For biometrics and securely unlocking the handset, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner is present on the device along with support for face unlock technology.

Under the hood, the Redmi 7 is kitted with the Snapdragon 632 SoC which is manufactured using the 14nm fabrication process. The chipset consists of an Octa-core CPU and the Adreno 506 GPU. In terms of optics, the smartphone has a dual rear camera setup comprising of an f/2.2 aperture equipped 12 MP sensor and a 2 MP depth sensor. For selfies, an 8 MP camera is housed in the notch on top of the display. The smartphone will be available in the following memory variants.
