Rumor : Apple to announce iPhone 5, iPad mini at September 12 event

The iPhone 5, iPad mini and perhaps two other Apple devices could be announced at a Sept. 12 event, according to a new report.

Long rumored to premiere in October, the sixth-generation iPhone is now reportedly expected to be announced in September, including a new report Monday by iMore.

The report says Apple will announce the new phone and the iPad mini, a 7-inch screen version of the iPad, six weeks from now, citing “sources who have proven accurate in the past.”

Though the report is unsure about the iPad mini’s actual launch date, it gives a specific launch date for the iPhone 5: Sept. 21, which is a date that’s been rumored before.

Along with the two iOS devices, iMore also reports Apple will use the event to launch a new iPod nano.

Along with the nano, iMore speculates that a new iPod Touch could also be announced. Recent reports have said the Touch could be in for a fairly substantial redesign as is expected for the new iPhone.

The next iPhone is expected to have a better and longer screen, at 4 inches, as well as other redesigns, including a new back plate and a smaller dock connector.

Aircel offers Apple iPhone 3GS at Rs 9,999

  • Apple has already reportedly ordered 65 Million iPad 3 264ppi displays

Apple has already reportedly ordered 65 Million iPad 3 264ppi displays

According to ChinaTimes Apple has already ordered over 65 million displays for its next generation of iPad. The upcoming iPad 3 ( name rumored ) is supposedly said to carry a higher resolution 2,048 by 1, 536-pixel Retina display. The over-all design of the tablet is expected to remain the same, but the big new feature here will obviously be the new Retina display. LG and Samsung have been rumored to be manufacturing the display.

To take into consideration Apple had ordered only 40 Million iPad 2 displays prior to launch, thats a whopping 66.6% increase.  Also to take into consideration that iPad 2 and the original iPad are the most popular and the number one tablet sold, in sheer numbers. Apple sold over 15 million iPad 2 units in the holiday quarter alone.

If the specs claimed for the iPad 3 are even halfway there the expect the competition to fizzle down for the tablet from cupertino. The only other hope will lie with the rumored Galaxy Tab 3 and Android ICS, but not to anyway scratch the surface of iPad’s loyalty.

  • iPhone 3GS remains in the most sold device in India in the 20,000 Price bracket?

iPhone 3GS remains in the most sold device in India in the 20,000 Price bracket?

Despite several phones available in the market in the 20000 price bracket, Vodafone has confirmed that the Apple iPhone remains the most activated device in the past 3 months. This is highly surprising in a country where people have been up talking Blackberries and Android devices, so difficult to believe that we got Rajiv Thakkar, Senior Exec on Vodafone’s panel to talk to us about this .

” In the last three month we have had more activations of the iPhones than any other device in that price segment, with the iPhone 3GS topping in the 20,000 price mark. We have also activated the maximum number of iPhone Data plans, in the last 6 months, since the launch of the iPhone in India.”

    – Rajiv Thakkar

Nowwhether  or not this information  is true or a marketing move from Apple, it seems that people still prefer iPhones to other devices. What do you think?
