Huawei announced the Huawei P9 at an event held in London. The handset features a new dual camera setup at the back, which has Leica’s lenses.

The P9 is the smaller one, with a design footprint the size of an iPhone 6s a 5.2-inch display and 1080p resolution. The P9 runs on the Kirin 955 chipset with an octa-core CPU  set at 2.5GHz for the quad-Cortex-A72 cluster and 1.8GHz for the quad-Cortex-A53.

Design wise the P9 is identical to the Nexus 69 with an all aluminum shell and a rear fingerprint scanner. The P9 has a 3000 mAh battery and is equipped with a USB type C charging port.

After skipping the temptation of a more fashionable launch at the Mobile World Congress last month, Huawei, as it stands, has made its mind up to finally unveil to eager fans its flagship phone, the P9 on 6th April at an event in London.

The Chinese company in its press invite for the event has claimed that it will “Change the Way You See the World”. This can be interpreted as an apparent reference to what is much-anticipated camera setup on the upcoming P9 which Huawei has developed in partnership with Leica.

For the past few weeks, we’ve been hearing quite a few rumours and have been witness to leaked images of Huawei’s upcoming flagship P9 smartphone. The successor to the P8 will look to create a space between big flagship devices like the Galaxy S7 and the Mi 5. It was earlier rumoured that the Huawei P9 will be launched on March 9, but it seems that the launch date is more in line with popular tipster Evan Blass’s speculated April launch.

Huawei has been in the news off late. Earlier in the day we saw leaked images of the Huawei P9 surface online indicating a launch in the near future was imminent, and now, Huawei has added fuel to the fire by teasing fans worldwide with an event invite today.

The Chinese phone maker posted an invite for an upcoming March 9 event in Berlin, Germany. The invite image features “BEER” in bold which could be a hint at celebrations at the launch of a new phone, possibly the P9 range of phones.The company is expected to launch four phones, the P9 lite, P9 Max, and an enhanced version of the P9. It was speculated that Huawei would be unveiling its new flagship P9 at the MWC last week but that didn’t happen. Perhaps Huawei wasn’t ready with its device yet or is saving it for a solo event later on. Last weel, some rumours emerged that the P9 would sport a metal frame and a dual camera setup. Now, we have some leaked images of said metal frame that reveal a few more details.

The alleged P9 metal frame confirms that the device will sport a dual camera setup at the back and also reveals a USB Type-C port as well. You can also notice a cutout for a fingerprint scanner on the back.

Samsung and LG are not going to be the only brands at the MWC 2016 next week who will get to show off their flagship devices. If rumours are to be believed, Huawei will also be present at the event and will be unveiling the Huawei P9. For the past couple of days the crowded corridors of social media have been abuzz with leaks, and news about Huawei’s next flagship, the P9, and adding to it, more information has surfaced on the internet regarding this phone.

CES saw a lot of big companies show off their new phones, and upcoming projects, but Huawei, the thirld largest phone maker in the world in terms of sales volumes, revealed nothing, leaving its fans guessing what the company has in works for them. But worry no more, new leaks suggest that all the suspense, and the wait was worth it.
