Google I/O 2019 Dates And Venue Announced

Every year, Google shows their software prowess and their hardware capability with the Google I/O. Last year, it was the human like AI calling project called Google Duplex that took everyone’s attention. Google also announced the release of Android P beta to phone from different manufacturers other than Google, which was a big step.

So because of all this, its no surprise people are eager and excited to know what Google has in store for us this year. And it seems like you don’t have to wait much longer. Google CEO Sundar Pichai has finally announced the dates and the venue for Google I/O 2019.

Talking on Twitter, Pichai shared an image and announced that the annual event will take place from May 7 to May 9 in the Shoreline Amphitheatre. The venue and dates are not surprising though, as Google has always chosen similar dates for the event. The venue too, will be familiar for most regulars as its not the first time Google is hosting the I/O there.

What to expect from Google I/O 2019?

Google I/O has mostly been about the developing technologies at Google and this year will be no different. It is expected that Google will enrol more Smartphone brands in the Android Q beta, to take the next step in eliminating Android fragmentation. New exciting features in Android Q are also expected to be announced. Google may also show new developments to their Assistant, with  things like AI coming more into the picture.

Zombies storm Battle-royale as PUBG Mobile beta teams up with Resident Evil 2

PUBG Mobile is the Mario of our generation. With a daily active player base of 10 million and updates that are making this game interesting day-by-day, we are seeing crossovers that shouldn’t even be possible. This time PUBG mobile beta is teaming up with Resident Evil 2. This is to bring forth a special update for the game. And yes, you guessed it right. It has Zombies!

    About The Update

The new 0.11.0 beta update adds a new mode to the game. Codenamed ‘Sunset’, the new mode brings together some of the best zombies and bosses. And that too from Capcom’s highly anticipated ‘Resident Evil 2’ which launched on 25th January itself. As you can imagine, a combination of human opponents and AI zombies is going to be absolutely chaotic and equally fun to play. Not only that, killing zombies helps you gain more loot. You can use that extra firepower to take your human enemies down! A substantial rise in the number of active players can be expected after an update like this in PUBG Mobile.

    Developer Support In PUBGM

With more than a 100 million downloads on this game so far, the developers seem to be doing an amazing job in maintaining player interest in PUBG Mobile at such a level. They are introducing themed music and graphics with every update. They keep on adding small tweaks to improve performance. Most of all, they keep their focus on player convenience. All this is proving to be really good for Tencent, as every update sees a drastic boost in the player base.

    Additional Patches

In addition to the updates mentioned above, PUBG Mobile also introduced a new moonlight weather theme to their latest snow-clad map, Vikendi. Already a huge hit among PUBG Mobile fans, Vikendi is going to look more beautiful than ever. You can now activate Push-to-talk in matches, which will help reduce background noise by a huge margin. Also, Sanhok, which is the smallest map in the game is now available in Quick match mode. So now, drop in and start shooting without any more delays! These are just some of the major revamps that will be released with the 0.11.0 beta update.

  • Apple Will Now Pay The Winners Of Its “Shot On iPhone” Photo Contest

Apple Will Now Pay The Winners Of Its “Shot On iPhone” Photo Contest

Earlier this week, Apple announced the “Shot on iPhone” contests for photographers who wanted to showcase their talent. The pictures would be judged by a panel of 10 professionals and the winners would get a spot in Apple billboards across the world.

The contest asks the users of the latest iPhones in town, namely the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and the iPhone XR to submit their best photos via Twitter, Instagram, email, or Weibo. The 10 best photos — selected by a panel of judges that includes Apple marketing chief Phil Schiller and former White House photographer Pete Souza will be featured “on billboards in select cities, Apple retail stores and online,” according to the contest site.

Well, Apple might’ve thought that exposure would be enough for them to participate but after facing a serious backlash for not paying the winning photographers anything, Apple has updated the contents on its website, in the original press release about the contest.

First spotted by The Verge, the new paragraph reads, “Apple believes strongly that artists should be compensated for their work. Photographers who shoot the final 10 winning photos will receive a licensing fee for use of such photos on billboards and other Apple marketing channels.”

Apple has also updated their rules in a PDF from “Prize has no cash value” has changed to “Winners will receive a licensing fee for use on billboards and other Apple marketing channels.” Considering the past, Apple hasn’t gotten out of their way much to correct their mistakes, not even admitting they made one in the first place in some cases.

Details as to the amount the winners will be paid are unclear. Some photographers suggested earlier this week that Apple pay $10,000 per photo to the winners, though others argued that exposure should be payment enough. However, now that Apple has decided to give a fee to the winners rather than just relying on exposure by them, it may be expected that more people come on board the idea of entering the contest, which is supposed to take place until February 7.

  • Samsung To Soon Launch Second Gen IconX Wireless Earbuds

Samsung To Soon Launch Second Gen IconX Wireless Earbuds

Samsung is reportedly working on a significantly newer version of the original Gear IconX earbuds, previously introduced in 2018. Reportedly bearing the model number SM-R170, the earbuds will be available in three colors – black, white and yellow. The most interesting aspect of the new IconX earbuds will be the fact that they sport 8 gigs of internal storage. That’s almost 2000 songs you can store in these upcoming earbuds, as an improvement to its predecessor, which had 4 GB internal storage.

    Tuning and Price

It’s pretty early to say this, but the new Gear IconX earbuds may be launched with a Galaxy Branding, just like they did with their smartwatch. Another speculation that arises with this new product is the price factor, that may prove to be a contributing factor if Samsung opts for AKG tuning with their new earbuds. AKG is a legendary studio brand with almost 70 years’ experience in audio and sound, so we can expect Samsung to go for the bigger portion here. Also, Samsung is releasing their very first Bixby-powered Home system, called Galaxy Home with AKG tuning later this year. This here suggests that Samsung may go for the same tuning across the IconX earbuds as well.

    Battery Life

As far as the battery life is concerned, nothing definitive is on the charts yet. But looking at the 2018 IconX earbuds which delivered almost seven hours of listening time, the new IconX earbuds will probably be better at the battery game. Now it’s very skeptical to say if they make improvements in the earbuds or the charging case, but we expect fast charging support with the new IconX earbuds, that’s for sure.

Are you a fan of the original Gear IconX earbuds? If so, what do you think about the supposedly new ‘Galaxy’ IconX earbuds? Do let us know!

  • Xiaomi Sharesave Is Here To Make Purchasing Products from China Easier

Xiaomi Sharesave Is Here To Make Purchasing Products from China Easier

In a blog post on Wednesday, Xiaomi announced the launch of Sharesave, a cross-border e-commerce platform to make shopping for Xiaomi products, or Xiaomi backed products from China much easier. The platform has been rolled out in India, with more companies to follow suit soon.

According to the post, “ShareSave aims to offer users outside of Chinese mainland a convenient and cost-effective way to purchase ecosystem products that have only been available within Chinese mainland. Using social e-commerce as its core model, ShareSave is a platform where users take the lead every step of the way for a #SharetoSave purchasing experience.”

The platform has a purchase model, which allows the buyers lucrative discounts or free product under certain circumstances. The pair-up model suggests that if you buy a product with a friend, you both will get exclusive discounts. The Drop feature seems to be a closed group in which you can invite friends and family and if enough members join a group, you get upto 100% price drop. There are also products that need to be backed up, for a sum $0.2, Xiaomi is promising up to 10 times the reward for backing up the products you like.

While there are a lot of options in the e-commerce space today, Sharesave separates itself from the rest due to its unique propositions, One is the cross border advantage, and it coming straight out of one of the largest smartphone makers in China is quite the advantage.

And while most Xiaomi products are slowly making its way to India, some interesting products that users may want to buy are still far from our reach, that is until now. Some products like Mi x Wiha Precision

Screwdriver, Yeelight LED Light Bulb, Soocas Sonic Electric Toothbrush X1 Lite etc. are quite a few things that are not readily available in the country. And while there is an option of ordering it through sites like AliExpress or Gearbest, Xiaomi’ s alternative does seem a lot more straightforward and reliable.

The Sharesave App is now available on the Play Store to download and while there aren’t many products on the app right now, Xiaomi is expected to keep adding them to the mix.

  • The Apple AirPods 2 Will Support Hands-Free “Hey Siri” Voice Command

The Apple AirPods 2 Will Support Hands-Free “Hey Siri” Voice Command

The Airpods 2 have been in the rumors for quite a while now. Along with the much leaked and hyped Airpower, the second generation of the super successful Apple Airpods are all but confirmed to be on the way. The latest news comes on behalf of 9to5Mac where the latest beta of iOS 12.2 was decoded and was found to have a separate, hands-free command for the Airpods.

    via 9to5Mac

Now, the first generation of the Airpods don’t support this feature and thus, it is all but confirmed that the second generation does. There is also a claim of the Airpods getting new health-centric features. What those are, isn’t very clear because there is only so much you can do while being plugged in the ears.

The Airpods were launched in 2016 and were appreciated for their super simple pairing and connectivity to the Apple products. The sound quality of the Airpods was average at best so it will be interesting to see Apple work on it this time. The hands-free Siri command can be very useful in certain circumstances like when you want to summon the assistant to do the work for you. One more feature coming definitely to the second-gen Airpods will be wireless charging support for the case right from the ground up.

The updates seem substantial and justify a new model of the Airpods. One thing we wish Apple would work on something to make the size of the Airpods much smaller than they already are and if possible, make them look a little less ridiculous while in the ears. Color options also would be appreciated this time around.

The launch date of Airpods 2 isn’t clear on the horizon yet, but we should expect it to see it sometime in 2019, possibly in the first half.

  • Redmi Go Launch ; All You Need To Know

Redmi Go Launch ; All You Need To Know

As we were just getting over the ‘Xiaomi-Redmi’ breakup, the Chinese electronics giant flashes a teaser for an upcoming device. Not the Note 7, but in fact, the Redmi Go. We are just as surprised as you are, because it seems to be their first big release since they turned independent. And on top of that, the Philippines seems to be the first exclusive country to welcome Redmi Go into its market. And that is saying something since Android Go hasn’t been released anywhere yet. Let that sink in.

Teasing their customers with the hashtag #GoSmartDoMore, the device is supposed to be an improved version of the Redmi 5A. The Redmi Go aims to be a budget Android device with specs that can easily handle your day-to-day tasks. As per an online e-commerce store in the Philippines, the device has been listed with the similar hashtag, but without any pricing available on the same. The specs, thankfully, are present on the same.

    Redmi Go Specifications

The smartphone sports a 5-inch display with a 720p resolution. With a Snapdragon 425 chip and 1 gigabyte of RAM, it also has 8 gigs of internal storage. An expandable memory slot up to 128 GB just adds icing to the cake. Talking about those pictures, it has an 8 MP camera with an LED flash, with a 5 MP front-facing camera. With a 3000 mAh battery, it should just be enough to handle a full day of your usage.

If you’re concerned about connectivity, there’s more on that table too, because the smartphone has Bluetooth 4.1 support, and most importantly, dual SIM card slots. 4G LTE is supported, so high internet speeds shouldn’t be an issue. As far as the OS goes, the the device is launching with the Go Edition of Android 8.1 Oreo, not Android 9 as you may think.

    Redmi Go Colours and Launch

The Redmi Go will be available in two colors, black and blue. As discerned from the teaser’s image, it’ll have larger bezels than the Redmi Note 7. As of now, no definite launch date is available. Hopefully, there will be one soon. How hyped are you for the Redmi Go launch in India? Let us know in the comments below!

  • Mysterious Google Device Leaks On Geekbench With Snapdragon 855

Mysterious Google Device Leaks On Geekbench With Snapdragon 855

The year has barely begun and the leaks of all the upcoming smartphones also are on the rise. Amidst the high intensity of Samsung Galaxy S10 leaks, a mysterious device from Google has popped up on Geekbench. And it may be enough to get you a little excited. Code-named Google Coral, the device has some impressive, 2019 worthy, specifications from as far as the eyes can see. The leaked screenshot shows us some of the components that will power this mystery of a device.

    Google Coral Specifications

The device may run on a Snapdragon 855, the latest from Qualcomm, 6GB of RAM, which is impressive considering Google only put 4GB of RAM in the Pixel 3 series. The device is also running Android Q, which probably won’t be out until Q3 of 2019, which is maybe what we are looking at as the timeline for the launch of the device.

What the leak doesn’t emphasize on, is what is under the hood of the device, but the Benchmarks suggest it is the latest and greatest from Qualcomm. As far as the benchmark scores go, the Google Coral scores an impressive 3296 in Single Core scores and a whopping 9235 in Multi-Core. This is on par with all the other leaks of the benchmarks the Snapdragon 855 can work out. One thing that is weird about this mysterious device is the timing of the leak. While there is no doubt that Google is working on the next generation of Pixel devices, but the timing is really too early for a leak. What this mystery device is, remains to be seen.

Huawei Will Launch A Foldable 5G Smartphone At MWC 2019

The dates of MWC 2019 (Mobile World Congress) are nearing and Huawei has announced that it will launch a foldable smartphone with 5G compatibility at the upcoming MWC event next month. Samsung has also announced that it will launch a foldable phone and a 5G compatible phone at the upcoming event, but these features are likely to be seen on two seperate devices. Therefore, Huawei might become the first company in the world to offer both bleeding edge technologies on a single smartphone. Except for Huawei and Samsung, Xiaomi will also launch the 5G compatible Mi Mix 3 smartphone next month.

    What is 5G?

5G is the newest generation of cellular mobile communication which succeeds 4G, 3G and 2G.  It aims to provide higher data rates, reduction in cost, energy saving, and an even larger connectivity network compared to its predecessors. Theoretically, the 5G compatible device can reach a data transfer speed of up to 20 GBPS which is several folds faster than the current standards. The technology is currently under rapid development and a lot is expected from it in the coming years.

    Foldable Huawei Smartphone Expectations

Huawei has not yet enlightened the consumers about a foldable smartphone but a past investor meeting revealed some key details what can be expected from a foldable Huawei smartphone.  Reportedly, the company is working on a foldable phone that folds inwards like the Galaxy F. Luckily we won’t have to wait for long as MWC is scheduled for 25-29 Februay and the company will clarify all the doubts regarding the same.

Perhaps the technology and elements from this year’s Apex will be seen on the next Nex smartphone.
