In a shift of strategies Blackberry has announced that they will be launching the BBM app on Android and iOS for free this summer. Available to users running iOS 6 and Android 4.0 ICS or higher, the free BBM app will bring the magic of BBm messaging to every handset.
On the outset, however, only the messaging and group features will be accessible for outside users, but by the end of the year, the company plans to bring about the coveted BBM voice, BBM channels, screen sharing and video capabilities.

The Samsung Galaxy M Pro was Samsung’s answer to a possible end of time for Blackberry, for those who were shifting over to Android anyway. Looks like sony finally changed the Xperia S to SL, the company has launched a similar device with dedicated ICS style buttons and a paster processor, overclocked perhaps. The Xperia SL is a slight refresh of the S, it has an additional duo of color choices (silver and pink), a faster dual-core 1.7 GHz Snapdragon S3 CPU and Android Ice Cream Sandwich (up from a 1.5Ghz processor and Gingerbread).

While Android fragmentation continues with Jelly Bean being announced just 6 months away from the ICS update. Android owners have started to shift to ICs with most companies now offering ICS updates for the devices.
While Gingerbread still remains at the top with 64 % of the Android base. GFroyo follows by 17.3 %, and Google’s recently announced Jelly Bean update was not included in this stat.

Huawei has come out with a 2600 mAh XL variant for their Ascend P1, dubbed Ascend P1 2600 mAh XL, which like the name suggests has a larger 2600 mAh battery. That’s almost a 56 % increase over the original version which is also the Razor Maxx.

Sony is really depending on its new strategy to kick off in China and other Asian Countries including India. They are at it again. Apple and Samsung are in legal hot waters yet again, only when things couldn’t get worse. Apple has called for early ban on Samsung’s new flagship device the Galaxy SIII. According to Apple the Galaxy S III violates at least two patents, one is the data tapping patent, the exact on in their suitagainst HTC and the other a unified search patent that covers Siri.

Looks like Google is planning to release a series of Nexus devices this year, including some tablets, on Google Android 5.0. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Google is planning to partner with a variety of OEMs (in order to have up to five Pure Google Nexus devices available at once. Samsung has been smart to include India in the list of countries getting the ICS update for their Galaxy Note smartphone. Owners received a surprise notification alert yesterday and were able to download the 318.89MB software update over wifi to enjoy the new Touchwiz on Android 4.0.3.
