Adding one more successful device to its portfolio, the company is all set to launch the Redmi Note 7 on February 12. Xiaomi has been teasing the launch for quite some time, but we finally have some confirmation, according to a report by 91mobiles.

The Redmi Note 7 may not be the only product to be launched at the event, scheduled in New Delhi. According to reports, the Chinese smartphone maker may also launch the Mi Sports Shoes at the event. The shoes are speculated to be the rebranded version of the Mijia Sneakers 2.

    Redmi Note 7 Specifications

The Redmi Note 7 will be the next device in the Note series of devices. The devices are known for their value for money specifications and features. Redmi Note 7 has already been launched in China and features a 6.3 inches IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 px. It is available in 3 variants in China, 3GB RAM with 32GB Storage, 4GB of RAM with 64GB of Storage and 6GB RAM with 64GB of Storage. Redmi may bring either of these or all of the variants in India.

The phone’s highlight feature however, is the 48MP camera at the back. The sensor is a Samsung ISOCELL one made to capture more detail and better low light shots. The 48MP camera is accompanied by a 5MP depth sensor and a 13MP front camera. The phone is powered by a 4000mAh battery with support for QuickCharge 4. It also has a reversible, Type-C connector which is a first for Redmi series.

  • Redmi Go: Everything We Know

    Redmi Go: Everything We Know

Xiaomi has never seen better days in the country. The brand sales and reputation have never been better. And Xiaomi, in its traditional fashion is still doing what they do best, launching budget phones at never seen before prices. Now it seems like Xiaomi is all set to enter the sub Rs 5,000 market with the Redmi Go. This is what we know about the Redmi Go.

    Design

The Redmi Go will be an ultra-budget smartphone, so its not a surprise to see it come with huge bezels and a plastic body. The phone is very basic and minimalistic appearance. The phone will sport a single camera at the back. From the looks of it, the device looks a lot like the Redmi 5A.

    Display

The Redmi Go will have a 5-inch LCD display with a 1,280 x 720 resolution and a 16:9 ratio. This is neither modern or futuristic but being a budget phone, The Redmi Go will have a decent display for the price and the 16:9 aspect ratio is still relevant and reliable.

    Processor

The Redmi Go will come with a Snapdragon 425 SoC coupled with an Adreno 308 GPU. The Snapdragon 425 is a Quad-Core processor and a quite dated one. The SoC has 4 x Cortex A53 Cores clocked at 1.4GHz. The performance of the device should be fine for normal and light workloads.

    Memory and Storage

The Redmi Go is an ultra-budget smartphone, so it should be no surprise that it comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of Internal Storage. The phone will support MicroSD expansion up to 128GB. The phone wouldn’t be a powerhouse or a media machine obviously, but it should be good for normal, day-to-day tasks.

    Camera

The Redmi Go won’t be a camera centric smartphone, but it is expected to have a serviceable camera. The specs known so far are an 8MP f/2.0 sensor at the back with a 5MP f/2.2 sensor over at the front. The phone would be good for basic things like clicking pictures and video calling.

    Battery and Operating System

The Redmi Go will have a 3000mAh battery with support for 5W charging. The phone will not support fast charging because of the price it will be available at. The Phone will ship with the Go edition of Android Oreo.

    Connectivity and Other Features

The Redmi Go comes with a dual sim feature with 4G available on both. The phone will have Bluetooth 4.1 and a MicroUSB port for charging and data transfer. The phone doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor so it may rely on some form of face unlock.

Overall, the Redmi Go looks like a basic cheap smartphone by Xiaomi and would definitely sell well if priced reasonably within the sub Rs. 5,000 bracket and available without a barrage of flash sales. Xiaomi has tasted quite the success in the country and the Redmi Go seems to be just another success story.

  • Redmi Go Launch ; All You Need To Know

Redmi Go Launch ; All You Need To Know

As we were just getting over the ‘Xiaomi-Redmi’ breakup, the Chinese electronics giant flashes a teaser for an upcoming device. Not the Note 7, but in fact, the Redmi Go. We are just as surprised as you are, because it seems to be their first big release since they turned independent. And on top of that, the Philippines seems to be the first exclusive country to welcome Redmi Go into its market. And that is saying something since Android Go hasn’t been released anywhere yet. Let that sink in.

Teasing their customers with the hashtag #GoSmartDoMore, the device is supposed to be an improved version of the Redmi 5A. The Redmi Go aims to be a budget Android device with specs that can easily handle your day-to-day tasks. As per an online e-commerce store in the Philippines, the device has been listed with the similar hashtag, but without any pricing available on the same. The specs, thankfully, are present on the same.

    Redmi Go Specifications

The smartphone sports a 5-inch display with a 720p resolution. With a Snapdragon 425 chip and 1 gigabyte of RAM, it also has 8 gigs of internal storage. An expandable memory slot up to 128 GB just adds icing to the cake. Talking about those pictures, it has an 8 MP camera with an LED flash, with a 5 MP front-facing camera. With a 3000 mAh battery, it should just be enough to handle a full day of your usage.

If you’re concerned about connectivity, there’s more on that table too, because the smartphone has Bluetooth 4.1 support, and most importantly, dual SIM card slots. 4G LTE is supported, so high internet speeds shouldn’t be an issue. As far as the OS goes, the the device is launching with the Go Edition of Android 8.1 Oreo, not Android 9 as you may think.

    Redmi Go Colours and Launch

The Redmi Go will be available in two colors, black and blue. As discerned from the teaser’s image, it’ll have larger bezels than the Redmi Note 7. As of now, no definite launch date is available. Hopefully, there will be one soon. How hyped are you for the Redmi Go launch in India? Let us know in the comments below!

Redmi Note 7 Survives After Being Used As Skates And Thrown Down From Stairs

Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Redmi launched the Redmi Note 7 smartphone earlier this month in China. Due to its aggressive pricing the phone is attracting a lot of attention. A picture posted on weibo revealed a hidden feature of the Redmi Note 7. Two fresh videos shared by the company on a Chinese social media platform testify that the smartphone is not only loaded with features but it is also very durable.

Redmi Note 7 Thrown Around and Used As Skates

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2CJyLHC3Xs

In the first video, a user attaches castor wheels to the rear of the Redmi Note 7 with the help of high strength tape and then rides the makeshift skates. Surprisingly, the device not only survives this abuse, its display seems to work perfectly fine that too without any noticeable scratches.

The second video again torments the Redmi Note 7 but in a completely different manner. A unit of the Redmi Note 7  is placed in a bin which is sealed from top and then rolled down the staircase. This video is an ideal demonstration of how a smartphone would get through in an accidental staircase drop. Like the first video, the Redmi Note 7 mainly stays unharmed without any noticeable damage.

Although an actual device would seldom face such an abuse, the videos certainly reflect the build quality and durability of the Redmi Note 7.

Redmi Note 7 Pro May Have Snapdragon 675, Price Leaked

Redmi, since becoming a separate brand from it’s parent company Xiaomi has been working towards building a strong portfolio of phones. The Redmi Note 7 recently sold out in a matter of minutes in China and now it seems like new rumours have surfaced regarding the Note 7 Pro. Xiaomi had announced at the Redmi Note 7 launch that the Redmi Note 7 Pro will debut next month.

The Note 7 Pro will reportedly feature a Snapdragon 675 SoC, as reported by a tipster on a popular Chinese social networking website. Like the Note 7, the new Note 7 Pro will also feature a 48-megapixel primary sensor at the back but instead of the Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor, it will use Sony’s IMX586 primary sensor.

    Redmi Note 7 Specifications

The Redmi Note 7 was launched with a Snapdragon 660 chipset along with an Adreno 512 GPU. The phone’s screen is a 6.3 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with Gorilla Glass 5 for extra protection. The Redmi Note 7 came in two variants. This includes a 64 GB storage, 4 or 6 GB RAM variant as well as a 32 GB storage 3 GB RAM variant. We can expect the Redmi Note 7 Pro to pack atleast 6 GB RAM and 256 GB of space.

Apart from that we can also expect a micro SD card support like the Redmi note 7. Qualcomm had launched the 674 SoC last year and it has support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+ technology. Whether or not the company decides to have wireless charging enabled on the phone we will have to wait and see.

The phone launch is scheduled for sometime around the Chinese New Year next month and according to another tipster, it might cost CNY 1499.

  • Redmi Note 7 Has A Hidden Feature That The Company Is Not Even Promoting

Redmi Note 7 Has A Hidden Feature That The Company Is Not Even Promoting

Xiaomi has turned Redmi, its most popular lineup, into sub-brand. On 10 January 2019, Redmi launched its first smartphone called the Redmi Note 7. It is a successor to the highly popular Redmi Note 6 Pro. Albeit Xiaomi devices are made with budget focused consumers in mind, the devices have praiseworthy build quality. Same is the case with the Note 7 Pro, even though it is aggressively priced, the smartphone has a laudable feature that the company is not even promoting. A teardown of the device suggests that the device is well worthy of waterproof certification.

    Watertight Seals and Membranes

An up-close image of the innards of the newly launched Redmi Note 7 was shared on Chinese social media site, Weibo which reveals intriguing findings. The images of the dis-assembled smartphone exhibit that it has rubber seals around several components that indeed make it watertight. Blue and Violet colored seals can be easily spotted around the camera modules. 3.5 mm audio jack and even the hybrid SIM card slot. In addition to the watertight seals, the loudspeaker is also protected with a watertight membrane.

Although, it is unclear why is Redmi not boasting about this noteworthy feature on the Redmi Note 7. It is possible that to keep the prices down, Redmi did not opt for any waterproof certification on the device. All in all, it is a great feature that other smartphone manufacturers must definitely take a note of.

  • Redmi Note 6 Pro Vs Redmi Note 5 Pro: What’s Changed?

Redmi Note 6 Pro Vs Redmi Note 5 Pro: What’s Changed?

The Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched earlier this year. It was a big hit among Indian consumers due to its value for money pricing. Xiaomi is now all set to launch the Redmi Note 6 Pro in the country on 22nd November. The specifications of the Redmi Note 6 Pro are quite similar to its predecessor. But, even with similar specifications, Xiaomi claims that it is a major step forward from the previous smartphone.

    What’s The Same

Before we start talking about what is different, here are the similarities. The Redmi Note 6 Pro has the same 4,000 mAh battery as its predecessor. Even though the company has tweaked the performance of the new device with MIUI 10, it still runs on the same Snapdragon 636 chipset from the previous generation. Having the same chipset means that both devices have the Adreno 509 GPU.

The company might have bumped up the display size from 5.99-inch to 6.26-inch but the screen resolution and type still remains the same. The new phone still ships with a hybrid SIM tray while the competition like Realme 2 Pro has a dedicated slot for the second SIM. Even memory and storage options stay the same while other contenders in this price range offer up to 8 GB of RAM + 128 GB of ROM.

    Specifications
    Rear Camera 12 MP PDAF

    5 MP Depth Sensor

    Dual LED Flash

    Battery Capacity 4,000 mAh
    Chipset Snapdragon 636

    Octa-Core

    GPU Adreno 509
    Display Resolution 2160 x 1080 px
    Finger Print Sensor Rear-Mounted
    Display Type LCD
SIM Slot Type Hybrid Dual SIM
    RAM & ROM 4 GB + 64 GB

    6 GB + 64 GB

    What’s Changed

    Improved Camera Optics

As one cannot judge a book by its cover, the same is the case with camera performance on this smartphone. The Note 6 Pro has a similar camera setup with one 12 MP sensor and one 5 MP sensor. But, the company claims better real-world output from them. The sensor on the new phone features a larger f/1.9 aperture instead of the f/2.2 which was present on the previous model. The larger aperture we hope, allows it to absorb more light, therefore resulting in better lit pictures.

Additionally, the camera of the new smartphone has a 1.4 micron size pixel that will help in capturing better detail. The device also has AI scene detection capabilities that enable it to automatically choose the best scene from 32 different available options.

The Redmi Note 6 Pro has dual front-facing cameras with AI portrait mode and 12 scene detection modes. The front camera setup has a 20 MP primary sensor and a 2 MP secondary sensor for the depth effect. Xiaomi states that the 20 MP sensor is integrated with Super Pixel Technology which when combined with the 2 MP depth sensor produces results equivalent to a 1.8 micron size pixel sensor.

New Design & Corrosion Resistant Ports

The new Note 6 Pro now has a wide notch on the front. With an arc design on the back and a brushed metallic finish. The design not only looks good but, it also improves the grip of the device in the user’s hand.

With the Note 5 Pro, some consumers in coastal regions were left disgruntled. The 3.5 mm jack and charging port on their phone would corrode easily. The company noticed that it was an issue that was mostly faced by people living in coastal regions. Upon investigation, the company found humidity along with salt to be the reason behind the issue. To overcome the problem, Xiaomi now uses a corrosion resistant metal alloy to manufacture the ports for their devices.

    P2i Coating

Xiaomi coats the innards of its Note 6 Pro with a P2i hydrophobic nano coating which makes it resistant to light splashes of liquid. However, It does not make the smartphone waterproof. But, the coating will allow the handset to easily survive those accidental liquid spills.

    Bigger, Brighter Screen

The Note 6 Pro packs in a larger 6.26-inch display compared to a 5.99-inch on its predecessor. Xiaomi has managed to pack a larger display into the phone while retaining the footprint of its predecessor. Furthermore, the display panel on the new phone can reach up to 500 nits  of peak brightness. These high brightness levels allow for easy screen viewability even in harsh sunlight.

    MIUI 10

The Note 6 Pro runs MIUI 10 out of the box which Xiaomi claims is highly optimised. According to the company, MIUI 10 significantly bumps up performance on the new device while still featuring the same Snapdragon 636 processor. The new MIUI 10 also has inbuilt support for gestures which makes navigation across the device’s menus a total breeze.

  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro Unboxing And First Look

Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro Unboxing And First Look

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro is the long awaited successor  to the extremely popular Redmi Note 5 Pro. The Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched in February this year, and the company has already rolled out the next iteration of the device. Being from the Redmi Note series, it retains the same values as its predecessor. These include a large display, a big battery and great camera performance. While the device was launched in Thailand almost a month back, it did take some time to come to India. The official launch of the device will be held on 22nd November in an event in New Delhi, where the price and availability of the device will be announced.

The Redmi Note 6 Pro: What’s New

In terms of looks, the Redmi Note 6 Pro does look a lot like its predecessor. It has a big notch on its display, and a dual camera setup on the back, with a fingerprint scanner. There are however, many differences when you look closer. In terms of ergonomics, it has more rounded edged all around its body, giving it a better grip and feel in your hand. The Note 6 Pro has a bigger, 6.26 inch display, as compared to the 5.99 inch display from the Note 5 Pro. The FHD+ display has a 2280 x 1080 px resolution and a brightness of 500 nit.

The display also features Corning Gorilla Glass for protection, though the company has not specified the version. The notch on the Redmi Note 6 Pro is large when compared to other devices as it houses two cameras. But the bezels and the chin on the device are thinner than that on its predecessor.

Xiaomi has also made considerable improvements in terms of build quality. The ports now use a new alloy, which do not corrode that easily. This move came in after the company received a lot of issues with phones dying out early in coastal areas. Xiaomi later found out that the cause for this was the corrosion of the elements in the ports. Hopefully, this step will ensure a better longevity for the device. Another great addition is a P21 coating. This is basically a water repellant coating. This coating is present on the externals as well as the internals of the phone as well. However, this is not to be confused with water resistance and this is just meant to save your phone from minor, accidental spillage or water contact.

    What’s More

Another big jump is in the camera department. While on paper, the specs for the camera remain the same, the Redmi Note 6 Pro brings along both hardware and software improvements. The 12 MP main sensor on the back now has a larger, 1.4 micron pixel size, resulting in better photo quality and improvements in low-light performance. It also features a wider, f/1.9 aperture. The secondary sensor is a 5 MP depth sensor. Additionally, the Note 6 Pro has an impressive portrait mode. The portrait mode now features studio lighting options and also a ‘light flare’ feature.

It also has AI scene detection which detects 32 scenes, including scenes optimised for India such as weddings and motorbikes. The rear camera also features a new AI adjustable bokeh feature. This lets you choose the amount of blur you want in the background, even after you have clicked the picture. The front camera us a 20 MP + 2 MP set up. This features an AI portrait mode with AI scene detection of upto 12 scenes. The dual front cameras also help in the Face Unlock technology to unlock your phone.

    Inside The Phone

The phone runs MIUI 10 out of the box, which brings in advanced gesture navigation. It packs a 4,000 mAh battery which supports Quick Charge 3.0. While the Note 6 Pro supports fast charging, the company does not provide a fast charger in the box, and it has to be purchased separately. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC and has 4 GB and 6 GB RAM options. In terms of storage, it has one option with 64 GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 256 GB via  a microSD card.

The phone also features an auto data switch feature. When you are on a call, the phone switches your data from that SIM to your secondary SIM, so that neither of the operations are interrupted. The phone has dual VoLTE support but does not have a dedicated microSD card slot. It also has a new Wi-F- pass through feature. Using this feature, you can connect to a Wi-Fi network and use that Wi-Fi network to create a hotspot.

At first look, the phone does seem like a big and thoughtful improvement. We are yet to check it out fully and see what it is capable of. As mentioned before, the price and availability of the phone will be revealed only after its launch on 22nd November.

  • Smartphones To Scooters; Xiaomi’s Ever Expanding Portfolio

Smartphones To Scooters; Xiaomi’s Ever Expanding Portfolio

The Xiaomi Corporation was founded 8 years ago in China, by Lei Jun and seven other partners. In 2011, Xiaomi officially launched the Xiaomi Mi 1 smartphone with MIUI firmware based on Android. In 2012, the company launched their second smartphone, Xiaomi Mi 2 which the company claims sold over 10 million units within 11 months of its launch. The company since then has seen tremendous growth and in the last year crossed the 17 billion USD sales mark.

    Expansion Outside China

Xiaomi announced their expansion outside China in 2014 and that is when the company launched their first smartphone in India. The smartphone was called the Mi 3 which due to its impressive specs and low price tag raked in a lot of sales for the company. The Mi 3 had the Quad-Core Snapdragon 800 SoC at almost half the price of the Google Nexus 5 and Galaxy s4 which had the same chipset. This smartphone changed the perspective people had about Chinese handsets. From being cheap and low quality to low-cost high-value products in the eyes of the consumers.

2013-2014 was the period when India was seeing its massive e-commerce transition. It allowed Xiaomi to scale quickly and not wait to open physical brick and mortar stores. Since then, Xiaomi has continuously launched smartphones with latest specs at comparatively low prices. Some of the devices include the Redmi and Redmi Note series smartphones.

At the same time, Xiaomi was performing well in other countries like Singapore and Brazil. Back in 2017, the company expanded into Pakistan and Bangladesh. Up until now, the company has been launching smartphones in Tier 2 countries but, according to the latest announcements it company is now moving into Tier 1 countries.

    Tier 1 Expansion

    Xiaomi Mi A1

Last year Xiaomi spread their presence to Spain and France with the Mi A1 & Mi Mix 2 smartphones. Recently, the company has announced that they will officially make their way into the United Kingdom and Ireland. The Ireland launch is set to November 1 while the UK launch is set to November 8. The company will also open a physical MI experience store in White City, London after the launch. The company has partnered with Three UK to sell devices in both UK and Ireland. Three is a major telecom company in both the countries and will help with the propagation of products.

Xiaomi apparently plans to be one of the biggest smartphones company hence, they are continuously expanding into new regions and markets.

    Smartphone’s The Limit?

    Mi Band 3

The company is not only limited to smartphones, but they also offer a plethora of products ranging from security devices to fitness products and even Mi Televisions & other consumer appliances.

Xioami is truly an unconventional company with unconventional strategies. The company keeps on acquiring start-ups and other unique companies to incorporate their products and technologies into their own offerings.

The more products you surf for on the Mi Global website, the crazier it gets. The company makes mobility vehicles like electric scooters, mijia shoes, and has even started selling smartly designed luggage trollies.

In other words, Xiaomi is not a company focused only on electronics. Whenever this ambitious company finds a product that can be improved or a problem that needs to be solved, they will rapidly develop solutions and products according to it. We can say this is just the start of a young, aspiring company and only time will tell what the future of the company holds.

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro

This image posted on Reddit, gives us a brief glimpse at the specifications the device has. The Redmi Note 6 Pro will have a 6.2 inch display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The device has the same 4000 mAh battery as the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Another feature is the dual camera setup both in the front and the back. The front features a 20 MP + 2 MP dual selfie camera. Redmi Note 5 Pro Vs Redmi Note 6 Pro:

If the leaked image is to be believed, we can make a few comparisons between the two devices. The Redmi Note 6 Pro features a larger 6.2 inch screen over the Note 5 Pro’s 5.9 inch display. It is also expected that the device will have a FHD+ display with a 19:9 ratio.

Despite the fact that the camera setup in both the devices is quite similar, we can expect significant improvements. The sensor in the Redmi Note 6 Pro has a larger 1.4um pixel along with Dual Pixel AF. A bigger jump in terms of the front camera is evident. The Redmi Note 6 Pro has a dual front camera setup. This will enhance the portrait shots taken by the device.

Along with this, the device is expected to carry all other regular features seen in Redmi devices such as AI Portrait Mode, AI Scene Detection, AI beautify mode. It is expected to have Face Unlock support too. Rumours also suggest that the device will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset and have Android 8.1 Oreo and MIUI 10 out of the box.

    Launch:

The device is expected to be launched soon as it has already started appearing on certification websites. Having launched the Redmi Note 5 in India before China, it won’t be surprising if Xiaomi does the same this time around. The price and other details will be known closer to the launch. However, it it still a bargain as to how many Note 5 users will be willing to upgrade to the Note 6 this soon.
