Amazon had launched its first FireTV last year, and is back with the launch of the second generation FireTV media receiver later, this year. The company intends to pit its new FireTV against the Apple TV that was unveiled at the event just two days ago.
The first FireTV was loaded with features and functions that were well received by critics. The device featured 2 GB of RAM, MIMO dual-band Wi-Fi, and a Bluetooth remote control with a microphone for voice search. It supported a 1080 resolution streaming with Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 surround sound all at a nominal price of $99.
