Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi 5 in India for a starting price of Rs 7,999. The device comes with a metal unibody design with an 18:9 aspect ratio display. In fact, this is the cheapest Redmi smartphone to feature 18:9 aspect ratio display. And can be deemed as a downscaled version of the recently launched Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.

At the time of launch, the device was compared to smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy J7 Nxt and Moto G5s.
