Apple iPhone X & XS Prices To Drop Soon After Made In India Units Arrive

Earlier this year, Foxconn was reported to start the production of Apple’s current generation of flagships in India. The renowned Taiwanese contract manufacturer has been working to produce the iPhone X and iPhone XS models in the country. Notably, another manufacturer named Wistron is already producing iPhone 7 for the southeastern nation. The Made in India smartphones will cause the prices to drop for the iPhone lineups in the subcontinent.

Apple’s top end iPhones that are assembled in India will sell for a lower cost and are expected to arrive this August. According to the report, Apple is expanding local assembly in hopes to save on the high taxes; which is levied by the Government on imported fully built devices that are sold in the country. The company is also looking into collaboration with local sourcing firms to open its own retail stores within the Indian subcontinent.

    Apple

Apple is a popular brand in the premium market of the country with millions of loyal Indian fans. However, the market share still just accounts for 1% of the entire holdings. A shift of market share has been observed after the emergence of brands such as OnePlus. It is reported that Foxconn would start the production of iPhone X series of devices in Tamil Nadu, a south Indian State. Apple is already building the iPhone SE, iPhone 6S, and iPhone 7 models in India’s tech hub, Bengaluru. The American company’s local production of smartphones could provide a sizeable margin to the company on each unit; this in turn will help drive the prices lower.

The Made In India initiative positively impacting foreign companies is a great deal for the country. It ensures more competitive pricing and choices for the customers which is always a plus point. Apple could now potentially use India as an export hub amidst the US and China trade wars. The company is already reported to shift some of its Chinese production and India is one of the countries that will see a growth in manufactuing of Apple products.

  • Apple To Start Manufacturing iPhone X In India July Onwards

Apple To Start Manufacturing iPhone X In India July Onwards

In the light of the recent news that Apple has started manufacturing the iPhone 7 in India, rumours came to light stating that the American technology organization will also start the manufacturing the iPhone X in India soon. It seems that the rumours weren’t rumours after all, as sources have confirmed that Foxconn will begin commercial production of the iPhone X series in India starting July.

As per reports, the production will begin in Foxconn’s 160-acre factory located in Chennai. Claims were also made regarding the fact that the company will step up its production capacity and will slowly expand towards manufacturing higher models of the iPhone lineup. Moreover, reports also stated that the expansion will largely depend upon the viability of the production process in regard to the next government. When the concerned organizations were contacted, no statement was received in return.

In 2017, Apple started manufacturing its first smartphone in India via Wistron, which was the iPhone SE, and the commercial production of the same started in a factory based on the outskirts of Bangalore. After iPhone SE, the iPhone 6S was placed under production in the same factory. Statistics indicate that more than 290 million Apple smartphones were manufactured in India in the year 2018, which is almost 5 times the number of devices manufactured in 2014.

As previously reported, Apple is revamping its market strategy in the country by shaping the perception of Indian smartphone consumers towards Apple. The American company also plans to undergo major changes to improve its marketing statistics in India. Since the iPhone X will now be manufactured in India, this might result in higher profits, leading to more capital invested in R&D (Research And Development) and improved sales statistics.

  • Foxconn To Start Trial Run Of iPhone X/XS Production In India

Foxconn To Start Trial Run Of iPhone X/XS Production In India

Foxconn, a known Taiwanese contract manufacturer, will soon start producing Apple’s latest smartphones, namely the iPhone X and iPhone XS models in the Indian subcontinent. Fresh reports claim that the company is planning to start a trial run of the said production in a few weeks. This news arrives after Apple announced that another manufacturer, Wistron has started manufacturing the iPhone 7 in the Indian market.

    What Does This Mean?

Sources claim the trial run of the iPhone X and iPhone XS smartphone models would take place before Foxconn starts full-scale assembly of the said devices. This would take place at the factory outside the city of Chennai. If the plan proceeds to fruition, Apple would then be responsible for the production of iPhone 6s, iPhone SE, iPhone 7 and the iPhone X/XS in India. The Indian assembly line of Foxconn’s Hon Hai Precision Industry would manufacture smartphones for the local and export markets; until the announcement of the next iPhone, suggestively in September this year.

The reports cite that out of 140 million smartphone shipments in India last year, Apple had just 1.7 million. This makes for just around a 1 percent share in the country. If the company starts the production of its premium devices locally, it would get rid of the 20 percent import duty that it has to pay. The company would meet the 30 percent local sourcing criteria; which would make it get one step closer to opening its own chain of retail store in India. Foxconn, its manufacturer is said to invest around US$ 300 million to set up the production; and will increase the investment as the capacity increases.

It is likely that Apple iPhone X/XS will get a significant price reduction if they are manufactured locally. This is due to the aforementioned freedom from import duties. Start of the company’s own retail stores can bring initiatives like “Today at Apple” to the country; which is the name of creative sessions by trained professionals.

Apple Is Now Selling Refurbished Units Of The iPhone X

Apple launched the iPhone X in the year 2017 which was originally available for US $ 999 for the base 64 GB variant. Although the device has now been discontinued in most countries, the company is selling refurbished units of the iPhone X in the US and UK at heavily discounted prices.

    What Is A Refurbished Device?

Certified refurbishment is the distribution of products, usually electronics and electricals, that have been previously returned to the company for various reasons like not sold in the market or new launch of a product.

Reputably,  Apple’s certified refurbished devices are thoroughly examined, cleaned, and repackaged into a new box with all new accessories and user manuals. Additionally, the company also replaces the casing and battery of refurbished devices. Hence, such devices are regarded as good as brand-new.

  • Qualcomm Refused To Sell Chips For Apple iPhones

Qualcomm Refused To Sell Chips For Apple iPhones

It was the talk of the town when Apple decided to ditch Qualcomm’s chips and go with Intel instead. However now, it has come to the forefront that Apple wanted to have Qualcomm chips on their iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR models but was refused a sale by Qualcomm themselves. Apple had originally wanted to give half the contract to Intel and half to Qualcomm. It was in 2016 when Apple started splitting the chip orders between Intel and Qualcomm. But this time they had to give the entire modem order to Intel.

These revelations have come out from a senior member of Apple who revealed these information during his testimony to the US Federal Trade Commission. Apple and Qualcomm have been at loggerheads for quite some time now with Qualcomm being on trial, accused of monopolistic practices. The case registered is based on a complaint brought by the Federal Trade Commission in 2017. Apple had also sued Qualcomm just three days after the FTC filed its complaint. The accusations were similar to that of the FTC stating Qualcomm strong- armed companies into paying royalties.

    Apple Intel
    Image via 9To5Mac

This however has not been a single sided battle and Qualcomm itself has accused Apple of patent infringement in China and Germany. This has led to a decision of banning a few older iPhone models in China as well. Intel and Samsung has also filed amicus briefs supporting the FTC. Both those companies being competitors of Qualcomm.

Implications On The Future Of Smartphone Industry

While Qualcomm has already made strides in the 5G development, Intel’s 5G chips are not ready yet and may take another year. This means manufacturers who use Qualcomm’s hardware will be able to bring 5G ready phones to the market faster than Intel chip users.

On the other hand, if the prices in terms of royalties are reduced by Qualcomm, phone manufacturers may use that extra money to focus on other features. The royalty reduction however wouldn’t trickle down to reduction of phone prices for customers.

  • iPhone Ban In China To Be Lifted Due To iOS Update

iPhone Ban In China To Be Lifted Due To iOS Update

Apple and Qualcomm have been engaged in a patent war. Earlier this month, Qualcomm won a legal battle against Apple in China. A Chinese court found Apple guilty of violating two patents which are held by Qualcomm. The court’s ruling will restrict Apple from importing and selling certain iPhone models in the country. The restricted devices include smartphones ranging between the iPhone 6S and the iPhone X models.  The patents are related to navigating apps on a touch screen and resizing photos. But according to Apple, they can easily resolve the issue and comply with the court’s ruling.

    Apple’s Solution

Both the patents restricting Apple from importing and selling iPhones in China are software related. Therefore, the company can easily seed a software update for the affected iPhone models. Post the update, the smartphone will comply with Qualcomm’s patents resulting in the ban being lifted. The software update from Apple will start rolling out, starting this week.

Furthermore, Apple has already filed for a reconsideration request. The company also said that a ban on iPhones would impact its Chinese suppliers and consumers as well as the tax revenue it pays to the authorities. If the ban is not lifted, the plummeting sales of the iPhone would take another jab. Most notably, China is a very crucial market for Apple. They are Apple’s third largest market after the US and Europe. China accounted for 19% of Apple’s total revenue in the last quarter.

  • Apple Resumes Production Of iPhone X Due To Lower XS And XS Max Sales

Apple Resumes Production Of iPhone X Due To Lower XS And XS Max Sales

The iPhone X is Apple’s flagship  smartphone from last year. When the latest iPhone XS and XS Max started hitting stands after their launch this year, Apple quietly removed the iPhone XS from stores. This was done to ensure that all the focus is on the latest phones. However, in a turn of events, Apple has now resumed production of the iPhone X.
    iPhone XS

    The Reason

The move has been detailed in a report by The Wall Street Journal. According to their source, the move is due to a deal between Apple and Samsung with regard to the purchase of OLED screens. Apple had agreed to purchase a certain quantity of OLED screens from the company. However, the tech giant is finding it difficult to keep up with the sheer number of displays. This is due to a much lower than expected demand for the iPhone XS and XS Max.

Therefore, they are switching back to producing the iPhone X. The product is a cheaper alternative, for both Apple and for consumers. Since the iPhone X has lesser component and manufacturing equipment costs than the XS and XS Max, the costs that Apple will incur will be lesser. Additionally, it seems like a more feasible option as most of the consumers are more likely to purchase the iPhone X as well. This is a trend that has been seen over a period of time. People tend to purchase older variants of iPhones as they get cheaper. More and more people are buying the older iPhone 8 and 8 Plus over the iPhone XR because it is cheaper.

At the end of the day, sales do not look very bright for the latest lineup of iPhones. Analysts had already predicted lower sales for the iPhone XS and XS Max, even before the release of the phones. However, even the iPhone XR, which was expected to have a higher number of sales is seeing grim figures. Recently, Apple also announced that they will stop disclosing the sales figures of the iPhones as well.

  • Apple Admits That The iPhone X & 13 inch MacBook Pro Have Hardware Issues

Apple Admits That The iPhone X & 13 inch MacBook Pro Have Hardware Issues

Technology is evolving rapidly and companies are bound to update products every year to keep up with their competition. But, this fast-paced development can often lead to hardware issues which arise after the products have reached the customers. One such infamous case was the ‘exploding batteries’ on the Samsung  Galaxy Note 7. And recently, Apple has announced that the iPhone X and 13-inch MacBook Pro have some issues. This causes the hardware to fail or not respond for no apparent reason.

    The Issues
    Bezel-Less
    • The iPhone X’s screen or part of the screen randomly stops recognising the user’s touch. Sometimes, it even reacts when the user has not touched it.
    • The 13 inch MacBook Pro (non-touch bar) that was sold between June 2017 & June 2018 might have an issue that leads to hard disk failure or data loss.
    The Good

Apple has admitted to the issues with their products and is offering a free replacement to solve the issues. The users with eligible iPhone Xs can get a free screen replacement from Apple’s Authorised Service Providers or retail stores. Similarly, the MacBooks that face the disk failure issue can get a free service at an Apple retail store or an Authorised Service Provider. To check if your MacBook has such an issue, you can simply type the serial number on the company’s support page.

    The Bad

The iPhone X users have been complaining about the screen issue for almost a year now. And the company’s delayed response definitely made the customers suffer all this while. Also, Apple being one of the leaders in the tech industry, is not expected to ship products that have such issues.

  • Apple iPhone X Vs iPhone XS : What Has Changed?

Apple iPhone X Vs iPhone XS : What Has Changed?

After months of excitement, speculation and rumours, Apple revealed its new lineup of iPhones. The iPhone XS is the successor to the iPhone X. However, what has Apple really changed with the new iPhone?

The biggest difference and Apple’s only selling point is the A12 bionic chipset. The iPhone X has the A11 bionic, which was the pinnacle of speed when it launched, according to Apple. Apple has made an obvious upgrade to the chipset, with an improved manufacturing process. This makes the A12 faster, smoother and more energy efficient than the A11. The A12 also has advanced AI integration which improves battery and camera performance as well.

    iPhone Xs

Differences other than the chipset, cannot be defining factors for a new phone. The iPhone XS is water resistant up to 2 meters for up to 30 minutes, compared to the 1 metre for up to 30 minutes in the iPhone X. The iPhone XS has a 512 GB model as well, opposed to the 256 GB of the iPhone X. Additionally, the iPhone XS claims a battery life which is 30 minutes more than the iPhone X.

    Specifications iPhone X iPhone XS
    RAM  3 GB 4 GB
    Processor A11 Bionic A12 Bionic
Camera 12 MP Sensor 12 MP sensor + Bokeh Mode
    Storage 256 GB 512 GB
Battery 2716 mAh Lasts 30 Minutes more than iPhone X
    Connectivity Single SIM Dual SIM
    Protection IP67 IP68

Something which is a change however, is the fact that the new iPhone XS has dual SIM support. Other than this, the devices have the same design, the same camera setup and the same display.

With the iPhone XS starting in India at a price of Rs 99,999, this begs the question as to whether it is worth the upgrade. Apple, which has defined itself through constant, groundbreaking innovations seems to be limping forward on former glory and its belief that customers will purchase whatever is thrown at them. With rising competition in the global smartphone market, taking consumers for granted could prove risky for the tech giant.

  • Apple iPhone 9 : Everything We Know So Far

Apple iPhone 9 : Everything We Know So Far

It’s that time of the year again. One of the most anticipated events is right around the corner and yes we’re talking about the launch of the new iPhone. With numerous rumours, speculations and an equal number of eager fans, we take you through everything you need to know about the upcoming iPhone 9.

It has been rumoured for a very long time that Apple will introduce three new variants of the iPhone this year. Reports say that we will see a 5.8 inch screen device which will be the successor to the iPhone X. This will be supplemented by a 6.5 inch version of the same and a 6.1 inch model which is said to be the cheapest, owing to its lower specifications.

    Launch:

Starting with the iPhone 5, Apple has never broken tradition and strayed away from the date of 12th September. Other than the off-timed release of the iPhone SE, all the iPhones have been launched on this day. Therefore, we can expect Apple to launch the new iPhone 9 on 12th September this year as well.

    Name:

A lot of speculations regarding the nomenclature of the new iPhone are doing the rounds. With various analysts and experts putting out what they think will be the name, we think Apple might stick to calling it the iPhone 9. While many will argue that it could be called the iPhone 11, doing so might just add to the complexity. With naming it the iPhone 9, Apple can complete the numbers loop and move on to a much simpler system for nomenclature. The iPhone could then possibly drop the numbers and just be identified by the year it was launched in.

However, speculations do suggest other names such as the iPhone XS or the iPhone X2. Some analysts also suggest the name iPhone 11 and a possible successor to the iPhone SE.2018 Apple iPhone new iphone

    Design:

Reports suggest that the new iPhone 9 will be based on the design of the iPhone X. This means that Apple will be getting rid of Touch ID and embracing the Face ID technology completely. If this is true, Apple will implement the glass body, dual camera setup design along with the notch on the new iPhone 9.

Along with this, the iPhone 9 is expected to be available in various colours. Another interesting addition to this would be the fact that the aluminium frame in the lower variant will supposedly not be matching the colour of the glass body. Whatever, the rumours be, we expect to see a fresh array of colours on the iPhone 9.

    Display:

The iPhone 9 and its plus version will reportedly have OLED screens complete with a glass body and Stainless Steel casing. The lower variant of the upcoming iPhone 9 will have a slightly different design due to its price bracket, according to experts. It might be packing an LCD panel along with its Glass body which probably will be encased by Aluminium instead os Stainless Steel, helping to cut down on production cost. It is also very likely that the new iPhone 9 will not have Apple Pen Stylus support, according to sources.

    Via Hronika

    3D Touch

Analysts claim that Apple might discontinue the 3D Touch with the new iPhone 9. This might happen due to two reason; the added difficulty in the manufacturing process it causes and the fact that no one is actually finding it useful. This could be true as most iPhone users do not use 3D touch extensively and some do not even know of its existence.

    Touch ID

With the design of the iPhone X, the fingerprint scanner could have become outdated for Apple which might now bank on the Face ID feature for its security. However, latest reports talking about a Patent Apple has, might hint at it making a comeback. The patent refers to an in-display fingerprint scanner. This might be a game changer for Apple if it is ever introduced.

    Processor:

Reports say that the new iPhone 9 will operate using the A12 bionic chipset from Apple. The A12 will manage to offer a better experience than the existing, powerful A11 due to its manufacturing process. The A12 is reportedly made using the 7nm process as opposed to the A11’s 10nm process. This is expected to offer 1.6x the logic density along with a 20% speed improvement and 40% power reduction.

The A12 reportedly offers an increase in multi-core usability, supposed to bring up multi-core performance by 25-30%.  The GPU performance is reported to have an even higher increment at 40%. This might not directly translate to gaming performance, according to experts. Analysts predict a real time number of around 25%.

With some reports even suggesting that the iPhone 9 may run on the older A10 chipset, the possibilities are endless. However it is expected that Apple will run with something that will ensure the iPhones performance is far greater than any existing Android device.

    Battery:

The new iPhone 9 will supposedly have an improved battery, putting an end to any woes users had. The plus variant of the iPhone 9 might house the biggest battery of the three, owing to its size. Reports about the A12 chipset don’t stop at performance and tell us about the improved battery life as well. The new chipset is said to optimise battery life and ensure longevity. Apple is also said to have worked on increasing the idle battery life of the iPhone 9. The idle battery life is an impressive part of the present set of iPhones. An improvement with the iPhone 9 might just take things to the next level.

It is also rumoured that the new iPhone 9 might have a dual sim slot. This would be a welcome change for iPhone Users.

    Camera:

An improved camera experience with regard to the new iPhone 9 is highly anticipated. It is rumoured that the top variant of the iPhone 9 will sport a triple camera setup. This would possibly increase the rear zoom capability of the iPhone 9, according to reports. the triple camera setup could possibly offer other advantages such as better low light performance.

However, some say that this might not be coming with the iPhone 9, making us wait till 2019 for it. 2019 however might be the year for a triple camera setup if not this year. The three cameras would help in generating a depth map which could help Apple in the field of Augmented Reality, something Apple is really crazy about at the moment.

As of now, we have all sorts of combinations popping up when it comes to what we can expect. A triple camera setup for the top model, a single camera for the cheaper version or even a dual camera setup all three. The most common one however, is a dual camera setup for the iPhone 9 and the iPhone 9 Plus while the cheaper variant get a single camera. Regardless, it is safe to expect that we will see a big upgrade in the camera department. This is with regard to both software and hardware.

    Availability:

If you were planning to get yourself the cheaper variant of the iPhone 9, you might have to hold on for a little while. Well known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that the cheapest variant of the iPhone 9 might be available only in October, owing to delays in its production schedule. The other two variants will be available in September, according to him.

    Coming Full Circle:

The iPhone 9 will be crucial for Apple in all aspects. At a time when Apple is under threat from numerous manufacturers taking the smartphone market by storm, this will be a decisive product. Apple needs to ensure that it stays on top of the innovation race in this fast-tech driven world. Every month or so, we see a ground breaking smartphone emerge. Apple needs to ensure that the iPhone 9 will be competent enough to not only take on its current competition but stay relevant till 12th September 2019.

These Are The Three Variants of the New 2018 Apple iPhone

It was with the release of the Apple iPhone X in 2017, that the rumours about the next Apple iPhone began. While Apple reported record profit earnings, the company dipped to the third position as a smartphone seller behind Samsung and Huawei, with 20.9 & 15.8% respective market shares. It is an undeniable fact that overall smartphone sales have taken a hit and are relatively low in the last two years. This is also one of the reasons why HTC recently decided to quit the Indian market. However, as Apple’s September iPhone event approaches, more leaks emerge  for next generation devices from the company.

The leaked images showcase both the front and rear panels of these iPhones in black and white colour variants. The three alleged screen sizes are, 5.8-inch for the iPhone XI, 6.1-inch for the iPhone 9, and 6.5-inch for the iPhone XI Plus. It has become apparent from these images that the iPhone with 6.1-inch display also has a single camera, so, it’s safe to assume that this is the alleged more affordable 2018 iPhone 9.

    2018 iPhone

All three devices appear to have a notch, so it is safe to assume that even the cheaper iPhone 9 along with the 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch iPhones will have Face-ID. In the image it appears that the left most device will be iPhone XI and the right most will be the iPhone XI plus, both of which have a vertical dual camera. The middle one will have a single camera, may be dubbed the iPhone 9 and will be the most affordable of the 2018 iPhones. This naming system will also eliminate any confusion as Apple may continue to sell the iPhone X, hence in 2018 Apple iPhone 9, iPhone X and iPhone XI may be sold.

According to previous leaks, emerging markets like India and China could receive dual-SIM 2018 iPhone variants. These markets are also the key sales places for Apple and a dual-SIM iPhone could help improve the smartphone’s sales. Apple projected that it will bag even more profits in the fourth quarter of this. Since the company has been at the forefront of bringing feature-rich smartphones, albeit, at a hefty price, we look forward to see how the 2018 iPhone lineup performs. While there’s still a month before the new iPhones launch, you can go back to our Apple iPhone X vs Samsung Galaxy S8 Feat. Galaxy Note 8 video.

Apple iPhone 9 and X Plus Displays Leaked

It is an undeniable fact that Apple iPhones have had a great impact in shaping the future of smartphones. Despite lacking GPS and video recording capabilities, the 2007 released iPhone did fairly well in the market. However, iPhones started gaining their popularity even more after the launch of the iPhone 3G with GPS. The Apple iPhone has evolved ever since, and now is among the top selling smartphones. All the iPhone models starting from 2013’s iPhone 5s had a fingerprint sensor. Apple used the physical home button of the iPhones as the fingerprint sensor until the iPhone 7 came along. With the iPhone 7, Apple introduced its “taptic” home button which uses haptic feedback instead of a physical button to produce a button like feedback. In 2017, however, the company entirely got rid of the home button and fingerprint sensor on one of the models the “iPhone X” and introduced the Face-ID unlock mechanism. Now new 2018 iPhone lineup is about to launch in September. The recent leaks for the smartphones are images of two display panels and the rear panels.

    New 2018 iPhone

It becomes apparent from these images, the new 2018 iPhone lineup does not have any significant design changes. Also, the image of the rear panel of these iPhones reveals a single rear-mounted camera for the device with 6.1-inch LCD display. We can assume that this will be the cheaper 2018 iPhone. The 2017 iPhone X had a stainless steel frame so we expect the 2018 models to have a steel frame as well. However, the rumours also suggest that the iPhone with a 6.1-inch display will use an aluminium frame. An aluminium frame will help keep the cost of manufacturing the iPhone down, further providing evidence for a cheaper 2018 iPhone 9.

The images tweeted by the tipster Ben Geskin, suggest that the new 2018 iPhone with 6.1-inch display will have thicker bezels. As compared to the alleged iPhone X Plus which will have relatively slimmer bezels. Apple’s biggest competition during launch the Galaxy Note 9 is rumoured to have the “best” slow-motion recording camera @960fps. It will be interesting to see how the new iPhone cameras will perform against Samsung’s new offering.

Apple iPhone Front Panels Leaked Images Reveal Thin Bezels

Launched on the 3rd of November 2017, the iPhone X has definitely brought some nifty features to the table. To name one, FaceID is by far the most secure unlocking mechanism in a smartphone. Which is why Apple was confident enough to skip out on the fingerprint sensor on the iPhone X. The decision to do away with the fingerprint sensor has probably set another trend after the notch-display. The Oppo Find X is among the first Android smartphones to embrace this concept. The 2018 Apple iPhone lineup has been hit with leaks and speculations for quite a while now. The recent leak shows three front panels, which we assume are for the three variants of the device.

Taking the image as a reference, it is safe to say that Apple will release the three Apple iPhone variants this year. This keeps up with the rumour of there being two flagship devices, a 2018 iPhone X and an iPhone X Plus. The third device could be the “cheaper” iPhone.

The 2017 iPhone X had a 5.8-inch 2436 x 1125 px OLED True Tone Super Retina display with minimal bezels around it. Out of the box, the device ran on iOS 11. The iPhone X was powered by a 3,000 mAh battery which charges Apple’s lightning port. We suspect that the new iPhones will have a similar setup, with the exception of the “cheaper” iPhone.

Since Apple was big on AI last year, we think that the trend will continue in 2018 as well. The last year’s device featured the Apple A11 Bionic chipset with a neural engine. The camera setup may also see improved specifications.

The massive event in September will definitely be one of the most exciting updates for Apple fans this year. If the rumours turn out to be true, then it will be interesting to see what segment the cheaper 2018 iPhone variant will be priced at. We will keep an eye out for all the necessary updates, so stay tuned to iGyaan and comment below and let us know what you think about this latest leak.

Tesla iPhone X Has A Solar Battery And Costs US$ 4590

The Apple iPhone X was launched in September 2017 with a price tag of US$ 999 (excluding taxes). While the iPhone X is the priciest iPhone ever made by Apple, it is barely the priciest smartphone in the world. Special edition Porsche smartphones from Huawei are extremely pricey and so are custom made devices. One such custom-made iPhone X is the Tesla iPhone X which costs a mind-boggling US$ 4590 (Rs 3,13,000 approx.). For context, the iPhone X 256GB is priced at Rs 1,02,000 in India.

The Tesla iPhone X is no ordinary iPhone by any means. Russian phone accessory maker Caviar is known for making over the top, highly expensive phone cases. The Tesla iPhone X, however, is not a phone case. It’s a phone case pre-attached to an iPhone X. The Tesla moniker is dedicated to Elon Musk for its contribution to the industry of sustainable energy.

The development in the sphere of creating solar batteries, smart homes, equipped with such batteries and vehicles working on the electricity, is actively carried out by Elon Musk today – the main mastermind of the Tesla Company; in honour of his great innovative developments, the new Caviar phone was named.

Other than Elon Musk, there is a reason why Caviar decided to name it Tesla and not some other brand. The Tesla iPhone X has a solar battery that transforms the light energy and replenishes the phone battery power with its help. According to the Caviar website, “This phone gets power literally from the air! This is the purest energy, for getting which no expenses are needed.”

The Tesla iPhone X will be available in a black colour variant with a shock resistant case. The overall black colour has gold accents on the smartphone which give it a different look than many other smartphones. According to Business Insider, the first Tesla iPhone X will be be sent to Elon Musk.

LG Claims It Did Not Copy Apple iPhone X’s Notch

The Essential Ph-1 was technically the first smartphone to have a notch on the display. It was a tiny cutout on the top for the front-camera which made it look like a cyborg’s eye. However, the notch was made famous by the iPhone X which was launched in September 2017. Ever since the iPhone X was launched, we have seen more Android OEMs have embraced the notch with devices like the Huawei P20 Pro, Asus Zenfone 5Z. The latest to join the list is the LG G7 ThinQ.

LG, however, claims that it did not imitate the iPhone X. Hwang Jeong-hwan, chief of LG’s mobile division in an interview said:

We planned the notch design before Apple. The display design may look similar to that of other smartphones, but boasts differentiated features.

The LG G7 ThinQ is not the last smartphone to sport a notch, though. The OnePlus 6, scheduled for a May 16th launch will also have an iPhone X-like notch. Google has also recognised the growing popularity of the notch and decided to introduce a feature in the first developer’s preview of Android P. We expect Android P to have better support for this design and more apps will be acclimatised with various kinds of notches in the near future.

The LG G7 ThinQ was launched on the 2nd of May and is expected to launch in India on the 25th of May for a price of Rs 54999. It has a has a 6.1 inch IPS LCD display with a 3120 x 1440 px resolution. The device has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio which will come in handy when the user decides to hide the notch.

Under the hood, the smartphone runs on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The storage will be expandable via a microSD card. Powering the G7 ThinQ is a 3000 mAh battery with QuickCharge 4.0 and wireless charging. The G7 ThinQ+ will have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.

The power button now sits on the right side of the device in a more conventional position. Interestingly, there is a Google Assistant button placed below the volume rockers on the left side. The button is not remappable right now and can only be disabled if a user is not a fan of the Google Assistant.
