Apple launched the iPhone SE back in the year 2016. The smartphone quickly became one of the best compact devices of its time. Apple has been long awaited to launch its successor which has not yet happened. Pleasingly, a new report claims Apple may finally launch its successor, allegedly called the iPhone XE later this year. Noteworthy, the smartphone may be produced by Wistron, which has massive production plants in India.
iPhone XE
Sources claim the iPhone XE will have a similar design to the original iPhone SE, which suggests an aluminium back. Since metal doesn’t let current pass through the induction method; the possibility of the device supporting wireless charging is ruled out. Reports claim the smartphone will feature a 4.8 inch OLED display with a wide notch and minimal bezels. The notch will feature the components used for FaceID, Apple’s signature biometrics security technology. This suggests the handset will ditch the TouchID in favour of FaceID in comparison to its predecessor.
The reports further claim that the iPhone XE will run on the current 7nm Apple A12 Bionic SoC. This processor is also present on the iPhone XS, XS Max and the iPhone XR. In terms of optics, a single rear camera is expected. This may an f/1.8 aperture equipped 12MP sensor last seen in the iPhone XR. For selfies, a 7MP camera is expected to be housed in the notch on top of the display. Although the report of a smaller iPhone has been rife for quite some time, there has been no announcement from Apple. It may be the case that the Cupertino giant may surprise everyone by launching the aforementioned smartphone.
The reports claim the iPhone XE might launch in the third quarter of this year. The price of the smartphone is expected to start at around US$ 600 (Rs. 41,400).
As per a report, Apple is facing strained relationships with the American chipmaker Intel, due to which it is ramping up its in-house modem production for its future 5G smartphones, which may make their way into the market by the year 2021. Now, It appears that Apple has lost its confidence in Intel’s ability to deliver the promised 5G modems by 2020.
About The Intel-Apple Partnership
Reports state that 1000 to 2000 Qualcomm and Intel engineers are working on the aforementioned chips and modems, which will be used in future iPhones. However, Intel has reportedly missed out on deadlines for the production and development of the XMM 8160 5G modem. While Apple is unsatisfied with Intel’s results, Intel reverted by saying that Apple is a demanding client and that it is very conflicted with Apple regarding the partnership.
Additionally, Intel also claims that it has lowered its margins drastically in light of the partnership, and at the same time, the company has to treat Apple as its number one priority. The internal conflict between the two companies may take a more serious turn, with Intel focusing on more profitable businesses in other categories. Even though doing so might be a breach of contract, Intel may start taking a practical oversight of the situation, which might harm relations between both the companies.
Consequently, Apple is in a twist regarding the 5G modem production. Companies like Samsung and MediaTek will be unable to supply 5G modems for the iPhones by at least 2020, reports say. As reported previously, Apple has been in a legal fallout with chipset manufacturer, Qualcomm, so the prospects of Apple and Qualcomm working together for a long period of time may be very weak. Nonetheless, Apple is known for treating its customers with the utmost priority, so the American multinational technology company may have something up its sleeve in order to speed up the rollout of 5G iPhones in the near future.

After much speculations and leaks, Apple’s Beats division, known for creating premium audio products has launched the Powerbeats Pro true wireless earbuds. The device is the first pair of true wireless earphones from the company. Interestingly, the earbuds will compete with the newest AirPods, which also belongs to Apple. The latest true wireless earbuds from Beats, the Powerbeats Pro are the wire-free variant of the company’s Powerbeats 3 wireless earphones. The company claims the latest earbuds are an upgrade over its predecessor in terms of sound and connectivity.
Beats Powerbeats Pro
The Beats Powerbeats Pro feature adjustable, secure fit ear hooks on each earbud and have Class 1 Bluetooth for faster connection speed and a longer range. Furthermore, the company claims that a 5-minute charge is enough for a 1.5 hour listening time on the device. Notably, sensors on each earbud are capable of detecting when they’re taken out of one’s ears and automatically pause the music when done so. The music resumes playing when they’re plugged back inside the ear. Unfortunately, there is no support for wireless charging, which was freshly added on the new AirPods.

In an era where innovations are happening faster than any of us can fathom, Oppo is trying out an entirely different concept for its future smartphones. While this may initially seem non-significant to some people, Oppo might have something special in store here. The Chinese technology company has patented two mobile phone models, and no, they are not any sort of foldable devices.
About The Patent
WIPO (World Intelectual Property Organization) published the patent on January 29, 2019. The patent originated from Guangdong Oppo Mobile Telecommunications, and it contained information regarding an “Electronic Device with a display panel”. The company that introduced one of the first pop-up camera modules in the market has now patented two new designs, one of which is a pop-up display design. That is right, the smartphone has a second display that pops out of the primary display. It may seem like an idea that no one has thought of previously, but Oppo has already put it on paper. And the design may have some really helpful functionalities.
Pop-Up Display Smartphone
The first design is that of a pop-up display, and it is very similar to a pop-up camera’s mechanism, except the fact that instead of a camera, a screen pops out. Obviously, the second display is much slimmer and narrower than the main display of the device, and for the same reason, it has almost one-third the height of the primary display. Seemingly, a telescopic mechanism helps the second narrower display to pop out of the device. Where some people may argue that it is a useless feature, it may actually be beneficial for those who multitask a lot and use the keyboard in the portrait mode.
Side-Sliding Display Smartphone
The second design is also aesthetically pleasing. As per images, the screen does not pop up from the top, instead, a second screen slides towards the left using a guide rail mechanism. This design may remind a lot of users of the HTC Desire Z device, which was released in September 2010, almost a decade ago. The design was very convenient for people who were used to conventional QWERTY typing at that time. Now, when QWERTY keyboards are literally the standard, slider phones may make a comeback soon, albeit without the physical buttons.
Both the patented designs house the camera module and the earpiece in the top bezel, which is seemingly very narrow. The notchless design seen in the patent images is very pleasing to look at. Furthermore, Oppo is also planning to unveil its Reno Series of smartphones in April 2019. It is interesting to see how Oppo is targeting premium mid-range devices with smartphones that have innovative and impressive features.
Motorola launched the last smartphone in the Moto X series, the Moto X4 back in the year 2017. Since then, there were reports the company is pushing the lineup off the edge and will focus on the Moto Zseries. Fresh leaks of an unknown Motorola device with an all-new design have leaked online. It is speculated that this smartphone is the next handset in the Moto X lineup and might be called the Moto X5.
Design & Features
The unknown smartphone from Motorola, as mentioned above, will sport a new design from the company. Renders reveal the device will have a glass sandwich design with a brushed accent on the back. Sources claim it will have a 6.2-inch AMOLED display with a FullHD+ resolution. Like the Moto G7, it is a waterdrop notch and a Motorola branding on the chin. For biometrics and security, the handset will have an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The leaked renders reveal that the smartphone will have a quad-rear camera setup, a first for Motorola. While the details about the optics aren’t known, the images reveal one of the sensors will be a 48MP one. A single front-facing camera will also be housed in the waterdrop notch on top of the display. To accommodate the lenses, there is a hefty camera bump on the back of the smartphone. While details about the processor inside the device are unclear, it is expected to run on the 7nm Snapdragon 855 SoC as it will be a flagship smartphone.
The renders also reveal that the upcoming Motorola flagship smartphone will retain a headphone jack and use a USB Type-C port for charging and data syncing. For sound output, the company has surprisingly provided the speaker grille on the top of the device. While the company hasn’t made any announcements regarding the handset, it is expected to be made official in a few weeks.
Samsung has been on a smartphone launching frenzy in the year 2019, as it has unveiled some really competitive handsets in the market so far. The Korean Technology company is planning to release yet another premium mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy A90 which is expected to launch at an event in April. A trademark filing which was spotted at EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) reveals that the smartphone may have the “Triple Intellicam” feature, which will drastically change how lighting conditions affect photographs.
What Is Intellicam?
“Intellicam” was a term that was first associated with the Galaxy A8 Star, which was released in June 2018. The A8 Star was the first Galaxy device that had a “Dual Intellicam”, which automatically adapted its settings as per the lighting conditions, enabling the user to capture well-lit images. Consequently, the “Triple Intellicam” is expected to function on the same lines of the “Dual Intellicam” with enhanced capabilities.
Samsung has always been innovative from the perspective of smartphone cameras, and the company is not looking to disappoint here. “Triple Intellicam” may use AI optimization to capture images in low light and very high light, just like Scene Optimizer in Samsung’s high-end devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S10. Furthermore, the company is also expected to incorporate a pop-up camera in the upcoming device.
Expected Specifications And Availability
The Galaxy A90 is speculated to be the first phone from the company without any punch hole cutout or a notch of any sorts. Moreover, this may lead to a bezel-free screen on the smartphone, and taking into account the aforementioned pop-up camera, this may actually be a stark reality. The Galaxy A90 is expected to sport an 11 nm based Snapdragon 7150 SoC, and even though very little is known about the chipset itself, it will provide enhanced support for AI, gaming and camera.
Under the hood, the Galaxy A90 is speculated to pack 8GB of RAM and 256GB of Internal Storage for the top variant. Other rumoured features include a 48MP primary camera with an ultrawide sensor and telephoto lens. Additionally, the A90 may have a 32MP front camera. Moreover, the device may have support for 25W fast charging. The device is expected to be priced in the sub 30k segment, and as mentioned before, it will be unveiled in April 2019.

Similar to their Chinese competitors, these handsets offer competitive specifications at a lucrative price. Fresh leaks have revealed a new smartphone in the Galaxy A lineup. Called the Galaxy A20e, it was spotted when it got certified through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Galaxy A20e
The Samsung Galaxy A20e has been leaked countless times over the last few weeks. It will sit between the Galaxy A10 and the Galaxy A20. For biometrics and security, the device will have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor with support for face unlock technology. When Google first announced Duplex in the year 2018, it created ripples amongst its fans and consumers. The service was announced to ease up things that usually eat up a huge chunk of time. But when Google announced that the feature will be exclusive to Pixel devices, the fanfare died a bit. The technology is directed towards completing specific tasks, such as scheduling certain types of appointments, and quite naturally, a lot of concerns surrounded Google Duplex. Now, as per reports, the feature is making its way to non-Pixel devices as well.
What Is Google Duplex?
Google Duplex is basically a part of the Google Assistant, and it can facilitate users to save some time from their schedules. For instance, if a user wants to book an appointment at a salon for the next day, he/she can just tell Google Assistant to do the same. After confirming all the details, the assistant will ring up the salon and have a normal, “human-sounding” conversation with the authority in charge and book an appointment for the user.
When Pixel 3 was first launched, the Duplex service was available only for limited people and could only be availed in four select cities. However, in the month of March 2019, the company announced that Duplex will be available in 47 states. Moreover, Google also stated that Duplex will be rolled out to other Android and iOS devices as well. Sources report that Google Duplex is already rolling out to other devices such as the Galaxy S10+.
This may be an indication that Google wants its functionality to be extended to a wide variety of devices for the sole reason of getting Duplex the attention it deserves. The service has already proven its worth when it came to making quick reservations and appointments. Although an integration like this won’t be very viable in India as of now, users can expect Google to work something out in the upcoming years.
HMD Global owned Nokia Mobile freshly launched the Nokia X71 in Taiwan. While the smartphone was speculated to be launched as the Nokia 8.1 Plus globally, the latest leaks suggest otherwise. A website has revealed the design of the alleged Nokia 8.1 Plus which suggests a disparate smartphone from the X71 in terms of design. As the name suggests, the upcoming smartphone will be the successor to the Nokia 8.1 which was launched last year.
Nokia 8.1 Plus
The Nokia 8.1 Plus has been leaked on multiple occasions in the form of renders, user manuals and finally on Chinese regulatory website TENNA. The images revealed show a differently designed smartphone from the Nokia X71. It has an all-glass design on the front and back with a metal chassis. Front of the handset is dominated by the display which is expected to be a 6.4-inch panel with FullHD+ resolution. To attain a high screen to body ratio, the company has used a punch hole cutout on the top left of the display. For biometrics and security, the Nokia 8.1 Plus has been revealed to have an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Under the hood, the Nokia 8.1 Plus is expected to run on the 10nm Snapdragon 712 SoC. The chipset has an Octa-core CPU and Adreno 616 GPU. In terms of optics, the smartphone will have a triple rear camera setup, details of which are unknown at the moment. The selfie camera, expected to be a 16MP sensor housed in the punch hole cutout on the top of the display. For memory and storage, the Nokia 8.1 Plus will reportedly launch with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.
The user manual of the Nokia 8.1 Plus reveals the smartphone will have a USB Type-C port for charging and data syncing. The images also reveal it will retain the 3.5mm headphone jack and will support dual SIM via the Hybrid SIM card slot. Like all the global variants of Nokia handsets, the 8.1 Plus might also run on Android 9 Pie with Android One certification on board. This means that it will run a clean version of AndroidOS with guaranteed software updates for at least two years.
The leaked renders and user manual of the Nokia 8.1 Plus insinuate that the launch of the smartphone is imminent. Unfortunately, there is no information regarding the price of the device. But reports claim it will be priced around Rs. 29,999 in India.
