    Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei launched the P30 in the month of March 2019. The device was unveiled alongside its elder sibling, the P30 Pro, which featured one-of-a-kind periscopic camera setup. However, it seems that the Huawei P30 may receive an upgrade in the not-so-distant future. A beefed-up version of the smartphone with 12GB of RAM has showed up on TENAA, and features the model name ELE-AL00m.

    Previously, the Huawei P30 was available in two RAM variants, 6GB and 8GB. Except the RAM bump-up in the TENAA listing, no other upgrades to specifications were spotted. The P30 is the less feature rich variant of the high-end P30 Pro. It features a similar design to the Huawei P20 launched in the year 2018. The device has a 6.1 inch OLED display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 px. For security, the smartphone has an in-display fingerprint scanner with support for face recognition.

    The Huawei P30 runs on the 7nm Kirin 980 chipset. It consists of an Octa-core Cortex CPU and a Mali G76 GPU. In terms of optics, the smartphone has a triple rear camera module comprising of a 40MP primary sensor (f/1.8 aperture), a 16MP ultra-wide sensor (f/2.2 aperture) and a third 8MP telephoto sensor (f/2.4 aperture). For selfies, there is a 32MP front camera housed in the notch up front.

    The smartphone is powered by a 3650mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging support via the bottom mounted USB Type-C port. The smartphone also supports NanoMemory cards, a new memory standard the company introduced in 2018. The device is IP68 Dust and Water resistant. Currently, it is available in a 128GB ROM variant. After the aforementioned RAM upgrade, the device will be available in three different RAM variants :

The smartphones will succeed the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro. The devices will take their place at the top of the company’s most expensive smartphones list. With top-of-the-line specifications, the P30 and P30 Pro are aiming towards the premium photography centred flagship smartphone segment.

    The Huawei P30 is the less feature rich variant of the high-end P30 Pro. It features a similar design to the Huawei P20 launched last year. The device has a 6.1 inch OLED display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 px. The smartphone has an in-display fingerprint scanner with support for face recognition.

    The Huawei P30 runs on the 7nm Kirin 980 SoC. The chipset has an Octa-core Cortex CPU and a Mali G76 GPU.     The P30 Pro has a significantly larger 6.47 inch OLED display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 px. Unlike the regular P30, the display edges will be tapered to the sides, similar to the ones seen in the Mate 20 Pro. Like the regular variant, it also will have an in-display fingerprint with face unlock technology.

    The Huawei P30 pro also runs on the 7nm Kirin 980 chipset, which has an Octa-core Cortex CPU and a Mali G76 GPU. In terms of optics, the smartphone has a phenomenal quad rear camera module comprising of a 40MP primary sensor with an f/1.6 aperture, a 20MP ultra-wide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture,  a third 8MP periscopic telephoto lens with an f/3.4 aperture and a fourth ToF (Time of flight) sensor. The periscopic lens provides lossless 5x zoom capability, which is the highest amongst any smartphones right now. For selfies, there is a 32MP front camera housed in the notch up front. The P30 packs 8GB of RAM and an option of either 128GB, 256GB and 512GB of internal storage.

    The P30 Pro is powered by a larger 4,200 mAh battery, which utilizes Huawei’s 40W SuperCharge Wired Charging. The device also supports Reverse wireless charging. Moreover, it is also IP68 dust and water resistant like the P30. Both the smartphones ship with a silicone case and fast chargers in-the-box.

    The world’s second largest smartphone maker Huawei will unveil its next generation of camera oriented flagship smartphones, the P30 and P30 Pro at an event in Paris on March 26. They will succeed the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro which were released last year. Key specifications and features of the devices have either been confirmed by the company or have been leaked from several sources. Even official renders revealing how they would look like have been out for a while now. However, despite all of the information, there were no details about what these smartphones would cost. A known tipster Roland Quant on the microblogging website Twitter has revealed the prices of both the Huawei P30 and the P30 Pro. 

    Pricing

    According to the tipster, the Huawei P30 and the P30 Pro will be one of the most expensive smartphones the company has ever made. The P30 with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage will cost €749 (Rs. 58,107). The P30 Pro will start at €999 (Rs. 77,502) for the version with 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. The version with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage will cost €1099 (Rs. 85,260). Unfortunately, no information is known about the price of the Huawei P30 Pro with 8GB RAM and 512GB internal storage; but early estimates suggest it will be priced at €1199 (Rs. 93,018).

    While the chipset of the Huawei P30 Pro will be the same as the P30, the highlight of the smartphone will be its optics, especially the quad rear camera setup. It will be comprised of a 40MP sensor, combined with a 20MP ultra-wide sensor and a third camera with 10x lossless zoom. The third camera sensor will use a periscope style system to provide the handset with its zooming capabilities. A similar camera technology was shown by Oppo at the MWC 2019. The fourth camera will use a Time of Flight (ToF) sensor which will be engaged for clicking images with 3D and depth functionalities. The smartphone will be available in the following storage variants.

The company has confirmed quite a bit of detail of the handsets and there have been numerous leaks in the past few weeks. Fresh renders have leaked the Huawei P30 and the P30 Pro from all their sides.

    The Huawei P30 will be the specced down variant of the higher end P30 Pro. It will feature a similar design to the Huawei P20 launched last year. Reports claim that the device will have a 6.1 inch OLED display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 px. The leaked renders show no physical fingerprint scanner which suggests the smartphone will have an in-display fingerprint scanner along with support for face unlock technology.

    The Huawei P30 and the P30 Pro will be launched at an event in Paris on March 26. It will be available for sale in Europe and China soon after the unveiling. Unfortunately, pricing of the devices is not confirmed yet. But, the P30 is expected to be priced at EUR 599 (INR 46,862) and the P30 Pro starting at EUR 799 (INR 62,509).

    Last year, Huawei launched the P20 and P20 Pro smartphones which certainly have a focus on photography. In addition to their commendable camera performance, both smartphones were packed with top of the line specifications from the year 2018. The company is set to launch their successors which will be called the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro. Before the official announcement, the images and features of the upcoming devices have leaked.

    The details about the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro were leaked by a notable leakster, @rquandt on Twitter. The source claims that the pictures shared by him are official images of the devices which reveal them from all angles. The images exhibit that both the P30 and P30 Pro have tall displays on the front with a water drop notch up top. Both smartphones have Gradient style glass back panel which house the company branding and rear camera setup. 

    Distinctively, the P30 Pro has a larger display than the standard variant. Furthermore, the display on the former tapers towards the side, unlike the latter. Another noticeable difference between the two devices is the number of sensors in their rear camera setup. The P30 Pro has a quad camera rear camera setup while the P30 has a triple rear camera setup.

    Closely inspecting the rear of the P30 Pro reveals a square shaped sensor in the rear camera setup. According to the source, this sensor may have 10x optical zoom capabilities which are similar to Oppo’s 10x zoom capable camera sensor. However, it is yet unknown whether the sensor on the Huawei’s smartphone uses a movable glass prism-like Oppo or not. Examining the rear panel also reveals that the sensor has a variable aperture size of f/1.6 and f/3.4.

    Although it is now yet proclaimed, the smartphones are likely to run on the 7 nm based Kirin 980 SoC. The same chipset is also present on devices like the freshly announced Mate X and Mate 20 lineup. The chipset consists of an Octa-Core CPU and Mali G76 GPU. Detailed specifications including the screen size, battery capacity and resolution of the camera sensor will be publicised at the time of its launch date.

Huawei is stepping up their camera performance with their next flagship, the Huawei P30. Leaked camera samples from the smartphone have confirmed that the device will have a Quad Camera setup with extraordinary zooming capabilities.

    The P30 will help Huawei to establish a foothold in the premium smartphone segment this year. For the same reason, the handset is expected to offer top-of-the-line specifications in the market. Leaked renders suggest that the P30 will feature a glass-sandwich design. The smartphone will reportedly have a waterdrop-style notch and have a high screen-to-body ratio. Renders also show the presence of a 3.5 mm headphone jack on the device, which is an appreciable add-on from the Huawei P20. Like its predecessor, the device may have a similar gradient pattern on the back.
    The Huawei P30 will supposedly run on the latest 7 nm HiSillicon Kirin 980 SoC, which features an octa-core processor and the Mali G76 GPU. Furthermore, a ‘pro’ version of the smartphone is also expected to be launched at the same event. The Huawei devices will reportedly have up to 8GB RAM and up to 256 GB of Internal storage.

    The camera will undoubtedly be the highlight of the Huawei P30, because the Chinese company has already proved its capabilities with the Mate 20 Pro. The leaked images suggest that the Huawei P30 Pro will boast of a quad camera set up at the back, whereas the P30 will have a triple camera module. Although the specifications of the camera sensors are not available yet, both the devices are expected to feature a 40MP primary camera sensor. As reported previously, the second and the third camera will be the 3x optical zoom sensor and the ultra wide angle sensor respectively. The announcement video of the smartphone shows that the P30 will support 5x lossless zoom. As of now, the purpose of the fourth camera sensor in the P30 Pro is not clear, but it may be either a monochrome sensor or a depth sensor. Both the P30 and P30 pro will reportedly have a single 24MP front camera sensor.

    Huawei launched its current flagship device, the Mate 20 Pro late last year. The smartphone received raving reviews for its commendable performance and innovative camera capabilities. Seems like Huawei is looking to step up their game with their new flagship, the Huawei P30. Reports and leaks of which have been widespread for a few weeks. In a freshly shared Tweet, the company has announced the launch date and venue of the anticipated device.

    The tweet reads “Rules were made to be rewritten. Paris, 26.03.2019”. The hashtag used in the tweet confirms that the device the company is planning to launch at the event is indeed the P30. The video shared also shows off what seems like the lossless zoom feature of the device. The device will be unveiled in Paris on March 26.

    The P30 will be Huawei’s next flagship for most of 2019, so it is expected to offer top-tier specifications. According to the leaked images of the device, it will feature a glass-sandwich design with high screen-to-body ratio display that has a waterdrop style notch up top. A surprising addition to the smartphone in the renders is the revival of the headphone jack as Huawei previously removed the headphone jack from the P20. The chipset is based on 7 nm architecture and comprises of an Octa-Core CPU and Mali G76 GPU.  A Pro variant of the smartphone is also assumed which will feature better optics. Both the smartphones may have up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of Internal Storage.

    The notable feature of the smartphone will be its camera performance. The P series by Huawei is known for its innovative features in the cameras. According to the leaked images, the P30 will feature three rear cameras while the elder P30 Pro will have a quad rear camera setup. Unfortunately, details about the camera sensors aren’t known yet. However, both the devices are reported to feature a 40MP main camera sensor. While the second and third camera will make use of a sensor capable of 3x optical zoom and an ultra wide angle sensor. As shown in the announcement video, the smartphone will support 5x lossless zoom. The fourth lens on the Pro variant may either be a monochrome sensor as found on the P20 Pro or a depth sensor like the one present on the Samsung Galaxy A9. Both the smartphones are reported to have a 24MP selfie camera.

    Huawei is expected to soon launch the P30 lineup of smartphones which will succeed the P20 lineup. The P20 smartphones were launched last year and were primarily targetted as camera-centric devices and similar is expected from the upcoming devices. Although news about the launch of the P30 first surfaced online in late 2018, the details about its features were lacking. A listing of the P30 and P30 Pro on a case maker’s website reveals their key features and design details. 

    Huawei P30 Pro and P30 Design

    Both the P30 Pro and P30 have a similar design with a glass front and rear build. On the front of both devices sit a high screen-to-body ratio display with a small waterdrop notch that houses the front selfie camera. The top, left and right bezels of the smartphones are thin and almost negligible whereas the bottom bezel is comparatively thicker. 

    The right side of the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro accommodate the power button and volume rockers while their bottom side is occupied by USB Type-C port, loudspeaker grill and main microphone pinhole. The visible difference between the two devices is the rear camera module alignment and number of sensors in it. The rear of the Huawei P30 has a triple camera setup below which sits a dual LED flash and dual microphones.  

    On the other hand, the rear camera setup of the Huawei P30 Pro consists of fours sensors. Also, the dual LED flash and dual microphones on the device are placed next to the protruding camera module which is unlike the P30. 

    Additionally, the cutouts at the bottom of the P30’s case indicate that the device will have a 3.5mm audio jack while the elder P30 Pro might skip this feature. The case maker’s website does not reveal any specifications of the smartphones. Fortunately, another source supplies this information as well.

    According to leaks, the Huawei P30 Pro will be the world’s first smartphone to feature the Sony IMX607 sensor that has a 38 MP resolution and an f/1.8 aperture. The resolution of the other three camera sensors of the smartphone is yet unavailable. Both the P30 and the P30 Pro are likely to feature the 7 nm Kirin 980 SoC which is also present on the Mate 20 Pro.

    In terms of memory and storage, the top end variant of both devices will be offered with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of ROM. Both devices are also expected to support nano SD card which is the company’s proprietary memory expansion format. The source claims that the elder P30 Pro will be powered by a mammoth 4,200 mAh battery while the P30 will pack a 3,400 mAh powerhouse.
