities. The advantage of an OLED display is the operational response time, which is a lot faster than LCD. This accelerated response time effectively eliminates afterimages, an important consideration for action movies and VR.

Along with a POLED display, the LG V30 is rumoured to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Chipset with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage. The device will be powered by a 3,300mAh battery with support for wireless charging. On the camera front, it will take the G6’s route and sport a 13MP dual-camera setup along with a fingerprint sensor at the back.

The LG V30 is expected to launch at the IFA 2017 in Berlin on August 31. Rumoured to be priced at around USD 700 (approximately INR 45000), it will compete with the soon-to-be-announced Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

According to The Korea Herald, the LG V30 will be the first smartphone by LG to sport an OLED display and next year’s LG G7 will follow suit. The LG V30 will launch with all the flagship specifications like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and 4GB or 6GB of RAM and wireless charging, which may not be available in all markets, much like the LG G6.

LG is known to experiment with smartphone designs like the modularity of the LG G5 or the secondary screen on the original LG V10. However, the LG V30 is expected to launch with a design more in-line with smartphone designs currently in the market.

It is unclear as to when will the LG V30 go on sale, but previous LG smartphone trends suggest that it will go on sale in South Korea first and then make its way into other markets. The LG V30 will compete with the likes of Samsung Galaxy Note 8, the Apple iPhone 8 and the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, all expected to launch in the second half of 2017.

The mesh design quick cover helps the user access the display for minor tasks such as swiping to pick calls up and checking notifications without having to open the cover.

In line with the previous LG Quick Covers that the company has offered in the past, this one too has a small window that shows a part of the screen. For the G5, this small window will give a peak into the Always On mode of the phone which shows the date, time and notifications.

No pricing details for this beautiful looking cover have been revealed as of now.
