Palm Inc was founded in 1992 and it specialized in manufacturing PDAs (personal digital assistants) which became outdated with time. In 2011, HP acquired the Palm Brand and they manufactured a few models under the Palm brand running webOS. But the phones were unable to compete with Android smartphones due to lack of apps and support. In 2014 China-based TCL corporation bought the Palm brand from HP. In 2015 TCL confirmed they will revive the Palm Brand with the approach of crowdsourced smartphones.

Palm, The company that was killed due to lack of intelligent structuring by HP, remains as one of the biggest loss-outs in the mobile acquisition history. Palm was the first after Apple to offer an OS capable of interacting with touchscreen devices, and one that was also limited to their own devices. HP recently announced that it would stop making Touchpads and other WebOS devices. Earlier known as the Touchpad G the 7inch device has come into existence on a chinese forum. A 7 inch tablet with a 4:3 aspect ratio is a first by itself.
This one also has 2 cameras and an NFC chip. The funny thing however is , that we don’t know whether or not HP will actually launch the WebOS based Tablet.

Hewlett-Packard (HP), the world’s largest PC maker, after ending WebOS, is considering spinning off its massive PC manufacturing business.
According to HP, its Personal Systems Group (PSG) is worth $40 billion in annual revenues. The PSG includes personal computers, technical workstations, WebOS-powered tablets and smart phones, as well as personal storage solutions.

About 8 months ago HP acquired Palm including PalmOS for a deal of 1.2 billion US dollars. Merely months after acquisition and a couple months after launching the WebOS based Mobile devices including Touchpad and Pre 3, HP today in its press release stated that it will abandon WebOS Devices including Touchpad and Pre 3.
In addition, HP reported that it plans to announce that it will discontinue operations for webOS devices, specifically the TouchPad and webOS phones. HP will continue to explore options to optimize the value of webOS software going forward.“

HP just recently announced the TouchPad, Pre 3 and Veer. Now it appears HP may have more devices to be announced including the one leaked above. Codenamed the Stingray this webOS device comes without a physical keyboard and their source describes the device as an “EVO with WEB OS”.
Its been a month and more since the new Web OS devices were announced by HP, we have no news or reports of them heading to India. We hope the devices reach India soon, before we run out of the urge to test the new version of WEB OS.

HP is bound to ship the new device early, and the word on the street, in Taiwan is thet the Company will start selling its monster hardware tablet in the month of April along with the much awaited iPad 2.
The sources pointed out that HP internally is aiming to ship 45-48 million notebooks and tablet PCs combined in 2011. After deducting the volume of HP’s notebook shipment forecast, HP’s TouchPad series product shipments in 2011 are forecasted to be around 4-5 million units.
