OnePlus launched the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T smartphones in the year 2017. The smartphones were originally launched with Android 7 Nougat which later received the Android 8 Oreo update. On 25 December 2018, the company rolled out the Oxygen OS 9.0 OTA update which is based on the latest Android 9.0 Pie for both the smartphones. Although the update was a pleasant Christmas surprise for device owners, some users complained about glitches they faced after the software update. OnePlus has rolled out an Oxygen OS 9.0.1 OTA update that addresses the issues faced by the users.

This update does not add any new features to the devices but is a minor update to the previously released OxygenOS 9.0.0 update.
