Chinese Man Spotted Using The Huawei Mate 30 Pro On A Subway Train

Over the last few years, Huawei has been a major contributor to the development of smartphones and its corresponding technologies. Due to its designation to the US entity list, Huawei had to face a major setback earlier this year. Nonetheless, it is advancing its thought of visionary smartphones at an unaffected pace.

The renders and features of upcoming Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro have been revealed at multiple instances (1,2). Freshly, a traveller on the Chinese subway train was spotted using a unique smartphone which is believed to be the high-end Mate 30 Pro.

The front of the alleged Mate 30 Pro has an edge-to-edge display that has extremely curved sides. Besides, the top of display features a wide notch that goes in line with previously leaked renders.

The rear of the smartphone is concealed with a plastic case that has a couple of cutouts and it covers the camera sensors. The rear left side of the plastic case has a narrow slit which makes room for an elongated flashlight.

This Is What The Upcoming Huawei Mate 30 Pro Looks Like

Huawei is highly anticipated to launch the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro which will succeed the Mate 20 lineup from 2018. In comparison to their predecessors, the upcoming device will be a significant step up both in terms of design and features.

Like the Mate 20 lineup, the Mate 30 Pro also has a rear glass panel which houses the company branding and the camera setup. The rear camera setup is housed in a circular module and it consists of four sensors in addition to a LED flash.

Overall, the Mate 30 Pro seems to have a visionary design which will be backed with powerful innards.

The source claims that the device will also support 25 W of wireless charging making it the fastest in the industry. It is believed to feature the HiSilicon Kirin 985 or Kirin 990 SoC (name not finalised) which will be manufactured by TSMC.

So riding high with the success of the P30 series launched back in the month of March, it is expected the company will follow up with the purported Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro in the following months. Leaks in the past have contributed to leaking the design of the smartphones and the features they will sport. Now, new reports reveal when the upcoming flagship handsets from Huawei will launch, along with information about their specifications.

Huawei Mate 30 Series

As mentioned previously, the Huawei Mate 30 series will be the new flagship smartphones by the company. According to the latest report from a Russian publication, the forthcoming devices may be introduced on the 19th of September this year. Along with the launch information, the report also revealed both the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will run on the latest Kirin 990 chipset from the company. This is supposed to be a 7nm SoC which is significantly powerful and efficient than the Kirin 980 powering the Mate 20 and P30 Series.

However, business is still in full swing with rumours and leaks regarding the upcoming Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro increasing in numbers. A fresh leak sheds some light on the camera of the highest DxOMark scoring smartphone ever.

Huawei was spotted applying for two trademark applications to the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office). The trademark carried the names Cine-Lens and Camera Matrix. It indicates that the Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro feature a cinema lens for high quality video recordings. The application for Huawei Cine-Lens carries a description for “cinema photography; optical lenses for recording, reproduction and processsing of sound, images and/or data; smartphones; camcorders; cameras.”

It is being speculated that both the trademarks are for Huawei’s Mate 30 and 30 Pro. Both smartphones are premium grade flagships and are expected to arrive in October. The application for Cine Lens is big deal considering Huawei has already introduced matrix camera in the Mate 20 series of 2018. Cine Lens seems to refer to camera lens which are specifically developed for high quality videography. Interestingly, actual cinema lens are rather expensive and a mobile version optimized for video recording will be quite innovative.

Leica is one of the manufacturers for such cine lenses and has frequently collaborated with Huawei. Chinese tech titan, Huawei will soon launch its latest flagship smartphone lineup which will carry the Mate 30 branding. Succeeding the Mate 20 Pro, the Mate 30 Pro will probably be unveiled in the month of October, 2019. Industry sources reveal that the Mate 30 Pro will feature a large BOE-manufactured 6.71 inch display with a 4-curve design. Huawei launched the Mate 20 series of smartphones in the second half of 2018. The Mate 20 series includes the Mate 20, Mate 20 X and the Mate 20 Pro. Out of the trio, the Mate 20 Pro is the flagship device with superior cameras. Although all three smartphones in the Mate 20 lineup have triple rear cameras, the Mate 20 Pro has higher resolution camera sensors. A leak suggests that its successor, the Mate 30 Pro will have a Penta rear camera setup.

Penta Camera Setup On The Upcoming P30 Pro

A German website, Mobielkopen spotted a Huawei patent on the Chinese NIPA’s (National Intellectual Property Administration) website. The NIPA authority is responsible for granting patents in China. Huawei was granted a patent on 1 January 2019 that reveals the case design of an upcoming smartphone. The shape and cutout from the patent are similar to that of the Mate 20 Pro except for a taller camera cutout. The case of the Mate 20 Pro with triple rear cameras has a square-shaped camera cutout. The case with taller camera cutout perhaps belongs to the Mate 30 Pro. The elongated camera cutout indicates that the Mate 30 Pro will indeed have five rear cameras.

The right side of the case has protruding ridges for the power button and the volume rockers. The bottom of the case cutouts for USB Type-C jack and a slit for the loudspeaker grille. The top of the case has holes for the 3.5 mm audio jack and the IR blaster. Side by side case comparison of the two device advises that the Mate 30 Pro will have a similar design as its predecessor.
