Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 With S Pen Launched

Samsung is currently the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer. However, it has been struggling in the tablet industry which is largely dominated by the Apple iPad. In an order to improve the aforementioned state, the company has launched an 8-inch tablet, Galaxy Tab A which has a contemporary design, is packed with worthy specifications and is shipped with an S Pen.

    Galaxy Tab A 8.0

The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 measures 201.5 x 122.4 x 8.9 and tips the scale at 325 grams. The front of the tablet harbours an 8-inch TFT display with 1920 x 1200 px resolution. The left and right bezels surrounding the display are quite thin while the top and bottom bezels are comparatively thicker. The bezel above the display makes room for the 5 MP front facing selfie camera and the earpiece for answering phone calls.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 packs the Exynos 7904 SoC which consists of an Octa-Core CPU and Mali G71-MP2 GPU. In terms of memory and storage, it features 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of ROM which is further expandable upto 512GG via a microSD card. The tablet is powered by a 4200 mAh battery and runs on an unspecified version of Android.

The rear of the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 carries the company branding and an 8 MP camera which can also capture 1080p videos at 30 fps. Connectivity options on the device include 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port and a 3.5 mm audio jack. • Redmi Partners With Marvel For Avengers: Endgame Movie

Redmi Partners With Marvel For Avengers: Endgame Movie

Xiaomi’s subsidiary Redmi separated from its parent company to exist independently as a brand back in the month of January. Redmi then launched two new smartphones, named Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro in the Indian and Chinese market. While the smartphones were received well with the users, the company didn’t do anything significantly different for the devices to stand out from the crowd. In a fresh announcement, Redmi has partnered up with Marvel Studios, a production house best known for their superhero movies, before the latter’s new release titled ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

    What Does The Partnership Mean?

Redmi’s official account posted an update a while ago on Chinese social networking website Weibo announcing the aforementioned partnership. Marvel Studios is all set to release its next movie, which is said to be one of the most highly anticipated releases of all time. Unfortunately, the companies didn’t reveal further details regarding the collaboration. But it is expected that Redmi may be planning to launch an Avengers special edition smartphone sometime near the movie’s release. While the movie will release in China on April 24, it will be available to watch for the rest of the world on April 26.

The partnership between Redmi and Marvel is not the first time a company has partnered with a production house before a major movie release. OnePlus last year also partnered with Marvel Studios and released a special Avengers edition OnePlus 6 smartphone. This was done to commemorate the production house’s major release that year titled ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.

Xiaomi, the parent company of Redmi also released a special edition Mi 9 last month in partnership with a movie named ‘Alita: Battle Angel’. A special or a limited edition smartphone is usually seen as a collector’s item and is really popular among fans of the said movie. A partnership between Redmi and Marvel is a surprising move and expected to get a positive response from the fans of both companies.

  • Apple iPhone 11 with Triple Camera Leaked

Apple iPhone 11 with Triple Camera Leaked

Rumours have been around for a very long time stating that Apple’s next iteration of flagships, the iPhone 11 will feature a triple camera setup. With almost all smartphone brands living up to the triple camera or quad camera norms, the iPhone 11 is expected to be Apple’s first smartphone with more than two cameras. A freshly leaked schematic from the company showcased the triple rear camera module of the device, and it may be a shift from Apple’s conventional method of design.

    About The Leak

    https://twitter.com/OnLeaks/status/1111353645768028160

The leak clearly shows a welding pattern for the upcoming Apple smartphone, and upon closer looks, one can make up quite a few ideas about how the speculated iPhone 11 will look. While most of the details are rather obscure, one feature that stands out is the layout of the cameras in the top left corner of the design, where the schematic depicts three circular cutouts and two square cutouts. Consequently, it seems that the flagship’s camera module will sport three camera sensors, a flash and what looks to be a microphone for directional audio capturing. Apart from the primary camera, one of the other sensors can be an ultrawide sensor, whereas the third could be a telephoto lens.

Previously, images of the iPhone’s camera had leaked with a different sensor arrangement, which has been negated with the most recent leak. Even though some leaksters labelled the new design as the upgraded version of the iPhone XR, it is very unlikely that Apple will redesign the aforementioned device. The upcoming iPhone is expected to feature Apple’s latest chip and an improved battery upgrade. Moreover, the iPhone 11 is speculated to feature reverse wireless charging, which will allow users to wirelessly charge their accessories including AirPods and other wireless charging compatible devices.

    Expected Availability

However, Apple fans should take this news with a grain of salt, because it is a leak after all. Apple is also rumoured to unveil a device with a flexible display to go up against other foldable smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Fold, Huawei Mate X and Xiaomi Foldable Smartphone. When and where these devices will be launched is a mystery to everyone as of now. The iPhone 11 may make an appearance in the second half of 2019.

  • Why Are Smartphones Becoming Expensive With Each Passing Day?

Why Are Smartphones Becoming Expensive With Each Passing Day?

Very few technology trends remain stagnant over time, but one thing that has managed to stay consistent is the increasing price factor of almost all premium smartphones out there. It just fails to accept the fact that “Everything that begins, eventually has a limit”. Rather, smartphones get pricier by every generation and version. In fact, some smartphone brands charge users extra for “limited edition” variants. And in fact, it is essentially the same smartphone.

How Expensive Are The Latest Devices?

If we turn the clock two or three years back, a majority of customers used to rant about ridiculously expensive $800 smartphones. They would make fun of smartphone brands which ventured into a fairy-phone land where smartphones can be sold higher than the price of a high-end laptop. Market analysts loved ridiculing brands like Apple, which priced their devices at prices hitting $800 or $900. But times have changed, and so have the smartphone prices. Now, they’re hitting $2,600 (roughly INR 1,80,000), and consumers are not even batting their eyelids.

New 2018 iPhoneFrom one perspective, the customers are to be blamed for the same. We, as consumers, have allowed the bar to be raised to a point where a smartphone worth $1000 is the norm for a premium device. A lot of analysts and consumers still blame Apple for the steep prices of smartphones nowadays. But you have to give it to the company which broke the 4-digit price barrier and started selling the iPhone X at $1000. Furthermore, the device sold incredibly well in the market, indicating that customers are not at all cash-shy when it comes to premium mobiles.

Once Apple proved it’s market worth with the iPhone X, companies like Samsung and Huawei followed the trail and started unveiling smartphones which exceeded the previously mentioned price point. But why exactly are these devices becoming pricier day by day? And above all, why are consumers still buying expensive handsets?

Reasons Why Smartphone Prices Keep Rising

Most companies when prodded regarding the aforementioned issue have a similar statement, and that is the increasing cost of smartphone components. It’s not a false statement at all since better smartphones require better components to drive them. With handsets with quad camera setups hitting the market, it can only be expected that the company is using top-notch modules in the smartphone. On the top, components are becoming smaller than ever in order to accommodate them in considerably smaller, thinner and lighter smartphones, which eventually leads to newer devices becoming more expensive than their predecessors.

One reason is the global economy, which is pushing smartphone brands to charge more per smartphone so as to fulfil targets for profit. When a user buys a smartphone, he pays for the smartphone (including its components), the labour and energy required to design that product, and salary of all the employees who were involved in designing and marketing that product. Companies can’t help it, the global economy puts too much pressure on the same.

Another solid aspect which is trending right now is competitive pricing, which is the underlying reason for a lot of smartphone brands placing their new devices at high price points. Some companies such as Huawei and Samsung follow competitive pricing, whereas some brands follow an entirely different route: Aggressive pricing, which sells more smartphones but returns a lower net profit, which brings us to the next point.

Why Does Apple Own The Major Chunk Of The Market?

Apple, which is a pioneer when it comes to bring premium flagships to the market, has an interesting past. In 2016, Apple’s sales drastically fell, with the company making less money in a single quarter than in the previous year. Since Apple’s major chunk of revenue is generated from iPhones, Apple decided to follow a strategy that will spur it for years to come. The company decided to sell their future smartphones at a higher price than before, which surprised a lot of analysts and consumers alike. When the company released the iPhone X, the positive feedback that the device received was a clear indicator of the success of Apple’s formula, a formula that a lot of smartphone brands are implementing in their marketing.

If customers would have refused to buy high-priced devices, the market may have toppled in favour of the consumers themselves. Instead, smartphone companies have learnt that people who will buy the most ridiculously priced handsets in the market will always exist. And as long as such buyers support the brand, the company will keep innovating and introducing worthwhile features in future smartphones.

Setting devices at a high price point may lead to different scenario too, where more customers become aware of the increasing smartphone prices and shifting towards brands like OnePlus, Xiaomi and Huawei, which price their products very aggressively. However, brands like Apple and Samsung will keep selling expensive devices even if the number of consumers decreases because the price point keeps getting higher with each smartphone launch. Although, it’s quite imminent that after a certain point in the future, some smartphones may convert into a piece of luxury which will not be affordable by everyone.

Huawei Introduces Wireless Charging Case For The P30

In an event held in Paris on the 26th of March, Huawei unveiled its latest flagship smartphones, the P30 and the P30 Pro. In addition to the smartphone duo, the company also introduced a variety of accessories for the devices. Both the newly launched smartphone are quite similar in terms of features and looks. One notable feature that the standard P30 misses out is the support for wireless charging. However, in order to provide the smartphone with this in-demand feature, Huawei has announced a wireless charging case.

    Huawei P30 Wireless Charging Case

The wireless charging case for the P30 has an attractive design with mesh grills on the rear. The case appears to be made out of plastic and rubber-like material which will provide for an easy-to-grip and comfortable experience. The rear also carries company branding and it has a precisely cut window for the triple camera and LED flash setup. Notably, the bottom side of the case has a slight ridge that sticks out of its surface.

The right side of the wireless case for the P30 has raised controls for the easy operability of the power button and volume rockers. The bottom of the case also has a cutout for the 3.5 mm audio jack which allows it to be used unobstructedly. The newly announced accessory is capable of charging the P30 with 10w of maximum power. Even though, company’s fast wireless charger can charge devices with upto 15W of power.

  • MIUI 11 To Get Extreme Battery Saving Mode And More

MIUI 11 To Get Extreme Battery Saving Mode And More

Earlier this year, Xiaomi announced that it had started development of the upcoming version of its custom UI, MIUI 11. While addressing questions asked users, company executives beamed some light on the key features of the anticipated update.

    MIUI 11 Updates and Feature

Although system icons on the current MIUI are well illustrated, they have largely remained the same since MIUI 6. The company did introduce some changes with the latest MIUI 10 update, however, they are not very significant. Therefore, in order to tackle the visual fatigue, the company is planning to use new icons and further enhance the user experience reported Xiaomi’s Product Manager, Liu Ming.

Another vital feature that will make its way with the upcoming MIUI 11 is the all new ultimate power saving mode. As the name suggests this will help extend the battery backup of the device once the battery capacity reaches a certain level. The feature when toggled will turn off all non-essential functions on the device and will switch its display into the black and white mode.

Furthermore, the MIUI 11 update will have enhanced Dark Mode support. In simpler words, the support for dark mode will further extend to third party applications including internet browsers. The update is also reported to add support for running applications in small windows which will help in boosting productivity.

  • Samsung Working On A Two Way Folding Smartphone Claims Patent

Samsung Working On A Two Way Folding Smartphone Claims Patent

The year 2019 so far has seen a handful of unique and innovative foldable smartphones. Many manufacturers have already tried their hands on this technology with more expected to follow suit soon. Samsung, one of the biggest smartphone OEMs in the world, showed of it’s device supporting this technology. Called the Galaxy Fold, it was launched alongside the Galaxy S10 series last month. But, a fresh patent filed by the company reveals that it is also planning to launch a two-way folding smartphone, which is similar to the Xiaomi’s foldable device that has leaked multiple times.

    Samsung’s Two Way Foldable Smartphone

The patent reveals what Samsung may be planning for its next foldable smartphone. First filed in the year 2017, the document of the patent showcases different images of the said device. Upon first inspection, it looks very similar to the handset Xiaomi revealed in a video a while ago. But in contrast to the former, the concept has thinner bezels and offers a larger sized screen in a compact frame. The bigger display can individually be folded from the left and right side of the device and be made into a smaller form factor.

An unusual finding from the images present in Samsung’s patent is the lack of any physical or hardware features. There is no opening like a charging port or a 3.5mm headphone jack anywhere to be found on the smartphone. Also not visible are any camera sensors on any side of the device. All of this may be an indication that Samsung is not nearly ready to launch the handset, or it may be the case that the company has figured out a workaround of the aforementioned hardware features to make the screen to body ratio as high as possible.

  • OnePlus 7 Leaked Case Strengthens The Claim Of Pop Up Selfie Camera

OnePlus 7 Leaked Case Strengthens The Claim Of Pop Up Selfie Camera

Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is soon expected to launch its upcoming flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 7. The device became the talk of the town soon after the launch of the OnePlus 6T which was announced last year. Leaks in the past have claimed that the upcoming handset will have a considerably different design in comparison to its predecessor. A freshly leaked render of the OnePlus 7 in its case supports the preceding claim.

    OnePlus 7 Design

According to the leaks, the rear of the OnePlus 7 has triple rear cameras which are disparate to its predecessor that has dual rear cameras. The image reveals that the ridged camera module also accommodates two little speckles which may be laser focusing sensors. The shape of the LED flash on the upcoming smartphone is also different which is circular.

Distinctly, the alleged OnePlus 7 has a pop-up selfie camera which is similar to the one present on the Vivo V15 Pro. The pop-up selfie camera will help OnePlus in further boosting the screen to body ratio of the forthcoming smartphone. Although the particular leak does not reveal the front fascia and features of the OnePlus 7, they were uncovered in another leak from the past.

The OnePlus 7 is alleged to sport a 6.5 inch AMOLED display that accommodates an on display fingerprint sensor. It is claimed to feature the Snapdragon 855 SoC which is manufactured using 7 nm fabrication technology. The smartphone will be powered by a 4,000 mAh battery that will also support 44w super fast Dash charging. Other details about the device will be revealed once the company officially launches it.

The company didn’t even let potential buyers use the smartphone, which aroused suspicion. A few days ago, a video was leaked which showed the infamous crease in the centre when the smartphone was unfolded. In a bid to control the outburst and panic caused by the same, Samsung has released a video showcasing the durability of the folding mechanism of the Galaxy Fold.

In a 34 second video released by Samsung, multiple Galaxy Folds are being opened and closed simultaneously. The company has claimed that this has been tested 2,00,000 times. According to its estimates, if one opens the mechanism 100-150 times a day, the smartphone’s hinge may last up to 5 years of use. The test took a week of test to achieve the aforementioned number. This video has been aimed at showcasing the durability of the device for buyers sceptical about the quality of the hinge mechanism.

Xiaomi’s Foldable Smartphone Spotted In Official Video Promo

The era of foldable smartphones is upon us, with 2019 being the year that fans across the globe will get their hands on foldable devices from brands like Huawei, Samsung and Xiaomi. Previously, a video was showcased which showed Xiaomi’s VP using the company’s first foldable smartphone. When it was announced that the Chinese company may not release it’s foldable device anytime soon, the fan chatter died a bit. However, the expectation bar may have been raised again, as a video teaser was posted on Xiaomi’s official Weibo page. And it showcased the foldable Xiaomi smartphone in all its glory.

    Showcased Features

In hindsight, the new teaser drops a lot of hints, the major one being the fact that Xiaomi may debut the foldable market in the smartphone very soon. The 10-second video teaser shows the device being handled by a user in both the “flat” mode and the “folded” mode. Noteworthy, the fact that the device is folded from both the edges may lead to the device being more portable and compact than its competitors. It may also mean that the smartphone has a bigger screen size than other foldable devices.

Another feature that was showcased in the video was the gesture control in the foldable smartphone. The feature seemed very handy for a device it’s size, especially when it is switched to the tablet mode. Also, the speed at which the phone was folded into the smartphone mode was also remarkable, considering that it literally shrunk to half its size in the blink of an eye.

    Expected Pricing & Availability

As far as pricing is concerned, the foldable smartphone may be priced aggressively as compared to other upcoming foldable smartphones. Seeing as how the Galaxy Fold from Samsung is priced at US$ 1,980, Xiaomi may adopt almost half the price of the same, placing it at under US$ 1000.

Google Pixel 3a, 3a XL Will Launch In A New Colour Variant, Pricing Tipped

Google is expected to change its smartphone strategy significantly in 2019. Unlike the previous generation, it has been leaked and speculated countless times that a ‘lite’ version of the Pixel 3 will make its debut this year. While previous reports have allegedly revealed the design and looks of the smartphone, there was a little information about the pricing. Fresh leaks have surfaced claiming that the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will be the name of the specced down of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones respectively and they will indeed launch in 2019. It also has uncovered more information about the device.

    Specifications & Features

    PIXEL 3XL

Previously leaked images of the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL revealed that the design of the smartphones will be reminiscent of its elder siblings. However, instead of an all-glass design on the Pixel 3 lineup, the Pixel 3a devices will have a polycarbonate frame. The front houses a 5.6-inch display on the Pixel 3a, while the 3a XL will have a 6-inch display with significant bezels around it. For biometrics and security, there will be a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The leaks further insinuate that the Pixel 3a will have a 10nm Snapdragon 670 SoC; while the Pixel 3a XL may feature the 10nm Snapdragon 710 processor. Both the chipsets have an Octa-core CPU and an Adreno 616 GPU. In terms of optics, both smartphones will have a similar rear camera to their elder siblings. This suggests that a 12.2 MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture is expected. Unfortunately, there is no information about the front-facing camera of smartphones. Like its siblings, the devices will also feature 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. For certain markets, a variant with 32GB internal storage is also expected.

Firefox Releases The Lockbox Password Manager For Android

With the increasing cases of privacy breaches and password leaks, it is important to stay secure in today’s day and age. However, with different usernames and passwords required on major web services, it can often get confusing to remember them all. In a bid to make that easier, Mozilla Corporation, best known for its popular Firefox web browser has launched Firefox Lockbox password manager for Android devices.

    Firefox Lockbox

The Firefox Lockbox is a password managing application that was launched for iOS devices last year. Like the Firefox Send launched a while ago, it is also based on the company’s Test Pilot system. It was an initiative to test a feature or an add-on to the Firefox browser before the tangible release. The latest application claims to be different than traditional password managers in a way that Firefox Lockbox uses the passwords already saved in the desktop Firefox browser. The app syncs the said usernames and passwords with the help of a Firefox account. Unlike the said password managers though, it does not give the option to generate a secure password.

Unfortunately, the Firefox Lockbox application does not allow manual entries of the account details. To save new account information, users will need to login to the web service from the desktop browser, save the details there and then it will automatically sync to their devices. For filling in the details easier, the autofill option can be enabled in the settings. The app uses 256 Bit encryption method to safely secure the details and supports the device’s fingerprint scanners and FaceID system for secure access to the software. The software is completely free to download and use on Android and iOS and the application weighs around 41Mb on Android. Interested users can visit the link here to download.

The dark mode feature is expected to be rolled out in the following weeks in the stable version of the software.

The dark mode feature has been included by many developers and manufacturers in their software lately. This is because it supposedly helps in saving battery life on OLED displays because the darker areas of the screen require little to no pixels to light up. It also helps in reducing the strain on the user’s eyes in dark environments. However, instead of a solid black colour, the dark mode of WhatsApp on Android is more of greyscale in nature. This will help in reducing the eye strain but might not be of much help in increasing the battery life of the smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy A2 Core Gets Bluetooth Certification, Launch Imminent

Samsung has changed its strategy for smartphones drastically in the year 2019. It was earlier known for launching devices with humble specifications at a ludicrous price tag. The latest Galaxy M and Galaxy A series showcase this change perfectly. The company, in a bid to compete with the increasing stronghold of Chinese smartphone OEMs in countries like India, has been very aggressive lately with their handsets. A few days ago, a leaked image revealed that it is working on an Android Go smartphone, purportedly the Galaxy A2 Core. Fresh leak reveals that it has been granted Bluetooth certification which suggests the launch of the device is imminent.

Smartphones under the Android Go initiative generally offer low-end specifications and usually have 1GB or less of RAM. A lighter version of the Android Operating System is installed on the devices which ensures that they last longer and run smoother for a longer period of time.

The Samsung Galaxy A2 Core will be the second Android Go device from the company, the first one being the Galaxy J2 Core. A few days ago, a known tipster leaked the images of the device. The Bluetooth certification listing reveals a few model numbers of the smartphone on the official website of the Bluetooth certification organization. Model numbers mentioned in the listing were SM-A260F, SM-A260F_DS, SM-A260G, and SM-A260G_DS; which insinuates different variants of the upcoming Galaxy A2 Core in global markets. The listing confirms the smartphone will support Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy (LE).

While the leak doesn’t mention any specifications of the Galaxy A2 Core, a recent listing on CPU benchmarking website Geekbench revealed key specifications of the Galaxy A2 Core. The device runs Android 8.1 Oreo Go edition out of the box and is expected to feature Samsung’s Experience UI on top.
