Xiaomi Mi A3 With Triple Cameras Certified On FCC And IMDA

Earlier this month, Xiaomi launched the Mi CC9 lineup of smartphones in China. The newly launched devices are packed with up to date features and are priced aggresively. The key highlighting features of the smartphones in this lineup include an under display fingerprint sensor and an AMOLED display.

Following the launch of the devices, rumours started surfacing they will launch as the Mi A3 in the global market. The rumours are now gaining traction with the addition of an FCC certification being received by M1906F9SH model from Xiaomi. It has even appeared on the Singaporean IMDA, with the same model number. The handset is turning out to be the upcoming Android One Mi A3.

    Design

The upcoming smartphone carries the same model number as the Mi CC9e albeit with a different last letter which is a C in the Mi CC9e. The FCC Certification carried a number of details regarding the upcoming Mi A3’s design and dimensions. According to the schematics, the back panel features both the Android One and Xiaomi logo at the bottom of the device. The device has also reportedly been seen at the EEC in Russia. The large cutout at the rear suggests a possible inclusion of a triple camera set up.

    Specification

Finer details are unclear right now, so it’s unknown if Mi A3 would sport Mi CC series specifications on the inside. The Mi CC9e ran on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC which is not a large improvement over the Mi A2. This could mean that a Mi A3 Lite might also be in development. It is going to sport a 48MP AI assisted primary camera on the rear, which is similar to the CC9e. The markings at the back also highlight a hybrid dual SIM card slot.

    Xiaomi Mi A2

The Chinese CC9e featured a 6.01-inch HD+ water drop notch display with a triple camera set up. It housed a 48MP Sony sensor, alongside an 8MP wide-angle lens and a 2MP depth sensor. The device featured a 3.5mm headphone jack which will be a welcomed return to the Mi A3. The aforementioned specs could probably make an appearance on the Mi A3 due to the similar price segments.

Xiaomi’s Mi A2 was officially launched in July which implies an imminent release of the Mi A3. Its predecessor received a warm welcome in India, so the Mi A3 is likely to be sold for a similar sub 20k price range. More information regarding the smartphone is expected to arrive within the next couple of days, stay tuned for updates.

  • Samsung Galaxy Fold 5G Receives FCC Certification Before Launch

Samsung Galaxy Fold 5G Receives FCC Certification Before Launch

Samsung was one of the first companies to launch a foldable smartphone. The Galaxy Fold was first introduced in February 2019 and had a scheduled launch date set later in April. Unfortunately, the commercial availability of the device has since been delayed due to multiple instances of malfunctioning caused by a premature release.

It is now reported that Samsung will also launch a new Galaxy Fold variant capable of 5G networking, as seen in an FCC (Federal Communications Commission) certification.

    Galaxy Fold

The South Korean electronics company will most likely launch the upcoming 5G variant alongside the standard Galaxy Fold model. The tech giant has reportedly fixed all the issues that had plagued the device pre-launch and is expected to be available soon. Both the 4G and 5G variants of the Galaxy Fold will probably have identical features and specifications, except connectivity and battery size. The standard version is a dual SIM device with 4380mAh battery capacity while the 5G model is only equipped with a single SIM and slightly smaller 4235mAh battery.

    Samsung Galaxy Fold

5G network bandwidth has yet to see widespread commercial adoption in various countries developed and developing alike. In countries like India where even 4G network has not had complete penetration, it is unlikely to see the release of any devices capable of the faster bandwidth. South Korea, on the other hand, has seen great integration with 5G and devices capable of it. Samsung’s Galaxy S10 5G is one of the biggest examples with over 1 million units sold in just a short amount of time.

    Galaxy S10 5G

Besides, Samsung has reportedly been working on a new foldable smartphone with a curved edge. It is highly unlikely that any of the aforementioned foldable phones would sport the new design immediately. Since Samsung has announced that a new foldable phone will be launched annually, it is probable that the Galaxy Fold 2 may incorporate the new aesthetical feature.

The Galaxy Fold is a revolutionary smartphone which had a failed start. Samsung has stuck to the device and is planning to make good on all the promises it has made for its customers. The upcoming foldable handsets are expected to release around the launch of the Galaxy Note 10, probably between August end and September. More information regarding this will soon be available in the coming weeks.

  • Upcoming Xiaomi Smartphone Gets FCC Certification

Upcoming Xiaomi Smartphone Gets FCC Certification

An upcoming Xiaomi smartphone has passed the FCC certification. This new smartphone bears the ID 2AFZZ-RMSC3GG and is said to target the budget conscious buyers in the Android smartphone market. Sources also claim it could be a more affordable phone from the Mi 8 series by Xiaomi. However, it is not clear as to which markets will see the launch of this device and whether it will make its way to India.

Not much is known about the device, but there are quite a few specifications which are seen on the listing. The Xiaomi smartphone only supports single-band WiFi and only works on WiFi b/g/n 2.4 GHz bands. This means it will not support dual-band WiFi or the latest WiFi 802.11ac. Also mentioned in the listing is that it is a dual SIM smartphone. However, only one SIM card can support 4G connectivity at a given point of time even though it supports dual standby.

Also mentioned in the listing is the fact that the phone has Bluetooth 4.2 support and not the latest Bluetooth 5.0. The listing also reveals the physical dimensions of the phone. The phone has a 5.9 inch screen and is around 71 mm wide. It is also reported to have dual rear cameras placed horizontally next to each other.

It is highly probable that this will be another China exclusive smartphone and might not see its launch in India. However, it is interesting to note that the Xiaomi smartphone does have Band 4.0 support. India’s leading telecom company, Reliance used the Band 4.0 technology in its Jio service. This might give us hope that the phone will be launched in India.

The device is called the Moto G7 Play and it will be the successor to the previously launched Moto G6 Play. The FCC listing provides detailed information about the smartphone.

Every smartphone in the US market must pass an FCC certification prior to its launch and the same is true for the upcoming Moto G7 Play. The listing reveals a lot of specifications and the design of the smartphone. On the front, the Moto G7 Play has a notch display with a thick bottom lip which carries the Motorola branding. The notch houses the speakerphone and the front camera along with an LED Flash. The right side of the device is occupied by the volume rockers and the power button. While the left side houses the dual sim + memory card slot.

The Moto G7 Play features the Octa-Core Snapdragon 632 CPU and Adreno 506 GPU. The new chipset is a considerable step up from the Snapdragon 430 which was present on the previous generation smartphone. Sadly, it only gets a small 2,820 mAh battery. However, the new phone retains the 3.5 mm jack, dedicated microSD slot, and the USB Type-C port. Like the Moto One Power, it also has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for securely unlocking it. Furthermore, the rear of the smartphone carries the single rear camera along with an LED flash of which the resolution is currently not known.

Samsung Galaxy Note9 Might Get A Huge Upgrade After All

In the second half of 2018, Samsung will host one of the three most anticipated global launch events. On August 9th in New York, the Samsung Galaxy Note9 will be unveiled. By the leaks of it, the Galaxy Note9 doesn’t look like much of an upgrade over the Galaxy Note8. The design is expected to remain similar while the specifications will get the usual upgrade. However, it appears that the S Pen will get a huge upgrade over its previous version.

The documentation filed by Samsung with the FCC reveals that the S Pen will have Bluetooth connectivity. This is a feature we haven’t seen in the stylus before and should open a huge prospect for the S Pen and its usage. A popular Samsung leaker, Ice Universe also delved into the possible feature of the S Pen.

As mentioned in the tweet, the S Pen for the Galaxy Note9 will do much more than editing or writing notes. Thanks to Bluetooth, it can be used to control music playback and timers, among other things. The S Pen could also be paired with third-party devices that can use a stylus, or have features that can be controlled with a button. The button could also be used to trigger Bixby. And maybe, Samsung will get rid of the Bixby button although, renders suggest otherwise.

  • Apple iPhone X Blush Gold Leaked In Live Images

Apple iPhone X Blush Gold Leaked In Live Images

Apple recently launched the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus (Product) RED for a starting price of US$ 649. Well before the announcement of the new red iPhones, the Apple iPhone X Blush Gold colour variant was leaked by prominent leaker Roland Quandt. Now, it looks like the launch of the iPhone X Blush Gold is imminent as images of the new colour have now surfaced online.

Every smartphone maker has to share details of a new smartphone in the making with the United States Federal Communications Commission. According to the documents obtained, the gold colour of the iPhone X was filed much before the launch of the iPhone X in September. While many of the documents were available soon after submission, external photos and other sensitive details were subject to a six-month confidentiality clause. That period is now over and the photos of the iPhone X Blush Gold have been released.

It appears that Apple had planned to launch the iPhone X in three colours, just like the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. However, the company could have run into some manufacturing issues which led the company into canning the gold colour variant. Prior to the iPhone X launch as well, there were many rumours that claimed Apple would launch its marquee iPhone in three colour variants. Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities had said that Apple was experiencing production issues for a iPhone X Blush Gold. He also suggested that the company could launch the iPhone X Blush Gold at a later date to give Apple time to work out the problems.

    iPhone X Blush Gold

Interestingly, the stainless steel frame on the iPhone X Blush Gold also has a shade of gold. This could be one of the aspects of this colour variant that was causing trouble. It is worth noting that the Blush Gold iPhone 8, which has an aluminium frame was launched in time along with other colour variants.

Whether Apple will launch the iPhone X in the Blush Gold colour variant is yet to be seen. Roland Quandt had claimed that this colour variant was in production and could be launched soon. However, there has been no news since then about a possible iPhone X being launched in a Blush Gold colour.

  • Moto Z3 Play Specifications Listed On FCC

Moto Z3 Play Specifications Listed On FCC

Recently the design of the Moto Z3 Play was leaked. And now, the device has been listed on Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This hints towards an imminent launch of the smartphone in the USA. The Moto Z3 Play will be a sort of a mini flagship smartphone from the company, which offers most of the features found on the flagship Z series smartphone at a reasonable price tag. However, the smartphone will have a cut down in the specs sheet to decrease the cost of production.

Recently we learned that the Moto Z3 Play will have an all-glass design with a dual camera setup. Additionally, the smartphone will also support for Moto MODs. The device is listed under a model number XT1929, which is similar to the Moto Z2 Play model number (XT1710). Additionally, the device has a 5MP front-facing camera with. The phone has a 3000 mAh battery, with support for turbocharging via a USB type C port. A 3000 mAh battery combined with a processor built on 14nm Architecture should offer great battery life. However, considering the bigger 6.1 inch screen, the battery seems bit smaller.

  • Sony Next In Line To Ditch The Headphone Jack

Sony Next In Line To Ditch The Headphone Jack

Back in 2016, Apple took the bold step of removing the beloved 3.5mm headphone jack from its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Ridiculed by critics and peers at that time, the industry has slowly grown warmer towards the idea of wireless technology. Google launched the Pixel and Pixel XL a month after the iPhone 7 was launched and it mocked Apple for removing the headphone jack. A year later, Google launched the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL without a headphone jack.

Over the course of the past one and a half year, smartphone makers have partially accepted that wireless is the future and that removing the headphone jack will drive the industry towards creating better wireless technology. While LG and Samsung, the other major smartphone makers persist with a headphone jack, Sony appears to have finally switched sides as well.

An upcoming Sony smartphone with the model number ID PY7-21831A has surfaced online as it passed through FCC. While FCC listings don’t usually shed a lot of light on specs and features of a smartphone, this particular listing reveals that this Xperia device won’t have a 3.5mm headphone jack. To take a drastic step like this, Sony would have to choose a flagship device hence, this could very well be the upcoming Sony Xperia XZ Pro. The Xperia XZ Pro is expected to be launched at MWC 2018 scheduled to take place from the 26th of February in Barcelona. Furthermore, the attached document also highlights that the dimensions of the phone are 152.79 x 72.42 mm and that it has a 5.7-inch screen diagonal display.

This information falls in line with previous leaks about the Sony Xperia XZ Pro. It will have a 5.7 inch OLED display with 4K resolution, thin bezels and possibly, an 18:9 aspect ratio.

Under the hood, the Sony Xperia XZ Pro will have the Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of onboard storage. The storage is expected to be expandable via a microSD card. The fingerprint sensor is expected to be housed inside the lock button on the side. Although, with the presence of an OLED display, Sony could go ahead and use a screen embedded fingerprint sensor.

The device will be powered by a 3420 mAh battery which will support QuickCharge 4.0+.

The Xperia XZ Pro will have a dual rear camera setup, with one of the cameras having an 18 MP sensor with 1.33 microns pixel size and a 12 MP sensor with 1.38 microns pixel size. On the front will be a 13 MP camera.

Whether the smartphone mentioned in the FCC documents really is the Xperia XZ Pro is yet to be seen and all of it will absolutely clear when the company unveils the device at MWC 2018. It will also be interesting to see if Sony does remove the headphone jack, what the company will say about the decision. Whether the industry trend forced it into the decision or whether the company has some exciting wireless headphones to go with its new flagship.

  • Google Teases Google Glass in an FCC Filing

Google Teases Google Glass in an FCC Filing

It’s been a long time since we heard anything about Google Glass. Yes, we are talking about that spectacle containing a tiny computer, whose production was stopped by Google earlier this year. It could have been the end of it, but Google never stopped developing the project. Today, a report has came out that says Google Glass could resurface again.

According to Droid Life, an FCC (Federal Communication Commission) filing by Google indicates that the company is working on a new version of Google Glass. Filed under the FCC ID A4R-GG1, the term ‘GG’ indicates Google Glass. Unlike most devices, which are labelled in FCC as mobile or a wearable, this one has been labelled as “BLUETOOTH & DTS/UNII a/b/g/n/ac” with model name “GG1”.

According to the website, the device has Bluetooth LE and rechargeable, non-removable batteries that can’t be accessed…. the product comes with an AC charger and USB cable that when connected to a PC, can provide a “path for charging and data transfer.”

For all we know, the device could be a smartphone or a tablet, but the fact that it hasn’t been labelled as a phone or wearable and Google used the initials GG, this could be the next version of Google Glass. Of course, it’s all speculation until and unless Google announces it.

With Oculus Rift expected to make a huge entry by 2016 and Microsoft HoloLens getting attention for its innovative holographic interface, Google has the perfect opportunity to make strides in the augmented reality wearable segment.
