As previously mentioned, the Redmi Y3 has an all new design with a large screen display on the front and an attractive Aura Prism panel on the rear. The smartphone measures 158.5 x 76.43 x 8.47 mm and it tips the scale at 180 grams. It features a 2.5d 6.26 inch display that has a resolution of 1520 x 720 px. The display panel has a 19:9 aspect ratio and is covered with Corning Gorilla 5 to safeguard it against scratches and accidental drops.

Like the Note 7 and Note 7 Pro, the Redmi Y3 also has a dot notch on the top of the display which houses the smartphone’s key highlighting feature, the 32 MP selfie camera. In a segment first, the device also supports EIS (Electronic Image Stabilisation) which helps in capturing better handheld shots. The front camera also supports Auto HDR and AI portrait mode which can artificially beautify selfies. Another new feature that the Y3 introduces is a ‘Palm shutter’ which as the name suggests can be used as a trigger to control the camera shutter.

Under the hood, the Redmi Y3 packs the Snapdragon 632 SoC which consists of the Adreno 506 GPU and Kryo 250 Octa Core CPU. The smartphone is powered by a large 4,000 mAh battery and runs on MIUI 10 which is based on Android 9 Pie. Notably, it also has the hydrophobic P2i nano coating which will allow the device to survive accidental liquid spillage or unexpected drizzles.

Connectivity options on the Redmi Y3 include Dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, 3.5 mm audio jack and bottom mounted Micro USB port.
