Apple yesterday announced a flurry of new products from the new iPad Air to the iPad Mini with Retina Display, brand new Mac Pro and a revamped Macbook Pro with retina display. Possibly the most subtle and less talked about are the software launches. Apple launched the new Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks and 7 new applications including a revamp of popular iMovie, iPhoto and Garage Band which made the iLife suite and work based Pages, Numbers and Keynote which made the iWork suite. The best part being the fact that all of the above comes free to Mac owners.

Apple has just announced that Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks will be available to all MAC owners running Snow Leopard or later as a free of cost upgrade. This release includes iBooks, Maps, a revamped Calendar and Air drop sharing with enabled devices on iOS 7. This is fantastic news for all those who stuck out the Mountain Lion update, as now most users will be able to jump directly to 10.9 free of cost. The update goes live later today in the US, for those on different time lines can expect it early tomorrow.

OS X Mavericks Available [...]
Apple is currently planning a late October launch for OS X Mavericks, according to a report from 9to5Mac.
The late-October Mavericks release is planned so Apple could focus the majority of its software engineering resources on pushing out iOS 7 alongside the new iPhone hardware over the next couple of weeks.
Apparently Apple has chosen this later-than-expected release date so it can use the bulk of its software engineering resources to first push out iOS 7, which is expected to become available next week, alongside two new iPhones.

Apple has updated the Mac OS X and the next version has been named after the California Mavericks.
With three things highlighted, changes: Finder Tabs, Tags and new changes to Multiple displays. With the new multiple displays you can independently run 3 different computers from the same machine.
With individual control spaces and Mission control on each display. The top menu and dock are also independent for each display and can be called on the live display.
