Nova 5i Pro With Kirin 810 Thrashes Redmi K20 In Geekbench

Earlier this month, Xiaomi launched the Redmi K20 in India whose key highlighting features include the Snapdragon 730 SoC, Indisplay fingerprint scanner and a motorised popup camera. As it seemed, Xiaomi has outperformed all its competitors, the world’s second largest manufacturer, Huawei might have a wild card up its sleeve which holds the potential to steal the K20’s thunder.

Along with Nova 5 and Nova 5 Pro, which were launched last month, Huawei was also expected to announce the Nova 5i Pro which was nowhere to be found. Earlier this week, the promotional material of the smartphone was leaked and now, its performance estimates have also been revealed in the form of Geekbench benchmark. Surprisinlgy, the Nova 5i Pro with the Kirin 810 has managed to surpass Redmi K20 with a substanial margin.

Following are the single core and multi core Geekbench results of the two smartphones (1,2):

Redmi K20  Huawei Nova 5i Pro
    Single Core 2514 2782
    Multi Core 6671 7694

Apparently, the Huawei Nova 5i Pro has much higher multi core score and slightly higher single core score than the Redmi K20. Although benchmarks are not the only factor that determine the performance of a device, but sheer horse power definitely has an upper hand.

Moving ahead, the Nova 5i Pro has been listed on the mandatory certification website TENAA, that has unconvered all its specs allowing for a detailed spec comparison between the two mid range devices.

We believe, if the company is able to price the Nova 5i Pro close to the K20 i.e in the range of Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000, Huawei offering can pose a serious threat to the latter. The launch of the Nova 5i Pro is expected to happen before the end of August.

  • Realme X Vs Redmi K20 : Which One Should You Pick?

Realme X Vs Redmi K20 : Which One Should You Pick?

Earlier this month, Realme launched the Realme X mid-range handset which due to its value for money was able to turn a lot of heads. Now, India’s number one smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi has launched its mid-ranger which is dubbed the Redmi K20. Due to similar pricing and features of the two handset, a confusing situation for the end-user has manifested. In this article, we will look into each and every aspect of both devices which will subsequently help the reader in selecting the best choice based on their needs and requirements.

    Design and Build

Due to the highly subjective point of view of different human beings, it is hard to state which smartphone out of the two has a better design. Nevertheless, we can still place the Realme X and Redmi K20 head to head, on behalf of aspects like the type of notch and materials used.

In terms of build, the Redmi K20 has glass on both the front and back which is held together with an aluminium alloy chassis. On the other hand, the Realme X has front glass but both the rear panel and chassis of the smartphone are made of hard plastic. Besides both devices have a motorised module on top which houses the front-facing selfie camera.

Due to a glass back which is extremely hard to scratch and an ultra-durable aluminium chassis, the winner of this round we feel is the Redmi K20.

    Display
Realme X vs Redmi K20 Display

The display of any smartphone is definitely one of its most crucial feature and the contenders in this face-off are no exception. The Redmi K20 features a 6.39 inch display whereas the Realme X has a 6.53 inch display which is a tad better larger. Both smartphones are equipped with a Super AMOLED display which provides for adequately bright illumination and great viewing angles.

Moreover, display on both the Realme X and Redmi  K20 is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. In terms of the pixel density, the display on the former has a ppi of 394 ppi while the latter has a display with 403 ppi. Even though Redmi K20’s display has slightly higher pixel density, the difference is inconsiderable. Besides human eye can only different pixels if the density is below 326 ppi.

Therefore, due to a larger sized display, the winner of this round, according to us is the Realme X.

    Battery
Realme X vs Redmi K20 Battery

Another important factor that buyers consider while choosing a smartphone is battery capacity. The Realme X has a 3765 mAh battery while the Redmi K20 has a 4,000 mAh battery. Both handsets also support fast charging, the former supports 18 W Qualcomm Quick charge technology whereas the latter supports 20 W VOOC 3.0 proprietary charging technology.

Even though there is negligible difference between the battery capacities on the Realme X and the Redmi K20, Xiaomi’s offering is able to steer ahead due to the Snapdragon 730 SoC which is manufactured using 8 nm technology. In comparison, the Snapdragon 710 on the Realme smartphone is manufactured using 10 nm process.

Though, not by a huge margin, the Redmi K20 is able to regain its lead in the battery department.

    Camera
Realme X vs Redmi K20 Display

For photography, the Redmi K20 has a total of four cameras out of which three are placed on the rear and one selfie sensor is housed in the motorised pop-up camera module. On the contrary, the Realme X only has a total of 3 cameras, out of which two are present on the back and one sensor is placed in the popup module on top.

Speaking of resolution, the Realme X has a 16 MP sensor while the Redmi K20 is equipped with a 20 MP shooter. Nevertheless, a lot is dependent on the image processing and both the companies load their handsets with tons of artificial photo and video enhancing capabilities. Hence, we cannot pick an outright winner in the front camera department. Though the things are a bit different when it comes to the rear camera setup.

The triple camera setup on the Redmi K20 is comprised of an f/1.8 aperture equipped 48 MP Sony IMX 582 sensor, 8 MP telephoto sensor and a 13 MP ultrawide sensor. The Realme X, on the other hand, has a 48 MP Sony IMX 586 sensor and a 5 MP depth sensor. On paper, the Sony IMX 586 on the latter is better than the IMX 582 on the Redmi K20. The additional ultrawide and telephoto sensor provide the Xiaomi’s offering with a clear advantage.

The winner in the photography domain, according to us is the Redmi K20. For users who are interested in knowing the video capturing capability, both devices can capture 2160p videos from the rear camera setup and 1080p videos at 30 fps from the single selfie camera.

    Chipset
Realme X vs Redmi K20 Display Camera Processor

The Realme X features the Snapdragon 710 SoC while the Redmi K20 features the Snapdragon 730 SoC. Both the chipsets are manufactured by Qualcomm and have Octa-Core CPU. As previously mentioned, the Snapdragon 730 is fabricated using 8 nm process whereas the Snapdragon 710 is manufactured using 10 nm process.

Besides being more power-efficient, the Snapdragon 730 also incorporates the superior 618 GPU. Hence, with the better overall chipset, the Redmi K20 steer far ahead from the Realme X.

    Other Notable Features

Connectivity options on both the Redmi K20 and the Realme X are similar. The two devices support 802.11 ac Wi-fi, Bluetooth 5.0, Dual 4G VoLTE and USB Type C ports. But, the offering from Xiaomi additionally supports NFC which is used for wireless payments and instantly connecting or sharing data between compatible handsets.

Moreover, the Redmi K20 has a USB C 2.0 port which offers faster data transfer speed than USB C 1.0 which is present on its contender. For biometric security, both smartphones also have an indisplay fingerprint scanner, in addition to face unlock and the conventional screen lock. The two devices also support 3.5 mm audio jack which is slowly becoming a novelty.

Due to built-in NFC support and faster USB C technology, the Redmi K20 once manages to defeat the Realme X.

    Price

Both the Redmi K20 and Realme X are offered in two storage options for which the price is as follows:

    Realme X Redmi K20
    4 GB + 128 GB: 15,999 6 GB + 64 GB: 21,999
    8 GB + 128 GB: 19,999 6 GB + 128 GB: 23,999

To conclude, both the Realme X and the Redmi K20 are very comprehensive smartphones that are offered lucrative price. • Top 5 Linux Distros That Are Worth Your Attention

Top 5 Linux Distros That Are Worth Your Attention

Just like Windows and MacOS, a third operating system that has been in existence for a very long period is Linux. The operating system was originally developed by Linus Torvalds in the year 1991, who till date remains a key contributor to the patform.

For users who do not know, Linux is a family of open source operating systems which is available in a large number of variations which are often referred to as “distros”. The word “open source” means that every Linux user holds the right to alter or redistribute their very own customised version of Linux with or without a charge.

To make it easier to understand, the core of the OS which is the “Linux Kernel” can be referred to as a universal engine. While users have the option to choose the type of car body or the features that they desire, as per their wants and requirements. Due to its open source nature, the Linux Core is picked up by several organisations or even small group of computer nerds that have developed their very own “distro’s”. Out of hundreds of registered Linux flavours, we have compiled a list of top 5 options that you must check out.

    Deepin OS

Right off the bat, Deepin OS is one of the most elegant looking Linux distros. It makes use of translucent animations and panes which provide very appealing aesthetics. The development of the OS is led by Wuhan Deepin Technology co which is a Chinese software organisation.

Besides having a refined user interface, it is also very easy to install. Out of the box, it has a variety of native applications built in which include Deepin package manager, Deepin terminal, Deepin Movie, Deepin font manager, Deepin System Monitor, etc.

    Minimum/Recommended Hardware:

    • CPU: Intel Pentium IV 2GHz or higher
    • Memory: 1 GB (recommended 2 GB)

    Elementary OS

If you have ever used a Mac computer, you will feel right at home with Elementary OS. The OS was first released in the year 2011 with the codename “Jupiter” and has now reached its fifth stable iteration which is called “Juno”.

In addition to a simplified user interface, it has a very stable system as it is based on Ubuntu LTS. For kids or newcomers, this OS can turn out an easy to learn option. Top 5 Failed Mobile Phones That Have Left A Mark On Technology History

Ever since the first mobile phone was created in the year 1973 by Motorola, the industry has seen significant technological advancement; which has led us to where we are today, in a world of super advanced smartphones. But, in all the innovation, there were many failures. And some were so remarkable that they are still talked about today, as they have left a considerable mark on technology history. Here are the top 5 mobile phones that have failed badly in the market because of many reasons, but are still remembered for a major reason.

    Nokia N-Gage

    Mobile Phone

The Nokia N-Gage was released back in the year 2003, when the company was at the pinnacle of mobile technology. Phones from Nokia were everywhere and for good reason, but then it unveiled the N-Gage. Featuring a weird design, the mobile phone was marketed as a phone, a portable media device and a gaming console. Unfortunately, the N-Gage failed to deliver on either of the promises. The sub-brand was subsequently shut down in 2009, and the mobile phone has been since known as the Taco Phone, because of the shape. The Nokia N-Gage has been honoured by being included in the (in)famous Museum of Failures in Sweden.

    BlackBerry Z10

BlackBerry, like Nokia, was also a force to be reckoned with in the early 2000s. The brand has been credited for making some of the most iconic mobile phones of its time; most of which were really popular among businessmen and corporate because of the enterprise level security and the amazing keyboard. However, after the rise of the popularity of iOS and Android, the BlackBerryOS started to feel outdated and was also void of essential applications.

The company then tried rebranding itself and launched the Z10 running BBOS 10. It was a touchscreen smartphone running an overhauled user interface. What was enticing, is that it also supported Android apps, but the jarring interface and the poor touch support made the Z10 a commercial flop.BlackBerry, in a bid to stay relevant, kept supporting the BBOS10 until the year 2015. The company then kept losing revenue and finally succumbed to using Android in smartphones starting the BlackBerry Priv in 2015. The licensing rights to the iconic brand now belong to TCL which still makes Android smartphones.

    Samsung Galaxy Note 7

It wasn’t so much that the Galaxy Note 7 from Samsung was a commercial flop, the smartphone failed as a product. When the company announced the device in the year 2016, the audience was wowed by all the impressive hardware and software features. It was such a hit product, that Samsung managed to sell millions of devices within days of release, and that’s where the problems started.

A lot of users reported that their Galaxy Note 7 started heating up, catching fire and then eventually blowing to smithereens. Samsung tried controlling the situation by recalling all the smartphones and fixing them. But even after the fix was supposedly put into place, more reports of Galaxy Note 7’s blowing up kept surfacing online. This led to the company eventually killing the product altogether.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was so infamous that memes about it are still popular today. It is also banned from being carried in most flights. The company and the customers have since moved away from the frightening experience, but the Galaxy Note 7 still remains in the memory of people.

    HTC ChaCha

    Mobile Phone

Despite its condition today, Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC was a popular company in the first five years of this decade. In the year 2011, the company announced ChaCha and Salsa in a collaboration with Facebook. Aside from being horribly named, these smartphones featured a dedicated Facebook button. And while the latter was not anything spectacular, the ChaCha got all the hate because of the awkward design with a keyboard and again, the Facebook button.

The HTC ChaCha ran Android 4.0 Jellybean and as mentioned above, featured a keyboard. Because of the not so pleasing name (It literally means uncle in Hindi!) and the useless interface, the ChaCha was a commercial and critical flop.

    Red Hydrogen One

    Mobile Phones

Red, the company behind some of the best cinematic quality available today, tried its hands at making a smartphone in 2018. Called the Red Hydrogen One, the device boasts of a few impressive specifications, including a 4D Holographic display, a sturdy and different design and the ability to attach future camera accessories to the handset. However, due to the eye watering price tag starting at about US$ 1300 for the base variant, the smartphone did not sell well. Add to the fact that the display did not work as advertised and the processor used was also from 2017, the Snapdragon 835.

The Red Hydrogen One is a classic example of a company trying to do something they have no experience in, and failing badly. Top 5 Free To Play Multiplayer Shooter Games For Low Spec PCs

Shooter games are one of the fundamental genres of the gaming industry. Popular titles like the Halo and Call Of Duty franchise are one of the founding pillars that led to its massive success. Unfortunately, the aforementioned titles and many more of the sort have gamers shell out a fair amount of money. Here is a list that’ll showcase amazing experiences to be had without ever spending any money.

    Shooter

Games such as Fortnite, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Team Fortress 2 will not be included. These games are already well known free to play shooters. The list will also focus on games capable of running on low-end PCs or even laptops.

    PUBG Lite

PUBG Corp. has just launched the latest instalment in its battle royale focused franchise. The original PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds had seen massive success which had even carried forward to its free PUBG Mobile version. The game is in beta stages with polishing still required but in all intents and purposes is a true PUBG experience. It features watered-down textures and effects to have a broader audience similar to its Mobile version. Its key elements include:

    • Realistic gun mechanism and physics
    • Minimal size and system requirements
    • Indian Servers for a lag-free experience
    • Better graphical fidelity over PUBG Mobile emulator

    Shooter

The game is slowly gaining traction in India and has a positive impact on the Indian gaming community and culture. It can be played from both first-person and third-person perspective. Similar to its previous iterations it will also feature every map that has been released so far. PUBG Lite is available on PC through its official website.

    Paladins: Champions Of The Realm

    Shooter

The year 2016 had seen the massive success of two genres, Battle Royale and Hero Shooter. Paladins from HiRez studio is a free to play first-person hero shooter with an emphasis on a team focused gameplay like Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch. The game is based in a fantasy world of magic and dragons. It is one of the top 20 most played games on Steam and has a healthy player base. Every character in the game is unique and has dedicated roles to perform in every game. If people wonder what makes it different from Overwatch that features arguably similar characters and game modes:

    • Free To Play
    • Unique Champions
    • In-depth card customisation and character modification options
    • Capable of running on low-end PCs

    Shooter

It is one of the more popular games on Steam and has game modes such as Team Deathmatch, Onslaught (Secure area) and Siege, where a team captures the objective and pushes it. However, Unlike the more popular Overwatch, Paladins does not have the same great graphical fidelity or mirror polish that accompanies a Blizzard Entertainment title. It is constantly updated with new characters, skins and limited-time game modes making it a must-try title. The game is available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo via Steam.

    Warframe

Does space sound enticing? Do Ninjas? Now, how about space fighting Ninjas. Warframe is a title that heavily marketed its space ninjas before its launch. It is a game based on the distant future where humanity has conquered the solar system and the biggest threats they now face are themselves with various ongoing faction and allegiance fighting over dominance. The game involves a hack and slash melee gameplay mixed with fluidic gunslinging action from a third-person perspective. The game currently holds one of the top 5 players based on Steam. Key gameplay elements include:

    • In-depth character customisation
    • Faction wars and Special Events
    • Fluidic Parkour movement across air, walls and ground.
    • Amazing Gunplay and Special attacks
    • Game is a looter shooter where the player can grind daily.

The game is developed by Digital Extreme game studio which is well renowned for its healthy relations with its gaming community. It is constantly updated and new features and cosmetics are always added. Warframe is available on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One And PC via Steam.

    Realm Royale

Realm Royale is a battle royale game with a unique twist in the formula. It is another game developed by HiRez Studios and adds its unique hero shooter formula to a larger map game mode. In the game 100 players drop in after preselecting their class which allows them to have special abilities or buffs in certain areas. This also includes the weapon choices that can be crafted in-game rather than constantly having to loot. The game, unlike most other battle royale titles, promotes engaging in fights rather than avoiding them to be the last man standing. Its key elements are:

    • Unique class systems
    • Class-based abilities, perks and weapons
    • You turn into a Chicken when downed and are auto revived after a minute
    • Players can summon a horse for traversing the large maps.

    Shooter

The game had initially taken off when it was first launched back in 2018 and had a numerous big streamers and people playing the game. Unfortunately, the game isn’t as popular as it used to be but still has a good amount of player base. The game is available on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PCs via Steam.

    Splitgate: Arena Warfare

Splitgate: Arena Warfare is a multiplayer first-person shooter that uses player-controlled portals to open a new gameplay mechanic in a first-person multiplayer shooter game. Ever had a pesky camper spawn camp? No problem shoot a portal behind him then gun him down via portals. The game places heavy emphasis on the old arena shooter like Unreal Tournament or Quake. Its unique elements are:

    • Players can make portals to open different angles of attack and movement.
    • Jetpack! To open aerial combat into the mix.
    • Simple but sound shooting and movement mechanics
    • Completely free and is extremely easy to get into.

The game was launched to a welcoming audience and has a healthy playerbase. It is capable of running in various low-end PCs as well with a little tinkering. Splitgate is currently available on Steam for Xbox One and PC.

  • Top 5 Netflix Shows To Stream This Weekend

Top 5 Netflix Shows To Stream This Weekend

With the weekend lining up, it’s time to make a list of the trending shows on Netflix so that you can binge them as per your taste. Where some people like dramas and romantic comedies, some people tend to stick to the “real” side of things and prefer documentaries in addition to non-fictional shows. We have compiled a list of shows that can be a part of your Netflix show squad.

    The Society

    https://youtu.be/UJzU-b5EU9c

One of Netflix’s more recently released shows, The Society has a very different plot than most other shows out there. The series focuses on a weird anomaly that befalls a group of high-school children when their school trip is cut short and they are brought back home to a completely empty town. The episodes cover the time span over which the students learn how to co-operate and co-exist in a town with no rules and no elders. The show has a heavily numbered cast, but a notable mention includes Kathryn Newton of Detective Pikachu fame.

    Black Mirror

    https://youtu.be/2bVik34nWws

First released in the year 2011, Black Mirror focuses on the scary yet highly probable implications of technology in the not-so-distant future. The series is created by Charlie Brooker, and it comprises of 4 seasons, with a 5th one on the way. The episodes are not numbered, so interested viewers can jump right into the series and get engaged. Noteworthy, the show may not appeal to all people, since some really extreme (and graphic references) can be found throughout the series. Nonetheless, Black Mirror has great instances of direction, and the best part is that the Season 5 of the same is releasing in the month of June on Netflix

    Stranger Things

    https://youtu.be/YEG3bmU_WaI

Stranger Things is a Netflix original drama which follows the American science-fiction horror genre. The show stars Golden-Globe winning actress Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers and is set in a small Indian town in the year 1983. When her son goes missing, she launches an investigation that leads to a frantic search for answers, surviving spooky supernatural forces and a quest that involves a creepy little girl. The show has a certain buzz around it, which tends to deeply engage everyone who watches the show. The season 3 of Stranger Things is currently churning out new episodes, so if you are a fan of adrenaline rushes, be sure to check this one out on Netflix

    Lucifer

First premiered in the month of January 2016, Lucifer is an American television series developed by Tom Kapinos. The show revolves around Tom Ellis, who plays Lucifer Morningstar in the series. The backstory? Lucifer is the literal embodiment of the Devil, who abandons Hell for Los Angeles and owns a nightclub while acting as a consultant to the LAPD at the same time. The fourth season of the show concluded in May 2019 with positive reviews, so this may be a really good time to pick up the show and grind through it.

    The Umbrella Academy

The Umbrella Academy is an American superhero web series developed by Jeremy Slater and Steve Blackman. It is based on a comic book series bearing the same name and has a very unique plot. Apparently, 43 infants are born to random women across the world. Out of those 43, six surviving children return as teenagers to uncover the mystery shrouding their father’s death.  The show has some impressive screenplay instances, and a grim undertone that maintains the atmosphere of the show nicely.

  • Google Is Reimbursing Pixel 1 Owners In The US, But What About India?

Google Is Reimbursing Pixel 1 Owners In The US, But What About India?

Since Google unveiled the first Pixel device back in the year 2016 , it has continued to improve the design and features of the smartphone. However, the company particularly focused on the camera which has outshined most other smartphone cameras in the market. Lately, however, incidents are inadvertently pointing towards the fact that Google might not be paying enough attention to its southeast Asian market. Is there a reason behind this, or is the organization just acting ignorant towards the obvious?

    Google Pixel XL
    Google Pixel XL

Earlier in May 2019, Pixel users around the world reported a variety of malfunctions with their devices. Further probing led to the discovery of the fact that Google had knowingly retailed Pixel smartphones that had faulty solder connections. Google admitted that some phones (less than 1 percent) exhibited an issue with calling and the Google assistant. The anomaly was traced back to a hairline crack on the audio codec’s solder point/connection.

    Android 9 Pie

As a conclusion to the aforementioned accusation, the company ended up paying US$ 7.25 million to settle a class-action lawsuit filed by “angry” Pixel users. Google settled the case, and as per reports, it owes Pixel Owners an amount of up to US$ 500 per device. Even if owners are not eligible for the complete reimbursement, some money is surely arriving their way. Except, the company is reimbursing solely US-based Pixel smartphone owners. No, India isn’t on the list. A screenshot sent to us by an anonymous Indian Pixel smartphone buyer clearly depicts the attitude of the company towards the consumer base.

A noteworthy point is that the American technology giant was also receiving reports from countries other than the United States, including India. However, Google has not released any statement regarding refunds for India-based Pixel smartphone owners or any other country for that matter. Is it because of a selfish motive, or is it just a part of the company’s plan to tackle this situation in the best way possible?

A major factor why Google is reimbursing US-based Pixel users can be the enforcement of consumer laws in the United States. The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) of the US puts forward laws that aim to curb unfair, deceptive and fraudulent business practices by collecting complaints and conducting investigations. It is highly probable that in order to avoid such a situation, Google may have decided to take the “refund” road. On the other hand, Consumer laws in India are not enforced as strictly as compared to selective other countries, which may be a probable reason for the same.

    Google Pixel
    Pixel 3 XL

Another point that can be taken into consideration is the number of Pixel devices being sold by Google in both the regions. Talking about US, Google Pixel is one of the fastest growing brands as of February 2019. Even though the company’s current Pixel 3 flagship lineup hasn’t really made a dent in the market, the company maintains a strong position in the United States.

    Google Pixel back

In contrast, Google has not really managed to retail a whole lot of Pixel devices in India. This may be because of the higher price point of Pixel smartphones in India as compared to the States. For instance, the Google Pixel 3a retails for US$ 399 in the US. Roughly converting the price to INR yields an amount of  INR 27,900, which is miles apart from the price it is being actually retailed in India i.e. INR 39,999. When a lot of consumers prefer smartphones from Chinese brands that offer more value-for-money, it is less likely that premium brands can make a greater impact in the market. For the same reason, it is possible that Google wants to hold its spot in the US Market.

In spite of all facts, figures and speculations, there might be a slight possibility that once an increased number of reports and conflicts start pouring in, Google might consider a similar way out of the “Pixel” situation in India. However, no official statement from the company has been received as of now, indicating that Google may act dry on this particular incident.

Google I/O 2019: What To Expect From The Event?

Google will host the Google I/O 2019 event from May 7-9 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View in California, USA. It is the company’s annual developers event where it showcases its software prowess to the world. While the schedule for the three-day event has been released, it is anyone’s guess what Google has in store for us. Here is what to expect from Google I/O 2019.

    Android Q

One of the highlights of the Google I/O 2019 is expected to be the next generation of Android, the Android Q. As two beta versions of the mobile operating systems have already been released, Google may announce the third beta on the first day of the event. Like it did last year, smartphones from more companies than before may be added to the list. While what devices will be added is not known yet, it is reported that handsets from Samsung, LG, Motorola and Huawei may be the lucky ones to get Android Q Beta 3.

Android Q is alleged to be a major change over its predecessor, Android Pie. The first two beta builds of the software insinuate it will bring over many highly anticipated features like dark mode, new navigation gestures and a new update delivery system. However, no major design overhaul is expected from the upcoming version of Android. It is also reported that Google will launch the final, stable build of the software for compatible smartphones starting the month of August later this year. Maybe then we will finally know which desert starts from the letter Q; Android Quiche maybe?

    Pixel 3a, 3a XL

    Google Pixel 3 XL

While Google is not known to launch any hardware at the Google I/O event, it is almost confirmed the company is all set to change the unwritten rule. Two new mid-range Google smartphones, allegedly called the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are expected to be announced on the first day of the event. These devices will be the watered down variants of the flagship Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL handsets respectively. The upcoming smartphones will be significantly affordable than their siblings which may make them more desirable.

    Google Pixel 3XL

Leaked details about the Pixel 3a, 3a XL direct towards a polycarbonate body instead of a glass and metal construction as seen in their siblings. Like the Pixel 3 XL, none of the smartphones will feature a notch in their displays. Surprisingly, the devices may also bring back the 3.5mm headphone jack, which was removed starting the Pixel 2 lineup. Other leaked specifications of the handsets include the Snapdragon 670 SoC, 4 GB RAM, 64GB Internal Storage and clean, a stock build of Android with guaranteed software updates for three years.

    Google Nest Hub
    Google Home
    Google Home, Home Mini

Google acquired the smart home company Nest in the year 2014. And since last year, it has started branding itself in the company’s products lineup. It is expected that with the Pixel 3a series, a new smart speaker with a display may also be announced. This device is allegedly called the Google Nest Hub and it will an upgrade to the Home Hub smart speaker announced last year. It may have an 8 inch or bigger display which will support touch input and will feature the Google Assistant. Unlike the Home Hub, the Nest Hub is expected to have a front facing camera which will help in video calls and facial recognition features.

    Google Stadia

    Google Stadia

Google bowled everyone over when it showcased Stadia, a cloud gaming service for every smart device available on the market. While the concept of the service was innovative and never seen before, no details were provided at the previous event. It is thus expected that the technology giant will finally elaborate on its take on the future of gaming. Google Stadia was announced to be ready by the end of this year, so the company might finally have some answers to the plethora of questions that the sceptical audiences have about the service.
