Samsung XCover FieldPro Rugged Smartphone Leaked

Samsung had just unveiled the XCover 4S earlier this month. A fresh report now showcases that the South Korean company is working on a new device in the lineup of rugged phones. These smartphones are robust and do not require extra protection like cases. The new handset will be dubbed the XCover FieldPro and will bring improvements across the board for the upcoming device.

Samsung applied for a trademark for the device that will probably be an advanced variant of the previously launched XCover 4S. The aforementioned series of smartphones are built to survive tough usage and resist wear and tear in harsh environments not recommended for traditional smartphones. Rugged phones are designed to be dust and waterproof devices and be used in fieldwork areas such as construction or off-shore sights. The XCover FieldPro will most likely sport a more powerful processor and an improved camera over its previous iterations.

Unfortunately, no additional information is available apart from the trademark being filed under the XCover FieldPro name. It is clear through its name that it is a ‘Pro’ model and should feature top of the line or at least better internal specifications than its predecessors. Samsung had previously also launched an extra model for its XCover 3. However, the new variant the XCover 3 Value Edition arrived a year later with just software improvements.

The XCover FieldPro will also run on the Android 9 Pie OS similar to the XCover 4S, if not the upcoming Android 10 Q version. The name of the device initially makes it sound like a gadget accessory for the XCover series but the filed report clearly defines a smartphone. Samsung had filed the patent in the United Kingdom on the 27th of June 2019 with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office).

Samsung’s new addition to the rugged family will be a welcomed entry in the professional series and more information is expected to be revealed in the arriving weeks.

  • Samsung Galaxy Fold 5G Receives FCC Certification Before Launch

Samsung Galaxy Fold 5G Receives FCC Certification Before Launch

Samsung was one of the first companies to launch a foldable smartphone. The Galaxy Fold was first introduced in February 2019 and had a scheduled launch date set later in April. Unfortunately, the commercial availability of the device has since been delayed due to multiple instances of malfunctioning caused by a premature release.

It is now reported that Samsung will also launch a new Galaxy Fold variant capable of 5G networking, as seen in an FCC (Federal Communications Commission) certification.

    Galaxy Fold

The South Korean electronics company will most likely launch the upcoming 5G variant alongside the standard Galaxy Fold model. The tech giant has reportedly fixed all the issues that had plagued the device pre-launch and is expected to be available soon. Both the 4G and 5G variants of the Galaxy Fold will probably have identical features and specifications, except connectivity and battery size. The standard version is a dual SIM device with 4380mAh battery capacity while the 5G model is only equipped with a single SIM and slightly smaller 4235mAh battery.

    Samsung Galaxy Fold

5G network bandwidth has yet to see widespread commercial adoption in various countries developed and developing alike. In countries like India where even 4G network has not had complete penetration, it is unlikely to see the release of any devices capable of the faster bandwidth. South Korea, on the other hand, has seen great integration with 5G and devices capable of it. Samsung’s Galaxy S10 5G is one of the biggest examples with over 1 million units sold in just a short amount of time.

    Galaxy S10 5G

Besides, Samsung has reportedly been working on a new foldable smartphone with a curved edge. It is highly unlikely that any of the aforementioned foldable phones would sport the new design immediately. Since Samsung has announced that a new foldable phone will be launched annually, it is probable that the Galaxy Fold 2 may incorporate the new aesthetical feature.

Samsung Galaxy A90 Leaked, To Feature Snapdragon 855, 5G Support

It was reported earlier that Samsung is planning to introduce a new Galaxy R series of smartphones. The first device that was speculated to arrive in the series was the previously leaked Galaxy A90, according to a known gadget tipster on Twitter. Unfortunately, the tipster has now claimed that there was some confusion between the internal and commercial naming scheme of the device. Now, it has been revealed that contrary to the prior information, the Galaxy A90 will be launched with the aforementioned name and not in the Galaxy R series; which likely does not exist.

    Galaxy S10+

According to gadget tipster who goes by the name @Onleaks on Twitter, Samsung is working on two variants of the Galaxy A90 smartphone. Both of these carry a model number SM-A905 and SM-A908 respectively. Apart from clearing the air around its naming details, the specifications of the devices have also been revealed.

The SM-A908 will be the 5G variant of the Galaxy A90 and will have a 6.7-inch display. It will utilise an in-display fingerprint scanner for quickly accessing the handset and will have a triple camera setup comprised of a 48MP primary sensor; alongside an 8MP secondary and 5MP tertiary sensor. It will run on the 7nm Snapdragon 855 SoC which consists of an Octa-core CPU and the Adreno 640 GPU. As mentioned above, the smartphone will have support for 5G; the next generation of mobile networks.

    Samsung Galaxy A90

The other variant of the Samsung Galaxy A90, with the model number SM-A905, will have the same screen size; fingerprint scanner placement and the processor as the 5G variant mentioned above. The major difference between both the smartphones will be in connectivity and cameras. As it implies, the device will not support 5G networks, instead, relying on 4G LTE for connectivity. In terms of optics, the handset will have a 48MP primary camera, alongside a 12MP secondary and 5MP tertiary sensor.

  • Samsung Could Be Working On A New Galaxy Fold With Curved Display

Samsung Could Be Working On A New Galaxy Fold With Curved Display

Foldable smartphones have been a hot topic of the year. A smartphone that can bend its screen was a far off fantasy in the past. Samsung, with the Galaxy Fold, became one of the first companies to ever make this dream a reality for many enthusiasts. Unfortunately, the technology was prematurely revealed to the world. However, A brand new report has suggested that the company might be working on a new folding device with curved edges.

    Foldable smartphone

Samsung has still not given an official announcement for the launch of its Galaxy Fold, and are now seemingly applying patents for a new device. The patent is for an upcoming foldable smartphone with a curved edge display. Unlike, Huawei’s upcoming Mate X which has its screen on the inside, Samsung is pushing for a display panel on the outside. The last couple of years have seen many such patents pop up showcasing revolutionary and innovative designs.

    Foldable smartphone

Samsung’s latest foldable smartphone was filed for a patent under the title, “Foldable electronic device including flexible device.” This implies that a full-screen curved edge folding handset may already be under development. The second iteration of the company’s foldable phone does not seem to have any visible sidebar and its front-facing is camera built into the screen.

The foldable smartphone has two major halves that are held together by a hinge, onto which both sides can cave into. According to the schematics, a rotatable hinge is being used for this design, unlike the one present in the Galaxy Fold. The hinge is partially built into the devices rear panels recess. The mechanism has to be perfect in its implementation lest they repeat the past iterations debacle. Samsung will most likely make this a premium smartphone with top-notch specs and hardware.

    Foldable smartphone

The South Korean OEM will probably incorporate a high-grade display into the device. A tablet format viewing experiences can be taken from the foldable smartphone once it is expanded. The device has curved edges flank both sides, that makes it look stylish like in previous Galaxy S and Note series flagships. Users will find a curved display on one side and the hinge on the other when the device is folded. The punch hole camera is housed on the top left corner of the screen, which allows for use even when the device isn’t folded. A heart rate sensor and flash are also planned according to the patent description.

    Foldable smartphone

The earpiece and ambient light sensors are placed on the top of the foldable smartphone, with the bottom having the mic (left half) and charging port (right half). The frame border on the side cannot be discerned due to the introduction of the curved edges. Placement of the power button is still unknown and a 3.5mm headphone jack will probably not be seen in the smartphone. Samsung had previously abandoned the buttonless idea on the Galaxy Note 10 during development, but the feature may finally make an appearance.

The introduction of the curved edges is a highly welcomed addition to the already innovative design of the phone. The tech giant is pulling out every trick it has in the new device to make it fill the shortcoming of its predecessors. Many OEMs have yet to release foldable devices and Samsung could very well bring the form factor to mainstream audiences in the future.

Weinbach allegedly received the information from his source who gave out a total of 9 details regarding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 10. All of these were shared in the tweet thread. In the country, Samsung has gained over 51 percent of the market share by value and about a total of 50 percent by volume of sales. With this years lineup, Samsung is hoping for a net growth of 20 percent. According to a senior official, the company has already registered double-digit growth in comparison to the preceding year and is now seeking to revive the ‘stagnant’ tablet space in the country in 2019. Tablets are a bigger size offering against smartphones that allows media consumption, entertainment, and even workloads being enhanced and a tad bit more accessible. Furthermore, users now browse, shop and use multimedia functions more than ever before and these large devices provide a great platform to experience it.

Samsung To Debut A New Mid Range Galaxy R Series

Samsung introduced the Galaxy M and the refreshed Galaxy A lineup of smartphones earlier this year; in a bid to take back the market lost to Chinese OEMs like Xiaomi, Honor and Realme. The company has since seen significant success with both the lineups in countries like India. Now, a known gadget tipster has claimed that Samsung is looking forward to introducing a brand new series which will be called the Galaxy R.

According to the tipster who goes by the username @OnLeaks on Twitter, the Samsung Galaxy R series of the smartphone will cater to the mid-range. Two devices are currently in development in the lineup, out of which both of them have a huge display and triple rear cameras. It is claimed that at least one of the handsets in the upcoming series will have support for 5G; the next generation of mobile networks.

The other smartphone is touted to have a unique camera feature, details of which are unknown at the moment. One of the smartphones in the Samsung Galaxy R series may be the long rumoured Galaxy A90 which will be rebranded into the new lineup. The device has the model number SM-A90X and was leaked a while ago, but was later claimed to be launched as the Galaxy A80 back in the month of April. This suggests that the “unique” camera feature may be a pop-up mechanism to house the front-facing camera; as the feature was expected to debut with the Galaxy A90.

The upcoming 5G smartphone in Samsung’s R series will not be the first 5G capable device from the company. It has earlier launched the Galaxy S10 5G back in the month of February. While the handset caters to the premium category, the 5G R series device is expected to be a mid-range handset, so it may be the world’s most affordable 5G smartphone when it is introduced. Unfortunately, more details about the lineup including the price and rest of the specifications are unknown at the moment but are expected to be revealed in the following weeks.
