Micromax has let out yet another sensation into the market, or has it? Micromax today announced the new Micromax Canvas 4 A210, a double jump in model number but no real jump in specs. The phone is priced at Rs. 17990 and is available to purchase today.

Micromax Canvas 4 A210 12

Initial Impressions

At the first glance the phone will remind you of each and every Canvas phone you have seen till date, plastic design and glass front and the Micromax Canvas 4 A210 is no different. The built quality is much improved over the previous edition Canvases but it is identical to many a smartphone already in the market. The bezel reminds you of a an iPhone with a stainless steel finish where the back panel is very Samsung.

Micromax Canvas 4 A210 7

Micromax has kept exactly the same specs of the Canvas HD with the Micromax Canvas 4 A210 and only bumped up the camera on the back and the front. The Blow to unlock feature, comes via an app and is very gimmicky and should cause a lot of problem for people. The interface is stock apart from a lot of Micromax bloatware and the performance seems shabby at first.

The cameras did not boot up on the device we were shown so we were unable to check them out, but the camera app is the standard camera app. The Micromax Canvas 4 A210 is the company’s attempt at making a device which focuses on build quality vs the hardware, and it seems to most this will be a disappointment. The company is also promising good service and easy replacements for the devices, which can only be seen in the time to come.

The camera upgrade and design are not the only changes, Micromax has also reduced the battery to a 2000 mAh battery which may end up resulting in lower battery life. Has Micromax built up this phone too much pre launch to the extent that users got really excited? Is the Micromax Canvas 4 A210 overpriced? While we search for the answers check out the images and stay tuned for a hands on Video.

i like the 5.5” full hd with 401ppi even though its a bigger device to call? as a mobile and also the 1.7 Ghz quad core make it a quite powerfull, i hope the price will come down in the upcoming weak /.

Micromax has hugely disappointed me with this new launch as the hype & expectations were sky high and they haven’t risen an inch from A116. The new so called features are just gimmicks to increase the price. I did expect a full HD display, a better GPU, 2GB RAM, and a better improved battery. I CANCELLED my pre order and is waiting for iberry Nuclea N1. Do give us a good review of the same please…

The design of canvas 4 is beautiful and the device looks premium like other high end devices btu the main issue is that mmx had packed the same specs of canvas HD  and it is priced high people would rather like to buy around 15k – 16k

Micromax, please name this device CanvasHD+ OR A116+. If I had made a pre-order, I’d cancel it for sure.

    Not sure if
article is correct. however, this should have been MMX A210.

Was expecting hike in RAM, Processor and battery but MMX disappointed. Price and some features are good and still its worthwhile to buy a phone for 18000 bugs having so much features and look.

I think this phone is awesome i would rather buy two of these in a  year than buy one of htc or samsung or another so-called “BRANDED” phone why? u ask … because this phone is perfect in terms of price and processing power moreover none of us is going to require hardcore processing power unless u are a dev, heck even the devs would love such a cheap phone they can keep on experimenting (overclocking, moding) on such a cheap and powerful device without burning thier pockets and rather burning the processing chips ;)

    • livefyre123
      July 9, 2013 at 1:42 am

Balthazarx – Dude, the problem here is that its predecessor A116 has the same specifications. and 6K cheaper. Ofcourse this phone is cool one, just that we did not get what it could have been.

    What Killed CANVAS 4:
    1. BIGGEST Killer is the Battery @ 2000 mah
which will suck big time, battery life will be even less than A116
because of  gimmicky stuff that eats a lot of
battery like some idiotic gestures, blow to unlock…lol. Whats the
use?, its a cellphone and people need BATTERY POWER!
    2. Same idiotic GPS which will take 10 minutes for a GPS Fix.
    3. No Magnetic sensor! Come on, without a magnetic sensor a mobile device is DIRECTIONLESS!
Same CPU & Chipset @ 1.2 GHZ and Same GPU, which is already behind
the competitors in the market, it will be completely outdated just 1
month down the line when CANVAS 4 will actually be commonly available
and other competitors will be all out with their arsenal!
    5. Same cheap in-call quality and low sound output from speakers in loud conditions.
    6. It has 5 inch screen, whereas 5.5 was expected, the standard is shifting to 5.5 as the ideal screen size.
RAM – BIGGEST disappointment! At this price range and so much hype and
hoopla, 2GB was least expected, you just gave 1 GB which is thing of the
past now, how will you compete?
    8.  Its not a FULL HD, its just 720p and not 1080p screen!
    9. And finally a nail in the coffin
is the price! 18000 for this is quite high. Genuine price should be
15000 not a single rupee more than that.
For me the BIGGEST killer is the BATTERY, old specs and PRICE

      July 9, 2013 at 3:01 pm

mmx4u  you are absolutely true. We were counting on the phone. But hard time disappointment. MMX u need not launch this cell in market. Coz it will be outdated in another month. If Nexus 5 with android 5.0 is released then u r no where in the market.

  • vijayshimla
    July 8, 2013 at 6:43 pm

Over hyped and over priced– will be OK buy once it settles down to its natural  level i.e. 13k–which it will in 2 months.I still have doubts about a 2000 mAh, battery being able to run aa Android Phone over the entire day..anyways the micromax owners can carry a charger in their pocket for use by 5 PM.

    • mmx4u
      July 8, 2013 at 7:11 pm

vijayshimla Life CAN be endless with 2000 mAh battery! as the phone would die soon, then one will get lot of free time to spend with family and friends, can enjoy real life to the maximum :)

Disappointing is how I would describe the Canvas4.
They could have at-least upgraded RAM to 2GB, to separate this device from Canvas HD.
Price hike should have been as much as 17,999.
Another feature I looked was upgraded processor.
16 GB in-built memory,, Camera Upgrade & Bezel are the +ves.
Hope they would be soon launching the Canvas 4 PLUS to avoid the customer disaapointment.
    ***** Cancelling my Pre-Booking *****

Just a change in camera and internal memory is not a justified reason to price it at 17999/- Canvas HD looks more affordable and reasonable than this.
