Firefox Releases The Lockbox Password Manager For Android

With the increasing cases of privacy breaches and password leaks, it is important to stay secure in today’s day and age. However, with different usernames and passwords required on major web services, it can often get confusing to remember them all. In a bid to make that easier, Mozilla Corporation, best known for its popular Firefox web browser has launched Firefox Lockbox password manager for Android devices.

    Firefox Lockbox

The Firefox Lockbox is a password managing application that was launched for iOS devices last year. Like the Firefox Send launched a while ago, it is also based on the company’s Test Pilot system. It was an initiative to test a feature or an add-on to the Firefox browser before the tangible release. The latest application claims to be different than traditional password managers in a way that Firefox Lockbox uses the passwords already saved in the desktop Firefox browser. The app syncs the said usernames and passwords with the help of a Firefox account. Unlike the said password managers though, it does not give the option to generate a secure password.

Unfortunately, the Firefox Lockbox application does not allow manual entries of the account details. To save new account information, users will need to login to the web service from the desktop browser, save the details there and then it will automatically sync to their devices. For filling in the details easier, the autofill option can be enabled in the settings. The app uses 256 Bit encryption method to safely secure the details and supports the device’s fingerprint scanners and FaceID system for secure access to the software. The software is completely free to download and use on Android and iOS and the application weighs around 41Mb on Android. Interested users can visit the link here to download.

WhatsApp For Android Finally Gets A Dark Mode

After countless speculations and leaks, popular instant messaging application WhatsApp has started testing out the highly anticipated dark mode for Android. This feature has limited availability and was spotted in the Beta build of the software. Leaked screenshots reveal how the alleged dark mode will look like in WhatsApp.

    WhatsApp Dark Mode

The leaked screenshot of the WhatsApp dark mode feature has been claimed to be of the version 2.19.82 of the software. Even though the feature is live, many Beta users have claimed that the feature is not available on their devices. A few weeks ago, it was reported WhatsApp is redesigning the settings page of the Android app. It has since been insinuated it was done to ensure compatibility with the new feature.

The dark mode feature that has been leaked on WhatsApp for Android is currently only available in the settings menu. There have been reports that the chat window will retain its signature green accent colour for the foreseeable future. It is been speculated that the developers are trying to incorporate a better, darker version of the already existing chat window. The dark mode feature is expected to be rolled out in the following weeks in the stable version of the software.

The dark mode feature has been included by many developers and manufacturers in their software lately. This is because it supposedly helps in saving battery life on OLED displays because the darker areas of the screen require little to no pixels to light up. It also helps in reducing the strain on the user’s eyes in dark environments. However, instead of a solid black colour, the dark mode of WhatsApp on Android is more of greyscale in nature. This will help in reducing the eye strain but might not be of much help in increasing the battery life of the smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy A2 Core Gets Bluetooth Certification, Launch Imminent

Samsung has changed its strategy for smartphones drastically in the year 2019. It was earlier known for launching devices with humble specifications at a ludicrous price tag. The latest Galaxy M and Galaxy A series showcase this change perfectly. The company, in a bid to compete with the increasing stronghold of Chinese smartphone OEMs in countries like India, has been very aggressive lately with their handsets. A few days ago, a leaked image revealed that it is working on an Android Go smartphone, purportedly the Galaxy A2 Core. Fresh leak reveals that it has been granted Bluetooth certification which suggests the launch of the device is imminent.

Smartphones under the Android Go initiative generally offer low-end specifications and usually have 1GB or less of RAM. A lighter version of the Android Operating System is installed on the devices which ensures that they last longer and run smoother for a longer period of time.

    Galaxy A2 Core

The Samsung Galaxy A2 Core will be the second Android Go device from the company, the first one being the Galaxy J2 Core. A few days ago, a known tipster leaked the images of the device. The Bluetooth certification listing reveals a few model numbers of the smartphone on the official website of the Bluetooth certification organization. Model numbers mentioned in the listing were SM-A260F, SM-A260F_DS, SM-A260G, and SM-A260G_DS; which insinuates different variants of the upcoming Galaxy A2 Core in global markets. The listing confirms the smartphone will support Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy (LE).

While the leak doesn’t mention any specifications of the Galaxy A2 Core, a recent listing on CPU benchmarking website Geekbench revealed key specifications of the Galaxy A2 Core. The device runs Android 8.1 Oreo Go edition out of the box and is expected to feature Samsung’s Experience UI on top.

PUBG Mobile Six-Hour Ban Lifted, Developers Issue Apology

A few days ago, reports were rife that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or PUBG Mobile, an immensely popular game in India is imposing a new rule. This allowed the users to play the game for a period of six hours before being banned for the entire day. Many of the players were furious because of the decision and vented it out on various social media channels. In a tweet by the official Twitter account of PUBG Mobile India, the developers of the game have apologised, claiming the restriction was a bug, which has since been fixed, along with a few other bugs that were causing a hindrance in the gameplay.

Despite the claimed fix, some users have reported the bug still persists. It is expected that the issue will be fixed for all users in the following days.

Samsung Galaxy A60, Galaxy A70 Images, Specifications Leak Online

Samsung is expected to launch three new smartphones under its Galaxy A lineup on April 10. The expected smartphones include the Galaxy A90, Galaxy A60 and Galaxy A70. A fresh listing form Chinese regulatory website, TENNA reveals how the latter two devices will look like and has also unveiled their key specifications.

    Galaxy A60

The upcoming Galaxy A60 will be the elder sibling to the Galaxy A50 which was launched last month. Notably, it will feature the same design language that Samsung introduced to the table with the new Galaxy A smartphones. Which means a gradient back with ‘Glasstic’ design is expected. According to the leaks, the front will be dominated by a 6.3 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 px. It sports an Infinity-O display which means the screen has a punch hole camera on its top left corner like the Galaxy A8s launched last year. For biometrics and security, leaked images reveal the Galaxy A60 will have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and support for face unlock technology.

The Galaxy A60 is expected to run on the 11nm Snapdragon 675 SoC. The chipset has an Octa-core CPU and Adreno 612 GPU. In terms of optics, the smartphone will have a triple rear camera, details of which are unknown as of now. The front camera will be housed in the Infinity-O style punch hole display on the front. Refuting previous reports, the Galaxy A60 has been listed to be powered by a 3410mAh battery. Notably, it will have a lower capacity than the Galaxy A50 which has a 4000mAh battery.

    Galaxy A70

The Galaxy A70, as the name suggests, will be the specced up sibling of the aforementioned Galaxy A60. Like other smartphones in the lineup, it will also feature the same ‘Glasstic’ gradient design on the back. The listing reveals it will have a 6.7 inch Super AMOLED display with FullHD+ resolution. Unlike its sibling, it will have an Infinity-U display which is also present in the Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A30. For biometrics and security, the device will have an in-display fingerprint sensor with support for face unlock technology.

Previous reports cited that the Galaxy A70 may also run on the Snapdragon 675 SoC like its sibling. Unfortunately, no leaks regarding the optics of the smartphone have surfaced online. But like the Galaxy A50, it may have a triple rear camera setup and a single selfie camera housed in the Infinity-U notch. The device will be powered by a massive 4400mAh battery and may support fast charging.

Like their siblings, it is expected that the smartphones will run on the latest Samsung OneUI on top of the current Android 9 Pie. The device may be announced on the 10th of April and are reported to be priced at Rs. 24,990 for the Galaxy A60 and Rs 27,990 for the Galaxy A70.
