LG has released the Optimus VU smartphone in Korea on saturday, that truly banks in on the success of the Samsung Galaxy Note, because of the large screen size and included Stylus pen. The device also features a nice 4×3 aspect ratio, 1024×768 resolution screen, which has a stylus friendly 5-inch IPS LCD display. The phone is also extremely slim at just 8.5mm thickness. It will be available in March with select carriers in Korea. LG promises an upgrade to ICS within 3 months for device availability. For shutterbugs the device features an 8MP camera at back and a 1.3 MP front snapper.

Nendo, a Japanese company has designed a USB pen drive in the shape of a paper clip for Elecom. The design is supposed to define a new relationship between physical and digital media. It can be used as a standard paper clip to keep papers and files organized.

A Russian designer felt that his data wasn’t secure so he drafted up a design in AutoCAD and came up with this device. It adds a layer of physical security to a regular pen drive by adding a five wheel combination lock to it. The NoteSlate was designed as an alternative to paper. This limited function tablet is currently in the concept stages but its designers claim a projected release date of June 2011. With a 13″ matte finish screen, the NoteSlate is the size of a regular A4 sheet of paper which reads and writes files in the .pdf format. All models except one are 1-bit colour, offering the choice of black on a white screen, or white, red, blue, or green on a black screen; the additional version features all four colours on black.

Specs include a 1.5GHz single-core CPU, 1GB of RAM plus 32GB of flash storage, an aluminum unibody construction, 1024 x 600 resolution, a tablet-optimized version of Sense, and a pressure sensitive capacitive stylus.
There is also a 5 megapixel camera in the back along with a 1.3 megapixel up front for video calls etc. The flyer has a 4000 mah battery and microsd card slot which will support next gen 64gb cards as well.
