  • Samsung Galaxy A2 Core Android Go Smartphone Leaked

Samsung Galaxy A2 Core Android Go Smartphone Leaked

Samsung has employed a shift in its strategy over the past few months. In an attempt to compete with the ever improving hold of Chinese smartphone OEMs in developing markers; it has launched devices offering competitive specifications at lucrative prices. The recent examples of this change are the newly launched Galaxy M and Galaxy A lineup of smartphones. In a gambit to capture the budget market, the company is planning to launch an Android Go certified device. This handset, alleged to be called the Galaxy A2 Core, has leaked in images on Twitter by a famous tipster.

    Galaxy A2 Core: Design

The Galaxy A2 Core will be the next smartphone from the company to be certified under the Android Go program. This allows devices with less than or equal to 1GB of RAM to function better because of a lightweight software. The leaked image reveals the looks of the device in its entirety. The front of the handset has the display surrounded by significant bezels and the Samsung branding on the bottom. There is an earpiece on top, accompanied by the front-facing camera on the left and the proximity sensor on the right. The right side of the device houses the volume rockers and underneath them is the power button to lock/unlock the device. The left is expected to have the SIM card tray and the bottom of the device has the 3.5mm headphone jack.

The back of the Samsung Galaxy A2 Core has a single rear camera setup with an LED flash. The main loudspeaker is present below the camera module and in the centre, there is the company’s branding. There is no physical fingerprint scanner in sight, so the smartphone may rely on face unlock technology; along with traditional unlocking methods like numerical pins, patterns and passwords.

    Galaxy A2 Core: Specifications

While the leak doesn’t mention any specifications of the device, a recent listing on CPU benchmarking website Geekbench revealed key specifications of the Galaxy A2 Core. According to the listing, the model number of the aforementioned smartphone will be SM-A260F which falls in line to previous reports of the device. The device runs Android 8.1 Oreo Go edition out of the box and may feature Samsung’s Experience UI on top.

The Samsung Galaxy A2 Core runs on the 14nm Exynos 7870 SoC. The chipset has an Octa-core CPU and Mali-T830 MP1 GPU. The CPU has a base frequency of 1.59GHz which gives it a single-core score of 716 and multi-core score of 2446 on Geekbench. Galaxy A2 Core will have 1GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage.

  • Samsung Is Developing A Smartphone With An Invisible Punch Hole Camera

Samsung Is Developing A Smartphone With An Invisible Punch Hole Camera

Korean electronics Giant, Samsung launched the Galaxy S10 lineup of smartphones last month which are packed with top tier specifications. Out of all the remarkable features, one evident feature that stands out is the punch hole selfie camera. This feature has allowed Samsung to manufacture smartphones that have a considerably high screen-to-body ratio. As of now, Samsung has only released a handful of smartphones with a punch hole camera, a fresh report claims that the company wants to push the boundaries of this technology even further. According to a senior Samsung executive, the company is working towards developing a smartphone with an invisible punch hole camera.

In simple words, the smartphones with this type of display will have a punch hole camera which would stay concealed during regular usage. The light pixels on the display in front of the camera will have a clear back. Given that the user turns on the selfie camera on the smartphone with this type of display, the pixels in the concerned area will turn off. Due to the transparent back of the pixels, the camera underneath them will function as a regular punch hole camera which can unobstructedly capture videos and images.

In addition to the display with a hidden selfie camera, Samsung is also working on another praiseworthy technology for displays of future smartphones. The company is developing displays which will have an inbuilt speaker eliminating the need for an additional earpiece. This technology has already been seen on the LG G8 ThinQ which was launched at the MWC 2019. Such a display would have a piezoelectric sensor mounted underneath with whose help the entire display will function as an earpiece.

There were reports about a possible Galaxy A40, Galaxy A60 and Galaxy A90 in the works for some time too. Another upcoming device claimed to be the Galaxy A70 has passed Bluetooth certification. This suggests that the launch of the device is imminent.

    Samsung Galaxy A70 Specifications

The Bluetooth Special Interests Group (SIG) has certified two variants of the Galaxy A70: SM-A705FN and SM-A705GM. This confirms the smartphone will have support for the latest Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity on board. Unfortunately, the listing does not mention any key specifications of the device.

Like the current smartphones in the Samsung Galaxy A series, the Galaxy A70 is also expected to retain the same design language. It may have the ‘Glasstic’ gradient design on the back. The leaks suggest that the device will have a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with minimal bezels and an Infinity-U notch on top of it. Like the Galaxy A50, it will have an in-display fingerprint scanner and will also support face unlock technology.

Previous reports cited that the Galaxy A70 will run on the Snapdragon 675 SoC which is manufactured using 11nm fabrication process. The chipset has an Octa-core CPU and Adreno 612 GPU. Samsung Launches New 12GB RAM Modules For Future Smartphones

Samsung Electronics has announced today that it has begun the mass production of the highest capacity of mobile Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) currently available. It is the first 12GB Low-Power Double Data Rate 4X (LPDDR4X) RAM which is made for future smartphones. According to the company, the new product will enable users to take full advantage of all the features that are expected to arrive in the next generation of smartphones.

    Samsung 12GB LPDDR4X Mobile DRAM

With the new 12GB LPDDR4X mobile DRAM module from Samsung, the company aims to maximize the potential of devices that feature more than five cameras. It will also help with the ever-increasing display sizes on devices and will boost Artificial Intelligence and 5G capabilities in smartphones. More RAM, in general, signifies better multitasking and faster operations in the device’s UI. Samsung claims an industry leading 1.1 millimetres thickness of the DRAM module, which may lead to slimmer smart devices featuring the technology.

The new 12GB LPDDR4X mobile DRAM module is manufactured using a 10nm fabrication process. According to Samsung, this is achieved by combining six 16-gigabit (Gb) LPDDR4X chips based on the second generation 10nm process into a single package. This new module is thus capable of data transfer rates of up to 34.1GB per second. It also claims that the new technology reduces power consumption, making smartphone batteries last even longer.

  • Samsung Is Working On An Ingenious Foldable Phone Claims Patent

Samsung Is Working On An Ingenious Foldable Phone Claims Patent

Late last month, the Korean Electronics giant, Samsung launched its first foldable smartphone called the Galaxy Fold. The device has an unconventional design with a large foldable inner display and a primary cover display. Soon after the launch of the Galaxy Fold, Huawei launched its first foldable smartphone that carries the Mate X moniker. The key difference between the two newly launched devices is the type of foldable display. The Samsung Galaxy Fold has an inner folding display while the Mate X has an outward folding display which the company refers as a falcon wing design. A freshly granted patent to Samsung proposes that the company is working on another foldable phone with an ingenious design. The patent also raises the question of whether the device is a successor to the Galaxy Fold or an entirely different smartphone.

    Patent Disclosures

Samsung filed the patent for the aforementioned foldable smartphone with WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) on the 21st September 2018 which it was granted on the 4th of January 2019. The front of the device houses a large screen foldable display which is stabilised via a complex spring-loaded mechanism. The left and right halves of the foldable device are consolidated with the help of a flexible material which conceals the previously mentioned mechanism.

The spring that drives the mechanism stays in a rested position when the device is in its folded state. However, to maintain a flat unfolded state the user must turn a small latch at the rear of the device which tenses the spring to present a smooth and wrinkle-free display. As the display of the device from the patent stays exposed it is highly susceptible to scratches and scuffs. Therefore, the company is also expected to develop a protective case for the device. Surprisingly, the patent does not exhibit any camera sensor on the front or the rear of the device. Any details about the specifications of the foldable smartphone are currently unavailable. We will have to wait for the company to spread some light on the foldable smartphone from the freshly granted patent.

Is It The Galaxy Fold 2?

The answer to this question is not certain, however, presumably the freshly patented device will co-exist alongside the Galaxy Fold. The market for foldable phones has just started to bloom and Samsung being a leader would want to take full advantage of the market that is soon expected to explode. Accordingly, the company is likely to launch several foldable phones with disparate sizes and forms to examine the choices of the consumers.

Samsung Official UK Website Confirms Galaxy A90, Galaxy A40 And Galaxy A20e

Samsung launched a range of smartphones in the Galaxy A lineup last month. These devices include the Galaxy A10, Galaxy A30 and the Galaxy A50. They were not just new launches for the company but also signified a change in product strategy in order to compete with the ever-increasing hold of Chinese OEMs in countries like India. A few days ago, unreleased Samsung smartphones which were alleged to be the Galaxy A90, Galaxy A40 and Galaxy A60 were hinted in leaks. Samsung’s UK website has confirmed the existence of the Galaxy A90, Galaxy A40 and the Galaxy A20e. The dedicated pages of the smartphones were listed on the aforementioned website.

    Samsung Galaxy A90

The Galaxy A90 is expected to be the most premium device in the current A series of smartphones. While most details of it aren’t known yet, it is expected to feature a similar design to its siblings. The device was previously leaked to have a mechanical pop-up camera or a rotating mechanical camera to achieve a high screen to body ratio. If the latest smartphones are anything to go by, the Galaxy A90 will have a Super AMOLED display and will run on the OneUI on top of Android 9 Pie. The company may use an entirely new type of Infinity Display on the handset. Like the last year’s Galaxy A9, it is also expected to have a quad-rear camera setup, details of which are unknown at the moment.

The Galaxy A90 will most likely have an in-display fingerprint sensor. The device may run on the Snapdragon 710 SoC which is manufactured using 10nm fabrication process. The chipset has an Octa-core CPU and Adreno 616 GPU. For memory and storage, the smartphone may feature 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.

    Samsung Galaxy A40

Samsung Galaxy A40 will be an affordable offering from the company which will sit between the newly announced Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50. Reports suggest that the smartphone will have a similar design to its siblings, complete with a polycarbonate body and a ‘glasstic’ back. The display will sport an Infinity-U, 6.2 inch Super AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 px. Like the Galaxy A30, it will have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and will support face unlock technology.

Under the hood, the Galaxy A40 is expected to run on the Exynos 7885 SoC which is manufactured using 14nm fabrication process. The chipset has an Octa-core CPU and a Mali G71 GPU. In terms of optics, the smartphone will feature a dual rear camera setup. In terms of memory and storage, the device will be available with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.

    Samsung Galaxy A20e

The Samsung Galaxy A20e will be the most affordable device out of the three. The alphabet ‘e’ in the name suggests a lighter version of the regular Galaxy A20, as Samsung did the same with the Galaxy S10e and the Galaxy Tab S5e. It will be likely that the smartphone features the ‘Glasstic’ design on a polycarbonate back that the Galaxy A10 has. In terms of display, the device will have a Super AMOLED display with a resolution of HD+ and an Infinity-U notch on the top.

The leaks hint that the Galaxy A20e will be the Android Go edition of the regular variant and thus feature Android Oreo Go edition out of the box. The smartphone will not have a fingerprint sensor and instead will rely on face unlock technology for quick access to the device. Under the hood, the device will run on the Exynos 7870 SoC. For memory and storage, the device is expected to pack in 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

  • Samsung Patents A Wireless Television

    Samsung Patents A Wireless Television

Samsung is a leader in several fronts of technology including smartphones and televisions. Earlier this year the company had launched the world’s first smartphone with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor in the form of Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10+. Another interesting product that the company is expected to launch is wireless Television. A freshly granted patent demonstrates how the aforementioned Television operates and functions.

    Patent Revelations

Samsung filed a patent with WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) for a wireless power transceiver and display equipment in the month of March last year. The patent was granted to the company on the 28th of February 2019, which details how Samsung envisions to power the TV wirelessly. Traditionally, wireless power transfer can be achieved with the help of using a wide coil. But, it is not feasible to accommodate the apparatus in thin televisions of the modern day.

The patent granted to Samsung exhibits a slim bar-shaped wireless power transceiver which is mounted horizontally behind the TV unit. A transceiver is a device that can both transmit and receive connections. The power transceiver is provided with dual coils which are wound in opposite directions. The patent also details a power supply unit which is placed below the TV but does not physically touches the display unit. Except for this information, other details like the size of the display, type of the display are currently unavailable. According to reports, the TV with this technology will take a few more months to turn into consumer-ready products. Accordingly, the company can showcase such a TV at the upcoming IFA 2019 event or CES 2020.

The two upcoming devices will provide a headstart to Samsung in the market that is expected to explode soon.

    Upcoming Foldable Galaxy Smartphones

    Samsung Galaxy Fold

The Bloomberg report claims that out of the two upcoming foldable Galaxy devices, one will have a vertically folding display while the second type will have an outer folding display. The vertically folding smartphone is reported to go on sale by the year of this year while the outward folding Galaxy smartphone will be released early next year. Samsung had previously claimed that it expects to ship 1 million units of a foldable smartphone in the year 2019. The upcoming smartphone will help reach the company to reach its anticipated target.
