    Samsung Galaxy A40 Launched, Octa Core CPU And 4 GB RAM In Tow

    Korean electronics giant, Samsung has been on a smartphone launching frenzy lately. The company has populated its Galaxy A lineup with numerous smartphones which range from the budget segment to the premium segment. On the 10th of 2019, Samsung launched two premium smartphones, namely the Galaxy A70 and the Galaxy A80 at an event in Thailand. Later that evening, the company unveiled two other smartphones in the UK which include the Galaxy A40 and the A20e.

    Galaxy A40 Design And Features

    The newly launched Galaxy A40 is highly reminiscent of its siblings from the Galaxy A lineup. The front of the smartphone accommodates a 5.9 inch Super AMOLED display with Infinity U notch which houses an f/2.0 aperture equipped 25 MP sensor. The rear panel of the handset is made out of glossy plastic which Samsung refers to as a ‘3D Glasstic’ design. The rear side of the smartphone harbours the company branding, oval shaped fingerprint sensor and dual camera setup.

    The dual rear camera setup of the Samsung Galaxy A40 is comprised of an f/1.7 aperture equipped 16 MP sensor, f/2.2 aperture equipped 5 MP sensor and an LED flash. In addition to the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, it also supports face unlock technology. The smartphone is powered by a 3,100 mAh battery which supports 15 w fast charging.

    Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy A40 features the Lassen O+ octa-core processor which has a clock speed of 1.8 GHz. Connectivity options on the smartphone include Dual 4G VoLTE, 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, 3.5 mm audio jack, NFC, GPS and a bottom mounted Micro-USB port for charging and data transfer. The handset runs on Samsung’s One UI which is built on top of the latest Android 9 Pie.

    The Samsung Galaxy A40 is available in four colour options which include Black, White, Coral and Blue. In terms of memory and storage, the handset has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of inbuilt storage which is further expandable up to 512 GB via the dedicated MicroSD slot. The handset is currently available in the UK at a price of € 250 (Rs 19,500) and is soon expected to debut in India.

    Samsung is expected to announce three new smartphones in its Galaxy A lineup on the 10th of April. A fresh listing on a Dutch website lists one of the devices, the Galaxy A40 up for pre-order. The listing reveals the key specifications and the price of the device in Europe. Galaxy A40 is the latest budget entrant by the company and will sit between the Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50, both of which were launched in India on February 28.

    The Samsung Galaxy A40 measures 144.3 x 69.1 x 7.9 mm and has a polycarbonate back. The rear of the smartphone is reminiscent of the Galaxy A30 and the Galaxy A50, complete with a gradient design which the company calls ‘Glasstic’. Over at the front, there is a 5.9 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 px. There is a waterdrop notch on top which Samsung refers to as ‘Infinity-U’ display. The Galaxy A40 has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and supports face unlock technology.

    For performance, the Samsung Galaxy A40 is kitted with an Exynos 7885 SoC which is manufactured using 14nm fabrication process. The chipset has an Octa-core CPU and a Mali G71 GPU. In terms of optics, the smartphone has a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 16MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP ultra-wide sensor with an aperture of f/2.2. This is the same setup found in the Galaxy A30. For seflies, there is a 25MP camera housed in the notch. Notably, this is the same sensor used in its elder sibling, the Galaxy A50. For memory and storage, the Galaxy A40 has 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.

    The Samsung Galaxy A40 is powered by a 3100mAh battery with fast charging support via the bottom mounted USB Type-C port. The device runs on the latest OneUI on top of current Android 9 Pie. The smartphone also supports microSD card up to 512GB. It is available in four colours namely, Black, Blue, White and Coral.

    The price mentioned on the Dutch website for the Samsung Galaxy A40 is € 249 (Rs 19,520). Unfortunately, there is no information on when the smartphone will go on sale, but it is expected to be announced in the month of April.

One of the upcoming smartphones, the Galaxy A40 has leaked time and again and has now been freshly revealed in official renders. These renders unveil how the smartphone may look like.

    The Galaxy A40 as the name suggests will sit between the Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 as Samsung’s new mid-range offering. The leaked renders reveal the smartphone will look a lot like its siblings, as the design and hardware are reminiscent of the Galaxy A30; but the gradient design on the back is similar to the one found on the Galaxy A50. While the specifications of the device aren’t known yet, it is expected to have an Infinity-U, 6.4 inches Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 px. There are minimal bezels around the display and a waterdrop notch up top. Noteworthy, this will be the same display type as the one found in its siblings. The Galaxy A40 will feature a rear mounted fingerprint sensor with support for face unlock technology.

    Under the hood, the Galaxy A40 is expected to be kitted with the 14nm Exynos 7885 SoC. The chipset consists of an Octa-core CPU and Mali G71 MP2 GPU. According to the leaked renders, the smartphone will have a dual rear camera setup which is likely to have a 13MP main sensor combined with an 8MP ultra-wide angle sensor. The front camera is expected to be a 16MP f/2.0 sensor housed in the notch on top of the display. For memory and storage, the smartphone will feature 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

    Reports suggest that the Samsung Galaxy A40 will be powered by a 4000mAh battery like its siblings and will support fast charging via the bottom mounted USB Type-C port. It will also have a 3.5mm headphone jack and will run on the latest OneUI by the company on top of the current Android 9 Pie.

The GIF file shared in the tweet has the text “A Galaxy Event” which hints at devices in the Galaxy-A lineup. The three silhouettes also suggest that the event may see the launch of three devices. These smartphones could be the Galaxy A40, Galaxy A60 and the Galaxy A90.

    The Galaxy A90 is expected to be the most premium device in the current A series of smartphones. While most details of it aren’t known yet, it is expected to feature a similar design to its siblings. The device was previously leaked to have a mechanical pop-up camera or a rotating mechanical camera to achieve a high screen to body ratio. If the latest smartphones are anything to go by, the Galaxy A90 will have a Super AMOLED display and will run on the OneUI on top of Android 9 Pie. The company may use an entirely new type of Infinity Display on the handset. Like the last year’s Galaxy A9, it is also expected to have a quad-rear camera setup, details of which are unknown at the moment. The Galaxy A90 will most likely have an in-display fingerprint sensor. The device may run on the 10nm Snapdragon 710 SoC. The chipset has an Octa-core CPU and Adreno 616 GPU. For memory and storage, the smartphone may feature up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

    As the name suggests, the Samsung Galaxy A60 will be the elder sibling to the Galaxy A50; and is expected to carry major design and features from the device, albeit with a few upgrades. The leak suggests the smartphone will have the same ‘3D Glasstic’ gradient back. It will have a 6.7 inch Super AMOLED display with an Infinity-U notch on the top and a resolution of 2340 x 1080 px. Like the Galaxy A50, there will be an in-display fingerprint scanner with support for face unlock technology.

    The Galaxy A60 might run on the 11nm Snapdragon 675 SoC. The chipset sports an Octa-core CPU and Adreno 612 GPU. In terms of optics, the smartphone is expected to feature a triple rear camera setup comprising of a 32MP sensor; combined with an 8MP ultra-wide angle sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. For selfies, the smartphone will have a 32MP camera housed in the notch on top of the display. The device will be powered by a 4500mAh battery and is likely to support fast charging via the USB Type-C port. For memory and storage, the Galaxy A60 will be available in the following variants:

In terms of display, the device will have a Super AMOLED display with a resolution of HD+ and an Infinity-U notch on the top.

    The leaks hint that the Galaxy A20e will be the Android Go edition of the regular variant and thus feature Android Oreo Go edition out of the box. The smartphone will not have a fingerprint sensor and instead will rely on face unlock technology for quick access to the device. Under the hood, the device will run on the Exynos 7870 SoC. For memory and storage, the device is expected to pack in 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
