  • Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+ Red Bull Ring Edition Launched

Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+ Red Bull Ring Edition Launched

Samsung had launched the Galaxy S9 and S9+ at an event in Barcelona on the 25th of February. Both the flagship smartphones subsequently went on sale in India in March. Now, Samsung has launched a special edition of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ in association with Vodafone in the Netherlands. The Galaxy S9+ and S9 Red Bull Ring Edition will be available in the Netherlands until the 27th of April.

The name of the new Galaxy S9 Red Bull Edition is a reference to the Austrian Grand Prix track. The retail box of the Galaxy S9 Red Bull Edition will include a special Red Bull Ring case along with the usual stuff like AKG earphones and a wall charger. Interestingly, the case inside the bundle provides much more than just branding or protection to your Galaxy S9/S9+. It has an NFC chip that triggers a change in theme of the Galaxy S9 to a Red Bull theme featuring shots of its F1 cars.

Apart from the NFC chip cover, the Galaxy S9 Red Bull Edition comes pre-loaded with information about each track. The Galaxy S9 Red Bull Edition owners will also have access to free clips from the Ziggo Sport Formula 1 Cafe and exclusive race images. It is worth noting that the Galaxy S9/S9+ Red Bull Ring Edition is only available in the 64GB storage variant.

    Galaxy Note8 Pyeongchang

Unlike the Galaxy Note8 PyeongChang 2018 edition which had the Olympics logo embossed on the phone, the Galaxy S9 Red Bull Edition does not have any design changes. The NFC case is a nice addition but, apart from that, it does not really differentiate from the regular Galaxy S9 or S9+.

  • Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro Is A Smartphone Without Internet Connectivity

Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro Is A Smartphone Without Internet Connectivity

The Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro has been launched in South Korea for a price of 199,100 KWR (US$ 190). Irrespective of the price, brand or OS, most smartphones today have one thing in common, and that is the ability to connect to the internet. However, the new Galaxy J2 Pro has launched without this basic connectivity feature. Yes, this is the first modern smartphone, which cannot connect to the internet through 2G/3G/4G or Wi-Fi.

    A Smartphone Without Smart Features

The Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro is designed to restrict its users from accessing the internet. The smartphone is targeted at college students and senior citizens, who usually get distracted by the internet. Not being able to access the internet means one will not be able to install new apps or even update the software on the device. The phone comes with an offline dictionary, which will aid students to learn new definitions without connecting to the internet.

The internet addiction has become common these days, and Samsung appears to have taken it upon itself to fight this. Apparently, the Galaxy J2 Pro will help those who are constantly online to overcome the addiction. Unlike tablets, it does not even have a Wi-Fi connectivity option. As the phone has a micro USB port, one should be able to sideload applications and media files using a computer. Due to unavailability of the internet, this smartphone does not support features like GPS and Maps as well.

The phone has a 5 inch display with a 960×540 px display. The device runs on a 1.4 GHz Quad-core chipset with 1.5GB RAM and 16GB storage. Additionally, the smartphone also has an 8MP primary camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. However, without internet connectivity, the photos taken on this device are likely to remain on the smartphone’s storage itself.

  • Samsung Galaxy S9 Mini Running On Snapdragon 660 Chipset Spotted on AnTuTu

Samsung Galaxy S9 Mini Running On Snapdragon 660 Chipset Spotted on AnTuTu

The Galaxy S9 and the S9 Plus are the current flagship smartphones from Samsung. There have been a lot of rumours and speculations about a smaller Galaxy S9 mini. In fact, a Samsung smartphone with model number SM-G8850 was recently listed on TENAA. And now, the smartphone (model number SM-G8850) with a different set of specifications has been listed on AnTuTu Benchmarking platform.

According to AnTuTu Benchmarking Platform listing, the Samsung Galaxy S9 Mini runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Octa-core chipset with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The smartphone has an FHD+ 2220 x 1080 px resolution display (might be a Super AMOLED panel) with Android 8 Oreo OS. The device has scored a respectable 136383 points on the AnTuTu Benchmarking Platform, which is similar to the Nokia 7 Plus’s 138082 points. Compared to the previous leak this looks more like a mini version of a flagship smartphone. As according to the TENAA listing, the smartphone has a 2960 x 1440 px resolution screen, running on the Exynos 9810 chipset.

    Samsung Galaxy S9 Mini

The Galaxy S9 Mini has the same 5.8 inch display as the Galaxy S9 with FHD+ display, instead of a QHD+ display. Additionally, the Galaxy S9 Mini might skip on the Iris Scanner, which will reduce the cost of manufacturing. Additionally, the Galaxy S9 mini might also miss out the wireless charging capability. The smartphone has an iPhone X style dual camera setup with a fingerprint scanner placed in the top middle portion of the smartphone.

If launched, the Galaxy S9 mini is expected to compete against the likes of the OnePlus 6, Honor 10and the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s, especially in large growing markets like India.

  • Samsung Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red Is The Best Colour On A Smartphone

Samsung Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red Is The Best Colour On A Smartphone

Samsung has launched a new colour variant of its year old flagship device, the Galaxy S8. Available now the Samsung Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red colour, retails for Rs 49999. Consumers can also avail a Rs 10000 cash back on credit card payments, bringing the effective price of the Galaxy S8 to Rs 39999. The 2017 flagship smartphone received a price cut after the Galaxy S9 and S9+ were launched in India back in March.

The timing of the launch of the Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red in India is an interesting one, as it was launched a few hours before Apple introduced the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus (Product) RED globally. What makes the Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red the best colour variant of any smartphone is the fact that it is not your usual red coloured smartphone. Smartphone makers like OnePlus, Xiaomi and Honor have also launched a red colour variant of their popular smartphone but, nothing quite like the Burgundy Red found on the Galaxy S8.

The all-glass Samsung Galaxy S8 was already one of the best-looking smartphones to have launched lately and the new colour makes it a tad better. Also because of the glass build of the Galaxy S8, the shade of red colour is much deeper and more subtle than the red colour found on the likes of the iPhone 7 or OnePlus 5T.

At a price 0f Rs 49999, the Galaxy S8, especially with the new Burgundy Red colour can be a great buy. Smartphones these days barely differ in specifications and the difference is even more minute when comparing two generations of a smartphone. If a user is not interested in the variable aperture or 960fps video recording, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is a great way to get the design and build quality of a Galaxy S9 at a price that is much lower.

  • Possible Samsung Galaxy S9 Mini Leaked Online

Possible Samsung Galaxy S9 Mini Leaked Online

Samsung’s last known mini flagship smartphone was the Galaxy S5 Mini. After which, the company has been launching a standard variant and a plus variant of its flagship phones. However, this might soon change as a possible Samsung Galaxy S9 Mini has been listed on TENAA. There are a good number of reasons to claim that SM-G8850 belongs to the flagship S series from Samsung. First, Samsung reserves it’s QHD+ Super AMOLED display for its flagship phones and this device has a QHD+ display. And also. the smartphone runs on the Exynos 9810 Octa-core chipset, which is the chipset used on the Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+.

Samsung Galaxy S9 mini: A Compact Flagship

According to the TENAA listing, the Galaxy S9 Mini has the same 5.8 inch display as the Galaxy S9. However, the Galaxy S9 Mini might skip on the Iris Scanner, which will reduce the cost of manufacturing. Additionally, the Galaxy S9 mini might also miss out the wireless charging capability. The smartphone has an iPhone X style dual camera setup with a fingerprint scanner placed in the top middle portion of the smartphone.

    Samsung Galaxy S9 Mini
    Samsung Galaxy S9+

According to the TENNA listing, the Samsung Galaxy S9 Mini has a 5.8 inch QHD+ 2960 × 1440 px Super AMOLED Display. The compact phone runs on the Exynos 9810 Octa-core chipset and has  both 4GB and 6GB RAM options. The listing does not reveal any storage information. However, considering current flagship smartphones from Samsung, the device might have either 64/128GB onboard storage with an optional memory expansion up to 400GB via a micro SD card.

The phone is listed with a dual rear-camera setup with a two 12MP sensors. However, the listing does not mention the presence of variable aperture similar to that on the Galaxy S9. There is however, an 8MP front-facing camera similar to the Samsung Galaxy S9.

If launched, the Galaxy S9 mini is expected to compete against the likes of the OnePlus 6, Honor 10 and the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s, especially in large growing markets like India.

  • Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo Launched In India For Rs 16,990

Samsung has officially launched Galaxy J7 Duo in India for a price of Rs 16,990. The smartphone will be available from the 12th of April in Black and Gold colours via offline retail stores. Considering the price tag, the smartphone will compete against the Nokia 6 2018, which retails in India for Rs 16999.

    Galaxy J7 Duo

    Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo Specs

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo has a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display with 1280 x 720 px resolution. The smartphone has a plastic build with user replaceable back panel, which reveals a 3000 mAh battery. The device is powered by the Exynos 7 series Octa-core chipset with 4GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage. The storage is expandable up to 256GB using micro SD card on a dedicated micro SD card slot.

The smartphone has a dual camera setup with a 13MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor, with both boasting an f/1.9 aperture. The device has an 8MP front-facing camera with an f/1.9 aperture with 1080p video recording capability. The main camera unit can capture portrait photos which soften the background by keeping the subject in focus. The device runs on Samsung’s custom Experience UI based on Android 8 Oreo. The device has a forward facing fingerprint sensor, mounted on the home button.

At a cost of Rs 16,990, the Galaxy J7 Duo has an archaic 16:9 aspect ratio and a 720P display. The likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and Honor 7X have an 18:9 aspect ratio and 2160 x 1080 px resolution. The presence of a dual-camera and the perception attached to the Samsung brand might help the J7 Duo on the market. It is also worth noting that the Galaxy J7 Duo will be much easier to buy and will be more accessible than the likes of Redmi Note 5 Pro.

  • Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo Listed On Samsung India’s Website

Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo Listed On Samsung India’s Website

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo is an upcoming mid-tier Samsung smartphone with dual camera setup. The smartphone was previously spotted on different benchmarking platforms is now officially listed on Samsung India website. The device has a typical Samsung type styling with a plastic build. According to the wallpaper, the smartphone might launch in India on the 23rd of April.

    Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo Specs

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo has a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display with 1280 x 720 px HD resolution. Under the hood, the device has an unknown Octa-core chipset with 1.6GHz (might be the Exynos 7870). The smartphone has 4GB of RAM and 32GB storage. The dual camera setup is one of the fascinating facts about this device. The phone has a 13MP primary sensor with a f/1.9 aperture and a secondary 5MP sensor with an f/1.9 aperture. This camera setup might offer bokeh effect with 1080p video recording capability. The Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo has an 8MP front-facing camera with an f/1.9 aperture with an LED flash. According to a previous leak, the cameras might be powered by AI, to offer better edge detection and better low light photography.Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo

The smartphone has dual SIM card slot, were the secondary slot can take micro SD cards up to 256GB. On the connectivity front, the device supports latest Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, and 4G LTE with VoLte. The phone runs on Android 8 Oreo, backed by a 3000 mAh sealed battery with a micro USB port for charging and data syncing. Like most of the mid-tier smartphones, the device misses out on important sensors such as the gyroscope and ambient light sensor. However, the phone does have a fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button.

If this smartphone is launched under Rs 15,000 mark, then this smartphone can compete against the devices like Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Honor 7x, and the Moto G5s Plus. Though it misses out on features like an 18:9 aspect ratio display, having a dual camera with an f/1.9 aperture with an AMOLED screen will make this device strong against the competition.

  • Huawei P20 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S9+ vs iPhone X Vs Moto Z2 Force: Camera Shootout!

Huawei P20 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S9+ vs iPhone X Vs Moto Z2 Force: Camera Shootout!

Huawei recently launched its 2018 flagship Android smartphone, the Huawei P20 Pro. Apart from its design which is inspired by the iPhone X, the most exciting feature of the device is its camera capabilities. The P20 Pro is the first-ever smartphone to have a triple-camera setup on the back. Its global price is EUR 899 (Rs 71000 approx.) but, it is expected to have a lower price tag in India.

Over the years, camera performance of a smartphone has taken precedence over other features. A crappy camera can be the downfall of an otherwise great smartphone. The Essential Ph-1 is a great example of that. Similarly, a great camera can uplift a smartphone with other visible flaws. The 2016 Google Pixel smartphones did not have a great design, add-on features like wireless charging or water resistance. However, they had the best camera on the market which overshadowed much of their flaws.

So, we took the top flagship smartphones on the market right now and put their cameras through the paces. The smartphones in question here are the Huawei P20 Pro, the Galaxy S9+, Apple iPhone X and the Moto Z2 Force.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red Launched In India At Rs 49990

Samsung has launched the Galaxy S8 in a new Burgundy Red colour variant at a price of Rs 49990 in India. The new colour variant will be available across all leading retail outlets with an additional Paytm cashback of Rs 10000 from the 13th of April. The Samsung Galaxy S8, even after a year since its official launch, continues to be a strong seller for Samsung. For consumers looking for a flagship Samsung device but, do not want to spend heavily on the S9 or its bigger sibling, the Galaxy S8 makes perfect sense. It is now available at a much lower price compared to its original price tag and still has one of the best display and build quality on the market.

  • Specs Comparison: Nokia 8 Sirocco Vs Samsung Galaxy S8

Specs Comparison: Nokia 8 Sirocco Vs Samsung Galaxy S8

HMD Global recently launched their flagship smartphone, the Nokia 8 Sirocco in India for Rs 49,999. Nokia 8 Sirocco is a successor to the Nokia 8, which comes with a premium all-glass design. Samsung’s last year flagship, the Galaxy S8 currently retails in India for Rs 49,990, which is a head to head competitor to the Nokia 8 Sirocco.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco is the first smartphone from HMD Global to have a curved display with wireless charging capability. The smartphone is also IP67 rated for water and dust resistance. However, the Nokia 8 sirocco does have some shortcomings. The smartphone is powered by the last generation processor, the Snapdragon 835. Also, for a 2018 flagship, the smartphone still sports a 16:9 aspect ratio, even though the Nokia 7 Plus, priced at Rs 25999, has an 18:9 aspect ratio. We can only imagine its popularity had it been powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. Despite the 16:9 aspect ratio, it has a great build and design.

    Nokia 8 Sirocco

Though the Samsung Galaxy S8 is a year old flagship, it still makes sense to compare it with the latest flagship offering from Nokia. The Galaxy S8 and the Nokia 8 Sirocco are equally powerful. The Galaxy S8 and S9 have a similar design with common features like IP68 certification, wireless charging and the same Infinity Display. In fact, the difference between the Galaxy S8 and the S9 is limited to camera and processor.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco might have an edge over the Galaxy S8 in terms of camera. The Nokia 8 Sirocco has a Zeiss branded dual camera setup with a 12MP RGB sensor with an f/1.75 aperture and a 13MP telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture. The smartphone supports bokeh effect and 2X lossless zoom, whereas the Galaxy S8 misses out on both the features.

  • Samsung Galaxy A6 And Galaxy A6+ Display Specifications Leaked

Samsung Galaxy A6 And Galaxy A6+ Display Specifications Leaked

Samsung seems to be working towards an imminent launch of the 2018 Galaxy A6 and A6+ . The smartphones have been spotted on different certification boards in the past few weeks, unravelling most of their specifications. Now, a new leak has surfaced online which confirms the display size and type of these devices. The Samsung Galaxy A6 is expected to have a 5.6 inch display with 2220 x 1080 px resolution. However, the larger Samsung Galaxy A6+ has a 6.0 inch display with the same 2220 x 1080 px resolution.  Additionally, the leak also re-affirms the Exynos 7870 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipsets used on these devices, which are in line with the previous leaks. However, take this information with a pinch of salt, as the benchmark mentions, that the phones, both have a pixel density of 441 ppi.

Considering previous Galaxy A series devices, these too, are likely to have a Super AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution. In fact, the screen resolution does match with the Samsung Galaxy A8+, which was launched in India in 2017 and had a 6 inch 2220 x 1080 px resolution. The Samsung Galaxy A8+ currently retails in India for a price of Rs 28,990 and the A6+ and A6 are expected to be launched and priced in the same price range. These smartphones are expected to have an 18.5:9 aspect ratio display with a 2.5D curved glass protection.Galaxy A6

    Samsung Galaxy A6 Specs

Samsung Galaxy Note9 With A Possible In-Screen Fingerprint Sensor Leaked In Live Images

Considering the fact that, the Galaxy Note8 was launched in September 2017 the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note9 is not due until the end of 2018. Rumours about the Galaxy Note9 suggest that the smartphone will have new features like truly wireless charging and an In-Screen fingerprint sensor. Now, a leaked image appears to corroborate with the rumours of an In-Screen fingerprint sensor. The photo has been apparently taken in Shenzen (China) and is being compared with the Samsung Galaxy S9.

On the front, the device has a wider display, compared to the Galaxy S9. Additionally, the bottom bezel looks much thinner than the one found on the S9. However, unlike most smartphone makers, the company has decided to retain the top bezel instead of opting for a notch. On the back, the phone has a dual camera setup with a couple of sensors.

If this image turns out to be legitimate, then the smartphone is likely to have a bigger display in a smaller footprint. The Note9 will also have a 3850 mAh battery, which is much larger than previous Samsung flagships. The S-Pen looks similar to the previous one found on the Note8. The phone has a large OLED display, with a probable screen size of 6.5 inch. Like most of the Samsung flagship devices, the device will have a QHD+ resolution display.

The Galaxy Note9 will either be powered by the Snapdragon 845 or the Exynos 9810 chipset similar to the Galaxy S9/S9+. The Geekbench listing confirms some of the key specifications of the device. According to the listing, the smartphone will have  6GB RAM which runs on Android 8.1 Oreo. The smartphone will have a dual camera setup similar to the Galaxy S9+.

So far, there have been rumours about the flagship device to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. A Samsung patent has revealed that the smartphone might also feature truly wireless charging capabilities although, it seems a bit far-fetched as of now.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo Will Have A Dual Camera Setup

A leaked manual of the Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo confirms that the smartphone will be the first J series device to have a dual primary camera setup. Up until now, Samsung has used dual camera setup on three smartphones including, the Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy A8+ (front-facing) and Galaxy S9+. However, the company did launch the Galaxy C7  with a dual camera setup in Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. This also means we will see more Samsung mid-tier smartphones in the future with dual camera setup.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo also has a replaceable back panel with a user accessible battery. Additionally, this is also the first mid-range smartphone from the company to support Bixby. However, unlike flagship smartphones, there is no dedicated Bixy button. The Galaxy J7 series is one of the popular Samsung lineups in India, which hints that the smartphone might launch in India. The smartphone is likely to retail at a price of Rs 15,000+ mark.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo has a 5.5 inch 1920 x 1080 px IPS LCD display. Under the hood, the device is powered by the Exynos 7885 Octa-core chipset with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. As with the most of the Samsung phones, the storage will be expandable up to 256GB via micro SD.

The smartphone has a dual camera setup. It has a 13MP RGB sensor with an f/1.9 aperture and a 5MP Depth sensor with an f/1.9 aperture. These cameras produce the depth of field or bokeh effect, which keeps the subject in focus and blurs the background. The device runs on Android 8 Oreo with custom Samsung Experience UI on top.
