The USB Implementers Forum has confirmed at CES that tablets and smartphones will begin to get MicroUSB 3.0 ports end of 2012 and all throughout 2013. The port has raw speeds unto 5Gbps but portable devices will see maximum connectivity of 800 Megabits /sec. In an interesting FCC filing, The Seagate GoFlex Satellite was Revealed. The Portable harddisk allows you to stream media and content directly from the drive without the need of wires. The network attached storage will also feature an iOS app which will enable users with an iOS device to stream directly to their handheld devices. The hard drive has 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and a 3.7V battery within its body. It will also feature a USB 3.0 port which will charge and allow the device to be docked the old fashioned way – with wires.

A leaked copy of Windows 8 spread like wildfire in the recent week. Daily new tidbits and features are being discovered about the new mammoth from Microsoft. The newest information rocking the market is the fact that the user with a retail disk can make actual usb copies of the operating system and carry them, like portable ubuntu.
This could also give piracy a whole new push with cds becoming the old and portable os becoming the new. Bootable Windows 8 on a USB 3.0 drive anyone? As tempting as it may sound, a minimum 16GB pendrive is required for the task and looks like USB 3.0 is yet to be found commercially.
