  • Huawei P20 Pro To Have A 40MP Camera

Huawei P20 Pro To Have A 40MP Camera

Huawei all set to launch its trio of flagship smartphones in France on the 27th of March. However, the Huawei P20 Lite is already available in some countries. In our previous story, we covered a leak about the Huawei P20 Pro’s triple camera setup. And now, a new leak talks about the camera capabilities of the Huawei P20 Pro, that the smartphone will have a 40MP camera.

The Huawei P20 Pro has a 40MP primary sensor, which supports 5x hybrid zoom. Note that, hybrid zoom is obtained with the combination of optical zoom and digital zoom. There is a secondary 8MP sensor, which offers 3x optical zoom, which also helps to create portrait mode. Similarly, there is a third sensor with 20MP resolution. Unlike the other two sensors, this is a monochrome sensor which helps to capture contrast and sharpness.

    Huawei P20 Pro

The sensor comes with f/1.6 aperture and f/2.4 aperture with Leica branding. Huawei recently released a teaser video, which arguably talks about the slow-motion video capabilities of the device. Going by the video, the device is expected to support 1080p @120fps.

The device will have a 4000 mAh battery with 20watt fast charging capability. The device is IP67 certified, similar to the Apple iPhone X. The leak also confirms that the device will not support wireless charging.

    Huawei P20 Pro Specs

The smartphone is expected to have a 6.1 inch 2240 x 1080 px OLED display with a notch on the top. Under the hood, the smartphone will be powered by the Kirin 970 chipset with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. In fact, the smartphone is expected to support native face unlock algorithm similar to the iPhone X.

The device is also expected to offer a wide range of AI capabilities, which might improve the smartphone photography.

The smartphone is likely to house a triple lens primary camera setup with RGB + wide angle + telephoto lens combination. On to the front, the smartphone is likely to have dual camera setup. In fact, the dual front-facing camera can aid the facial recognition system as well. The device will run on Android Oreo 8.1 with custom EMUI on the top.

  • LG G7 To Have An LCD Display

LG G7 To Have An LCD Display

LG has postponed the launch of the LG G7 (tentatively named) to improvise the design of the smartphone. LG’s smartphone business has been dwindling for quite some time now and its flagship devices have not performed to their expectations. The company will now launch its flagship phones as and when it deems fit, instead of following a launch pattern.

The LG G7 was expected to be launched at MWC 2018. But, it was only showcased behind closed doors at the event. The LG G7 is expected to do what a lot of Android smartphones have done lately. It will follow the iPhone X path and have a notch at the top of the display. Now, a new report has claimed that the company will; revert to an IPS LCD display for the G7 instead of continuing with the p-OLED panel found on the LG V30.

Choosing an LCD display over an OLED might be an important move by the company in the grand scheme of things. But, the presence of a notch would mean that this decision might not get the importance it deserves. OLED panels look much better than LCD and only a 120Hz display will justify this decision. However, from the financial point of view, this choice makes sense as OLED displays cost three times the cost of an LCD display. The LG G6 came with an LCD display and the company switched to P-OLED display for the LV V30+. This means the company might reserve the OLED display for the V series smartphones.

    LG G7 Specs

The LG G7 is expected to have a 6 inch LCD display with a 2880 x 1440 px resolution. Until Corning comes up with Gorilla Glass 6, we expect most flagship smartphones to have the Gorilla Glass 5 on top.

    LG G7

Under the hood, the G7 will have the Snapdragon 845 chipset. One of the primary issues with the LG G6 was its older chipset. By no means was the Snapdragon 821 a bad chipset but, the Galaxy S8 with the Snapdragon 835 made the G6 look archaic. However, that won’t happen this time around as Samsung no longer has exclusive access to the new chipset.

Features like water resistance, wireless charging and fast charging are expected to be retained. The dual-camera setup on the back will be placed vertically, this time around. The implementation is expected to be the same as the G6 and V30. A regular lens coupled with a wide-angle lens. This is also something that has been appreciated by many LG users.

  • Apple iPhone SE 2 Might Have Wireless Charging

Apple iPhone SE 2 Might Have Wireless Charging

Apple launched the iPhone X, which showcases the best of Apple’s design and engineering. Though it is a great smartphone, the US$ 1,000 price tag makes it a tough buy. Many features of the iPhone X will trickle down to upcoming iPhones. While major iPhone launch will happen in September, rumours about the iPhone SE 2 don’t seem to fade away.

A new leaked back case of the iPhone SE 2 shows design similarities to the iPhone 8. This picture suggests that the iPhone SE 2 will have a glass panel with support for wireless charging. Similarly, the case has round cutouts for the volume buttons, which is distinctive of the iPhone SE design.

    iPhone SE 2

Apple introduced the iPhone SE after the launch of the iPhone 6S. The iPhone SE had hardware similar to the iPhone 6S in a compact shell with aggressive pricing. In fact, the iPhone SE is the cheapest iPhone ever (launch price).

Most of the leaks and rumours about the iPhone SE 2 are very conflicting. A report says that the iPhone SE 2 is expected to follow the iPhone X’s design cues while others have conceded that the device will retain the original iPhone SE design.

    iPhone SE 2
    iPhone SE 2 Concept

Considering the first scenario, if SE 2 comes with an iPhone X like the design, what will be the future of the iPhone 8, which might retail for a much higher price? In the second scenario, the company has to stick with Touch ID.

The certainty of the launch of an iPhone SE 2 is extremely slim. But, the constant leaks are enough to create an air of hope, especially with WWDC 2018 coming up soon.

  • Xiaomi Blackshark Specifications Leaked

    Xiaomi Blackshark Specifications Leaked

In one of our previous stories, we reported that Xiaomi could be working on a gaming smartphone under the “Blackshark” moniker. Now, a device codenamed BlackShark has been spotted on Geekbench.

This solidifies the argument that the company is indeed working on a gaming-specific smartphone. However, how viable is a gaming-centric smartphone in today’s day and age? Most flagship devices look and perform almost similarly. But, the one thing that should work in favour of the Blackshark is its pricing.

    Xiaomi BlackShark

According to the listing, the Xiaomi Blackshark will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with 8GB RAM. The device scored 2452 points on a single core and 8452 points on the multi-core performance. In fact, these scores are on par with other smartphones running on the Snapdragon 845.

The Razer Phone is the best example of a gaming smartphone. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset with 6GB RAM with a dual front-facing stereo speaker. One thing that differentiates the Razer Phone from the competition is its display. The device has an IPS LCD display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. But, since this is only available on an LCD display, the company had to choose that feature over a better quality which an OLED display provides.

    Conclusion

For a gaming smartphone to be a success, it needs to have the ability to tackle overheating. Interestingly, the Xiaomi Blackshark is expected to have a one of a kind aviation class cooling system. Apart from the cooling system, Xiaomi will have to introduce something worthwhile that will make this different from any other flagship smartphone.

If Xiaomi is planning to launch a gaming-centric smartphone, then the company has to make few sacrifices. Will Xiaomi choose the IPS LCD over OLED to offer a better refresh rate? Will the Blackshark come with dedicated stereo speakers with 16:9 aspect ratio?

  • Apple iPhone SE 2 With An iPhone X Style Display Leaks In Video

Apple iPhone SE 2 With An iPhone X Style Display Leaks In Video

After the launch of the iPhone X, there have been plenty of rumours about an iPhone X like iPhone SE 2. The original iPhone SE was launched back in 2016 and the company skipped an incremental update in 2017. However, many reports have claimed that Apple could launch the iPhone SE 2 at WWDC 2018. The reports have been conflicting, though, some claiming that the iPhone SE 2 will have hardware update and retain the design of the original iPhone SE. While some have claimed that it will have a design similar to the iPhone X.

You may also like: Apple iPhone SE 2: What To Expect?

A new video of a possibly fake iPhone SE 2 has surfaced online. The video showcases an iPhone X with a metal frame similar to the iPhone SE. While it might sound very interesting, it is highly unlikely that Apple would take this route. Especially considering that the iPhone SE 2 could be a much more affordable device than the iPhone X.

The size of the device in the video is also suspect. The iPhone SE was intended for people who wanted an iPhone with new hardware and the old small screen design. The leaked device has the same display as the iPhone X which potentially contradicts the reason behind the iPhone SE’s introduction.

Although it’s not the SE 2, the leaked video has given us a glimpse of what the iPhone X could look like with a metal frame instead of a steel one. It is possible that Apple will announce the iPhone SE 2 at WWDC 2018. Or, Apple could host a separate event for the iPhone SE 2. Apple is expected to launch a few upgrades for its MacBook lineup as well. Since WWDC usually focuses on software, its hardware products could be unveiled at an event after WWDC, or before it. However, there has been no confirmation from Apple so far.

  • Here Is The First Glimpse Of The Upcoming HTC U12+

Here Is The First Glimpse Of The Upcoming HTC U12+

Guessing the design of a flagship smartphone is getting easy by the day. A glass unibody design, dual camera, 18:9 display are the some of the factors, that make up a flagship smartphone. Similarly, MWC 2018 has shown that a notch is also now a viable “feature”.

Here is the first glimpse of the upcoming HTC U12+, which is expected to replace the HTC U11+. However, we are yet to receive the information about the unaccounted HTC U12. In fact, the company might skip the HTC U12 entirely and directly launch the U12+,  which is expected to go live in April or May.

The design of the HTC U12+ resembles most of the premium flagship smartphones of late 2017 and early 2018. The device has a glass front, glass back and a metal mid-frame, which is almost identical to the HTC U11+. However, after years of gap, the company is once again back to the dual camera business.

    Expected specifications of HTC U12+

The HTC U12+ will have a 6 inch display with a 2880 x 1440 px resolution. This means that the company will continue launching 18:9 smartphones, like the HTC U11+.

Under the hood, it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. The new flagship chipset is no longer Samsung-exclusive and is already present in smartphones from Asus and Sony as well. Coupled with this chipset will be up to 6GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. However, details about other variants have not been revealed. It will be IP68 rated for water and dust resistance, a staple for modern-day flagship phones.

    HTC U12+

Interestingly, the leak mentions HTC Face Unlock as well. Now, it is a known fact that Face Unlock is the new trend of the industry. However, it will be interesting to see how HTC implements this feature and how secure it’ll be. On the back of the smartphone will be a dual camera setup of a 12MP sensor coupled with a 16MP Sony IMX3xx sensor. No details about the nature of these sensors has been revealed so far.

The HTC U12 will run Android 8 Oreo out of the box with HTC Sense UI on top. Powering the device will be a 3420 mAh battery which will support QuickCharge 4.0. It will be interesting to see if the smartphone will support wireless charging.

    Huawei P20 Spotted on Geekbench

Huawei will launch its flagship P20 series of smartphones on the 27th of March in Frace. These Huawei P20 Pro, P20, and the P20 Lite will emphasis on AI and camera-centric features.

Leaks have already confirmed that the Huawei P20 Pro comes with a triple camera setup, which is not usually seen on most of the smartphones. Similarly, the P20 and the P20 Lite has a dual camera setup. However, unlike the P20 and the P20 Pro, the Lite variant misses out on Leica branding.

The Huawei P20 is now listed on Geekbench. The listing confirms that the smartphone is based on Kirin 970 Octa-core chipset. Similarly, the Huawei P20 Pro is also expected to be powered by the same processor with an additional amount of RAM.

The Huawei P20 is listed as HUAWEI EML-L29, which scores 1878 points on the single core and 6699 points on the multi-core performance. The listing also confirms that the device will have 4GB RAM and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo.

  • Xiaomi Teases Mi MIX 2s Camera Capabilities

Xiaomi Teases Mi MIX 2s Camera Capabilities

Xiaomi will launch the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s in China on the 27th of March. This will be the first flagship smartphone from the company in 2018. In fact, the company has already confirmed that it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with AI-powered dual camera setup.

The company has released a new teaser with clapping hands. The teaser suggests that the smartphone might feature fast autofocus. However, the company could also be talking about the slow-motion video recording, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S9.

A new leak about the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s has already confirmed that the smartphone will have a 12MP IMX363 sensor 1/2.55” size, 1.4µm pixels. In fact, this is the same sensor that has been used on the Asus ZenFone 5z.

    Mi MIX 2s

One thing that we are unsure about the device is the design. Initially, many renders showcased a completely bezel-less design with a corner notch, that houses front-facing camera. However, the recent renders are hinting towards a Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 like display with a bottom notch, that has a front-facing camera. The camera primary camera module is placed vertically on the back, which facsimile the camera design of the Apple iPhone X. In fact, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro also has a similar camera placement.

Expected specifications of Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s

The smartphone is expected to have a 6 inch 2160 x 1080p display with a notch at the top right corner. Under the hood, the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. However, the smartphone will not support memory expansion.

The phone will run on Android 8 Oreo OS with custom MIUI 9 skin on the top. However, none of the Xiaomi devices, barring the Mi A1, run on Android 8 Oreo as of now.

  • Moto G6, G6 Plus, G6 Play Could Soon Be Launched In India

Moto G6, G6 Plus, G6 Play Could Soon Be Launched In India

We often see flagship features trickle down to mid-range devices. In 2017, we saw flagship smartphones with 18:9 aspect ratio display. Similarly, the latter part of 2017 saw devices like the Honor 7X with an 18:9 aspect ratio. 2018 will see more budget smartphones with an 18:9 aspect ratio and the Moto G6 series will be no different.

These smartphones are expected to feature a premium glass design similar to the Moto X4 and are expected to be launched soon. In fact, the entire Moto G6 lineup has been certified by NBTC and TKDN in Thailand and Indonesia.

    Moto G6

The Moto G6 and the Moto E5 series is expected to be made official in Asian markets. Subsequently, India is one of the important markets for Moto and could be one of the first few markets to get the devices.

    Moto G6 Specifications

The device is most likely to have a 5.7-inch 2160 x 1080p IPS LCD display. Under the hood, the smartphone, as mentioned in the listing, will be powered by the Snapdragon 450 chipset with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.

The Moto G6, in all probability, will run Android 8 Oreo out of the box. However, considering the recent behaviour of other OEMs, it won’t be surprising to see the Moto G6 running Android 7 Nougat. The device is expected to feature a 3000 mAh battery with Turbocharging capability.

The device will have a dual 12 MP + 5 MP primary cameras with an 8 MP front-facing camera.

The device might run on Android 8 Oreo out of the box. However, instead of stock Android, the Moto G6 Play comes with Lenovo’s custom ZUK skin. However, that is hard to believe since Motorola has had success with its close to stock Android OS devices. Finally, the smartphone packs in a massive 4000 mAh battery with no mention of fast charging what so ever.

  • Nokia 9 Renders With In-Display Fingerprint Sensor Reveals An iPhone X-Like Notch

Nokia 9 Renders With In-Display Fingerprint Sensor Reveals An iPhone X-Like Notch

At the recently concluded Mobile World Congress (MWC 2018), HMD Global unveiled as many as five devices. While the Nokia 7 Plus and 8 Sirocco look like great devices and the Banana Phone is a nice throwback, the event lacked a true flagship unveiling. That is because the Nokia 8 Sirocco still runs on the Snapdragon 835. However, MWC 2018 saw the launch of a few Snapdragon 845 powered devices.

    Nokia Banana Phone

The Nokia 9 will be that flagship device could be announced by mid-2018. There were a lot of leaks and renders prior to MWC 2018 pertaining to the smartphone. However, none of that came to fruition. But, new concept renders of the Nokia 9 reveal a few exciting features. But, it also showcases something that seems to have a become a staple for Android smartphone makers.

    Nokia 9 Design

The smartphone is expected to have an all-glass design. The renders reveal a nearly bezel-less design with extremely thin bezels on either side. However, like a lot of MWC 2018 unveilings, the Nokia 9 also has a notch on the display. If this turns out to be accurate, the Nokia 9 will hardly be the first or the last one to copy the iPhone X.

Apart from that, the Nokia 9 is also expected to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. While this sounds like an exciting proposition, we might be a few months away from seeing this technology being implemented regularly. Even though Vivo managed to embed a fingerprint sensor in a consumer-ready device, it retails for a much higher price than it is supposed to. Embedding a fingerprint sensor in a display is a costly technology, something that HMD Global could avoid in order to keep the Nokia 9’s price down.

The smartphone is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset and could have up to 8GB of RAM. While many expected HMD Global to announce a Penta-lens concept phone, the Nokia 9 could just have a dual-camera setup.

  • LG G7, G7 Plus Could Be Launched In May 2018

LG G7, G7 Plus Could Be Launched In May 2018

The LG G7 was expected to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC 2018), similar to its predecessor. However, LG announced its plan to rework on its flagship smartphone strategy. The CEO of LG Mobile conceded that the company would now launch smartphones as and when it deems fit. While reports claimed that the LG G7 was completely rehashed a few days before Mobile World Congress 2018, it was showcased behind closed doors.

Leaked images of the LG G7 revealed a vertically placed dual-camera setup and an iPhone X like notch. While it is possible that this was just a prototype, more reports have solidified the counter-argument. A new report from in ETNews claims that the LG G7 and G7 Plus will be launched in May 2018. Also, the devices will be very similar to the images leaked at MWC 2018.

    Asus Zenfone 5Z

This means that the LG G7 and its Plus sibling will join an increasingly long list of iPhone copycats on the market. MWC 2018 saw a lot of smartphone makers take the Apple iPhone X route. But, without really justifying the need for a notch. However, LG is still one of the most renowned mobile manufacturers in the world and wouldn’t just put a notch on their device because it’s a “trend”.

The LG G7 and 7 Plus will also have the AI camera found on the LG V30S ThinQ. The devices will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset and feature a dual-camera setup on the back. If LG does go with a notch, the company could also introduce a proprietary Face Unlock feature as well.

    Conclusion

When the LG G7 and G7 Plus are launched, the devices will usher in a new strategy for LG. The company is also expected to push the launch of the LG G40 to later in the year instead of its traditional September launch. Whether the new strategy along with a drastic design shift will work in favour of LG or not is to be seen.

    OnePlus 6

It is also worth noting that the OnePlus 6 expected to be launched in June 2018. It will also have a notch and a new glass design at a price similar to the OnePlus 5T.

Similarly, a new leak has surfaced online, which showcases the official case renders of Huawei P20 Pro.

The leaked case renders comes in multiple colours including Black, Pink and Gold, and Blue. One thing that caught our attention is the View Cover. The View Cover looks like a specially designed Flip-case, which has a half transparent-front to display time, date and weather. In fact, this is similar to the always on display found on the Samsung Galaxy smartphones. The active display confirms that the smartphone will have an OLED display.

However, as this is a Lite edition, we expect the company to go with a Kirin 600 series chipset, instead of Kirin 970.

While the smartphone will be thin, it is expected to house a big battery that will support SuperCharge. The Huawei P20 Lite is expected to have a 16 MP + 2 MP primary camera setup and a 16 MP front-facing camera.

  • Huawei P20 Pro Leaked In “Twilight” Colour Variant

Huawei P20 Pro Leaked In “Twilight” Colour Variant

In the post-Galaxy S9 launch time, the Huawei launch event is highly anticipated. The company has already confirmed that the Huawei P20 series of will be unveiled on the 27th of March in France.

Usually, smartphone makers do not play much with the colour variants. In fact, most of the smartphones come in either Black, Grey, or Gold Colour. In 2015, Apple introduced the iPhone 6s in a new Rose Gold colour. While it took a while for people to war down to the colour, it soon became an industry trend, much like the iPhone X’s notch. Even now, after Apple dropped the Rose Gold colour, smartphone makers continue to launch devices in a Pink colour variant.

It looks like, Huawei is planning to set a new trend in the smartphone industry. A batch of leaked renders of the Huawei P20 Pro reveals an interesting colour choice by the company. The Huawei P20 Pro might come in a new “Twilight” colour shade, which has never been seen on any smartphone.

    Huawei P20

The colour choice is very bold by Huawei. In a world where smartphones are becoming increasingly similar, very few things separate them. Like the Galaxy S9 and its Lilac Purple variant, the new Twilight Huawei P20 Pro will definitely stand out from the crowd. Even the Huawei P20 will see an unusual colour variant. The leaked renders reveal a dual tone pink-and-gold colour which might seem like a botched photoshop job at first.

    Huawei P20 Lite

The P20 Lite, on the other hand, will be available in a colour variant very similar to what we saw with the Honor 9 Lite. It is shiny and very blue but, looks pretty great.

    Huawei P20 Pro Specifications:
