Facebook, Whatsapp, And Instagram Restore Services After Widespread Outage

On April 14 2019, a multitude of users faced issues while connecting to popular social media website, Facebook. The connection issues were not limited to Facebook, however, because Instagram and Whatsapp users were confronted with similar problems. This is not the first case when Facebook services have been down for a long time. Previously, in the month of March 2019, Instagram and Facebook faced a global outage that lasted for a long period of time (more than 24 hours). This time, the outage lasted for a shorter duration, but questions were still raised regarding Facebook’s vulnerability to external attacks.

Facebook InstagramFacebook’s spokesman stated that the company is acknowledging the issue faced by users and that all steps are being taken to resolve the issue. Apologizing for the inconvenience, the spokesman refused to divulge the cause of the outage. Rumours are floating around, which state that the reason for the outage of Facebook services was most likely a DDoS (Denial of Service) Attack. In a Denial of Service attack, multiple network nodes try to disrupt the server by accessing it at the same time.

    Downdetector Reports

Downdetector.com indicated that at the peak time, over 12,000 users reported issues with Facebook connectivity throughout the world. Regarding other applications, Instagram had an outage count of over 7,000 users, whereas Whatsapp peaked at 3,000 user reports. The live outage map on the website clearly exhibited that the majority of issues arose from the Asian and European continental regions.

Considering the popularity of the social media website, a downtime of even a few minutes is a cause of issue amongst its users, and when this happens on a regular basis, it turns into a matter of concern. A lot of people in the US did not face a similar issue, which hints towards the fact that maybe the Asian and European data centres for the company were attacked or disrupted because of some reason. Users may still face outages in the future, but as of now, the issue has been resolved as per the company.

  • Redmi Pro 2 Flagship Leaks, Shows Off Pop-Up Camera And 3.5 mm Audio Jack

Redmi Pro 2 Flagship Leaks, Shows Off Pop-Up Camera And 3.5 mm Audio Jack

In the month of January 2019, Redmi parted ways from Xiaomi and became a separate brand. Redmi Note 7 Pro and the Redmi Note 7 were the first smartphones from the brand, and they received rave reviews globally. Time and again, the company has been dropping hints that indicate the launch of a Redmi flagship device. Previously, a public source revealed the design, chipset and other significant features of the smartphone. Freshly leaked images suggest that the “Redmi Pro 2” smartphone will sport a 3.5mm headphone jack and a pop-up camera like the Vivo V15 Pro

The image was shared by the product director of Xiaomi, which was as  quickly removed from the social media website, Weibo. The image shot on the Mi 9 SE exhibited some bottles, but that’s not all the image contained. Upon zooming in to the right section of the image, a device with a pop-up camera and a 3.5mm headphone jack is clearly visible. Since no Redmi smartphone features a pop-up camera as of now, it is quite plausible that the smartphone is Redmi’s upcoming flagship, which will allegedly be called the “Redmi Pro 2”.

    Redmi Note 7 Pro

As per previous leaks, the Redmi Pro 2 will feature a similar design to the previously released Redmi Note 7 and the Note 7 Pro. Since the front camera is speculated to be housed in the pop-up mechanism, the device will feature a high screen-to-body ratio. As per images, the pop-up camera mechanism is present on the top left side of the smartphone, whereas the right side will house the 3.5mm headphone jack. The “Redmi Pro 2” is expected to sport a  gradient design on the back panel. Furthermore, it may have an in-display fingerprint scanner which is slowly becoming the standard for flagship smartphones.

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro

It has been confirmed that the flagship smartphone will run on the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 855 chipset, which powers a multitude of flagship devices like the Samsung Galaxy S10 lineup. The chipset comprises of an octa-core Kryo 485 CPU and the Adreno 640 chip for graphics. The device is expected to sport a triple camera module, with a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor. Reports also suggest that the front camera of the smartphone will have 32 MP resolution. In terms of memory and storage, the base variant of the smartphone is expected to feature 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The device may be powered by a 4000 mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.

  • Do We Actually Need Multiple Cameras On Smartphones?

Do We Actually Need Multiple Cameras On Smartphones?

When the Sharp J-SH04 was first released by J-Phone in the year 2000, it made ripples that laid the basis for some of the most innovated and researched upon technology today. Mobile cameras were never a thing before the 2000s. People had to carry a separate (much bulkier) camera if they had to capture images on-the-go, which, to be honest, wasn’t on-the-go at all. So when the J-SH04 was first launched in Japan, people were surprised, shocked and skeptical at the same time. Surprised because nobody could have ever thought of including a camera in a mobile phone. Shocked because it was actually a portable camera they could carry around. But most of all, skeptical, because of just one question: Will mobile cameras ever be able to replace conventional point-and-shoot cameras?

Where Multi-Camera Setups Became A Thing
    HTC EVO 3D

Fast forward to almost 11 years later, when HTC released the world’s first dual camera setup in a smartphone, which was the EVO 3D. The device claimed to capture the best-in-class 3D images at that time, but unfortunately, the device could never hit the home run in the market. The dual-camera technology, however, was adopted by multiple smartphone OEMs, and thereon, numerous smartphone with more than one camera made their way into the market . Dual cameras gave way to triple cameras, triple camera sensors were replaced by quad-camera modules and eventually, in February 2019, Nokia announced the world’s first penta-lens smartphone: the Nokia 9 Pureview. That is right, a smartphone with 5 rear camera sensors, all placed next to each other. The real question is, do we actually need that many cameras on a smartphone?

    Nokia 9 Pureview

It seems that when companies ran out of megapixels to use with their cameras, they started incorporating multiple cameras with varied functionalities. However, it sure seems to be working out, as the overall image quality has drastically improved. Smartphone cameras with “crazy” zoom capabilities have occupied the market, and the selling point is, those cameras can zoom upto a point where the human eye stops comprehending. It all comes down to one statement: If you want your images worth all the effort, then you must spend on your smartphone. Because smartphone prices are directly proportional to increasing device camera standards.

    Or Are They?

    Benefits Of Additional Cameras
    Huawei Mate 20 Pro

The additional camera sensors are not mereley gimmicks, in fact, they can be used in significantly enhancing the image quality. For instance, an ultra wide sensor has a lens with a shorter focal length than other sensors, enabling users to capture wider shots with a wider FOV (Field of view). A telephoto sensor enhances the zooming capabilities of the smartphone, and the monochrome sensor captures a drastically high amount of details in a scene with the the help of image capturing buckets (also known as photosites). Multiple camera sensors on a smarpthone can undoubtedly improve its photo and video capturing capability. However, it is not the sole factor that can impove a devices camera performance. As demonstrated by the Google Pixel smartphone lineup, a single sensor with optimised software can also produce praiseworthy results.

    The Odd One Out
    Google Pixel 3 XL

A very intriguing smartphone is the Google Pixel. Google’s current flagship smartphone, the Pixel 3 XL is one of the best camera smartphone in the market. Noteworthy, the device only has a single rear camera. How did the company manage to achieve such a feat with just one sensor? The answer lies in the software optimization, and Google has exceeded in that particular area. AI (Artificial Intelligence) integrated with Google’s camera supports robust image processing. And surprisingly it’s on par with several other smartphones that have multiple camera sensors. In April 2019, Huawei released the P30 Pro, which is plausibly the best device to showcase the benefits of a smartphone with multiple camera sensors.

    Huawei P30 Pro

The P30 Pro combines aggressive software optimization with three cameras and does wonders. In fact, the device features a very unique periscopic camera setup, enabling 5x optical zoom in the device. Furthermore, P30 Pro’s camera uses an RYYB sensor, as Huawei claims that the sensor captures 40 percent more light than a conventional camera sensor. This enables the P30 Pro to capture staggering night shots. In a dark room where the human eye has trouble perceiving details, the Huawei P30 pro makes it look easy. Moreover, the device is the only smartphone in the market which supports 50x digital zoom.

    Samsung Galaxy A9

Both the aforementioned smartphones contradict each other’s statements. Is it just about the number of cameras on the device, or is it just concerned with the AI and software optimization of the same? Or maybe, a well-balanced combination where the software and a multitude of cameras work together to create a perfect image is all we need.

What Features Should You Actually Look For?
    OnePlus 6T

In addition to image processing, smartphones with good zoom capabilities are also a necessity nowadays, because an all-round performing camera isn’t just born out of software optimization. If your preference is “portrait-mode-selfies”, prefer a smartphone camera with a wide aperture (size of the shutter hole). Furthermore, having a wider aperture on the smarpthone’s camera enables it to capture well lit shots in lower light. Last but not the least, Megapixels, even though they aren’t an accurate representation of how good the smartphone camera is (contrary to popular belief). More megapixels equals more details in larger images, so if you are into zooming and extracting details from the images, your first preference has to be the megapixel count.

Smartphone brands will keep rolling out devices with multiple cameras, that’s for sure, but as long as software advancements continue to flourish, devices with single cameras and multi-camera setups will keep going head-to-head. Even though “two cameras” do sound better than “one camera” on paper, it’s still relevant to the usage of the smartphone, as mentioned previously, but to answer the sought question, No. More cameras doesn’t necessarily pertain to the fact that the smartphone will capture better images than other counterparts with a lower number of cameras.

  • Codenames For Google Pixel 4 And Pixel 4 XL Revealed

Codenames For Google Pixel 4 And Pixel 4 XL Revealed

2019 seems to be like a big year for Google. Ahead of the anticipated launch of the Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, the company is also building up hype for its next flagship devices, including the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL. The device has been spotted twice in the Android Open Source Project, indicating that the company is gearing up for the release of the devices later this year. In recent leaks, the codenames for the Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL and a third unknown pixel device were revealed.

On April 11 2019, a commit (a move to make changes in a code permanent) was posted to the AOSP (Android Open Source Project), which was attempting to correct an anomaly of Android’s SELinux Policy. Regarding the code, the developers were trying to explain the fix for the aforementioned issue using the comments (comments are code lines that are not executed with the code) in the project. The list of internal files provided in the comments includes the codenames of a total of eight devices, out of which two are Panasonic devices, and the remainder are six Google devices.

Four of the aforementioned Google smartphones are already known (Marlin or the Pixel XL, Wahoo or the Pixel 2/2 XL, Crosshatch or the Pixel 3 XL and the Pixel 3a XL), leaving two unknown devices in the fray. Codenamed “Coral” and “Needlefish”, the two devices are the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL respectively. Sources also reveal that a third codename is present, which is unusual for a Pixel device, because the codename is actually Flame”. Since Google has always been using sea-life related codenames for its devices, this is a bit of a surprise, but in hindsight, a fish with the name of “flame angelfish” actually exists.

Furthermore, in a previous Geekbench listing, the alleged Google Pixel 4 is listed under the same codename i.e. Coral, confirming that the Google  Coral is actually the Google Pixel 4. The smartphones were reported to feature the 7nm Snapdragon 855 chipset bundled with at least 6GB of RAM. However, the question which still remains unanswered is the identity of the third unknown device, codenamed “Needlefish”. Rumours say that it may be the much-anticipated Pixel Watch, but nothing can be said for sure. The Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are expected to be unveiled in the latter half of 2019.

  • NVIDIA Rolls Out Driver With Ray Tracing Support For GTX Graphics Cards

NVIDIA Rolls Out Driver With Ray Tracing Support For GTX Graphics Cards

NVIDIA unveiled its RTX series of graphics cards in the month of September, 2018, which featured Ray Tracing – a feature that boosts the realism of shadows, lighting and other visual effects in real time.  While the resource-consuming feature was an RTX series exclusive at launch, NVIDIA has now released a new driver for GTX Graphics Cards. The driver provides Ray Tracing effects to be activated for respective cards, enabling GTX 10 and 16 series users to experience real-time ray tracing for select games on their setups.

Which Games Support Ray Tracing In GTX Cards?

GTX series users can test out the feature in only select games for now, which include Battlefield 5, Metro: Exodus and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. As per NVIDIA, if the users don’t want to download the complete game for any reasons, they can download free tech demos for the same games from NVIDIA’s Official Website. Gamers can test out reflective models and effects in Battlefield 5, while Metro Fans can experiment with Global Illumination in the recently released Metro: Exodus.

But there is a catch to all of this. GTX series users cannot actually experience the same functionality as present in the RTX series graphics cards. For starters, GTX series GPUs will run the Ray-tracing-based games at significantly lower and choppier frame rates. This is because the company is just using the GTX graphics cards to depict how Ray Tracing will work for each individual frame, not the complete game.

How Does Ray Tracing Perform In GTX Series Cards?

As per reports, GTX 1080 Ti (the most powerful GPU in the 10-series) renders “Shadow of the Tomb Raider” at a mere 30fps with Ray Tracing turned on in addition to the highest settings. All this was tested with the Core i9 CPU, and what’s more interesting is the fact that NVIDIA’s recently released GTX 1660 Ti came closer to GTX 1080 in terms of gaming performance with Ray Tracing turned on. While the GTX 10-series is built on the Pascal architecture, GTX 16-series incorporates the Turing architecture.

This bold step by NVIDIA might relate to two possibilities for the company. One, to demonstrate the viability of Ray Tracing technology in future games so as to boost the popularity of the RTX 20-series GPUs. Or maybe, the company wants to include full RT support in future 10-series Graphics cards, if the company is planning to ever release one.

As mentioned before, two new monitors were also brought to light by the Taiwanese technology company, which are the ConceptD CM7 and the CP7. The CM7 has a huge screen size of 34 inches, whereas the CP7’s screen measures at 27 inches. The ConceptD CM7 is directed towards users who work in print design and manufacturing, while on the other hand, the CP7 is meant for users who work with digital content. Both CP7 and CM7 support 4K resolution, with the smaller CM7 featuring a 144Hz refresh rate.

Some extraordinary features have already been unveiled, such as the “Hyper Video” feature which may enable the user to shoot super smooth slow-motion videos at frame rates of 960fps. On April 11, the company posted some camera samples from the upcoming smartphone.

The images are taken during the phase of dusk and the night, and they bear watermarks in Chinese, which when translated, reveal significant information regarding the Z6 Pro’s camera. The images exhibit detailed levels of colours and brightness. The faint layer of light on top of the images give them a natural look. As deduced from the overlaid watermarks, the camera has a pixel size of 2.9 ?m, indicating towards a camera with advanced night mode capabilities. Additional support for gaming may include an inbuilt cooling system and support for gaming accessories such as Bluetooth gamepads and gaming-oriented Bluetooth earphones.

    Z5 Pro GT

As mentioned before, Lenovo is seemingly directing the focus of its fans and customers towards the camera of the Z6 Pro, which is speculated to be integrated with features such as super-anti shake, ultra-wide angle lens, super night-mode and Super-slow-motion video mode. Moreover, the 100-megapixel camera mode, which is being teased by the company would be an interesting feature to watch out for, even though Lenovo may use an AI workaround for the same on the Z6 Pro.

  • Samsung Galaxy A70 With 6.7 Inch Display And 4500 mAh Battery Launched

Samsung Galaxy A70 With 6.7 Inch Display And 4500 mAh Battery Launched

Regarding graphics, the SoC has the Adreno 610 GPU. For optics, the smartphone has a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 32MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture; combined with an 8MP ultra-wide angle sensor with an aperture of f/2.2 and a 5MP f/2.2 depth sensor. • LG Patents Smartphone With A Foldable Transparent Display

LG Patents Smartphone With A Foldable Transparent Display

In answer to “Is there any more innovation left for future devices?”, smartphone brands are patenting technologies that were never-heard-of-before. For instance, Lenovo previously patented a clamshell foldable design with a narrow display, and Xiaomi was granted a patent for a smartphone with a bottom notch. South-Korean multinational technology company, LG has been granted a patent for a smartphone with a foldable transparent display.

The company has been experimenting with the transparent screen design for quite some time now, which was last spotted at CES 2019 (Consumers Electronics Show) when LG showcased a transparent OLED television. Its display had a transparency of 40%. Previously, on SID (Society for Information Display), LG unveiled a flexible and transparent 4K UHD OLED display with a screen size of 77 inches. It may be possible that the company incorporates a similar technology in its future smartphone designs.

    About The Patent

On April 9, 2019, a patent was published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Originally filed by LG Electronics more than three years ago, the patent clearly depicts a smartphone with a flexible transparent display. A lot of details are included in the patent, such as the UI (User Interface), operation and the materials required to make the display. This may very well be the first foldable transparent smartphone of its kind.

    Design And Features

As per the patent, the smartphone is entirely made of the flexible display, which is incorporated both on the inside and outside the foldable smartphone. The handset can be unfolded to almost double its size, which then enables the user to operate it in the tablet mode. While unfolded, both the left and the right parts can independently turn opaque or transparent, indicating that separate modules will be used for the two adjacent sides of the device. As per the patent, the transparency of the smartphone changes with the way it is held, which is quite interesting.

If the smartphone is lying flat on a surface, the display will exhibit a very low degree of transparency. However, when the smartphone is picked up and folded, the transparency will be clearly visible. Upon increasing the transparency beyond 20%, the rear touch sensor of the device is enabled, with the help of which users can operate the flexible transparent display from the rear. This feature seeks to maximize functionality in such a smartphone.

    Expected Availability

The device will feature a multi-lens camera system, with a multi-camera rear module and a single front camera. A piece of technology like this can still take a lot of time before being commercialized and incorporated in a smartphone. However, considering that foldable smartphones were not even a viable idea some years before, we could see LG releasing their very own flexible transparent smartphone over the course of the next few years. And of course, it will be nothing like any other smartphone released till now.

  • The Best Peripherals For Your Gaming Setup

The Best Peripherals For Your Gaming Setup

As Gaming PCs are becoming more popular day-by-day, people are starting to invest a fair chunk in building their setups. If a user has invested a majority of his time configuring his/her PC, chances are that he/she might have overlooked an aspect which holds a very important spot in a gaming setup. Peripherals are the basis of any complete setup, and choosing the best ones can be a little tricky. That is the exact reason why professional gamers spend so much time picking out the perfect peripherals for the most optimal experience.

With the evolution of gaming, a lot of brands have emerged which aim to provide catered products as per the consumer base. For instance, streamers may require more flashy and aesthetic peripherals than regular gamers, who might end up focusing more on specifications of the same. The same may also depend on the game in concern. For example, if you play more FPS games than MOBAs, keyboards and mice with fewer add-on keys are perfect for you. Similarly, while playing MOBAs, macro keys and buttons come in handy.

Let’s have a look at some best-in-class gaming peripherals, ranging from keyboards to mice and gaming headphones as well.

    Gaming Keyboards

A lot of people pay more attention to gaming mice rather than the keyboard, but it is important to note that both the peripherals complement each other equally. Since a keyboard can be used for more than one task (for instance, typing and gaming), it makes sense to focus on the keyboard as well. And since membrane keyboards have given way to mechanical keyboards, it would be more viable to get a good mechanical keyboard that serves your purpose.

Listed below are 2 keyboards that offer nearly everything you need in a mechanical gaming keyboard:

    Corsair K95 RGB Platinum

The K95 Platinum is a keyboard that has a plethora of features, which is apparent from its huge size. Keeping in mind that it will occupy its fair share of space in your desk, the K95 RGB Platinum delivers on all fronts. The keyboard has MX Brown switches, which don’t produce as much sound as Cherry MX Blue switches, so the keyboard doesn’t create a huge racquet when you decide to type on it. In terms of functionality, the K95 has a metallic volume wheel, dedicated media controls and above all, class-leading RGB integration, using which you can easily sync it with other peripherals. A detachable wrist rest ensures maximum wrist comfort while playing. Moreover, users can swap the WASD keys with a set of textured keycaps that come bundled with the keyboard.

    HyperX Alloy Elite

If you are on a bit of a budget, the HyperX Alloy Elite is a perfect package. While not as “beautiful” as the Corsair K95, the Alloy Elite packs all the necessary set of features required in a good mechanical gaming keyboard. Customers can choose from Cherry MX Brown, Blue and Red keys on the keyboard. Albeit it doesn’t have a set of dedicated Macro keys, it is priced much lower than the K95 keyboard. Also, the keyboard features just a single Red backlit version for the base model. Similar to the K95 RGB Platinum, it is bundled with an extra set of silver keycaps for the WASD keys as well as 4 number keys. N-key rollover ensures that all the key presses will be registered without any errors.

    Gaming Mice

As mentioned previously, a good gaming mouse always complements the keyboard. This means that the first preference while choosing a gaming mouse is that it should fit the hand’s native grip. There are a total of three general grips: The first is the palm grip, in which the user grips the mouse with his complete hand and rests his/her palm on the rear section of the device. The second grip is the Claw Grip, where the person’s fingertips are almost perpendicular to the mouse click buttons. The last grip is named as the “finger grip” because the fingers rest flat on the mouse click buttons themselves.

Listed below are the two of the best gaming mice available right now.

    Logitech G502

Logitech’s own prized baby, the G502 looks like a hybrid of the Logitech MX518 and G500. Packing one of the best native 16,000 CPI sensors in the market, the G502 weighs at about 121 grams with all its weights removed (the mouse comes bundled with extra weights). The mouse is best for palm grip users and has a premium build quality that makes it a pleasure to use. A notable feature of the mouse is the fact that the scroll wheel of the same can be switched between a notched spinning mode and a free spinning mode.

    Razer Deathadder Elite

Razer Deathadder is a mouse that needs no introduction to gamers. The first generation of the Razer DeathAdder was unveiled in 2006. Since then, the mouse has undergone significant improvements, and almost 10 years later, the Deathadder Elite was launched by the company. The mouse is an all-round performer, and it uses a 16,000 CPI sensor, which is developed by Pixart in collaboration with Logitech. The sensor claims to provide 99.4% resolution accuracy, which means that the mouse delivers best-in-class tracking.

    Headphones

Some of the best games available for PC are enjoyed in isolation. Although getting a good pair of speakers is necessary too, headphones enable you to cut-off from sounds around you and focus on the task at hand. Moreover, multiplayer games require acute sound sense, for hearing the sound of footsteps approaching can be a difference between winning and losing the game. Overall, it has been deduced that wired headphones provide better sound quality, but with technology evolving at an extremely fast pace, wireless headphones have become equally popular.

Given below are two performance-worthy gaming headphones.

    Steelseries Arctis Pro w GameDAC

If you can shell out the money for it, the Steelseries Arctis Pro GameDAC provides the best audio quality available amongst a variety of headphones today. The headphones offer high quality lossless audio streaming feature with a 5Hz-40KHz frequency response range. The headphones sport a modern design, which male them perfect for regular usage as well. The highlight of this headset is the GameDAC, which comprises of the following components:

    1. A Digital-to-analog converter
    2. A preamplifier
    3. A control centre to regulate volume levels

Moreover, aesthetics-wise, an RGB ring encasing the earcups gives the headphones an attractive look.

    HyperX Cloud Alpha

Priced at less than half of the price of Steelseries Artics, the HyperX Cloud Alpha may not have a DAC module, but it is one of the best performers on the scene. Sporting no extra gimmicks, the HyperX Cloud Alpha are bass-rich, making them the perfect companions to both music and gaming. The headphones have 50mm dual chamber neodymium drivers, which accurately reproduce frequencies. The headphones provide a high amount of comfort over long periods of time and feature a decent microphone.

  • Canon Launches The EOS Rebel SL3 DSLR Camera

Canon Launches The EOS Rebel SL3 DSLR Camera

Amidst heavy rumours, Canon launched the new EOS Rebel SL3 DSLR on April 10, 2019. The company claims that the Rebel SL3 is its smallest and lightest DSLR so far. It offers almost similar specifications to the mirrorless EOS M50 but has some significant upgrades that give it an edge over its predecessors. Moreover, the DSLR is Canon’s first DSLR model to feature Dual Pixel Autofocus with eye detection during live-view shooting mode.

Canon EOS Rebel SL3 Features And Specifications

Weighing at 449 grams, the Rebel SL3 packs a DIGIC 8 Processor, along with a 3.0-inch touchscreen (that flips around for selfies or vlogging) and 4K video support. The camera features a 24.1 megapixel APS-C (Advanced Photo System Type-C) sensor, which is also used in Nikon and Sony DSLRs. Furthermore, the Rebel SL3 offers a 9AF point-optical system and spot focus feature, so that users can accurately select their subjects while capturing images.

The Canon EOS Rebel SL3 offers an on-sensor Dual-Pixel system, which may not be as efficient as the optical system, but still provides accurate eye-tracking Auto-Focus in 1080p videos considering the price of the budget DSLR camera. The SL3 also takes the spot for being the first Canon Rebel Series camera that can shoot in 4K resolution. A downside of the camera is the lack of sensor-based-in-body stabilization, which forces the Rebel SL3 to use Digital Image Stabilization. Moreover, the camera supports wireless image transfer via built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth across smartphones and tablets.

Photographers can utilize the Burst Shoot feature at a rate of 5fps. The DSLR has a native ISO range of up to 25,600 and an expanded ISO range of 51,200. In terms of the battery, Canon claims that the camera can shoot a total of 1,630 images on a single charge, and the number comes down to 350 shots with the Live View feature turned on. Talking of features, another nice addition to the camera feature list is the “smooth skin” mode, which enables the user to blur the background (similar to portrait mode in smartphones) without the presence of a fast lens.
