  • ZenBook 13, 14 And 15 Announced By ASUS In India

ZenBook 13, 14 And 15 Announced By ASUS In India

Since lightweight laptops are the ones ruling the markets these days, ASUS decided to show up with its own answer to all this. It just introduced the latest members of the ZenBook family, which are the ZenBook 13, ZenBook 14 and ZenBook 15. On the user-base side, the three laptops are targeting those users who prefer portability over everything. ASUS has previously released some pretty nice notebooks, so now it’s time to see what the new ZenBooks have to offer.

    ASUS ZenBook 13

The ASUS ZenBook 13 in just 16.9 mm thin. Featuring a 13.3 inch Full-HD display with a NanoEdge design, the ZenBook 13 achieves a 95% screen-to-body ratio. With ultra-thin side and bottom bezels (2.8mm-3.3mm), it claims to be the world’s smallest 13 inch laptop. If you think the small screen at 13 inches is an issue, the display is optimized for 178-degree viewing angles. We think that this makes it a great device overall.

The ASUS ZenBook 13 will be marketed in two variants. The first one will pack a 8th gen Intel Core i7-8565U CPU, which will be clocked at 1.8 GHz. The second variant will pack an Intel Core i5-8265U clocked at the same speed. Both variants will have the 2GB NVIDIA GeForce MX150, and the users can pick either the 8GB RAM or 16GB RAM model. There’s a lot of variety in storage options too, with 256GB, 512GB and 1TB of SSD across these devices.

The ASUS ZenBook will start at Rs. 71,990. The device is expected to last 14 hours on a single charge. Also, it will be available in 2 colour options : Royal Blue and Icicle Silver.

    ASUS ZenBook 14

The next iteration in the ZenBook series is the ASUS ZenBook 14, which will be 0.63 inches thin. The 1.09kg notebook will sport a 14-inch Full HD display, with a 92% screen-to-body ratio. Again, this is possible because of very thin bottom and side bezels. Again, it will be available in the same processor options as the ZenBook 13, with similar graphic options.

The ASUS ZenBook 14 will last up to 13 hours on a single charge, and it will be available at a price starting Rs. 72,990.

    ASUS ZenBook 15

The best variant in the new ZenBook Series, the ASUS ZenBook 15 has a much bigger 15.6 inch screen. Not surprisingly, with a 92 percent screen-to-body ratio. It has two CPU options : An Intel Core i7-8565U (8th gen) processor and Intel Core i5-8265U (8th gen) processor. Backed by the same graphics as the other two notebooks, we think that it will deliver pretty well. Similar storage options as the ZenBook 13 and 14 are available.

The ASUS ZenBook 15 will be priced Rs. 1,39,990 onwards and will be available in the same two colours:  Royal Blue and Icicle Silver Colour Options.

The concept of 5G on the other hand, is in a very nascent stage. Every cellular provider has promised the idea of 5G, but the timeline on when we will see a an actual 5G connection is vague. But it is expected that after many smartphone makers move to 5G modems in their products; we would soon see these providers switching gears and making it readily available.

  • Apple Blocks Google’s Internal Apps On iOS

Apple Blocks Google’s Internal Apps On iOS

Just after a few days of banning Facebook’s notorious internal apps on its iOS, Apple has now blocked Google for the same. The company can no longer run its internal apps on Apple’s platform following a privacy scare. This was reported by TechCrunch and Bloomberg’s Mark Bergen.

The main reason cited behind this decision is Google and Facebook’s use of these apps to monitor users activity. Apple’s move to block Google’s developer certificate comes just a day after Google disabled its Screenwise Meter app following press coverage. Google’s app also relied on Apple’s enterprise program. The program enables the distribution of internal apps within a company.

According to a statement by Google “We’re working with Apple to fix a temporary disruption to some of our corporate iOS apps, which we expect will be resolved soon.” This statement was given to Mark Bergen. Since that, Apple seems to have revoked Google’s apps.

    Facebook’s Beef with Apple

This news comes days after Facebook was caught installing root certificates on iOS devices. These would help the company steal the usage data of the users. This was being done in exchange of an amount up to US $20. Apple also took necessary action against Facebook on the matter.

It was time for Apple to take a stand too, as the issues concerned privacy, a part where Apple claims to stand out. Incidents like these would’ve shown the company in a bad light. Since the news broke out, Facebook, in a statement to Bloomberg said “We can confirm that we have our enterprise certificate restored and we are working on getting our internal apps back up and running.”

  • Samsung Working On A Foldable Gaming Smartphone Claims Patent

Samsung Working On A Foldable Gaming Smartphone Claims Patent

Samsung has confirmed that it will launch a foldable smartphone which is allegedly called the Galaxy F. The foldable phone along with the Galaxy S10 lineup is set to launch at the Galaxy Unpacked 2019 event which is scheduled for 20 February. A patent granted to Samsung suggests that except for the Galaxy F, the company is also working on a gaming oriented foldable phone.

    Rise Of Gaming Phones

The mobile gaming sector is rapidly gaining pace. Gaming smartphones like Xiaomi Black Shark and Nubia Red Magic have proved a market for gaming-focused smartphones exist. Samsung is a competitive company and it apparently wants to get in on the booming industry. Being a leader in the field of technology, Samsung wants to take the gaming smartphones a step further and the freshly granted patent supports the same.

    Patent Revelations

Samsung filed a patent for an unusual foldable smartphone with USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office)  in late 2017 which it was granted on 29 January 2019. The patent exhibits that the company is developing a futuristic gaming smartphone with flexible display and physical gaming buttons.

Surprisingly the gaming phone has a completely different type of folding mechanism. Unlike the Galaxy F, it has an outward folding display which indicates that Samsung is not limiting itself with one type of flexible phone. Notably, the phone also has a foldable gaming bar which consists of a four-way direction pad and six circular buttons which are aligned in two separate rows with three buttons each. The conceptualisation of the device is very intriguing as such controls would open a whole new world of mobile gaming possibilities.

The 35mm F2 is a compact lens. It claims to have a high-performance and being a wide-angle lens, covers the full-frame image circle of PENTAX K-mount digital SLR cameras. The new 35mm is said to have been based on  the smc PENTAX-FA 35mm F2 AL. The PENTAX-FA 35mm was a very popular lens for photographers when they shot in film cameras. The new lens boasts of  a high-grade, multi-layer HD Coating that is applied to the optical elements. It is said to produce high-contrast images with edge-to-edge sharpness, free of flare and ghosting. A highly stain-repellent SP Coating is also said to have been applied to the front surface. This improves the lens’ usability outdoors. The design of the new lens is reminiscent of the older model and looks almost alike.

The second lens, which is a high-performance, ultra-wide-angle, Star-series lens delivers exceptional optical performance, according to claims made by Ricoh. The lens features a constant 2.8 aperture through every focal length and is a part of the new-generation Star series of lenses from the company. Being a member of the high performance lens series, the company claims that this lens will provide high-resolution, high-contrast images without blurring at the edges.

According to Ricoh, the lens provides a Focus Clamp Mechanism to lock focus at the desired focal point. It also is said to have outstanding dustproof and weather-resistant construction. Ricoh also claims to have built the lens keeping the adverse weather conditions in mind. One of the features that accommodate adverse weather condition shooting is a space specifically designed for holding a heating device to prevent condensation. The lens also has a metallic frame structure, which more effectively transmits the heat of the device to the lens.

The price of the HD PENTAX-DA 11-18mm F2.8 ED DC AW Lens is £1,399.99 and the HD PENTAX-FA 35mm F2 will retail for £399.99.
