The mid-range Moto X Play has finally arrived in India. Like other Motorola smartphones before, the X Play will be available exclusively on Flipkart starting at Rs 18,499. The Moto range for 2015 includes two variants, the Moto X Play and the Moto X Style which is scheduled to come out later this month.

While the X Style will focus on design, the X Play is built for experience. The Moto X Play will have a 21-megapixel primary camera with dual-LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front camera. The rear camera will have an auto-HDR mode, which means the camera will automatically adapt to the conditions so you won’t have to spend time adjusting the settings manually. The phone will come with a standard HD quality video with 1080p at 30fps.

What the Moto X Play boasts of is its 3630 mAh battery, which will give you plenty of juice between charges. Both the Moto X Play and the X Style will have a microSD slot expandable up to 128 GB. This is welcomed as many smartphones today refuse to come with an SD slot. Other features include a 5.5 inch screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, Snapdragon 615, and an Octa-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU.

In terms of value for money, we think the Moto X Play packs in a lot. The camera and battery life are its main attraction and is a good choice for those who like to play a lot of games on the go and still expect to have enough battery life for the rest of the day.

The design of the X Play is pretty solid with a textured back that has a rubbery finish, which feels comfortable in your hand. The back panel can be swapped for a different coloured one depending on your mood that day. The feisty phone will be available on Flipkart from midnight onwards so the wait isn’t long either.

Watch out for the Moto X Play hands on video and more information about it, today.

  • Sriram Sunwalker

Buy moto x 2nd generation. If you are coming from moto x 1st gen ,you won’t mind lack of sd card and dual sim..Just now I ordered moto x 2nd gen after using moto x 1st gen for a year.

Regarding Cores, there are a lot of forums available in the internet discussing these issues as in when and why you need them.
Unless, its the Exynos SoC (by Samsung) Or the A9 (Apple SoC manufactured by TSMC, Taiwan),,,1 will certainly be needing More Cores based on Hyper-Threading, Count. Bigger Smartphones need better Multi-Tasking.
Therefore, i just gave my speculation & point of view. I am certainly not promoting any brand, nor discouraging anyone to not buy this product. It is upto the user. I am simply unable to change the ideology, mindset.
I’m sure you guys understand, that point-of-view may differ from person-2-person.

  • Debashish Pramanik

Abhay Kumar, its not the battery capacity i am referring to…its the usage dependability!
Haerschil Yadav, If you must know, 2 mths back when i wanted to buy a smartphone for myself…i had quite many Octa-Core SoC options present like Xiaomi Mi4i, Lenovo A6000, A7000, recently launched K3Note, Huawei Honor 4C, Honor 4X etc.
But, i simply went for the Intel Quad-Core based ASUS Zenfone 2.

  • Rushyang Darji

Mihir Patel, you may want to consider this one instead.

  • Miguel Furtado

How much do you think they’ll price the moto x style in India?

  • Dhiraj Arora

    Is this stock android**?

  • Sushant Bhatia

iGyaan.in I have been using Moto X 1s gen since past 16 months and have loved it. Is Moto X play a worthy upgrade to my 1st gen X?

  • Dhiraj Arora

    Is this is stock android?

  • Prithvi Raj Chauhan

Extra cores don’t mean excellent performance. Like Abhay said, you won’t get a phone with a 21MP camera, 3600+ mAh battery, 5.5″ fullHD screen.

  • Abhay Kumar

So you r comparing everything n then then came on same conclusion
    That 13= 21mp
    2000mah = 3500mah
Comparing Chinese gionee or meizu to Motorola
Its first time I know that a mobile come with 4000 mah needs charge 2-3 times lol
    Clap for this guy

  • ramakrishnach21

4K recording is available in Moto Play or only in Moto Style ?

  • KaushikTotonBanerjee

IndrajeetKamble yes of course, but it is a mid range device and 2GB was pretty much high end spec last year. For a stock android device like Moto, 2 GB is good enough, Samsung’s Note 5 has 4gb ram but the touchwiz interface takes up 2gb, so you anyways get 2gb. Moto devices are brilliantly optimized…

  • IndrajeetKamble

    ram could have been 3GB

  • KaushikTotonBanerjee

octacore* plus two additional single cores

  • Haerschil Yadav

Go buy yourself a cheap “chinese ” octa core phone….

  • sandeepsharan80

igyaan I am More expectations from camera of this phone so you fast camera review of this phone

  • KaushikTotonBanerjee

AvneetSidana vivekmadhu igyaan that will be 32gb version. MX Style comes in 64gb

  • KaushikTotonBanerjee

It is actually 10 cores, the base is hexacore and everyone is forgetting two additional cores on  the Motorola chip.

  • KaushikTotonBanerjee

AvneetSidana igyaan coz there is no 64gb model of MXPlay

  • AvneetSidana

igyaan 19999 is the price for 32gb probably. No word on 64gb.

  • vivekmadhu

igyaan 18499 is the price for 16gb

  • RiTinkar RiTz

Planning 2 compete with one +1 …..both price r same

  • AvneetSidana

vivekmadhu igyaan 64gb is priced at 19999, I guess. Great pricing, according to me.

  • Abhay Kumar

    So
Name a mobile which comes with 21mp
    3600mah
    5.5inch display
    Under 18k
And against ur comment under 13k
    Name it !!

  • srprashant91

igyaan little om the expensive side. Was expecting around 15-17k

  • Debashish Pramanik

Given the current mkt conditions & scanario, Moto still wants to play like Samsung used to do…by offering Quad-Core in the 18K price bracket, when Octa-Core devices are quite easily available in the sub-13K price range!

  • KaushikTotonBanerjee

wish they gave more details on MX Style but the feed went off!

  • KaushikTotonBanerjee

vivekmadhu igyaan there is no 64bg mxp

  • Abhi_4783

    igyaan price for 32GB model?

  • vivekmadhu

    igyaan what about 64gb price???

  • Anchal Dhiman

wow…I will buy it now..!! :)
