The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is the first Xiaomi smartphone to support Face Unlock. Similarly, the company is testing this feature for the Mi MIX 2 and the Mi 6 on the beta version. In fact, users can install the Global beta ROM to test this feature. However, as the ROM is in beta stage, it might not be suitable for a primary device.

At the launch event of the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite, the company also announced a list of smartphones that will receive an update to MIUI 9 in the coming months. While Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 was one of the first devices to receive the update, the Xiaomi Mi 6 has now joined the list of smartphones as well. Xiaomi may have plans of rebooting its 2017 flagship, the Mi 6. Spotted on the certification website, TENNA, a Mi 6 with 4GB RAM and 65GB onboard storage might be launched on the 11th of November. In April 2017, the Mi 6 with 6GB RAM/64GB storage and 6GB RAM/128GB storage were launched. A cheaper variant of the flagship could now make its way to the Chinese market in November.

The price is expected to be at 2299 Yuan (Rs 22700 approx.) which is about 200 Yuan cheaper than the standard variant. Xiaomi is sending out press invites for its scheduled event on 5 September in New Delhi, India, where the company is expected to launch its ‘flagship dual camera’ smartphone. Xiaomi’s media invite states “Join us for the launch of our first dual camera smartphone in India”. We are still unsure whether the Mi 6 or Mi 5X are to be launched.

The event invite image sported a dual camera, suggesting, that one of the sensors will come with a larger aperture than the other.

Both the dual camera smartphones have already been launched in China. Therefore, in terms of specifications and features, not much is left for speculations.

Xiaomi recently launched the Mi 6 at their event in China as the company announced plans to hit global markets soon. Xiaomi is hard at work in prepping it’s next Android flagship to be launched around MWC. The Xiaomi Mi 6 much like the Mi 5 will feature an under clocked chipset. Samsung is partially responsible for the lack of 835 chipsets for manufacturers. Samsung has placed a big order for the first lot of Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipsets making it difficult for companies to keep up. The Snapdragon 835 will not be available to LG and HTC according to a new reports. LG will use the dated Snapdragon 821 and while HTC will delay the launch of the next HTC flagship in order to get sufficient supply of the 835 chipset.
