Spec Battle: Moto G (3rd Gen) VS Yu Yureka Plus VS Xiaomi Mi 4i

Motorola has just launched the long-awaited Moto G. And like many other competitive handsets around, Moto G, too, has seen its fair share of rumours and leaks. The device is available in two variants and will be available on Flipkart by midnight, today.

The device boasts of a 5-inch 720p display with 1280×720-pixel resolution and 294ppi. It is powered by a 1.4GHz Quad core CPU and the processor has been upgraded from Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 to Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, along with an Adreno306 GPU. It is juiced by a 2,470 mAh battery that can last roughly up to a day. The handset is available in two variants- 8GB storage with 1GB RAM and 16GB storage with 2GB RAM.

Camera specifications include a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, Field of view (FOV) up to 76 degrees. The 5MP front camera consists of a f/2.2 aperture and Field v (FOV) 72 degrees Display flash with fixed focus.

We have pitted the Moto G against the smartphones in the similar price bracket. Let us see how it fared.

As we can see above, Yu Yureka Plus is apparently leading the way to be the first choice of the market due to the same, or better specs in each category at a much cheaper price. But, Moto G should not be undervalued in this race. We think that by adding features like being waterproof for up to 3 feet for 30 minutes, or just shaking the handset for the camera to start automatically, should take the Moto G (Gen 3) a step forward. And, how can we forget the choice between 10 different coloured shell covers and 5 flip covers that leave us spoiled for choice.

OnePlus One Vs OnePlus 2 : What’s the Real Difference?

The day has finally arrived. OnePlus has released their highly-anticipated follow up to their 2014 OnePlus One, the OnePlus 2. The launch event was showcased exclusively through Virtual Reality technology via specially designed OnePlus VR headsets. All this while, the Chinese start-up had been releasing teasers and trailers to keep their fans occupied ahead of the launch today. These, served the purpose, and managed to create the desired hype.

First, let us see have a quick look at how the OnePlus 2 fares against its elder brother, the OnePlus One.

Miscellaneous  Available in Silk White, Sandstone Black colours; Fingerprint sensor, Reversible USB Type-C Charger
    Price  Rs 21, 999 Rs 22,999/24,999

As we can see in the spec sheet above, there is not much difference between the One and 2. Most of the specs including the screen size, resolution, storage and camera. The OnePlus 2, although, stands out in the terms of its processor and RAM. OnePlus 2 is also the first OnePlus device to feature a Type-C USB port and a fingerprint sensor, that can store five unique fingerprints.

Camera-wise the megapixel number may not have budged, however the company has added an array of useful sensors. The OnePlus 2 comes with a sensor pixel size of 1.3 microns that makes it up to 35% larger than standard smartphone cameras. The new Laser Focus feature also helps to take clear shots in less that 0.3 seconds. It also features the coveted OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation), which has been previously seen in the iPhone 6 Plus.

Just like the specs, the price also barely sees a change. The company had announced that the new handset will not cross more than the price of Rs. 28,500 ($450). Honoring that promise, OnePlus revealed the final launch price of the new OnePlus 2 as Rs. 22,999 for the 16GB variant and Rs. 24,999  for the 64GB variant.

We think the upgraded design and the new camera, RAM, reversible chargerm and fingerprint scanner may be worth the amount, but we’ll only give our final verdict after our full review. Watch this space for more on the new OnePlus 2.

Spec Battle: Yu Yureka Plus VS Lenovo K3 Note VS Xiaomi Mi 41 VS ASUS Zenfone 2

Yu Televentures, yesterday, had unveiled the Yu Yureka Plus. The device, is priced at Rs 9,999, and while the device is not larger than the original Yu Yureka or have bumped up specs, it does include small and significant changes. For instance, the Plus model comes with a 1920x1080px display, as compared to the 720px on the original Yureka. The Plus also gets the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection layer added to the top of the display. Some other improvements include a new camera sensor, made by Sony, and the new white colour finish back panel option, which gives the device a premium look.

With a whole lot of information about the specs, let us see whether the Yu Yureka lived up to its legacy against its contenders in the same budget category:

As we can see in the specs sheet above, the Yu Yureka Plus holds most of the same specs as the Xiaomi Mi 4i and the ASUS Zenfone 2, but only much cheaper. Except in terms of battery, of course. While the Xiaomi and the ASUS handsets rock it out with their 3,000mAh and above battery meter, the Yu Yureka Plus lags behind with only 2,500mAh of battery life. But, you can’t have everything in one package, right?

The phone will go on sale on the 24th of July at 12:00 Noon, at Amazon.in. The Yu Yureka Plus comes in two colour options, the Moondust Grey and the Alabaster White.

Spec Battle: Lenovo K3 Note Vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G Vs Yu Yureka

Today, Lenovo launched its highly anticipated phablet, the K3 Note, at a launch event held in New Delhi. The company had teased ‘Note the Date’ clearly indicating that they had plans on releasing the K3 Note that was launched in China earlier this year.

In the previous post, we mentioned that the Note could go against the likes of Redmi Note 4G and the Yu Yureka. Let us see now, how the K3 Note fares against these well-established handsets:

    Specs

    Price Rs.9,999 Rs.9,999 Rs.8999

As we can see above, Yu Yureka is leading out of the three, with its pricing. Almost every spec of the Yu Yureka is as same as the Redmi Note and the K3 Note, yet easier on the pocket. However, Lenovo’s new offering comes with a better display. Before making any bold statements we would like to get our hands on the K3 Note to see what this device is capable of.

Spec Battle: YU Yuphoria vs The Rest of the Budget Blockbusters

Yesterday, Micromax YU showed off its latest smartphone in India; the YU Yuphoria is another amazing product by the company. With the latest smartphone, YU is certain to cement its status in the smartphone domain.

Yuphoria features a decent display of 5-inches with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. As revealed earlier by the firm, it packs a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 with Adreno A306 GPU. The RAM stands at 2GB with internal storage space at 16GB. The best part is that all these specifications are available at an inexpensive price tag of Rs. 6,999.

Let’s check out if Yuphoria takes a dig at other contenders in the budget category:

    Price  Rs. 6,999 Rs. 7,499 Rs. 6,999 Rs. 9,999 Rs. 7,999

As you can see the table above, Yuphoria’s specs are giving a tough time to the best smartphones in the budget segment. It touts a Gorilla Glass 3 protection, which even the Rs. 7,499 Lenovo A6000 Plus doesn’t have. It has LTE connectivity and runs on the latest Cyanogen 12 OS based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. What isn’t mentioned above, is that the smartphone also flaunts a metal frame, which is rarely seen on smartphones in this category.

Yuphoria clearly stands out of the pack, but we will only give our final verdict on its performance after an in-depth review. Stay tuned for that, till then watch our unboxing and hands on with the YU Yuphoria.

Epic Flagship Spec Battle : LG G4 vs Samsung Galaxy S6 vs iPhone 6 Plus vs HTC One M9

LG pulled off a big show yesterday and introduced its 2015 star flagship, the LG G4. The company is betting big on the new device and claims that it offers an exceptional visual experience. So, we decided to check out how this new flagship stands up against the major flagships already available in the market. We are pitching the LG G4 against the Samsung Galaxy S6, iPhone 6 Plus and HTC One M9.

Have a look at the difference in specs:

    Specs

Looking at the specs, LG G4 shows the might to take on its competition. It is one mammoth of a device in terms of the camera, display and battery life. Coming out with an additional 128GB external storage capacity is an advantage for the LG G4. We’re also hearing good things about its leather-clad design and style. However, we’d like to get our hands on the device before we make any further comparisons.

Read about the LG G4 here, or you can compare notes of the difference between the LG G4 vs LG G3 here.

  • LG G4 vs LG G3: Is it Worth the Upgrade?

LG G4 vs LG G3: Is it Worth the Upgrade?

Finally, LG has released its long awaited flagship today at an unveiling event held in New York and London simultaneously. Here, we will have a look at the major differences between the LG G3, which was released last year in May, and the G4. Comparing notes to answer ‘What is the real difference?’

From the specs point of view, the 5.5-inch QHD resolution G4 is packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with 3GB RAM. It has 32GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 128GB.  It has a 13MP camera along with f/1.8 aperture, color spectrum and optical image stabilization. The 8MP front camera also has a f/1.8 aperture. Connectivity options include LTE-Advanced support, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC.

Let us compare the newly-launched device with its predecessor below:

    SPECIFICATION LG G3 LG G4
    Display 5.5 inch QHD1440×2560 resolution 5.5-inch Quad HD LCD display 2560 x 1440 resolution
Processor 2.5 GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 with X10 LTE
    RAM 3GB 3GB
    Primary Camera 13MP 16MP
    Front Camera 2.1MP 8MP
    Storage 32GB 32GB
    Expandable Up to 128GB 128GB
    Battery 3100mAh 3,000mAh
Operating System Android 4.4 KitKat Android 5.1 Lollipop with LG UX 4.0 on top
Price Rs. 37,500 Not Yet Revealed

From the table above, we can see that there is not much difference between the two handsets. The G4 is primarily taken the lead on the camera specifications, especially the front camera. The G4 has won the race by featuring an 8MP front camera as compared to G3’s 2.1MP front shooter. The screen size remains the same, except that the G4 packs a higher resolution than the G3. The only spec where the G3 is above is in the battery department. But then, how much difference can 100mAh make? The display, camera and the processor specifications may make the LG G4 a good choice over the LG G3.

The pricing of the G4 has not been revealed yet, and it will be available in the Korean market from tomorrow. Details of its availability outside have not been disclosed. Keep checking iGyaan for new updates.

  • Spec Battle : ASUS ZenFone 2 Vs OnePlus One

Spec Battle : ASUS ZenFone 2 Vs OnePlus One

The ASUS Zenfone series is a highly appreciated lineup in the Indian smartphone market. The Taiwanese electronics maker already has Zenfone 4, 5 and 6 in its India handset portfolio and today, it expanded its ZenFone range in the country with the launch of ZenFone 2. The latest iteration is a mid-range smartphone and known to boast the powerful 4GB of RAM.

Priced at Rs. 22,999, ZenFone 2 holds quite a good spec sheet. It has an edge over many the high-end smartphones and competes with devices like Huawei Honor 6 Plus, iPhone 5c, and LG G3. We have pitted it against the flagship killer of 2014 i.e. OnePlus One and here are the differences between the two.

    Specs

    OnePlus One

    ASUS ZenFone 2

    Battery 3100mAh 3000mAh
Operating System CyanogenMod 12 Android 5.0 Lollipop
    Price Rs. 21,999 Rs. 22,999

As you can see in the table above, both OnePlus One and ASUS ZenFone 2 bear nearly the same specifications. Both the devices have a 5.5-inch Full-HD display, 64GB onboard memory, 13MP primary shooter, and 5MP selfie camera. The One has a slightly bigger battery and stuffs a Snapdragon processor, while the new ZenFone houses an Intel chipset. The ZenFone is priced Rs. 1,000 higher than the OnePlus One.

OnePlus has an edge over the ZenFone as it give a variation to the users by offering CyanogenMod which can now be upgraded to CyanogenMod 12 or Oxygen OS now. The ZenFone 2, on the other hand, comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop. We won’t be able to give a final verdict till we’ve reviewed Asus’ new flagship. Stay tuned, more coming up on iGyaan.

  • iGyaan Spec Battle: Lenovo A6000 vs. Redmi Note 4G vs. Yu Yureka

iGyaan Spec Battle: Lenovo A6000 vs. Redmi Note 4G vs. Yu Yureka

At CES 2015, Lenovo introduced the A6000 capable of taking on the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note and the newly launched Yu Yureka. The phone has some good specs for the sub Rs.10,000 segment. But how does it rate against its competition?

Here is a comparison of specs for you to decide:

    Specs

    Lenovo A6000

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G

    YU Yureka

Display 5 inch HD IPS 5.5 inch IPS LCD 5.5 inch HD
    Processor 1.2 GHz 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor  1.6 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 1.5 GHz  octa-core Snapdragon 615

Operating System Android 4.4 Android 4.2 Cyanogen OS 11
    Price Below Rs. 10,000 Rs.9,999 Rs.8999

Overall it’s easy to come to the conclusion that Yureka’s spec sheet coupled with CyanogenMod and its attractive price give it an edge over the competition. Lenovo’s A6000 seems to lag a bit behind, but a competitive price tag might give it a chance to establish itself in the market. We just have to wait for the arrival of the A6000 to check out the final spec sheet and pricing for a final conclusion!

  • Nexus 9 vs iPad Mini 3: Which One Got it Right?

Nexus 9 vs iPad Mini 3: Which One Got it Right?

Apple has finally unveiled the new generation iPads and iMacs. The company had earlier “accidentally” released some information about the new generation products from its stable. Seems like Apple has put some real challenge for Nexus.  Both the iPad Mini 3 and the Nexus 9 are priced close to Rs. 24,000 ($400).

Now that we have the knowledge of the juicy bits  of these devices that make them tick, we’d like to take them for a spec comparison.

    Specs

    Nexus 9

    iPad Mini Retina

Display 8.9-inch QXGA 7.9?inch Retina display
Processor 2.3GHz, 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 Dual Denver A7 Chip

Front Camera 1.6 MP 1.2 MP
    Battery 6700 mAh
Operating System Android 5.0 iOS 8.0.1

Overall, on the spec sheet, it looks like the Nexus 9 is beating Apple’s latest offering quite easily; Google and HTC together have formed a good device. Apple’s Handoff features though will be truly appreciated by the fans, and thus the device will find many takers. The features can still be up for debate, and we’ll get you the full story once these devices are available.

  • Nexus 6 vs iPhone 6 Plus vs Note 4 vs Xperia Z3 vs LG G3

Nexus 6 vs iPhone 6 Plus vs Note 4 vs Xperia Z3 vs LG G3

With the launch of Google’s Nexus 9, the world has seen the crème de la crème of what the smartphone industry has to offer. This year turned out to be the best year in technology. Not only did we reach the highest specifications yet but were even able to bring those specs to lower-priced devices. Now that the biggest giants have unveiled their flagship competitors, it is time to test their spec-sheet might in comparison to each other.

This is a purely spec based battle and will not take in consideration the optimization and other software features. So let’s get ahead to check out how the innards of these legendary devices score in a face off against each other.

With this table, one can easily see the Nexus throwing a heavy claim to the throne. Not only does it come with great specifications, it also comes with the Android Lollipop which is the most efficient Android OS yet. The phone also sports Motorola’s unique ring flash which sets it apart from the rest. For a multimedia enthusiast, the Nexus 6 makes complete sense with its front facing speakers and gigantic display. However it misses out on expandable storage and added features like timelapse and slow motion camera which irks because those features could have been easily incorporated.

Nexus 6 faces its most toughest challenge from its own cousin. The rumored Moto X Plus will take the features from this device and add more features to the device. There is still a lot to look forward to in the future.
