An Indian company that a few years ago not spoken of, a brand that most would not associate with, and a manufacturer that was looked down upon, today is one of the most prominent names in the market. It’s never easy when you are talking to the game changers, but the conversation always turns out to be amazing.

This week on #LetsTalkShop a lot is revealed about Micromax. Shobhodip Pal, who is the CMO of Micromax India, delves deep into the problems faced by the company, the relationships within and outside the organisation.

Shubhodip has been with Micromax for 19+ months and has seen, while being instrumental; the company emerge as one of the biggest names in the Indian smartphone and mobile race. One of the busiest men in the organisation Shubhodip always is pepped on energy and throughout the discussion was energised.

According to Shubhodip, Micromax has always and will continue to deliver platforms that they feel the market is ready for. After Android, Micromax felt that the time is right for Windows Phone and once the partnership was announced at the build conference, Micromax was ready to build windows phones and recently delivered the two most important products in the line up.

The company is working on many more products in the lineup of Windows Phone, as this is not a one off for the company, he said.

Micromax has usually ignored Software updates, however; the company is working on rolling out software updates for all their recent phones and promises quick updates going forward thanks to a new software development team that has been assigned.

The company is also planning to set up software update kiosks across the country, where people can bring in their phones for 30-40 minutes and get an updated phone back. While it seems a little ambitious, Micromax is keen on delivering this and changing the now negative chatter around updates to a positive one.

For reaching as far as he has Shubodip, asks that you remain persistent and are not scared to roll up your sleeves. Are willing to go out of your way to make your organisation shine, and you will grow once you start to believe in the organisation.

Shubhodip Pal's software update kiosks are up and running throughout the world. If you wanna try, search "Shubhodip Kiosk" on Google and if you are lucky you might find one just 1 km from you in vertical direction. hah Micromax...

Micromax marketing is only focused on new customers. Existing customers struggle to get after sales service in any form. Be it service centers or Android Updates. It has be more than 1.5 years since first A116 Canvas HD was launched and no updates have ever seen the light of day. They seem to be testing and rejecting every update they took on. Xolo is at least taking care of its Android Update quiet well. I'll avoid Micromax next time due to these reasons.

Y didnt you ask them about Ubuntu Phone?? i know its a very slight possibility but you should have asked na! If you see theor g+ page, where they had wrongly put the Ubuntu symbol in the windows phone tile, there were soooooo many people speculating and interested about the Ubuntu phone!! go and see! please, if u still can ( i know u can) please update us about if there are any plans of mmx in future to launch Ubuntu Phones!!

Hi,

I bought the 2ghz model of canvas knight A350 when it was launched via micromax online store. Mmx that time promised future fota upgrade to kitkat. But now when i came to know that 1.7 ghz model is in with same name and model number. I reached to mmx customer care in person and over call and both told me that only 1.7 ghz model would have kitkat. Then wtf have they launched faulty 2ghz models which heat up like cooker and which have many application crash issues.

When asked about replacement, mmx denied and said nothing can be done.

Battery of this phone sucks. Whole day i keep it on charging.100% to 90% falls in just 10 minutes even without using it. So battery is sucked like anything. Never used it on full brightness. Hence no use of having such so called full hd devices which you cannot keep on high brightness.

Being in warranty period still mmx denied to replace faulty unit.

Isn't this a cheating :

1) launching same model number with different configuration and not replacing in warnnanty faulty units.

2) one A350 have kitkat and another donot. How mmx would justify for practically same model?

3) I had strong belief in mmx and hence purchased 20 k mmx phone rather than 24k nexus 5 anyday better choice. But the kind of gimmicks and let down mmx is giving is pathetic.

4) service centres executives are rude. They slapped phone on my face even while i was talking.

5) how mmx is planning to be an international brand? This is d difference between mmx and other big companies say motorola. Moto e and moto g had flap issues and hence people did get a replacment for 3 month old cells as well.

Mmx would fall on its face with the kind of service n support they have.

6) mmx etc were selling chinese OEMs in india and were earning good. But what would they do and how would they survive now with all big chinese brands itself coming to india. Alcatel, gionee, oppo, lenovo, xiomi, meizu, zopo have started to flock in to india. Beware mmx !! Few months old gionee is giving better support then you in india. I hope you remember how old are you in india and for how long people are asking you to improve your after sale service.

hey bharat. since u stressed out on post sales service i'd like to tell u that karbonn mobiles is worse than this. i gave my phone on 6-06-2014 and since then its been a nightmare. they havent given me my phone back yet. and guess whats the best part. they even abuse customers.( yea it comes complimentary with the product). when i said them I will approach consumer court they laugh it out and say yea sure go ahead. lets see if they keep up their word for delivering it on 23-6-2014. fingers crossed. regretting big time buy products of such a company.
