Still holding on to that Streak from the past? Dell has issued a Gingerbread update to most of the streak division and should be hitting up Indian update servers shortly. It has been more than a year since Gingerbread was announced, and we don’t know if Ice Cream Sandwich is supported on this device, or will ever come officially. Although most Streak users, including our very own one was ported to a custom rom a long time ago. Those who still enjoy their device on 2.2 can update it to official 2.3.
You can also download the Rom (use 350 Recovery to install it) from this LINK
Dell has announced that it will discontinue all focus and manufacture of Mini series and other Netbooks, their reason for doing this is the investment of the same effort in up ramping of Ultrabooks that seem to be the new rage in the Industry. Samsung had announced similar plans earlier last month, shifting their focus to Ultrabook. Dell has already discontinued the Streak tablets, now they have retired the netbooks. The netbooks appear to be missing from the Dell India site swell so it looks like a global deployment.
Apparently business/enterprise clients can still get the Mini for large scale orders.
Dell has stopped selling the Streak 5 in the western hemisphere. iGyaan recommends end of cycle for India too. In a similar strategy it is expected that the Streak 5 will become cheaper in India.
Do not buy the Dell Streak 5, unless you get an absolutely irresistible offer.
The company now hosts a web page that declares its spacious smartphone / compact tablet has met end-of-life status, and it’s offering little information other than the ominous phrase, “Streak 5 is no longer available.”
The Dell Streak never really gained popularity in India, but its successors might catch on if the timing is right. The new Dell Streak Pro 10 / 10 Pro has been launched globally with a unveiling in China yesterday. The device has interesting specs and a really good price, it is also backed by Dell’s reliable service in India.

Well Folks, this means that the Streak 7 could be priced around 20-22K INR! That would definitely be a brilliant price for this tablet.
