Qualcomm Launches ‘Toq’ Smartwatch

Just few hours ago, Samsung launched its Galaxy Gear, with touch screen, voice call capabilities and a built in camera on the strap of the watch. Today Qualcomm introduced its “Toq” smartwatch, a wrist-worn device that can play music, handle phone calls and messages, this marks the chipmaker’s entry into the wearable computing devices.

Qualcomm executives told developers in San Diego it will disclose details on how to buy a Toq later this month, and did not specify the price but can be expected around $300. The device is up for prebooking and will be available from October 10, 2013.

They said it will be the first smartwatch with a touch-enabled color screen that can be easily be viewed in bright sunlight

While company’s now are getting into wearable electronics, we have heard rumors of Apple and Google to be working on some wearable devices. Is wearable electronics the future ? what do you think ?
