Xiaomi Launches Mi Home Projector Lite

Xiaomi has a vast array of products from home electronics, smart home, kitchen appliances, smartphones, televisions, computer appliances – almost everything imaginable. Xiaomi also has had launched projectors in the past, one of which had also won Japan’s 2017 Good Design Award! Now, the company has launched a small portable projector called the Mi Home Projector Lite that can be a perfect fit if you are a movie buff or like to consume your entertainment larger than life. This will be the company’s second projector after the Mi Laser Projector 150 which was released in early 2017.

    Specifications

The projector is a compact long-throw projector which is perfect for smaller houses with relatively smaller rooms. However, the small size does not mean that it is less powerful. The projector can project 1080p images between 40 and 200 inches in size with a native aspect ratio of 1.2:1. It also features 500 ANSI LED lamp that has a life of 30,000 hours. The projector supports HDR10 which is great for viewing quality videos.

The projector also features a built-in speaker, along with Dolby Atmos and DTS support which are all handy features to have. But the most impressive feature is it’s built-in Mi TV functionality along with voice control. The projector supports different kinds of wired input connections and has HDMI, USB and aux inputs. It is quite understandable from the name of the product that Xiaomi is aiming to sell these projectors for homes and not necessarily for workplaces.

The projector however will be only available only in White colour and will be sold in China for the moment. It will be amazing to see this sold in India, but there is no news of that yet. The projector is currently up for crowdfunding and will be available for CNY2199 ($320) which will later increase to CNY2499 ($364).

  • Redmi Note 7 Has A Hidden Feature That The Company Is Not Even Promoting

Redmi Note 7 Has A Hidden Feature That The Company Is Not Even Promoting

Xiaomi has turned Redmi, its most popular lineup, into sub-brand. On 10 January 2019, Redmi launched its first smartphone called the Redmi Note 7. It is a successor to the highly popular Redmi Note 6 Pro. Albeit Xiaomi devices are made with budget focused consumers in mind, the devices have praiseworthy build quality. Same is the case with the Note 7 Pro, even though it is aggressively priced, the smartphone has a laudable feature that the company is not even promoting. A teardown of the device suggests that the device is well worthy of waterproof certification.

    Watertight Seals and Membranes

An up-close image of the innards of the newly launched Redmi Note 7 was shared on Chinese social media site, Weibo which reveals intriguing findings. The images of the dis-assembled smartphone exhibit that it has rubber seals around several components that indeed make it watertight. Blue and Violet colored seals can be easily spotted around the camera modules. 3.5 mm audio jack and even the hybrid SIM card slot. In addition to the watertight seals, the loudspeaker is also protected with a watertight membrane.

Although, it is unclear why is Redmi not boasting about this noteworthy feature on the Redmi Note 7. It is possible that to keep the prices down, Redmi did not opt for any waterproof certification on the device. All in all, it is a great feature that other smartphone manufacturers must definitely take a note of.

  • Redmi Note 7 Vs Redmi Note 6 Pro : What All Is New

Redmi Note 7 Vs Redmi Note 6 Pro : What All Is New

Xiaomi had previously announced that Redmi, it’s most popular series of smartphones will be turned into a separate sub-brand. On 10 January 2019, Redmi launched their first smartphone, the Redmi Note 7 in China. It is the successor to the well knownRedmi Note 6 Pro which was launched last year. The Remi Note 7 seems impressive as such specifications have not been seen on a sub US$ 150 smartphone. Not only did Redmi price the device similar to its predecessor, but the new device also gets significantly bumped up specifications. Here is a list of all the major changes between the Note 7 and its forerunner.

    Camera

The Redmi Note 7, unlike the Note 6 Pro which had four cameras, has three camera sensors. Although Redmi has replaced the dual front camera setup with a single sensor on the new device, the dual rear camera setup gets a massive boost. The rear camera setup of the Redmi Note 7 now consists of an f/1.8 aperture equipped 48 MP camera sensor paired with a 5 MP depth sensor. The 48 MP rear camera uses the Sony IMX 856 sensor which is usually seen on flagship devices like the Honor V20.

    Hardware

In addition to the better camera, the SoC on the Redmi Note 7 is also beefed up. The new smartphone packs the Snapdragon 660 SoC while both the Redmi Note 6 Pro featured the Snapdragon 636 SoC. Even though the Snapdragon 660 and Snapdragon 636 consist of a similar Octa-Core CPU the former has a higher clock speed and better Adreno 512 GPU. The Snapdragon 636 has eight Cores which are all clocked at 1.8 GHz whereas the Snapdragon 660 has two clusters of four cores which are clocked at 1.8 GHz and 2.2 GHz.

    Design

The Redmi Note 6 Pro has a wide notch at the top of the display that houses the dual front cameras and the earpiece. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 7 only has one 13 MP camera which is housed in small waterdrop notch above the display. The earpiece on the new device is built into the top bezel of the front side. Additionally, the rear of the new smartphone gets an all-new back design. Unlike the aluminium back on its predecessor, the Note 7 has a gradient style back panel that seems to be made out of glass.

USB Type-C Port And Quick Charge 4.0 Support

To catch up on the latest industry standard, the Redmi Note 7 gets a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer whereas the Redmi Note 6 Pro has the Micro USB port. Additionally, the latest smartphone also supports Quick Charge 4.0 that enables a device to be charged with up to 18 watts of power.

    Price

The Redmi Note 7 is available in three different variants for which the price is as follows:

    • 3 GB + 32 GB – 999 Yuan  (Rs. 10,500 approx. )
    • 4 GB + 64 GB – 1,199 Yuan (Rs. 12,500 approx.)

The year 2018 was the year of the notch and the Poco F1 also had one, though the notch on that device was thick and wide. The earpiece for listening to voice calls is built into the top bezel of the Poco F2.

Like its predecessor, the Poco F2 also has right side mounted power button and volume rockers. The rear of the new device also gets a redesign treatment. The dual rear cameras along with the LED flash have been shifted to the top left side of the device while the fingerprint sensor is similarly positioned. Xiaomi Foldable Tablet / Phone Leaks, With Triple Folds

Xiaomi was founded in the year 2010 and during this 8-9 year period the company has developed several successful products . The company manufactures a wide variety of products ranging from smartphones to TVs. Strangely enough, the company even manufactures luggage trollies and mobility scooters, among many other everyday items. Though the largest contributor to overall revenue for Xiaomi still remains smartphones.

The year 2019 is believed to be the year of smart devices with flexible displays that can be used as both a tablet and a smartphone. Samsung has already announced that the first foldable Galaxy phone will be launched this year. Similarly, Huawei also has big plans for a foldable smartphone in the year 2019. A video leak reveals that Xiaomi already has a functional foldable device.

    Foldable Xiaomi Device

The leaked video of the alleged foldable Xiaomi device is leaked on Twitter by Evan Blass aka evleaks. The video showcases a foldable tablet that can fold into one third than its original size. The video has been captured in a badly lit environment and the Xiaomi branding was nowhere to be seen in the video. However, the User Interface and the icon pack on the device clearly express that the device runs on Xiaomi’s MIUI 10.

Surprisingly the quality of the foldable display panel looks good and the device when folded transforms into a handheld smartphone. The user demonstrates the Google maps application on the foldable tablet / phone which readjusts when the tablet is folded. The device when in its folded state has curved edges that look reminiscent to the non-foldable Samsung Galaxy Edge smartphones. Like Samsung smartphones, Xiaomi might add some functionality to the curved edges of the foldable device.

    • Mi A2 Lite – daisy_sprout

This piece of information clearly indicates the orchid_sprout is indeed an Android One smartphone. Going by the chronological order, the upcoming smartphone will perhaps be the Mi A3 unless the company is planning another surprise. Alas, the source does not disclose any information about the physical overview or any specifications of the Mi A3. Nonetheless the smartphone will have better specifications than its predecessor, the Mi A2.

    Expectations From The Mi A3
    • Better Camera Performance- The camera performance was definitely a distinctive feature of the Mi A2 and the Mi A3 is only expected to take that performance even further.
    • Larger Battery Capacity- Albeit the Mi A2 has an optimised UI which provides a good battery life, it only has a 3,000 mAh battery and larger capacity would surely be appreciated.
    • Thinner Bezels- The left and right bezels of the Mi A2 are quite thin while the top and bottom bezels are quite chunky. Thick top and bottom bezels just did fine in the year 2018 but to step up the game the Mi A3 must have thinner all around bezels and maybe the small unintrusive water drop notch.

Unfortunately, the launch date of the Mi A3 is also unavailable but it can be launched in the early second half of 2019 as its predecessor was also launched during that time period in 2018.

  • Xiaomi To Launch 48 Megapixel Camera Smartphone This Month

Xiaomi To Launch 48 Megapixel Camera Smartphone This Month

Xiaomi has always been secretive about their phones but are known to tease their customers with snippets. Last month, a top executive from Xiaomi posted a photo of a teaser for a phone that showed the back of the phone and the camera partially. The text under the camera said “48 MP Camera”. The executive also said that the phone would be launched in January of 2019.

    What We Know So Far?

Recently, a new poster has surfaced with the words “Always believe that something wonderful is about to happen” . Another poster hints at the Redmi Pro 2 being launched. Connecting the dots, it seems like the Redmi Pro 2 will be launched at the event. If it is indeed the Redmi Pro 2, it will be the first phone in the world to have a camera with as high a resolution as 48 Megapixel.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 was one of the highest megapixel cameras launched with a 41 MP back camera. The phone image shared by the Xiaomi executive suggests it to have a vertical camera setup with a flash. We also suspect that the phone will have higher storage capacities, specially since higher megapixel cameras shoot images that are considerably large in size. Our guess would be at least 256 GB of storage along with complimentary Mi Cloud storage.

Speculations are rife that the phone will sport a Sony IMX586 48-megapixel sensor or Samsung’s ISOCELL Bright GM1 48-megapixel sensor. What was initially thought to be the Xiaomi Mi 9 might just be the Redmi Pro 2. Given that the first Redmi Pro was launched way back in July of 2016, a new Redmi pro was long overdue! In fact the event isn’t far away at all. It has been organised for tomorrow and we are all hopeful that Xiaomi will start off the year with a bang!

  • Xiaomi Poco F2 Spotted On Geekbench, SD845 And 6 GB RAM In Tow

Xiaomi Poco F2 Spotted On Geekbench, SD845 And 6 GB RAM In Tow

Xiaomi launched the Poco sub-brand earlier this year. The company’s first smartphone, the Poco F1 was initially launched in India and was later introduced in other regions as well. Due to its flagship specifications and aggressive pricing, the device quaked the smartphone market. The latest leak of its successor, the Poco F2 has been spotted on geekbench’s website.

    Poco F2 Geekbench

The Geekbench listing of he Poco F2 was first uploaded on 28 December. The listing reveals information like the processor and RAM capacity of the smartphone. Like its predecessor, the Poco F2 features the Octa-Core Snapdragon 845 SoC that has a base frequency of a 1.77 GHz. The particular device from the listing only has 6 GB of RAM. However, the company might offer the Poco F2 in higher RAM capacities like 8 GB or 10 GB as well. The smartphone runs on the latest Android 9 Pie which is most likely to be skinned with MIUI 10.

The Xiaomi Poco F2 scores a single core score of 2321 points and an multi-core score of 7564. Shockingly both the single-core and the multi-core of the Poco F2 is less than the 8 GB variant of the Poco F1. The 8 GB Poco F1 variant registers a single-core score of 2504 points and a multi-core score of 8174 points. However, it is possible that the preproduction Poco F2 is not optimised for maximum performance. Other key details like the camera resolution, screen size, and the battery capacity will only be released after the official launch of the smartphone.

There is no such thing as a perfect product and same is the case with the Poco F1. Although the Poco F1 packed the latest processor, it fell short in some departments. We expect Poco to fix these issues with the upcoming Poco F2:

    • HD Support- To keep the price low of the Poco F1, the company cheaped out and skipped the Widevine L1 support that disables the users from streaming HD content from Net Flix on their smartphone.
    • Better Build- The Poco F1 might be an excellent value for money smartphone, albeit it has an inferior build quality compared to other flagship smartphones.
    • Better Optimisation- Some might advocate Xiaomi’s MIUI as a comparatively better option to other Android skins. But the unwanted apps and bloatware like random advertisements in the notification tab or while viewing a folder is disliked by most.
    • Better Camera Performance- The dual rear cameras and the single front camera can capture satiable pictures. But the MIUI’s optimation does not do justice with the hardware. As some unofficial vanilla Android ports on the Poco F1 suggest that the cameras on the device are quite capable.
