Tips and Tricks to Keep Your Laptop Cool

Things tend to heat up a lot in the summer, especially all our electronic devices that we use everyday. Many laptops bake because the fan on the bottom is blocked, and the hard drive then quickly crashes. By using one (or all) of these techniques, you can keep your laptop cool and efficient without squandering your money on a cooling pad, we have got five really simple hacks for you:

    1. Use egg cartons as Trays

    sddefault

Flip some empty egg cartons over and you will get plenty of airflow. Plus point, you won’t burn your legs if you want to actually put your laptop on your lap. It is not the best-looking thing, but it is affordable and gets the job done. An ugly setting is better than an overheating machine.

    2. Keep the surrounding cool

    0013
    0013

Keep a cool atmosphere. Try putting your laptop in an air-conditioned or cool area to allow your system to cool down and prevent it from heating.

    3. Clean out the Dust

    clean

Dust are the main reason laptops and computers heat up. There are many ways to address this problem. The simplest way is to buy a can of compressed air and spray it into the vents in swift and short bursts. Be sure your laptop is switched off and unplugged before doing so. You can also use a cotton swab to clean out any visible dust or suck it out using a computer vacuum.

    4. Check and adjust your settings

    Change-Plan-Settings

Make sure your laptop is set up to manage a heavy graphics load. Gamers and movie watchers, this mainly concerns you. At the same time, if your software runs fine as is, do not update it unnecessarily. The goal is to reduce your machine’s workload. If your BIOS settings were freshly updated, for example, and your fan starts acting up shortly after that, you might try reinstalling them. Decreasing your screen’s brightness, unplugging U.S.B. powered devices and terminating idle apps that are hogging up CPU time will also further cool things down.

    5. Give it some rest

    maxresdefault

If you have a desktop and a laptop, divide your time between the two. Don’t sleep/hibernate/shut down every other second. If you just logged on to check your e-mail, better to leave your laptop on than to turn it off shortly after, especially if you may use it again later that day. Your laptop might not be able to take as much exploitation as your desktop, so treat it with care.

You Will No Longer Be Tricked Into Installing Chrome Extensions

Google has decided to take control over ‘inline installations’ that promise exciting features and then latch themselves on to your Chrome Web browser using random plugins.

Starting September 3rd, 2015, Google will restrict the installation of such extensions. The inline installation allows developers and web publishers a convenient option to make readers install their extensions without leaving the website.

    chrome-extentions 1

The extensions can be found on the Chrome Web Store. However, publishers also found a way to embed a shortcut to it – so when a reader clicks on the install button, an installation dialogue automatically appears on the website, instead of the reader getting redirected to the Chrome Web Store first.

“It’s an important step to maintain a healthy extension ecosystem for users and the vast majority of extension developers who don’t use deceptive tactics.” says Google.

This feature soon began to annoy users, as the developers who maintain various advertisements claiming to offer free software updates etc. tricked users into installing their own extensions as well.

    Google Unwanted Extensions

Google will now monitor any unwanted or mysterious extension and redirect them to the product page of that extension in the Chrome Web Store. This is to allow the user to decide whether he/she wants to install that particular extension or not.

However, it is also reported that inline installations will continue, but just not the unwanted ones.

  • Report: We Might See the Samsung Galaxy S7 By This December

Report: We Might See the Samsung Galaxy S7 By This December

In a usual scenario, we would see a new Samsung S series handset being released in the second quarter of every year. However, if reports from Phonearea are right, we may soon see a new Galaxy S7 in the market. Reports read that the company has adopted the new ‘Agile’ process instead of the traditional ‘Waterfall’ method.

The Agile methodology means creating a project with simple beginnings and building it up by dividing development into modules that are executed as fast as possible. The project gets tested and assessed every time a module gets completed, but the main advantage of this method is that the product can easily be replaced mid-way due to the flexibility of modular development. This goes in contrast with Waterfall development that basically implies a very precise plan, and once you finish a critical stage of the project, you can no longer go back.

If the S7 applies the Agile methodology, we may see a new S-series devices in the next edition of the Mobile World Conference.

For now, we have absolutely no clue about the specs and the design of the Galaxy S7. Few reports suggest that Samsung is still deciding between a Qualcomm processor and one of its own Exynos chips. But, if the device is slated to be releasing in December, we may hear a word or two soon enough.

  • Here’s Why We Might Get Two New Nexus Phones in 2015

Here’s Why We Might Get Two New Nexus Phones in 2015

We already know that the Nexus 5 is Google’s best product. The device was released in 2013 and had a Full HD display with a 2.3GHz processor. Later on, reports flowed in about the company working on the next Nexus 5 ,2015. But, there was a slight catch. Sources stated that the device would be released in two variants, an LG and a Huawei variant, codenamed as ‘LG Bullhead’ and ‘Huawei Angler,’ respectively.

But, why is Google launching two handsets in the same year? One of the possible reasons is that both the companies have their recognition in different markets. LG has a good success rate in North America and Europe while Huawei has got a loyal customer base in Asia, particularly in China.

Google’s Nexus device will be launched along with the Android Pay rollout, but since Android Pay won’t likely be used in China, LG Nexus devices will not be sold there.

Another possible reason is that Google is trying to reach a settlement with all the Android partners in the Nexus program. But, this raises another question. Why has LG agreed on making its third Nexus device? According to Business Korea, Google wanted to speed up the adoption rate of the Android Pay, hence they pitched to LG, due to their broad audience base, back in America and Europe.

The speculated specifications of the LG Nexus 2015 include a 5.2-inch with 1920 x 1080 display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4 GB RAM. Integrated with Android M, the battery will be of 2,860mAh. Supported by a 16-megapixel dual camera at the back and 5-megapixel in the front, it is also observed that LG Nexus 5 will feature a 3D camera.

The back cover of the upcoming LG Nexus will have three openings, one for the camera module, one for the fingerprint scanner and a square-shaped opening that operates the LED flash.

The devices are slated to release on October 20th.

This new position is reportedly not for the Apple Music but for new mobile products that Apple plans to launch for Android users. Some of the speculated apps that might be in for this project are – the iWork, iCloud, iMessage, Safari, iTunes etc. It is said that releasing iCloud on Android would give users another option to access their files.

However, it seems like Apple’s iOS is finally facing the Android challenge head-on by expanding its accessibility, especially after reports have shown them losing numbers in  markets in USA and China. No further information is available on what these new mobile products are going to be.

Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus Face Production Delays

However, it is said that the delay in mass production will not affect the dates when Apple introduces and launches the new smartphones. The dates are rumoured to be September 11th 2015 and September 18th 2015, for the unveiling and the launch, respectively.

Both the new devices are expected to be made of Series 7000 aluminum, a 12MP camera, a 2GB of DDR4 RAM, along with the Force Touch technology present in the Apple Watch.

  • Xiaomi Set To Open Offline Stores In India By Early 2016

Xiaomi Set To Open Offline Stores In India By Early 2016

Xiaomi usually sells its devices online, directly to their consumers via online market places and hence save a lot on marketing expenses. However, the Chinese smartphone company has now decided to start selling via offline stores in India.

“We are experimenting with a new sales channel and getting into general trade to increase our reach and to make our products available more easily,” Jain said.

The company had previously entered a partnership with Flipkart and then eventually launched its own online portal – Mi.com. But now, with offline stores in India, it is eying a bigger share in the smartphone industry’s market shares.

    Xiaomi-Mi5

Xiaomi is said to be tying up with Redington (India) Ltd., a cellphone distributor in India, while also working on a commission-based model. However, further reports don’t suggest anything apart from this, and Xiaomi might also be working with multiple partners.

    Xiaomi-Mi5

The offline sales are to open in thousand to fifteen hundred stores in fifteen south Indian cities – Chennai, Bengaluru, Mysore, and Visakhapatnam being a few. The first phase of offline sales is said to go live in the next 45 to 60 days, and will eventually be available all over India by early 2016.

Manu Jain, India operations head at Xiaomi, has said, that although the cost of doing an offline business is higher, the margins should not be affected too much. He also added that they would not pass on the cost to the consumers and expect sales in India to contribute to over twenty five to thirty percent of the overall numbers.

With this project in tow, reports also suggest that Xiaomi is in talks with a Taiwanese manufacturer Foxconn to make its smartphones in India as well as to introduce air purifiers and televisions here.

  • New Reports Suggest Apple iPhone 6s Will Launch As Early As 9th September

New Reports Suggest Apple iPhone 6s Will Launch As Early As 9th September

Earlier, it was reported by MobileNews that the Apple iPhone 6S would be releasing on 25th September this year. Although Apple had not confirmed anything about the dates, pre-orders were about to start from 18th September, and would have gone live physically on 25th September.

But, latest reports from John Paczkowski of Buzzfeed suggest that the new iPhone will be released as early as 9th September. John Paczkowski is known to be quite accurate when it comes to the release dates of Apple products, and he has said the event will happen in the week of 7th September. In addition to the next iPhone, it is also possible that the event may witness the launch of the iPad Pro and the new Apple TV hardware.

    iPhone 6 14

September is the month that Apple released its last three flagships in their respective years. So, we are optimistic to see an Apple event next month.

It is highly unlikely that Apple will go for a significant design change for the upcoming iPhone since it went through a major makeover in its last release. Some of the changes that the ‘iPhone 6s’ is said to include is a new design using an improved casing material and a newly resurrected inner design. One more microphone is said to be added near the new handset’s speakers in an attempt to improve the sound quality. Kuo also said the device will come with 2 GB RAM and a 12MP camera. Kuo also reveals that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6s models will be powered by a next-gen A9 processor. Another highlight of the new iPhone would be the inclusion of Force Touch, a feature that we’ve recently seen on the Apple Watch and MacBook.

The company has assigned the task of assembling 85- 90 million handsets to its manufacturing partners and may release a larger ‘Plus’ version too.

  • New Leak Reveals Dual-SIM Samsung Note 5 Will Include a microSD Option

New Leak Reveals Dual-SIM Samsung Note 5 Will Include a microSD Option

Recently, we received the unwelcoming news that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will not be including any expandability options and will not have a microSD slot for expanding the memory. But, there still might be a chance that the device might feature the useful option.

According to a latest report, the device will be a supporting microSD card option. The report says the memory card slot will share the same slot as the second SIM slot. For double SIM users, this might present itself as a problem. Basically, one of the Micro-SIM card slots doubles as the MicroSD card extension slot. So, you can either use the expandability option, or you can use two SIM cards at the same time.

So, for single SIM users, storage might not pose much of a problem.

As far as we know about the device, the Galaxy Note 5 will have a curved back and is likely to feature a 5.4-inch or 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with curves on both the edges. The display is likely also to feature a 4K resolution. According to reports, the phone may also feature a 16MP rear camera and an 8MP secondary shooter.

The Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge + are officially scheduled to launch on the 13th of August.
